        건전 상아질과 우식 상아질에서 matrix metalloproteinase-13의 V

        Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are proteolytic enzymes involved in degradation of the extracellular matrix.In a previous study, MMP-13 was found to be expressed in pulp implying its involvement in the pathogenesis of dental caries. Two extracted teeth were used. A sound tooth and a tooth with wide range of dental caries were used. Two sections were obtained each from isolated crown and root. Immunofluorescence of the FITC of the MMP-13 in coronal and radicular dentin was analyzed by confocal microscopy. Immunofluorescence signals that were indicative of MMP-13 were observed in coronal dentin of sound teeth and in carious teeth with a wide range of caries. Marked immunofluorescent reaction was observed in the border line of caries infected and affected coronal dentin. MMP-13 expression was not detected in the root dentin. The expressions of MMP-13 in carious dentin imply the roles of MMP-13 in caries progression.

        어포던스 이론의 본질과 디자인적용에 관한 연구

        본 연구는 환경 및 공간디자인분야에 있어 지각심리학적 사고에 기반을 둔 새로운 디자인 이론으로 공간 및 환경디자인 분야에 활용되고 있는 어포던스 이론의 의미를 재구축하고 가능성을 모색하여 디자이너가 활용할 수 있도록 함에 목적이 있었으며, 그 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 디자인 분야에서 사용되는 어포던스 개념은 Gibson이 가정했던 것 이상으로 확장되어 원래의 의미를 잃고 있다. 디자인 분야에서는 사용자가 제품을 사용할 때 수행해야 하는 행동에 대한 시각적 단서를 제품이 얼마나 잘 제공하는지를 근거로 제품의 어포던스를 평가하며 어포던스를 표식(sign)과 동일시하거나 아이콘과 은유를 어포던스와 혼동하여 이해하기도 하였다. 또한, 디자이너에 있어 어포던스의 의미는 지각자의 자극에 대한 반사나 주관으로 인지되고 디자인 방법론의 새로운 프로세스로써 이해되고 있다. 그러나 어포던스의 개념적 한계를 분명하게 인식하고 새로운 가능성을 모색해보려는 시도를 하는 것도 중요할 것이며, 일련의 행위들의 상호작용 속에서 행위를 유발하는 속성들을 구체화할 수 있다면, 어포던스의 개념에 원래 의미에 더 다가갈 수 있을 것이다. The purpose of this study is to reconstruct the meaning of affordance theory, new design theory which has been applied to space and environmental design areas, as a prospective design tool for designers. the summary of this review is as follows; The concept of affordance used in design areas has been expanded beyond Gibson's ideas and has lost it's useful meanings. In design areas, most designers assess products' affordances by visibility of visual cues for actions, and identify signs or icons or metaphors with affordances confusedly. As a designer, the affordance is accepted as reflex or subjective response to environmental stimulus and as new design process. But, It is very important to try to find out new possibility of affordance for design by recognizing conceptual limitations of it. And If environmental features eliciting latent actions will be realized in relation to human-space interaction, affordance could be close to the essential meaning of direct perception in design.

        RNA Interference-Mediated Simultaneous Silencing of Four Genes Using Cross-Shaped RNA

        The structural flexibility of RNA interference (RNAi)-trig-gering nucleic acids suggests that the design of uncon-ventional RNAi trigger structures with novel features is possible. Here, we report a cross-shaped RNA duplex structure, termed quadruple interfering RNA (qiRNA), with multiple target gene silencing activity. qiRNA trig-gers the simultaneous down-regulation of four cellular target genes via an RNAi mechanism. In addition, qiRNA shows enhanced intracellular delivery and target gene silencing over conventional siRNA when complexed with jetPEI, a linear polyethyleneimine (PEI). We also show that the long antisense strand of qiRNA is incorporated intact into an RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC). This novel RNA scaffold further expands the repertoire of RNAi-triggering molecular structures and could be used in the development of therapeutics for various diseases including viral infections and cancer.

        Usefulness of a Single Bend Lattice in a Compact Light Source

        A single bend lattice, a lattice with only one bending magnet per cell,is proposed for a compact third generation light source.Since this lattice allows an insertion device foreach bending magnet, it is possible to install much more insertion devices than other types oflattices of similar size. A single bend latticehas a high dispersion in the insertion straight, which may cause theinsertion device radiation to excite the emittance rather than the expected damping.This problem is solved by increasing the bending angle,which means reducing the ring size. That is why a SB lattice is proposed for a compact light source.

        Differential Expressions of Matrix Metalloproteinase- 8 and 13 in Human Coronal and Radicular Dentin with Progression of Caries

        Background: Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are proteolytic enzymes involved in degradation of the extracellular matrix. MMP-8 has been reported to be involved in the degradation of collagen in progression of dental caries. MMP-13 was found to be expressed in both normal and caries pulp, implying its involvement in the pathogenesis of dental caries. Methods: Four extracted teeth were used. They were categorized into four grades according to caries progression. Three sections were prepared from each separated crown and root. Immunofluorescence of the FITC of the MMP-8 and 13 in coronal and radicular dentin was analyzed by confocal microscopy. Results: Immunofluorescence signals that were indicative of MMP-8 were observed both in radicular and coronal dentin in the sound, C1 and C3 carious teeth. In C2 carious teeth, immunofluorescence signals that were indicative of MMP-8 were observed only in radicular dentin. Immunofluorescence signals that were indicative of MMP-13 were observed both in radicular and coronal dentin in the sound teeth. In C1, C2 and C3 carious teeth, immunofluorescence signals that were indicative of MMP-13 were not observed both in radicular and coronal dentin. Conclusion: Immunofluorescence signals revealed that MMP-8 and 13 were present in coronal and radicular dentin, and was differently expressed as caries progressed.

        오크통 드럼 형상을 갖는 고효율 커피 로스터기 개발

        In this study, high thermal efficiency and eco-friendly coffee roaster is developed. The core element of coffee roaster is a roasting drum and most of the coffee roasting drum is a flat cylindrical barrel type. From the traditional shape of cereal puffing machine, we got the idea of the roasting drum. Oak barrel shape is well known high thermal efficiency system in korean heating cook system. Therefore, we designed the coffee roaster containing the oak barrel shaped drum and combustor nozzles which has an ability of roasting 3kg of coffee beans within 10 minutes of roasting time. With our developed coffee roasting machine, the heating speed of roasting process is very fast, and the roasting of coffee beans can be quickly finished. We experimented the roasting time and compared the results with other coffee roasting machines of the same amount of roasting capacity. The results were outstanding in roasting time and the quality of roasting. In spite of smaller fuel consumption, the roasting time was more shorter than flat cylindrical roasting drum.
