        Chemical Constituents of Essential Oils Possessing Anti-Influenza A/WS/33 Virus Activity

Abstract Objectives This study was conducted to determine whether essential oils had anti-influenza A/WS/33 virus activity and whether there were specific compounds associated with this activity. Methods There were 63 essential oils evaluated for anti-influenza (A/WS/33 virus) activity using a cytopathic effect reduction method. The chemical composition of the anti-influenza essential oils was phytochemically analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Results The antiviral assays demonstrated that 11 of the 62 essential oils (100 μg/mL) possessed anti-influenza activity, reducing visible cytopathic effects of influenza A/WS/33 virus activity by > 30%. Furthermore, marjoram, clary sage and anise oils exhibited anti-influenza A/WS/33 virus activity of > 52.8%. However, oseltamivir (the anti-influenza A and B drug), showed cytotoxicity at the same concentration (100 μg/mL) as the essential oils. The chemical composition detected by GC–MS analysis, differed amongst the 3 most potent anti-viral essential oils (marjoram, clary sage and anise oils) except for linalool, which was detected in all 3 essential oils. Conclusion This study demonstrated anti-influenza activity in 11 essential oils tested, with marjoram, clary sage and anise essential oils being the most effective at reducing visible cytopathic effects of the A/WS/33 virus. All 3 oils contained linalool, suggesting that this may have anti-influenza activity. Further investigation is needed to characterize the antiviral activity of linalool against influenza A/WS/33 virus.

      • THE PARTICLE SIZE EFFECT ON COMBUSTION BEHAVIOR OF CELLULOSE INSULATION

        The combustion of cellulose insulation treated with Borax, Boric acid and Aluminum Sulfate as combustion retardants is examined by candle type combustion tester. The cellulose fibers in cellulose insulation are classified by diameter as less than 0.2mm, 0.2mm-0.5mm, 0.5mm-2mm and more than 2mm. The burning behavior of cellulose insulation are studied by LOI (Limit Oxygen Index: Beginning point of smoldering), L- point (Lower point of combustion transition from smoldering- flaming to flaming combustion), LOI, L-point and H-point rise with the increasing particle size of cellulose fibers because thermal decomposition rate of cellulose fiber decreases. The phenomena of combustion transition from smoldering to flaming combustion are determined by the generating rate of combustible gas and the formation rate of combustible gas mixture within the zone of cellulose fiber heated.

        현재 활발히 구축중인 u-City에 도시정보를 수집하고 통합적으로 분석하여 도시를 효과적으로 운영·관리하는 기관인 도시통합운영센터가 설치되는데 막대한 운영비와 열악한 수익구조로 운영에 많은 차질이 있었다. 이에 현재 도시통합운영센터를 운영 중인 화성 동탄u-City와 은평 뉴타운 u-City의 도시통합운영센터의 통합적 비교·분석을 통해 시사점을 도출하였으며 이에 대해 효율적 입지선정과 전국 공통의 통합플랫폼 개발, 스마트폰과 보다 적극적인 정보활용을 통한 체감형 서비스 및 민간사업자 유치방안 등의 해결책을 제시하였다.

        지역사회에서 형성된 사회적 지지와 근로자의 사회심리적 스트레스간의 관련성

        Objective: This study was performed to examine the relationship between community-based social support and psychosocial distress in workers. Methods: The study subjects were 596 workers recruited from 11 companies in Chungju city. A structured questionnaire was used to assess sociodemographics, health-related behaviors, job characteristics, job stress, work-based social support, community-based social support and level of psychosocial distress. Results: Hierarchical multiple regression analysis showed that workers with no chronic disease, exercise and sufficient sleep had a higher score of psychosocial distress than those with chronic disease, no exercise, and not enough sleep. Coworker's work-based social support and community-based social support were negatively associated with psychosocial distress. The R square value of total independent variables on psychosocial distress was 0.409, and that of community-based social support on psychosocial distress was 0.052. Conclusion: This study showed that community-based social support served as a protective factor against psychosocial distress in some workers. We recommend the establishment of a worksite stress reduction program in occupational level as well as community-based social support.

        하이브리드 러닝을 이용한 재무회계학 교육

        [연구목적] 본 연구는 코로나 팬데믹의 비대면 환경에서 하이브리드러닝을 이용한 재무회계관련 교과목의 학부과정 강의사례를 소개하고자 한다. [연구방법] 하이브리드 러닝은 원격의 학습자와 강의실 공간의 학습자가 디지털 기술을 통해 소통하거나 면대면 수업의 일부를 온라인 원격교육으로 대체하는 방식이라고 할 수 있다. 학습자의 적극적인 참여학습을 위하여 플립러닝 및 디지털 기술을 적용하였고, 수업진행후의 설문조사를 통해 하이브리드 러닝을 통한 학습능력(협동학습, 문제해결능력, 자기주도학습능력) 및 학습만족도의 개선 정도를 알아보았다. [연구결과] 하이브리드 러닝의 활용은 수업의 전반적인 만족도가 향상되는 것으로 나타났으며, 다양한 디지털 디바이스 및 기술의 수업시간의 활용은 학습자들의 적극적인 수업참여를 이끌고 그 결과, 협동학습능력과 자기주도학습능력, 문제해결능력요인이 향상 되는 결과를 산출하였다. [연구의 시사점] 이러한 연구의 결과는 재무회계교육에 있어 학습법변화의 필요성을 일깨우고, 학습자의 수업만족도 향상이 동기부여 및 더 높은 학습능력의 산출이 가능함을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 재무회계학 관련 수업에서 학습목표 및 수강자의 특성에 따라 학습자의 참여수업이 효과적이며, 디지털기술을 이용한 하이브리드 러닝은 적절한 도구임을 확인할 수 있었다. [Purpose] In the untact environment of the corona pandemic, this study intends to introduce an undergraduate course case of financial accounting-related subjects using hybrid learning. [Methodology] Hybrid learning is a method in which remote learners and learners in the classroom communicate with each other through digital technology. Fliped learning and digital technology were applied for the active participation of learners, and learning ability (cooperative learning, problem solving ability, self-directed learning ability) and class satisfaction were analyzed through a questionnaire after class. [Findings] Hybrid learning improved the overall satisfaction of the class. In addition, the use of digital technology produced results that increased cooperative learning ability and selfdirected learning ability, and improved learners’ participation in class. [Implications] The contribution of this study confirmed the need for a change in the financial accounting education method. In addition, it was confirmed that the learnerparticipating class was effective according to the learning goals and characteristics of the students in the classes related to financial accounting, and hybrid learning using digital technology was an appropriate tool.

        In this paper the functional requirements of a B-ISDN access network based on MAN are investigated . Firstly, criteria of designing access network for the B-ISDN is studied. Secondly, the types of subscribers and their service requirements are defined. Thirdly, various artchitectures of CPNs(Customer Premises Networks) are considered and their characteristics are studied, Finally, the interworking funtions of a DQDB MAN as an access network are investigated.

      • TCP 트래픽의 성능 측정

        The performance evaluation of Internet traffics has been performed by factors such as RTT and packet loss. This individual evaluation method has some difficulties in determining service quality due to interoperations between those factors. This paper presents a hybrid performance evaluation formula for TCP traffics, which uses both RTT and packet loss. The formula has been defined by an interpretation model, which is derived from a TCP throughtput rate in congestion environment and a packet retransmission mechanism. The proposed formula has been applied to a data set collected from the KREN performance measure, and then has been shown to easily determine TCP performance variations. Thus, the proposed scheme can be used for a SLA monitoring system.
