Protein Profile in Corpus Luteum during Pregnancy in Korean Native Cows

Steroidogenesis requires coordination of the anabolic and catabolic pathways of lipid metabolism, but the profile of proteins associated with progesterone synthesis in cyclic and pregnant corpus luteum (CL) is not well-known in cattle. In Experiment 1, plasma progesterone level was monitored in cyclic cows (n = 5) and pregnant cows (n = 6; until d-90). A significant decline in the plasma progesterone level occurred at d-19 of cyclic cows. Progesterone level in abbatoir-derived luteal tissues was also determined at d 1 to 5, 6 to 13 and 14 to 20 of cyclic cows, and d-60 and -90 of pregnant cows (n = 5 each). Progesterone level in d-60 CL was not different from those in d 6 to 13 CL and d-90 CL, although the difference between d 6 to 13 and d-90 was significant. In Experiment 2, protein expression pattern in CL at d-90 (n = 4) was compared with that in CL of cyclic cows at d 6 to 13 (n = 5). Significant changes in the level of protein expression were detected in 32 protein spots by two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (2-DE), and 23 of them were identified by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS). Six proteins were found only in pregnant CL, while the other 17 proteins were found only in cyclic CL. Among the above 6 proteins, vimentin which is involved in the regulation of post-implantation development was included. Thus, the protein expression pattern in CL was disorientated from cyclic luteal phase to mid pregnancy, and alterations in specific CL protein expression may contribute to the maintenance of pregnancy in Korean native cows.

In this work, we present the comparison between d<SUB>31</SUB> and d<SUB>33</SUB> mode characterization using the PZT micro-actuator for large displacement. The PZT micro-actuator consisted of Si, PZT, and Pt layer on SOI wafer. The electrode shapes were laminated and interdigitated for d<SUB>31</SUB> and d<SUB>33</SUB> mode, respectively. In order to characterize the actuation mode, we measured the displacement using laser interferometer. The maximum displacement of d<SUB>31</SUB> mode was 12.2㎛ at 10V, the actuation characterization of d<SUB>31</SUB> was better than that of d<SUB>33</SUB> mode. We estimated that displacement of d<SUB>33</SUB> mode would be larger than that of d<SUB>31</SUB> above 30V.
Association of Sequence Variations in DGAT 1 Gene with Economic Traits in Hanwoo (Korea Cattle)

The effects of diacylglycerol O-acyltransferase (DGAT1) candidate gene polymorphism on the economic traits of Hanwoo were studied. Through sequencing analysis, two polymorphism sites at K232A and T11993C were established and were analyzed by PCR-RFLP. The PCR-RFLP analysis for K232A showed that the frequencies of alleles K and A were 0.75 and 0.25, respectively, and the frequencies of genotypes for K/K, K/A and A/A were estimated as 0.509, 0.491 and 0, respectively. In the PCR-RFLP analysis for T11993C, we found allele frequencies of 0.773 and 0.227 for T and A, respectively, and 0.546, 0.454 and 0 for the T/T, T/C and C/C genotype frequencies, respectively. No significant effects on economic traits in Hanwoo were found in the separate analysis of K232A and T11993C polymorphisms, but the interaction between K232A and T11993C showed a significant effect (p<0.005) on marbling score. The DGAT1 candidate gene was found to have a significant effect not only on milk yield and component traits but also on the metabolism of intramuscular fat.
NDIR식 마이크로 스펙트로미터 적외선 센서용 저응력 SiNx Membrance 상에서의 최적화된 Thermopile 제조 및 특성

Twenty four types of thermopile for micro spectrometer infrared sensors were fabricated on low-stress Si_(3)N_(4) membranes with 1.2㎛-thickness using MEMS technology. Thermopile were designed and fabricated for optimum conditions by five parameters of thermocouple numbers (16∼48), thermocouple line widths (10㎛∼25㎛), thermocouple lengths (100㎛∼500㎛), membrane areas (1^(2)㎟∼2.5^(2)㎟) and junction areas (150㎛^(2) 2∼750㎛^(2)), respectively. It was thought that measurement results could be used for thermopile infrared sensors optimum structure for micro spectrometers.
Light Induced Ferromagnetism of Nanocrystalline CuCr2Se4 Particles

A novel method to synthesize ternary chalcogenide nanoparticles was developed with microwaveassistedpolyol reaction in this study. Copper chloride, chromium acetate and metallic seleniumwere used as precursors with stoichiometric ratios in poly ethylene glycol. Magnetic moment ofCuCr2Se4 nanoparticles was measured from 300 to 750 K with external magnetic field of 500 Oein argon atmosphere and Curie temperature was calculated as 445 K. Nanocrystalline CuCr2Se4particles were dispersed in the matrix of light transparent resin so as to investigate light inducedeffect on the magnetic properties. Light illumination in an external magnetic field increased themagnetization and increment of magnetization (δJ) to initial magnetization (J) showed a maximumat 250 Gauss.
Some geometric properties of disk algebras

In this paper we study some geometrical properties of certain classes of uniform algebras, in particular the ball algebra A<SUB>u</SUB>(B<SUB>X</SUB>) of all uniformly continuous functions on the closed unit ball and holomorphic on the open unit ball of a complex Banach space X. We prove that A<SUB>u</SUB>(B<SUB>X</SUB>) has k-numerical index 1 for every k, the lushness and also the AHSP. Moreover, the disk algebra A(D), and more in general any uniform algebra whose Choquet boundary has no isolated points, is proved to have the polynomial Daugavet property. Most of those properties are extended to the vector valued version A<SUP>X</SUP> of a uniform algebra A.
