Association between urinary sodium levels and iodine status in Korea

Background/Aims: To evaluate the association between the urinary sodium concentration and iodine status in different age groups in Korea. Methods: This nationwide, population-based, cross-sectional study used data from the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (VI 2-3, 2014 to 2015). We included 3,645 subjects aged 10 to 75 years with normal kidney function and without a history of thyroid disease. Adequate iodine intake was defined as a urinary iodine/creatinine (I/Cr) ratio of 85 to 220 μg/g. The urinary sodium/ creatinine (Na/Cr) ratios were classified as low (< 47 mmol/g), intermediate (47 to 114 mmol/g), or high (> 114 mmol/g). Results: The median urinary iodine concentration (UIC) was 292 μg/L (interquartile range [IQR], 157 to 672), and the median urinary I/Cr ratio was 195 μg/g (IQR, 104 to 478). Iodine deficiency (< 100 μg/L) and iodine excess (> 300 μg/L) were observed in 11.3% and 49.0% of subjects, respectively. The UIC was significantly associated with the urinary sodium concentration, and the urinary I/Cr ratio was significantly correlated with the urinary Na/Cr ratio (both p < 0.001). The distributions of UIC, urinary I/Cr ratio, and Na/Cr ratio varied among age groups. Low urinary I/Cr and Na/Cr ratios were most common in young adults (age, 19 to 29 years), while high urinary I/Cr and Na/Cr ratios were most common in elderly people (age, 60 to 75 years). Conclusions: Iodine intake was significantly associated with sodium intake in the Korean population. Our study suggested that an adequately low salt intake might be helpful for preventing iodine excess in Korea.

이 논문은 1996년 1월부터 2002년 12원까지의 원별 통화량 자료를 사용하여 유선과 이동의 전화서비스에 대한 요금지수를 피셔의 방식에 근거하여 산정하고 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 요금지수 산정 결과. 시내전화의 명목지수는 완만히 상승하다가 최관 하락하는 추세를 보이고 있다. 반면, 시외전화와 M발신전화, 그리고 LM통화는 모두 명목과 실질요금지수가 하락하는 추세를 보이고 있는데, 이중 LM통화요금의 하락폭이 가장 것으로 나타나고 있다. 2002년 5월을 기준으로 할 때, 시내와 시외 및 공중시내전화를 통합한 LL통화에 대비한 LM과 M발신통화의 요금수준은 약 3배 정도로 나타났다. The purpose of this paper is to calculate and analyze the Fisher Price Index for the fixed and mobile telephony services, using monthly traffic data during January 1996 and December 2002 in Korea. It is shown that the nominal price index for local telephony has steadily increased then declined only recently. On the other hand, the indices for long-distance, mobile-originating calls and land-to-mobile call services show declining trends. The degree of price cut has been largest for land-to-mobile calls. In June 2002, the prices for mobile-originating calls and land-to- mobile calls were about three times of that of land-to-land-calls.

<P>The development of a transparent and stretchable electrode is critical to the realization of stretchable optoelectronic devices. In this study, a template-guided self-assembly is demonstrated for the integration of carbon nanotubes into 2D rhombic nanomesh films, where the deformation of the rhombic structure accommodates the strain, greatly improving the stretchability. In addition, the regular 2D nanomesh patterns greatly reduce the contact resistance and light scattering. Our rhombic carbon nanotube nanomesh films exhibited significantly lower sheet resistance (∼10 times) at a similar optical transmittance (78%), greater stretchability (∼8 times less resistance increase at 30% strain), and better mechanical durability (∼42 times less resistance increase after 500 stretching cycles at a strain of 30%) than those of random-network carbon nanotube films.</P>
Scalable Service Placement in the Fog Computing Environment for the IoT-Based Smart City

The Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the main enablers for situation awareness needed in accomplishing smart cities. IoT devices, especially for monitoring purposes, have stringent timing requirements which may not be met by cloud computing. This deficiency of cloud computing can be overcome by fog computing for which fog nodes are placed close to IoT devices. Because of low capabilities of fog nodes compared to cloud data centers, fog nodes may not be deployed with all the services required by IoT devices. Thus, in this article, we focus on the issue of fog service placement and present the recent research trends in this issue. Most of the literature on fog service placement deals with determining an appropriate fog node satisfying the various requirements like delay from the perspective of one or more service requests. In this article, we aim to effectively place fog services in accordance with the pre-obtained service demands, which may have been collected during the prior time interval, instead of on-demand service placement for one or more service requests. The concept of the logical fog network is newly presented for the sake of the scalability of fog service placement in a large-scale smart city. The logical fog network is formed in a tree topology rooted at the cloud data center. Based on the logical fog network, a service placement approach is proposed so that services can be placed on fog nodes in a resource-effective way.
음향효과에 의한 '각성-이완'이 뇌 기능 연결과 자율신경계 변화에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 '각성-이완'에 따른 뇌 기능 연결성과 자율신경계 변화를 분석하여 감성변화에 따른 생리매커니즘을 확인하였다. 20명의 피실험자를 대상으로 청각자극을 제시한 후, 중추신경계와 자율신경계 반응을 측정하였다. 그리고 자극 노출시간에 따른 뇌기능 연결성과 자율신경계의 변화를 확인하였다. 뇌 기능연결성 변화를 관찰하기 위하여 중추신경계에서 측정영역간 Coherence를 분석하였다. 자율신경계 변화는 심혈관계 반응(PPG frequency, PPG amplitude), 피부전기반응(GSR 평균), 피부온열반응(SKT 평균)을 분석하였다. 시간변화에 따른 분석을 위해서 중추신경계와 자율신경계 데이터는 10초 단위로 나누었다. 나뉘어진 데이터는 각 시간단위별로 t-Test하여 유의성을 검증하였다. 그리고 유의성이 나타난 결과만을 모아서 감성변화에 따른 생리매커니즘 패턴을 관찰하였다. 분석결과 이완시에 우측전두엽과의 뇌 기능연결성이 강해지고 이완시에는 뇌 기능 연결성이 약해지는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 이완시 자율신경계에서 PPG frequency가 감소하는 것을 확인하였다.

미 국방성에 의해 개발된 분산 시뮬레이션의 표준인 HLA(High Level Architecture)는 시뮬레이션의 상호 운용성과 재사용성을 촉진시키기 위해 DMSO가 제시한 시뮬레이션 구축기법의 표준안이며 IEEE에 의해 승인된 바 있다. HLA를 기반으로 하는 시뮬레이터를 설계하여 컴포넌트 단위의 작은 구조를 이용한 시뮬레이터의 구성이 가능해지며 이를 이용해 확장 가능하고 높은 재사용성을 가진 효율적 시뮬레이션 환경을 구성할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 HLA와 그 핵심 부분인 RTI(Run Time Infrastructure)상에서 통신망을 유연하게 시뮬레이션 할 수 있는 시뮬레이터의 구성 방법을 제시한다.
