Objectives : The water extract of Sopung-tang (SPT) has been traditionally used in the treatment of acute stroke in Oriental Medicine. Pro-inflammatory cytokines play a critical role in the onset of post-ischemic inflammatory cascades. The present study was designed to investigate the effects of SPT on pro-inflammatory cytokine production in a photothrombotic ischemia mouse model. Methods : After SPT oral administration to the mice for five days, with using Rose Bengal and cold light, photothrombotic ischemia lesion was induced in stereotactically held male BALB/c mice. Also, results including, gross finding lesion size, histopathological finding changes, and inflammatory cytokine expression changes from the photothrombotic ischemia mouse model were observed. Results : The photothrombotic ischemia lesion was decreased by the oral injection of SPT. Also, SPT inhibited the expression of TNF-$\alpha$, IL-$1{\beta}$, IL-6, the active form of caspase-3 protease, and transglutaminase-2 in the photothrombotic ischemia lesion. Conclusions : These results suggest that SPT protects the ischemic death of brain cells through suppression of the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines and catalytic activation of caspase-3 protease in the photothrombotic ischemia mouse model.

기업특성과 이익 및 이익구성요소의 가치관련성

This study investigates if the value relevance of earnings and its components varies depending on firm-specific factors such as earnings persistence, growth opportunities, systematic risk, financial leverage, and firm size. To test the existence of the effects on the value relevance of earnings and its components, we first estimate response coefficients of earnings and/or components of earnings using return or price model for the time series of each firm separately, and then regress them on firm-specific factors. The study shows the coefficients of earnings persistence and firm size are positive and significant. It suggests that earnings persistence and firm size have significant influences over the value relevance of earnings and its components. However, there is no evidence that response coefficients are affected by the factors such as growth opportunities, systematic risk and financial leverage. The results of this paper maintain the coherence regardless of the return or price model to estimate response coefficients of earnings and/or components of earnings. The results of this study suggest that the response of the stock market is not determined by the level of earnings and its components, but by the firm's circumstances and firm-specific factors. 본 연구는 이익 및 이익구성요소의 가치관련성이 기업특성 요인에 따라 달라질 수 있는지 여부를 검증하였다. 이를 검증하기 위하여, 먼저 1980년부터 2006년까지의 기간 동안 15년 이상 시계열 자료를 입수할 수 기업을 대상으로 기업별로 ERC와 이익구성요소에 대한 반응계수를 추정하였으며, 이 때 수익률모형과 주가모형을 대체적으로 사용하였다. 이렇게 추정된 각 반응계수를 이익지속성, 성장성, 체계적 위험, 재무레버리지 및 기업규모와 같은 기업특성 요인에 대해 회귀분석하였다. 분석결과는 이익지속성과 기업규모는 ERC 및 이익구성요소 반응계수와 유의한 양의 관련성이 있는 것으로 나타났는데, 이것은 이익지속성과 기업규모가 이익 및 이익구성요소의 가치관련성에 중요한 영향을 미치고 있다는 것을 의미한다. 이에 비하여, 성장성, 체계적 위험, 재무레버리지가 이익 및 이익구성요소의 가치관련성 에 영향을 미친다는 증거는 발견할 수 없었다. 이러한 분석결과는 ERC 및 이익구성요소 반응계수의 추정방법에 관계없이 일관성 있게 나타났다. 본 연구의 분석결과는 이익 및 이익구성요소에 대한 주식시장의 반응이 단순히 그 크기에 의해서만 결정되는 것이 아니라 기업이 처한 경제적 상황과 기업특성에 따라 달라진다는 것을 시사하고 있다.

이익관리검증방법의 평가 및 개발

이익관리에 대한 분석은 일반적으로 경영자가 재량적 발생조정을 사용하는지 여부에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 재량적 발생조정은 직접 관찰할 수 없기 때문에, 이들 연구들은 총발생조정을 재량적 발생조정과 비재량적 발생조정ㅇ로 분리해 주는 모형(발생조정모형)을 필요로 한다. 다라서 재량적 발생조정을 사용하여 이익관리를 탐지하려는 연구들의 능력은 발생조정모형의 타당성에 좌우된다. 선행연구에서 다양한 발생조정모형들이 개발되고 사용되어 왔으나, 이들 대체적인 모형의 타당성에 대한 체계적인 증거는 거의 없다. 본 연구는 선행에서 사용되어 온 발생조정모형의 통계적인 문제점을 조사하고, 이러한 문제점을 완화시킬 수 있는 가능한 대체안을 제시하였다. 본 연구에서 비교대상이 되는 발생조정모형은 DeAngelo모형, Jones모형, 수정된 Jones모형, Kasznik모형과 수정 KS모형이다. DeAngelo모형, Jones모형, 수정된 Jones모형과 Kasznik모형은 기존의 이익관리연구에서 가장 일반적으로 사용되어 온 것이라 할 수 있으며, 수정 KS모형은 기존의 모형들이 지니고 있는 문제점을 완화하기 위해 본 연구에서 도출한 모형이다.

이익관리연구에 관한 개관 : 1980-1990년대 연구를 중심으로

본 연구는 이익관리에 대한 증거와 그 증거가 회계연구자들에 대한 함의를 검토하고 이익관리에 대한 가능한 미래연구 분야를 개관한다. 전반적으로, 대부분의 선행연구들은 이익관리가 존재하는지의 여부와 이익관리가 행해지는 이유에 대해서만 초점을 맞추고 있다. 선행연구의 결과는 이익관리가 주식시장의 인지에 영향을 미치기 위하여, 경영자의 보상을 증가시키기 위하여, 차입계약의 위반가능성을 감소시키기 위하여, 그리고 규제적 개입을 회피하기 위한 목적 등을 포함한 다양한 동기에서 수행되고 있다는 것을 시사해 준다. 본 연구의 검토결과가 갖는 한가지 함의는 이익관리의 존재여부에 대한 보다 강력한 검정으로부터 얻어질 가능성은 적은 반면, 회계상의 재량이 이익관리에 얼마나 빈번하게 사용되는지 그리고 이러한 행위가 이익에 얼마나 많은 영향을 미치는지에 대한 연구에서 미래의 공헌점이 얻어질 것으로 생각된다. 또한, 경제에서 이익관리가 주가와 자원배분에 미치는 영향에 대한 상반된 결과를 더욱 일치시키는 것이 필요할 것으로 생각된다.

IR활동이 초과수익률 및 정보비대칭에 미치는 영향

본 연구의 목적은 IR활동이 시장참여자들 사이의 정보비대칭을 감소시키고 기업경영에 대한 신뢰도를 높여 줌으로써 궁극적으로 주가에도 긍정적인 영향을 미치는지를 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 IR활동을 전후한 기간에 초과수익률이 존재하는지 여부를 검증함으로써 IR활동이 기업 가치에 영향을 미치는지를 조사하고, 지속적인 IR활동이 정보비대칭을 감소시켜주는지 여부를 직접적으로 검증하였다. 분석결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, IR실시 이전기간의 CAAR는 통계적으로 매우 유의한 양(+)의 값을 보인 반면 그 직후에는 통계적 유의성이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 투자자들이 IR활동의 실시를 호재(good news)로 인식하고 있으며 그에 대한 기대효과로 주가가 상승한 후, IR실시 직후에는 그러한 사전적 기대효과가 조정되고 있음을 시사해준다. 둘째, 매수매도호가스프레드와 IR활동 누적횟수 사이에 통계적으로 유의한 음(-)의 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났는데 이는 지속적인 IR활동이 정보비대칭을 감소시키고 있음을 시사하는 것이다. 본 연구의 분석결과는 대체적인 검증기간(window period)에 관계없이 일관되게 나타났다. 그럼에도 불구하고 본 연구는 IR실시일을 사건일로 사용함으로써 관련 정보의 사전노출을 통제하지 못하고 그에 따라 IR활동의 정보효과를 정확하게 포착하지 못했을 수도 있다는 한계를 가지고 있다. 또한 IR활동으로 인한 기대효과는 장기간에 걸쳐 나타날 수도 있는데 본 연구에서는 비교적 단기간의 정보효과에만 초점을 맞추고 있다. 향후 IR활동의 장기적 성과에 대해서도 연구할 필요가 있을 것이다. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of corporate IR (Investor Relations) activities on stock prices and information asymmetry. By testing the existence of abnormal returns before and after IR, this study investigates how IR activities affect the firm value. Also this study empirically examines how the continuous IR activities can reduce the information asymmetry. The results of this paper are as follows: First, cumulative average abnormal returns (CAAR) are positive before IR but not after IR. It means that investors think IR activities as good news and it raises the stock prices, then after IR, ex ante expectation of IR is adjusted. Second, bid-ask spreads have a negative relation with the number of IR activities. It also means that continuous IR activities reduce the information asymmetry. The results of this paper maintain the coherence irrespective of the window period. But this paper can't control the ex ante disclosure of information because it only uses IR activities as an event. And it concentrates only on the short-term effect of IR. In the future, it needs to examine the long-term effect of IR.

무령왕비(武寧王妃) 두침(頭枕)에 그려진 어룡문(魚龍文)의 실체(實體)

武寧王妃의 頭枕에 장식된 魚龍文은 눈이 현저하게 돌출되어 있고, 배 지느러미가 ‘ㅅ’ 모양으로 갈라져 있다.배와 몸체의 비늘은 ‘U’자형으로 흘러내리며, 등 지느러미가 톱니처럼 뾰족하게 솟아 있다. 꼬리 지느러미는 두갈래로 갈라졌는데 한쪽 끝이 위로 길게 솟아 있다. 입에서는 꽃줄기가 자라고 꽃줄기의 끝에는 꽃봉오리가 맺혀있다.王妃 頭枕에 그려져 있는 魚龍의 도상적인 특징은 입에서 꽃줄기가 자라나고 그 끝에는 꽃봉오리가 맺혀있다는 것이다. 이 독특한 특징을 설명하는데 적합한 것은 고대 인도에서 성립한 마카라이다. 마카라는 경전을 통해 도상과 함께 그 의미가 전래된 것과 장식 문양으로서 도상만 전래되었을 뿐 문헌 기록을 통해 상징적인 의미가 전래되지 않은 것이 있다.武寧王妃 頭枕에 그려진 마카라는 후자의 경우 중에서도 생명의 근원을 의미하는 도상에 해당한다. 두침의 魚龍文이 마카라임은 명문으로 그 실체를 명확하게 확인할 수 있는 가마쿠라 시대의 聖曼陀羅 도상과의 양식 비교를 통해 재확인할 수 있다. 왕비 두침과 성만다라의 두 도상을 비교해 보면, 크게 벌린 입 안의 날카로운 이빨,날카롭게 곧추 선 등지느러미, 배 부분의 횡주름, 몸체의 비늘 표현과 돌고래처럼 두 갈래로 갈라진 꼬리 지느러미 등이 서로 일치함을 확인할 수 있다.이 마카라는 문헌 기록과 도상이 함께 전래된 7세기경의 한국 고대 마카라 장식 문양보다 1세기 이상 빠르게전래된 것으로 백제 사람들은 왕비가 죽은 다음에 정토에 화생하여 안락한 삶을 영위하기를 바라면서 이 그림을두침에 그렸던 것이다. 왕비 두침의 마카라는 국제적인 미술.문화의 교류 속에서 백제만의 독자적인 미의식이 융합되어 제작된 것이다. The head-rest(頭枕) found in the tomb of King Muryeong, which had belonged to the Queen, is ornamented with designs of fish-dragons whose eyes are significantly protruding and abdominal fins are divided in a "ㅅ" shape. The scales on the stomach and body flow downwards in a U-shaped pattern and the fins on the back are sharply raised like the teeth of a saw. The tail fins are split into two braids, the one end of which is raised upwards. A stem of a flower grows out of the mouth, and the end of the stem bears a flower bud. The iconic significance of the fish-dragon on the Queen`s head-rest lies in the bud-bearing flower stem that grows out of the mouth. This unique trait can be adequately explained with the Makara indigenous to ancient India. There are Makaras that were passed on via sutras that contain both their images and meanings, and there are also Makaras whose images were passed on as pattern designs and bereft of any text recordings of their significations. The Makara on the Queen`s head-rest is an example of the latter case, and in particular, one that signifies the origin of life. That the fish-dragon on the head-rest is a Makara, can be verified through comparison with the image of a Holy-Mandala(聖曼陀羅) of the Kamakura period, whose identity is clearly confirmed through its inscription. The images on the head-rest and the Mandala both have wide open mouths and sharp teeth, sharply protruding fins on the back, horizontal creases on the stomach, similarly expressed scales on the body, and tail fins that are split into two like dolphins. This Makara precedes, for more than a century, the ancient Korean Makara design of the 7A.D. that was passed on along with text records. The Baekje people drew this particular Makara on the head-rest, praying that the Queen leads a comfortable life in the Pure Land(淨土). The Makara on the Queen`s head-rest is a product of Baekje`s unique sense of beauty having been blended into the international exchange of art and culture.
