        In this study, authors measured the each organ weight of the long term water deprived Mongolian gerbil, after then we calculated the mean, standard deviation, variance coefficient of the real measured organ weight and induced the organ weight change quantity, rate of quantity, deviation between measured and theological organ weight, deviation rate, sum of deviation rate, organ weight change rate, rate of organ weight by the mathematical formula. The results obtained as follow 1. The weight of the brains, lung, and testis were abruptly decreased after water deprived until the 5th day, after then slowly decreased until the 20th day. 2. The weight of the heart was decreased gradually from the first day until the 20th day. 3. The weight of the liver was abruptly decreased until the 10th day, after then the more slowly decreased until the 20th day. 4. The weight of the thymus, spleen, kidney, and pancreas were abruptly decreased until the 15th day, after then increased slowly until 20th day but the weight of the kidney was abruptly increased from the 10th day. 5. The organ weight change rate and the rate of the each day organ weight were very diversified.

      • 忠南地域 屠畜豚의 肺病變으로부터 分離한 Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae의 生物學的 및 免疫學的 特性

        An epidemiologic study on pleuropneumonia in the slaughter pigs(Chonan and Asan area, Chungnam province, Korea) during the period of January 1994 through December 1995 was conducted. Isolation of A. pleuropneumoniae was attempted in 425 pigs with pneumonic lesions. Biochemical properties, antimicrobial susceptibility, serotypes and pathogenicity of A. pleuropneumoniae isolates were investigated. In addition, outer membrane protein(OMP) of the isolates were extracted to determine its properties and immunogenicity in both mice and piglets. Of 3,395 slaughter pigs, pleuropneumonia was observed in 425 pigs(10.6%). A. pleuropneumoniae was isolated from 22 pigs(5.2%) out of 425 pigs with pneumonic lesions. The biochemical properties of all isolates were same as those of reference A. pleuropneumoniae strain. Among 22 isolates, 9, 1 and 12 isolates were serovar 2, 3 and 5, respectively. The results of antimicrobial susceptibility test revealed that the isolates showed high susceptibility to ciprofloxacin and cephalothin, moderate susceptibility to amikacin, gentamicin, kanamycin and streptomycin, and low susceptibility to erythromycin, tylosin and sulfadimethoxin. The isolates were varied in pathogenicity to mice. Median lethal dose of LE9402(serovar 2) and LE9511(serovar 5) were 9.2×10^7CFU and 2.8×10^7CFU, respectively. Specific pneumonic lesions were observed from the infected mice with clinical signs. Bacteria recovery rate was high in the lung, but low in heart blood and tracheas. Serovar 2 was found to be more pathogenic than serovar 5 in guinea pig. Mortality on guinea pigs inoculated with serovar 2(5.4×10^8 - 5.4×10^6CFU) abd serovar 5(2.8×10^8 - 2.8×10^6CFU) was 20-40% and 40-80%, respectively. A severe hemorrhagic lesions and focal pneumonic lesions were observed from dead guinea pigs. Bacteria recovery rate was relatively higher in the lung than that of other organs. In the SDS-PAGE analysis, OMP-enriched fractions of both isolates and reference strains contain common peptide bands equivalent to molecular weight of 17, 27, 42, 52 and 95Kd. In addition to common peptide bands, the bands which are specific to each isolate were also observed. The profiles of Sephadex G25 fractions showed 3 major peaks. The common peptide bands which were observed by SDS-PAGE of the crude OMPs were found i the peaks 1 and 2. The OMPs extracted from serovar 2(LE9402) and serovar 5(LE9511) provided high level of protection in mice(70-80%) and pigs(100%). All animals inoculated with OMPs were seroconverted, showing micro-agglutination titer of 640 to 1280.

        A reaction between NaBH_4 and BCl_3 gas was carried out to find a new process for the synthesis of B_2H_6 gas. The optimum conditions for the synthesis of B_2H_6 gas were as follows : first step reaction temperature : 15∼25℃, BCl_3 mole ratio to NaBH_4 : 0.14, second step reaction temperature : 50℃, BCl_3 mole ratio to NaBH_4 : 0.19, amount of triglyme to 5g of NaBH_4 : 80㎖. Under above conditions, conversion and yield of B_2H_6 gas were 88.90% and 85.91% respectively.

      • 꼬리줄나비고기, Chaetodon wiebeli의 초기발생

        The development of eggs and larvae of the butterflyfish. Chaetodon wiebili were observed. Fertilized eggs were spherical. colorless. and driven into gelatinous masses. They measured 0.75±0.18 in diameter and not contain an oil globule. Hatching taken place 61.0 hours after two celled stage at water temperature 25.6-27.7℃. Newly hatched larvae measured 0.91 nm in total length and had an ovoid yolk of 0.65 nm in longest diameter. In 72 hours after hatching. the larvae grew 1.72 nm in total length. The mouth and anus were open and the melanophore pigments appeared above the eyes. The pectoral fins are formed and the larvae began to swim actively.

        응급실 전담의 상주가 심정지 환자의 소생에 미치는 영향

        Major factors influencing the outcome after cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) of cardiac arrest patients are the technique of CPR, response time and early defibrillation. Others like patient's characteristics and drugs used in resuscitation play minor role. To determine if the emergency physician affects the outcome of CPR, 318 consecutive victims with cardiac arrest who CPR were attempted in emergency room. The results were as follows : 1. The first group without emergency physician was 102 patients and the second group with emergency physician was 216 patients. 2. Among the factors affecting the outcome of CPR, patient's characteristics(sex, age, cause, injury severity score), prehospital factors(response time, use of ambulance, prehospital care) and the duration of CPR have no statistical differences between two groups. 3. Among the prehospital cardiac arrest patients and whom arrested in emergency room, use of defibrillation does not showed statistical differences between two groups. 4. The statistically significant factors(p<0.05) between two groups were initial defibrillation energy, defibrillation frequency and drugs like epinephrine, atropine and lidocaine. These results were similar among the prehospital, in-emergency room and the total cardiac arrest patients. 5. The outcome of CPR showed no significant differences on prehospital cardiac arrest patients analysis of all the data, there were no significant factors affecting the outcome of the CPR except the role of emergency physician. 6. Low survival rate(1.9%) on group Ⅱ, reflect the lacking of other important factors affecting the CPR other than emergency personnel. In conclusion, the involvement of full time emergency physician on CPR is an important factors in resuscitation of arrested patients in emergency room.

      • [논문]해석방법에 따른 사각 RC 라멘교의 거동

        본 연구에서는 사각(900°~450°) RC 라벤교를 2차원 보해석과 3차원 판해석으로 해석하였다. 연구 결과로부터 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 슬래브 지점부의 단면력 집중에 따라,3차원 판해석에 의한 단면력은 2차원 보해석의 단면력보다 1.015~1.830배 크게 나타났다. 따라서 슬래브 지점부의 철근 보강 영역은 경사폭의 0.11~0.30배로 나타났다. 슬래브 최대 정모멘트 발생각과 라멘교 사각과의 상관관계를 살펴보면, 라벤교 사각 900° ~45°에 대하여 최대 정모벤트 발생각은 93° ~ 51°로 나타났다. 따라서 라벤교의 주인장 철근 이음장 위치는 최대 정모맨트 발생 구역 밖에들도록 해야한다.

      • 명주고둥, Chlorostoma xanthostigma의 생식주기

        Reproductive cycle of the top shell, Chlorostoma xanthostigma was investigated histologically to know it's gonadal development using gonadosomatic index (GSI). Samples were collected at the coastal area of Hamdok in Cheju-Do from October. 1995 to August, 1996. The top shell. C. xanthostigma. appeared to be dioecious. neither sex reversal nor hermaphroditic. The sex ratio was approximately 1 : 1. The gonad was located on the surface of the intestinal gland in the posterior spiral meat part of the shell. In male and female, GSI began to increase from April when water temperature increased and reached it's maximum value in July. It began to decrease August thereafter, maintained relatively low value until March. The annual reproductive cycle of this species could be classified into five successive developmental stage: multiplication stage (January to March), growing stage (February to June). mature and spent stage (April to July), degenerative stage (August to January) and recovery stage (October to February). The spawning of the top shell occurred from April to July and the main spawning period appeared in July.

        흰쥐에 있어서 Ethanol과 Phenobarbital이 트리클로로에틸렌 대사에 미치는 영향

        Trichloroethylene is widely used for organic solvent in many industries. There are many workers who are exposed to trichloroethylene in Korea. If workers are exposed to trichloroethylene after ingestion of ethanol or phenobarbital, there might be an increased risk of toxicity due to combined exposures of chemicals. This study was performed to find out the influences of ethanol and phenobarbital on the levels of trichloroethylene in rats. Trichloroethylene was administered orally at the doses of 150, 750, 1,500, and 3,000mg/kg after pretreatment of 4g/kg ethanol or 80mg/kg phenobarbital. Trichloroethylene in blood was not detected at 12 hours after oral administration of trichloroethylene. Administered amount of trichloroethylene and its total blood concentration had a positive relationship. The level of blood trichloroethylene was decreased faster in ethanol and phenobarbital pretreated groups than in the control group. Amounts of urinary free trichloroethanol were larger at the doses of 150, 750, and 1,500mg/kg of trichloroethylene with pretreated phenobarbital group than in the control group. Total amounts of urinary conjugated trichloroethanol were larger in pretreated ethanol and phenobarbital groups than in the control group. In the phenobarbital pretreated group, there was a increasing tendency of excertion of urinary trichloroacetic acid. These results showed that intake of ethanol and phenobarbital may alter the metabolism of trichloroethylene in rats.

        외상 환자의 세포 면역학적 변화

        Thirty trauma patients admitted to our emergency center had lymphocyte phenotypic subsets characterized throughout hospital course. The immunosuppressive disease and CNS injury patients were exclude. There was no mortality in our studied cases. T-lymphocyte(CD-3), T helper(CD-4), T suppressor(CD-8) and B-lymphocyte(CD-19) were quantified by monoclonal antibodies and flowcytometric analysis. Results were analyzed on the day of admission 1st day, 2nd day, 4th day and 8th day among three groups: Injury severity score(ISS) below 15(n=10), 15-25(n=10), over 25(n=10). The patients were compared to 20 healthy controls. The immunologic depression was maximal on 2nd day and nearly recovered on 8th day. ISS over 25 group was most significantly depressed in all subset of T- lymphocyte, but ISS 15-25 group was slightly depressed less than ISS below 15 group. The B-lymphocyte was changed in similar pattern like as all subset of each ISS group, but the initial B-lymphocyte slightly increased comparing controls. Therefore the immunologic depression is affected by severity of trauma, and the severe and mild depression of immune system is included. The patterns of immune depression of T-lymphocyte and its subset were double peak in mild and severe trauma patients. The B-lymphocyte is stimulated in severe trauma patients during the initial stage of injury.
