TFSCAN 검색 프로그램 TFSCAN의 개발

TFD는 기능이 알려진 짧은 DNA sequence(signal)들과 그와 연관된 저널 자료로 구성된 데이타베이스이다. 임의의 DNA에서 이 데이타베이스의 sequence들을 검색하여 signal을 찾는 프로그램으로 Dan S. Prestridge가 개발한 SIGNAL SCAN이라는 프로그램이 사용되고 있는데, 이는 간단한 문자열 비교 알고리즘을 사용한다. 본 연구에서는 계산상 보다 효율적인 검색을 위해서, TFD의 sequence를 검색하기 위한 automata를 구성하는 프로그램과, 이 automata에 따라 signal을 검색하도록 하는 TFSCAN이라는 프로그램을 개발하였다. 검색된 signal에 대한 관련 문헌의 검색에서도 인덱싱 방법을 이용하여 계산 속도를 향상시켰다. 프로그램의 사용을 단순화시켰고, 결과 내용을 signal과 관련된 모든 정보를 일목요연하게 보여줄 수 있도록 구성하였다. 이 프로그램을 Web을 통해서도 사용할 수 있도록, GINet Web 서버에 TFSCAN 입력용 form과 CGI 프로그램을 개발·설치하였다. 본 연구의 특정 Motif 패턴으로 구성된 데이타베이스 검색에서, automata를 응용한 알고리즘을 이용하여 계산상 급격히 향상된 결과를 얻을 수 있음을 알 수 있었는데, 이는 생물학의 여러 패턴 검색에 응용될 수 있을 것이다. 더욱 민감한(sensitive) signal 검색을 위해서, 이와 같이 automata를 활용하고, 이 automata를 최적화하는 알고리즘 연구를 계속하고 있다. TFD is a transcription factor database which consists of short functional DNA sequences called as signals and their references. SIGNAL SCAN, developed by Dan S. Prestridge, is used to determine what signals of TFD may exist in a DNA sequence. This program searches TFD database by using a simple algorithm for character string comparison. We developed TFSCAN that aims at searching for signals in an input DNA sequence more efficently than SIGNAL SCAN. Our algorithms consist of two parts, one constructs an automata by scanning sequences of TFD, the other searches for signals through this automata. Searching for signal-related references is radically improved in time by using an indexing method. Usage of TFSCAN is very simple and its output is obvious. We developed and installed a TFSCAN input form and a CGI program in GINet Web server, to use TFSCAN. The algorithm applying automata showed drastical results in improvement of computing time. This approach may apply to recognizing several biological patterns. We have been developing our algorithm to optimize the automata and to search more sensitively for signals.

구강내 악성흑색종에 대한 임상연구

The prognosis of oral malignant melanoma is poor compared with cutaneous melanoma. It may be related to the difficulty of wide enough resection, the early hematogenous matastases, higher stage at initial diagnosis, tendency to growth vertically. In the view of histological differences between oral mucosa and skin, it is impossible use Clark’s and Breslow’s classifications for prognosis. The great problem is that there is still no consensus on the treatment due to rarity. Because data collection from case reports is considered to be the best source of information and should be pooled to anlalyze key determinants of outcome, We reported on 6 cases of primary malignant melanoma of the oral cavity which were diagnosed and treated in Pusan National University Hospital recently and reviewed the literature. Immunohistochemical study on S100 Protein, GP 100 (HMB-45) with biopsy was usable to confirm the melanoma. Neck dissection including wide excision is recommended if lymph node involvement is suspected. Additionally, adjuvant chemotherapy could be supporting therapy.

MR Spectroscopy로 진단한 Leigh 병 1례

Leigh syndrome is a progressive and degenerating central nerve system disease with symmetrically localized necrotic changes on the both gray and white matter, called subacute necrotizing encephalopathy. The causes of this disease have been revealed that defect of various enzymes (pyruvate dehydrogenase, repiratory complex Ⅰ, Ⅳ, Ⅴ, etc.)related to mitrochondrial carbonate metabolism and energy generating mechanisms. The clinical course is variable, and symptoms such as non-specific- seizure, respiratory failure, nystagmus, decreased muscle tone, developmental delay, vomiting and lethargy etc. appeared. And the diagnostic tool is not clear, so the diagnosis is difficult. Brain MRI and MR spectroscopy have been used to diagnose Leigh syndrome. We experienced 1 case of Leigh syndrome with typical MR, MR spectroscopic findings. MRI shows the lesions on midbrain, both basal ganglia, caudate nucleus, putamen, periaqueductal area, and periventricular white matter. MR spectroscopic findings showing high lactate peak were appropriate to Leigh disease. The patient is a 16-month-old girl with generalized weakness, and died within 1 month after first admission on our hospital. We report this case with typical MR spectroscopic findings.

음경에 발생한 기저세포암 1예

Basal cell carcinoma is the most common malignant skin cancer in Korea. The lesions are most frequently found in the head and neck region. But penile basal cell carcinoma is very rare and there are only 29 other reported cases. We report a rare case of basal cell carcinoma of the penis in a 76-year-old man. He had a well circumscribed 1.3㎝×1.3㎝ thick scaly plaque with central ulcer in right penile root area for 4 years. The lesion was completely excised and no recurrence for four months. Superficial venous thrombosis of the chest wall was first described by Mondor in 1939. Braun-Falco reported in 1955 superficial penile vein involvement in diffuse thrombophlebitis of the abdominal wall and in 1958 Helm and Hodge first described isolated superficial dorsal penile vein thrombosis. Since then, fewer than 50 cases have been reported. The clinical presentation is usually redness and swelling of the dorsum of the penis, accompanied by a palpable, tender thrombotic vein. This acute and painful disease frightens the patients, who is concerned about his fertility and sexual function. The main cause of this disease is frequent sexual intercourse. Diagnosis is based upon anamnesis, physical examination and penile sonography with color Doppler imaging. It is usually a benign disease which resolves quickly under appropriate medical therapy. We present a man who was visited for this condition and was conservatively treated.

We start with an introduction of main concepts of cryptology, cryptography and their history briefly. Cryptology and cryptography which is based on algebra and number theory are very importatant in computer science, eigineering, education and mathematics. The purpose of this paper is to study of DES (data encryption standard) cryptosystem, in particular Caesar cryptosystem, and ARS (Adelman, Rivest and Shamir) cryptosystem. Next we make out cipher texts with encryptions in their cryptosystems and then find plain texts using decryptions.

부동산투자에 있어서 Limited Partnership 제도의 도입에 관한 연구

The limited partnership is a kind of the partnership composed of general partners and limited partners. The general partner manages the partnership exclusively but has unlimited liability, the limited partner doesn't participate in managing the partnership but has limited liability. In America, the limited partnership is an useful instrument of investment in real estate because it has merits as follows : First, investors can choice whether they has limited liability or not for themselves. Second, an expert who has a management skill can be a general partner and control partnership exclusively. Third, double taxation is exclusive. Last, in the case of stock issued for property, taxation for capital gain is deferred. We need to introduce limited partnership for efficiency of real estate investment like American. In the first place, it is advisable to interpolate clauses for limited partnership in Real Estate Investment Corporation Act.

간장에서 분리한 fibrin 용해균주의 동정 및 특성

A bacterium having a large of fibrinolytic activity, K2-10 strain, was screened and selected from traditional soy sauce. The selected bacterium was identified and named as Bacillus sp. K2-10. The composition of the medium used for the production of the fibrinolytic enzyme by Bacillus sp. S7-16 was 0.5% polypeptone, 0.5% yeast extract, 0.3% sodium chloride, 0.1% KH_2PO_4, 0.3% K_2HPO_4, and 0.01% MgSO_4·7H_2O. The optimum temperature and initial pH of the medium for the production of the enzyme were 35℃ and p11 from 6.5 to 7.0, respectively. The maximum production of the fibrinolytic enzyme was obtained after 36 hours of the incubation. During culture under the above conditions, the culture supernatant showed strong fibrinolytic activity
