        Anti-fouling characteristic of carbon nanotubes hollow fiber membranes by filtering natural organic pollutants

        Membrane fouling is a universal problem for conventional membrane filtration that usually causes a deterioration in membrane performance. We used electro-assisted carbon nanotubes hollow fiber membranes (CNTs-HFMs) to investigate the anti-fouling properties using natural organic pollutants. Benefiting from the electro-assistance, the permeation flux of humic acid solution using CNTs-HFMs was 190.20 L/(m2·h·bar), which was about 1.5- and 4.4- times higher than those of CNTs-HFMs without electro-assistance and traditional polyvinylidene fluoride hollow-fiber membranes (PVDF-HFMs). And the permeation fluxes of bovine serum albumin, sodium alginate and supernatant of anaerobic bioreactor also presented similar results. The average COD removal rate of CNTs-HFMs (66.8%) at 1.0 V was higher than that of CNTs-HFMs without electro-assistance and PVDF-HFMs, which can be attributed to the formation of electrostatic repulsive force. It could reduce the deposition of pollutants on membrane surface under electroassistance.

      • Two-sided Matching Decision under Multi-granularity Uncertain Linguistic Environment

        With respect to the two-sided matching problem, where the agents’ preferences are in the format of multi-granularity uncertain linguistic terms, a matching method is proposed. Some basic concepts and definitions on uncertain linguistic term and 2-tuple are firstly given. Based on this, the two-sided matching problem with multi-granularity uncertain linguistic terms is described. Then, multi-granularity uncertain linguistic term matrixes are transformed into multi-granularity 2-tuple matrixes. Furthermore, a multi-objective optimization model is developed by using the extended 2-tuple weighted average. By using the normalization method and the linear weighted method twice, the multi-objective optimization model can be converted into a single-objective optimization model. By solving the model, the matching alternative can be obtained. Example of matching demand and supply in agricultural knowledge illustrates the feasibility and effectiveness of this method.

        외국인 유학생의 전자우편 분석 연구

        본 연구는 한국어 전자우편 쓰기의 중요성을 강조하고 외국인 유학생들의 전자우편에 나타난 특성을 살피는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 외국인 유학생들이 학교와 일상생활에서 관계 맺는 다양한 부류의 사람을 대상으로 쓴 전자우편 112편을 구조와 표현적 측면에서 분석하였다. 구조적 측면에서 분석한 결과 외국인 유학생들의 전자우편에는 제목을 쓰지 않거나 서론과 결미 부분에서 인사말과 보내는 이의 서명을 생략하는 경우가 있었고, 사연 부분에서는 화용적 기능에 따라 나타난 구조가 학습자 별로 너무 다양하여 전자우편 쓰기라는 장르에 대한 지식이 보편화되지 못하였음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 표현적 측면에서 높임법의 사용은 선어말어미의 활용이 압도적으로 많은 반면 오류는 조사의 사용에서 가장 많이 나타났고, 다양한 결속기제가 사용되고 있었으나 구와 문장 간의 결속력을 확보하는 데 실패하는 경우가 많았으며, 첫인사와 끝인사에서 관용적인 표현을 활용하고자 하였으나 그러한 표현이 정확한 인사로 이어지지 못하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 실제적인 전자우편 쓰기에서의 특성 및 문제점을 파악하여 한국어 쓰기 교육에 유용한 교육 자료로 활용할 수 있다는 점에서 의의를 가진다. The purpose of this research is to emphasize the significance of email writing in the Korean language. It has been carried out by observing the features shown in the emails of overseas students. To attain this aim, a thorough analysis has been conducted on the structure and expression level of 112 emails written by overseas students in their efforts to establishing relationship with various people in their daily school lives. The results of the analysis on the structural level show that certain items are found missing in the emails written by overseas students, such as a lack of titles or introduction in the beginning of the email, as well as no greeting words and signature at the end. Various structures are presented in accordance with the function of the text in the body part. Moreover, skills on email writing have not been popularized yet and complement suffix is very flexible in the use of honorifics at the expression level. However, most mistakes take place in the use of auxiliary words. Though lots of conjunctions are used, there is also an abundance in incorrectly joining phrases and sentences, such as the common expressions of first-time greetings and end greetings. Those ways of expressions, however, cannot form fluent and accurate greetings. This research probes into the features and crucial points of real-time email writing. It constitutes useful teaching materials and has great importance in teaching Korean writing in the future.

        A Whole-Tumor Histogram Analysis of Apparent Diffusion Coefficient Maps for Differentiating Thymic Carcinoma from Lymphoma

        Objective: To assess the performance of a whole-tumor histogram analysis of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps in differentiating thymic carcinoma from lymphoma, and compare it with that of a commonly used hot-spot region-of-interest (ROI)-based ADC measurement. Materials and Methods: Diffusion weighted imaging data of 15 patients with thymic carcinoma and 13 patients with lymphoma were retrospectively collected and processed with a mono-exponential model. ADC measurements were performed by using a histogram-based and hot-spot-ROI-based approach. In the histogram-based approach, the following parameters were generated: mean ADC (ADCmean), median ADC (ADCmedian), 10th and 90th percentile of ADC (ADC10 and ADC90), kurtosis, and skewness. The difference in ADCs between thymic carcinoma and lymphoma was compared using a t test. Receiver operating characteristic analyses were conducted to determine and compare the differentiating performance of ADCs. Results: Lymphoma demonstrated significantly lower ADCmean, ADCmedian, ADC10, ADC90, and hot-spot-ROI-based mean ADC than those found in thymic carcinoma (all p values < 0.05). There were no differences found in the kurtosis (p = 0.412) and skewness (p = 0.273). The ADC10 demonstrated optimal differentiating performance (cut-off value, 0.403 x 10-3 mm2/s; area under the receiver operating characteristic curve [AUC], 0.977; sensitivity, 92.3%; specificity, 93.3%), followed by the ADCmean, ADCmedian, ADC90, and hot-spot-ROI-based mean ADC. The AUC of ADC10 was significantly higher than that of the hot spot ROI based ADC (0.977 vs. 0.797, p = 0.036). Conclusion: Compared with the commonly used hot spot ROI based ADC measurement, a histogram analysis of ADC maps can improve the differentiating performance between thymic carcinoma and lymphoma.

        Development of a universal plate-agglutination test for detecting Haemophilus parasuis

        Due to the serovar diversity in Haemophilus (H.) parasuis, it is difficult to develop a universal serological method for detection of this pathogen. Here, we report a universal plate-agglutination test for detecting H. parasuis. Diagnostic antisera were prepared by mixing antisera of serovars 4, 5, 12, 13 and 14 in the optimized ratio. The results of the plate-agglutination test showed that the diagnostic antisera could agglutinate with all 15 reference strains of H. parasuis and 74/75 clinical isolates. Further, the specificity of the method was validated with 22 bacterial strains from 12 related species.

        A Theoretical Method to Predict Crack Initiation in Stabilizing Piles

        Stabilizing pile is a kind of underground structure, in which the crack initiation on the pile shaft is more dangerous than the crackon the interior concrete structure. A crack discriminant in displacement form was deduced by introducing the subgrade reactionmethod and reinforced concrete theory, in which the head displacement of stabilizing pile was the main parameter. Therefore, thehead displacement of stabilizing pile in critical state of cracking (critical head displacement) can be obtained according to the crackdiscriminant. Subsequently, the predicting crack initiation in stabilizing pile could be achieved by comparing measured headdisplacement with critical head displacement of the stabilizing pile. The crack discriminant was tested and verified in Hongyanlandslide project, Zhejiang province, China. Based on the field measurements at Hongyan landslide project, some stabilizing pileswere critically stressed to initiate the crack.

      • Semaphoring mAb: a New Guide in RIT in Inhibiting the Proliferation of Human Skin Carcinoma

        Semaphoring is a transmembrane receptor which participates in many cytokine-mediated signal pathways that are closely related to the angiogenesis, occurrence and development of carcinoma. The present study was designed to access the effect of mono-antibody (mAb) guided radioimmunotherapy (RIT) on skin carcinoma and investigate the potential mechanisms. Semaphoring mAb was acquired from mice (Balb/c), purified with rProtein A column; purity, concentration and activity were tested with SDS-PAGE and indirect ELISA; specificity and expression on the cutanuem carcinoma line and tissue were tested by Western blotting; morphology change was assessed by microscopy. MTT assay and colony inhibition tests were carried out to test the influence on the proliferation of tumor cells; Western blotting was also carried out for expression of apoptosis-associated (caspase-3, Bax, Bcl-2) and proliferation-related (PI3K, p-Akt, Akt, p-ERK1/2, ERK1/2) proteins and analyse the change in signal pathways (PI3K/Akt and MEK/ERK). The purity of purified semaphorin mAb was 96.5% and the titer is about $1{\times}10^6$. Western blotting showed semaphoring mAb to have specifically binding stripes with semaphoring b1b2 protein, B16F10, and A431 cells at 39KDa, 100KDa and 130KDa, respectively. Positive expression was detected both in cutanuem carcinoma line and tissue and it mostly located in cell membranes. MMT assay revealed dose-relate and time-relate inhibitory effect of semaphorin mAb on A431 and B16F10. Colony inhibition tests also showed dose-relate inhibitory effects. Western blotting demonstrated the expression of apoptosis and proliferation-related protein and changes in signal pathway. In conclusion, we demonstrated that semaphorin is highly expressed on the tumor cell-surfaces and RIT with semaphorin mAb has effect in i nhibiting proliferation and accelerating apoptosis of tumor cells.
