Human lipocortin-I (LCI) is a calcium ion-dependent and phospholipid-binding protein which exhibits an anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting phospholipase A₂ activity. In this study, the LCI gene containing its own terminator region was joined to GAL10 promoter-ppL (prepro-leader sequence of mating factor a). An ATG start codon of LCI gene was placed at downstream with KR endoprotease recognition site (Lys-Arg) of ppL. Recombinant S. cerevisiae harboring the LCI expression/secretion vector, pYGLPT5, was aerobically grown on a liquid YPDG medium at 30℃ for 72hrs. The whole cell and culture supernatant were separated after centrifugation, and the expressed LCI was analyzed by SDS-PAGE and western blotting methods. A majority fraction of the expressed LCI was found to be accumulated in the intracellular fraction, resulting in very low secretion efficiency of about 7.4%. About 500mg/ℓof LCI was extracellularly produced by the fed-batch culture employing the controlled-feeding of glucose and galactose. The secreted LCI was purified by ultrafiltration and hydroxylapatite column chromatography, and a purity of more than 99% was obtained.
PP/MMT 나노복합재료의 열안정성 및 기계적 계면 특성에 관한 연구

본 연구에서는 몬모릴로나이트(Na^(-)-montmorillonite, MMT)를 dodecylammonium chloide로 유기적 개질하여 폴리프로필렌(PP) 나노복합재료의 열안정성과 기계적 계면 물성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 나노복합재료의 구조 및 표면 특성은 각각 XRD와 FT-IR을 통해 알아보았고, 열안정성은 TGA를 통해 알아보았으며, 주조된 시편의 기계적 계면 물성은 K_(IC)와 G_(IC)를 통해 알아보았다. 실험 결과, dodecylammonium chloide을 이용한 MMT의 유기적 개질(DA-MMT)은 약 7.3 Å의 실리케이트 층간을 증가시켰고, DA-MMT 내의 CH_(2) 기에 의해 2800~2900 ㎝^(-1)에서 새로운 피크가 나타났다. PP/DA-MMT 나노복합재료의 열안정성은 순수한 PP 수지에 비해 향상되었는데, 이는 DA-MMT 입자와 PP 사이의 분자간 상호작용에 의한 것으로 판단된다. 또한, PP/DA-MMT 나노복합재료가 높은 기계적 계면 물성을 나타냈는데, 이러한 결과는 층간이 증가된 실리케이트에 PP가 쉽게 삽입되기 때문으로 판단된다. In this work. the effect of organic modification of Na-montmorillonite (MMT) with dodecylammonium chloride on thermal stabilities and mechanical interfacial properties of PP nanocomposites was investigated. The structure and surface properties of the nanocomposites were determined by XRD and FT-IR, respectively. The thermal stabilities of the nanocomposites were studied using a TGA analysis. Also, the mechanical interfacial properties were confirmed by KIC and GIC of casting specimens. As a result, the organic modification of MMT by dodecylammonium chloride(DA-MMT) led to the increase of the silicate layers to about 7.3 A, and the new peaks at 2800∼2900 cm^(-1) hand were shown in the presence of the CH groups on the DA-MMT. The thermal stahilities of PP/DA-MMT nanocomposites were higher than that of pure PP resin, which can be attributed to the increase of intermolecular interaction between DA-MMT particles and PP matrix. Also, the PP/DA-MMT nanocomposites had higher mechanical interfacial properties than those of pristime nanocomposites. These results explained that the pp was easily inserted in the spacing of the silcate interlayers of which were increased.

With the increase of the use of antibiotics and invasive procedures, infections caused by multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii(MRAB) are increasing. We screened the antibiotic producing strain B-51 for antibacterial activity against MRAB from the soils and studied the effects of culture medium on the antibiotic production of B-51. The medium conditions for maximum antibiotic productivity of B-51 was 2% glycerol, 0.5% soybean meal, 0.01% CaCl2, 0.01% MgSO4,7H2O and 0.01% KH2PO4 at an initial pH of 6.0, at 30℃ for 76 h.

N/A Objectives: The construction and maintenance of vascular access are essential in patients with end stage renal disease(ESRD) on chronic hemodialysis. So, the complications of vascular access are significant causes of morbidity and inadequacy of hemodialysis. The current study was undertaken to provide an estimate of the magnitude of the problem of access-related morbidity and to explore the relationship of sex, age, and underlying cause of renal failure as risk factors for vascular complications. Methods: We observed vascular access-related hospitalization, access complications, and sex, age, and underlying cause of renal failure as risk factors on 167 ESRD patients who have received maintenance hemodialysis between January 1983 and June 1993 at the National Medical Center. A univariate survival analysis of time to vascular access-related hospitalization was carried out for each of the risk factors under study, that is, sex, age, and underlying cause of renal failure. Kaplan-Meier survival curves were generated for categorized levels of each variable and compared using the log rank test. Results: 1) The vascular access-related hospitalization occupied 16.5% of all hospital stays and the mean length of hospital stays was 12.4 days. 2) The thrombosis occurred in 82.8% of all access complications. The formation of new vascular access was performed in 69.0% of vascular access-related morbidity. 3) The cumulative 1 year, 2 year, 3 year, 5 year, and 10 year survival rates of vascular access were 89.2%, 83.8%, 75.5%, 67.2%, and 53.2%, respectively, The cumulative survival rate of vascular access in women was lower significantly than in men. It was also lower significantly in diabetics than in other diseases including glomerulonephritis. But, age was not statistically correlated with vascular access survival. Conclusion: The complications of vascular access cause increase in hospitalization among ESRD patients, and women and diabetics apperar to be at particularly high risk. Additional studies on the risk factors for vascular access morbidity are needed to manage vascular access more carefully in ESRD patients on chronic hemodialysis.

<P><B>Background</B></P><P>The Korean National Diabetes Program (KNDP) cohort study is performing an ongoing large-scale prospective multicenter investigation to discover the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes in Korean patients. This study was performed to examine the prevalence of chronic complications in patients with type 2 diabetes among those registered in the KNDP cohort within the past 4 years.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>This study was performed between June 2006 and September 2009 at 13 university hospitals and included 4,265 KNDP cohort participants. Among the participants, the crude prevalence of microvascular and macrovascular diseases of those checked for diabetes-related complications was determined, and the adjusted standard prevalence and standardization of the general population prevalence ratio (SPR) was estimated based on the 2005 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) population demographics.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Among the KNDP registrants, 43.2% had hypertension, 34.8% had dyslipidemia, 10.8% had macrovascular disease, and 16.7% had microvascular disease. The SPR of the KNDP registrants was significantly higher than that of the KNHANES subjects after adjusting for demographics in the KNHANES 2005 population. However, with the exception of cardiovascular disease in females, the standardized prevalence for the most complicated items in the survey was significantly higher than that in the KNHANES subjects.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>The prevalence of macrovascular disease and peripheral vascular disease were significantly higher in Korean patients with type 2 diabetes than in the normal population. However, no significant difference was noted in the prevalence of cardiovascular disease in females.</P>
만성경막하혈종 환자에서 혈종 및 혈장의 삼투압과 삼투압에 관여하는 인자에 대한 연구

Fourty six patient with chronic subdural hematoma(CSDH) were managed by simple closed drainage between January 1987 and January 1990. The osmolarity and its factors of fluid from CSDH were compared to that of simultaneously drawn venous blood in patients. The results were as follows : 1) The values of K^(+) and albumin of the hematoma fluid were significantly higher than that of hematoma fluid(P<0.05). 2) Osmolarities of the hematoma fluid were higher than that of venous blood(P<0.01). 3) Osmolarity, K^(+) and albumin showed linear relationship between hematoma fluid and venous blood(P<0.01).
대전지역 식당내 ETS 농도 및 실내환경에 대한 관능 조사

A survey of the questionnaire on the indoor air quality and concentration level of environmental tobacco smoke in six restaurants are described. Median level of nicotine were 5.76 ㎍/m3, RSP were 117.84 ㎍/m3 of indoor air field. Compared to concentration of major ETS markers on the central position and entrance gate position in the restaurants. The central position was more than highly level of nicotine 1.5 ㎍/m3, RSP 25 ㎍/m3 respectively. Cigarette equivalent exposures calculated from results of in this study were 2.7 cig/year as RSP, 1.6 cig/year as nicotine, 0.9 cig/year as solanesol. This calculation assumes now properly scales the exposure perspective for ETS exposure of smokers relative to non-smoker. Public attitudes toward indoor air quality of restaurants were low acceptability and have a negative opinion on the odor of environment condition.
