For production of 6-aminopenicillanic acid by enzymatic hydrolysis of benzylpenicillin, two-stage continuous stirred tank enzyme reactor system was evaluated. Using proper mathematical model of the reaction kinetics and kinetic constants of soluble and immobilized forms of penicillin amidohydrolase, the reactor system was simulated with an aid of a computer and a set of optimum operating conditions was found. In comparison with the single stage system, the productivity of the two-stage enzyme reactor system was 50% higher than that of the single stage system under the same operating conditions. For the industrial applications, the reactor system using immobilized penicillin amidohydrolase was found to be far more advantageous in terms of productivity than that using soluble enzyme because of the reduced inhibitory effect of the product, 6-aminopenicillanic acid, on the immobilized enzyme as compared to the same effect on the soluble enzyme.

Since the Industrial revolution, the physical sensation and perception system has been changed with the development of a variety of media through the progressive technology and materials. Instead of the traditional visual-focused hierarchy, the importance of diverse perception is emphasized and the new sensibility lists are appeared such as the vision based on touch. The concept of Pixel is actively using in the field of modern architecture. Representation of digital technology in construction and pixels using the characteristics tend to build a new surface appears, and the perceptual experience of a wide variety of these surfaces as an important means to create the effect has been used in modern architecture. Based on the research of the presentation method experiential surface, this study focused on the possibility of surface effect of modern architecture with the concept of pixeling and suggest the way of application to the design process.
급성 A형 간염의 합병증으로 발생한 혈구포식증후군 1예

Virus-associated hemophagocytic syndrome (VAHS) is a severe hematological disease characterized by persistent fever, peripheral blood cytopenia, hyperferritinemia, hypertriglyceridemia, and hemophagocytosis in the bone marrow, spleen, or lymph nodes. Despite the high incidence of viral infections in the general population, VAHS complicated by hepatitis A infection is rare worldwide, and there is no standard treatment for VAHS. Treatments include correcting the peripheral blood cytopenia and controlling the infectious causes and immunosuppression, such as with cyclosporine A and corticosteroids. We report on a patient who was diagnosed with hepatitis A virus-associated VAHS, and has been free of signs and symptoms of VAHS for 2 years with a combination of corticosteroid and cyclosporin A. (Korean J Med 2011;80:S278-S282) A형 간염바이러스에 유발된 혈구포식증후군은 드물지만, 발생할 경우 심각한 임상경과를 보인다. 본 저자들은 A형 간염바이러스에 의해 유발된 혈구포식증후군에 대한 치료와 2년간의 추적관찰의 결과를 보고한다. 이전 특이병력이 없었던 24세 여자 환자로 급성 A형 간염으로 진단받고 보존적 치료 중 간 기능 악화 및 수혈에 교정되지 않는 빈혈 그리고 지속적인 발열의 증상으로 시행한 검사실 및 골수검사상 혈구포식증후군으로 진단되었다. 진단 직후 투여한 덱사메타손 단독요법에 반응이 없어 시클로스포린과 덱사메타손 병합요법을 시행하였고, 이후 증상 및 검사실 소견이 호전되어 치료 시작 한 달 후 퇴원하였다. 이후 특이 증상을 호소하지 않고 있으며, 치료 시작 2년째 면역억제제의 복용 없이 경과관찰 중이다.

PCR performance of different primer sets that are used for detecting Acidovorax avenae subsp. citrulli from bacterial fruit blotch (BFB)-infected plant tissue and seeds in watermelon were evaluated. PCR specificity and sensitivity in detecting Acidovorax avenae subsp. citrulli were examined for four BFB-PCR primer sets. From screening of 10 different bacterial species and three subspecies of Acidovorax avenae, the best PCR-specificity to A. avenae subsp. citrulli was observed from RST 49/51 after digestion of the PCR products with Sau 96I. PCR sensitivity was evaluated by using serial dilutions of template DNA samples achieved from BFB-infected watermelon seeds and leaf tissues, and the highest detection sensitivity was observed from Seminis WFB 1/2. To improve PCR specificity to A. avenae subsp. citrulli of Seminis WFB 1/2, PCR amplicons from five bacterial species were sequenced and a new CAPS marker was developed based on the restriction enzyme site polymorphisms unique to A. avenae subsp. citrulli. CAPS marker uses primer sequence of Seminis WFB 1/2 of high detection sensitivity, and discriminates A. avenae subsp. citrulli from any other bacterial species.
