Vol.19 No.3
This study deals with the calling and holistic roles of a Christian professor for campus evangelization in Korea. This study aims to analyze the actual conditions and problems of campus missionary works, and to identify the calling and valuable holistic roles of a Christian professor for the activation of campus mission in Korean universities. This study begins with an introduction which explains the basic facts of the study. The second chapter deals with a theoretical review which contains the types and mission of a Christian professor, the relationship between campus mission and Christian professor, and a literature review of existing studies. The existing and real conditions of campus mission in Korean universities are examined, and its problems are analysed in the third part of this study based upon the secondary data analysis and research reports. The calling and holistic roles of a Christian professor for the university evangelization in Korea are identified in the fourth chapter. The chapter consists of a perception survey about campus mission and Christian professor, the identity and calling of a Christian professor, and holistic roles of a Christian professor. This study concludes with the fifth chapter, which includes summary, implications, and further research areas. It is very important for a Christian professor to feel the calling consciousness of God as a campus crusader for Christ in life. Based on the confidence in God, a Christian professor should thus be faithful to his holistic role for the university evangelization in Korea universities. The holistic missionary roles identified include teacher, researcher, servant of the public and evangelist in society.

This study focuses on the enhancement of public transit services for the elderly and handicapped travelers. The study is aimed to analyse the transportation use and problems of the elderly and handicapped travelers(E&H), and to suggest some strategies to enhance public transit services for E&H. This was mainly conducted by the analysis of secondary data and a content analysis of the research reports and papers. In 1995 approximately 8.2% of the Korea population, or over 3.7 million Koreans were the elderly and handicapped. They are a significant and growing segment of the Korean population, but one with a variety of transportation needs and preferences. The growth of the very old and the increasing number of handicapped citizens will create mobility problems that transportation planners and transit system must address. The response must match the actual travel needs and preferences of the elderly and handicapped - in all their diversity. Public policy debates in Korea have tended to ignore the crucial role of other social and economic policies in determining the travel needs of elderly and handicapped citizens. We must develop a repertoire of transportation alternatives that provide mobility for elderly and disabled individuals in ways that they find acceptable and will use. Communities develop a range of transportation options that they may not directly involve transit operators. Communities should also try to involve existing providers in the delivery services to elderly and handicapped travelers. Public transit systems must make good faith efforts to provide reliable accessible services, and must identify and implement more marginal changes that will facilitate ridership by the elderly and handicapped. Transit operators must recognize the changing demographics of the population. Public transit systems must continue to offer special services, but only to those who are so handicapped that they can not use accessible buses, low-fare or subsidized taxis, service routes, or ridesharing program. Our society can only hope to meet the mobility needs of the elderly and handicapped if all relevant agencies and actors become involved in the process.
