      • A case of self-healing juvenile cutaneous mucinosis

        Self-healing juvenile cutaneous mucinosis is a very rare, self-limiting disease characterized by transient cutaneous lesions that affects the young. This disorder is characterized by rapid onset of asymptomatic papules and nodules on the face, periarticular regions, abdomen, and thigh. As implied by the name, the lesions spontaneously resolve over weeks to months. In contrast to mucinoses affecting adults, Self-healing juvenile cutaneous mucinosis has not been associated with systemic disorders such as paraproteinemia, bone marrow plasmacytosis, or thyroid diseases. A 7-year-old male presented with erythematous papules, multiple subcutaneous nodules on trunk and both arms that began 6 days before. Aside from pruritus of lesions no other symptoms were manifested. Histopathology showed microabscess in epidermis, superficial perivascular lymphocytic infiltration, and mucin deposition in dermis On follow up visit, although new lesions were present, previous lesions were subsiding. In consideration of the clinicopathological features, the diagnosis of self-healing juvenile cutaneous mucinosis was made. The patient is under close observation with no specific treatment. Herein, we report a rare case of self-healing juvenile cutaneous mucinosis. Knowledge of this entity may prevent unnecessary diagnostic testing and aggressive treatment in the pediatric population with this self-limited disease.

      • 치주질환으로 인한 발거대구치의 치경부 범랑돌기의 발생빈도에 관한 연구

        The author has observed the ocurrence and distribution of the cervical enamel projection of 110 first and second maxillary molars, and 80 first and second mandibular molars, extracted because of severe periodontal disease, among patients who visited the department of periodontology, dental hospital, Kyung Hee University, and obtained the results as follows. 1. There was the highest occurrence of the cervical enamel projection, 94.5%, in maxillary second molars and the lowest one of the cervical enamel projection, 85.0%, in mandibular first molars. 2. The occurrence of the cervical enamel projection was highest in the buccal surface of all examined teeth. (94.5%-80.0%) 3. The grade I was the most common cervical enamel projection (29.1%-37.5%). 4. The buccal surface was the most common location for grade Ⅲ of the cervical enamel projection. 5. Among various furcation morphology, the closed or fused roots were more common in maxillary molars than mandibular molars, and their degree was far more severe in the second molars than the first molars. 6. The age distribution of the extracted teeth owing to the periodontal disease was markedly higher in 40-year-old group and 50-year-old group.

      • Bainite 球狀黑鉛鑄鐵의 磨滅特性에 미치는 殘留Mg의 影響

        Bainite spheroidal graphite cast iron specimens of 0∼0.054wt % residual Mg were casted into a green sand mold, 25 mm thickness Y-block. The microstuctures of the castings were studied for mechanical properties and abrasion characteristics. The results obtained from this study are summerized as follows: 1) Under the present expermental conditions, the relation between the abrasion speed and the abraded amount are; 0.5m/sec for 1^st abrasive wear and 2.38m/sec for 2^nd abrasive wear. 2) Increasing the residual Mg, the first abrasion speed for 2nd abrasive wear moved to the low abrasion speed. 3) The maximum amount of abraded material during 2^nd abrasive wear decreases with the increasing residual Mg content, and moves to the high abrasion speed as the residual Mg is increased over 0.042 wt %. 4) The amount of abraded materials increases with the decreasing residual Mg at abrasion speed 2.38 m/sec and with the increasing residual Mg at abrasion speed 0.62∼1.14 m/sec. 5) Increasing the abrasion speed, abrasion mechanisms are as follows; ⓐ 1^st abrasive wear ⓑ 1^st corrosive wear ⓒ 2^nd abrasive wear ⓓ 2^nd corrosive wear. But, Under the present expermental condition the adhesive wear mechanism didn't appear.

        This study was carried out for reorientation of Rehabilitation Service Delivery System (RSDS) through reviewing reference and observing field practice. The most important results are as follows: 1. The current rehabilitation facility for handicapped persons can be classified into four categories : (a) those for physically disabled persons, (b) those for mentally disturbed persons, (c) those for visually disturbed persons, and (d) those for acoustic and speech disturbed persons. The nationwide number of rehabilitation facilities is 101 of those, 43.5% is for physically disabled persons and 32.9% is for mentally disturbed persons. 2. A small number of circulating rehabilitation centers for physically disability are being run by comprehensive rehabilitation centers since 1992. 3. The hospitals are self-supporting only 20% of their operational costs, and the rest of the operational costs comes from federal tax(40%) and local tax(40%). 4. The number of handicapped persons in Taegu and Kyungpook province is estimated to be about 50,000, but only 20 percent out of them ws registered. The rehabilitation facilities located in this area receives 69% of their operational costs from central government. This figure is higher than the national average of 64.6%. 5. Although RSDS is different from other medical delivery system, nonetheless, it should be developed as a sub-system of national health care delivery system. Its development should also be in accordance with the need of local community. Therefore we suggest the development policy for the development of RMDS must consider the following points.; First, all rehabilitation-related medical systems should be integrated unde ra single comprehensive system so that handicapped persons may easily obtain better service available. Second, rehabilitation programs based on local community should be rejuvenated. In addition to in-patient service, development of intermediate facilities and programs connecting home and society should be encouraged. Third, rehabilitation medical services should be more specialized. Also, more emphasis should be given to team approach to rehabilitation medical services. Fourth, a comprehensive rehabilitation information system should be developed so that handicapped persons may have easy access to public welfare facilities, and the central government should formulate a comprehensive long-term plan for the rehabilitation system.

      • 티타늄 표면에 대한 배양 골수세포와 치은 섬유아세포의 생체적합성

        The purpose of this study was to evaluate the response in aspect of attachment and growth rate of osteablasts and human gingival fibroblasts to the commercially pure titanium(CP titanium) and titanium alloy(Ti-6A1-4V) that are used widely as implant materials, and to obtain the basic information to ideal implant materials. In this study, commercially pure titanium in first test group, titanium alloy(Ti-6A1-4V) in second test group, cobalt-chromemolybdenum alloy(Co-Cr-Mo alloy) in positive control group, and tissue culture polystyrene plate in negative control group were used. The results of this study were as follows. 1. Bone marrow cells cultured on CP titanium and Ti-6A1-4V showed significantly greater attachment and growth rate(p<0.05) compared to Co-Cr-Mo alloy in each time. 2. There were no significant differences(p>0.05) in attachment and growth rate of bone marrow cells cultured on GP titanium and Ti-6A1-4V or tissue culture plate. 3."Most bone marrow cells cultured on CP titanium, Ti-6A1-4V and tissue culture plate were attached well to each substratum in first 2days, and then, grew at higher growth rate. On the other hand, some cells cultured on Co-Cr-Mo alloy failed to attach in first 2 days, and then, attached cells grew at lower growth rate than other groups. 4. Attachment and growth rates of gingival fibroblasts cultured on CP titanium and Ti-6A1-4V showed no significant differences(p>0.05) compared to Co-Cr-Mo alloy in 2 days, but significantly greater increase(p<0.05) in 5 and 9 days. 5. There were no significantly differences(p>0.05) between growth rates on gingival fibroblasts cultured on CP titanium, Ti-6A1-4V and tissue culture plate in 2 and 5 days, but a significant lower growth rate(p<0.05) on CP titanium and Ti-6A.1-4V versus tissue culture plate. 6. Some gingival fibroblasts cultured on all specimen groups failed to attach, but attached cells grew well especially on CP titanium, Ti-6A1-4V and tissue culture plate. 7. There were no significant differences(p>0.05) between growth rates of both bone marrow cells and gingival fibroblasts cultured on CP titanium and Ti-6A1-4V. As a result of this study, both commercially pure titanium and Ti-6AI-4V showed excellent biocompatibility and there was no significant difference in the cellular response to the both metals. Bone marrow cells cultured on each substratum showed significantly greater growth rate and responded sensitively to cytotoxic effects of metal surfaces compared to gingival fibroblasts. Considering cell response to the substrate, it was likely that the composition itself of titanium metals have no significant effects on the biocompatibility. Further study need to be done to evaluate the influence of surface characteristics on cellular responses.

      • 코일로 치료한 다발성 폐동정맥 기형 1예

        A 29 year old female patient came with grade NYHA Fc IV dyspnea of 1 month. No abnormality was heard during auscultation. Arterial blood gas analysis done due to shortness of breath showed a decreased PO_(2) of 64.6 mmHg. Computerized tomography(CT) was checked due to multiple nodules seen in both lower lung fields of the chest X-ray. CT revealed multiple pulmonary arteriovenous malformations in both the mid and lower lung fields. Dyspnea was uncorrected by the application of oxygen. Coil embolization showed improvement of PO2 and dyspnea. The CT follow up at 9 months after the procedure showed no progression of the arteriovenous malformation without any additional symptoms nor dyspnea.

        DSP Processor(TMS320C32)를 이용한 화자인증 보안시스템의 구현

        The speech includes various kinds of information : language information, speaker's information, affectivity, hygienic condition, utterance environment etc. when a person communicates with others. All technologies to utilize in real life processing this speech are called the speech technology. The speech technology contains speaker's information that among them and it includes a speech which is known as a speaker recognition. DTW(Dynamic Time Warping) is the speaker recognition technology that seeks the pattern of standard speech signal and the similarity degree in an inputted speech signal using dynamic programming. In this study, using TMS320C32 DSP processor, we are to embody this DTW and to construct a security system.

      • 치주인대세포와 치은 섬유아세포의 혼합배양이 석회화 결절형성에 미치는 영향

        The goal of periodontal therapy is to regenerate the loss of periodontal attachment appratus. Current theories suggest the cells of the periodontium have the capacity, when appropriately triggered, to actively participate in restoring connective tissues, including mineralized tissues. This study was performed to define the hard tissue regeneration effect of periodontal ligament (PDL) cells in nitro and the effect of rate of the composition in gingival fibroblasts (GF) on the hard tissue regeneration capacity of PDI_ cells. For this study, Cell growth rate, alkaline phosphatase(ALPase) levels and the ability to produce mineralized nodules in co-culture of PDL cells and GF were examined. The results were as follows ; 1. At 7 and 15 days, cell growth of co-culture of PDL and GF (50 : 50) was greater than that of PDL cells or GF alone(P<0.05). 2. Measurements of ALPase levels indicated that PDL cells had significantly higher activity when compared with that of co-culture groups and GF only(P<0.05). And, ALPase activity in 10 days was higher than that of 7 days(P<0.05). 3. The tendency of formation of the mineralized nodule were observed dose-depend pattern of PDL cells. There was statistically significant difference among group 1(PDL 100%), 2(PDL 70% GF 30%), and 3(PDL 50% = GF 50%)(P<0.01). But, there was no difference among group 3, 4(PDL 30% : GF 70%), and 5(GF 100%). 4. Also, the number of nodule was greater in co-culture of PDL 70% and GF 30% than in culture of PDL 70%(P<0.05). From the above results, it is assumed that the co-culture of PDL cells and GF stimulates the cell growth, which is not that of PDL cells but GF. And, the activity of ALPase depends on the ratio of PDL cells, and ALPase may relate to the initial phase of nodule formation. Also, it is thought that the calcified nodule formation principally depends on PDL cells, is inhibited by GF, and affected by cell density.

      • 뇌졸중 환자의 경상운동이 상지기능에 미치는 영향

        경상운동은 다른 쪽의 신체에서 일어나는 의도된 움직임의 경상 반전으로 발생하는 한 쪽 신체의 무의식적인 운동이다. 본 연구는 뇌졸중으로 인한 편마비 환자에게서 나타나는 경상운동이 상지기능에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 65명의 뇌졸중 환자를 대상으로 연구한 결과, 경상운동이 나타나지 않은 환자군의 상지기능은 경상운동이 나타난 환자군의 상지기능과 통계학적으로 유의한 차이를 보였으며, 경상운동이 나타난 환자군에 비해 상지기능이 좋은 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 경상운동이 나타나지 않은 환자군과 경상운동이 경한 환자군, 경상운동이 중한 환자군의 상지기능을 비교한 결과 경사운동이 적게 나타날수록 상지기능이 좋은 것으로 나타났다. 연구의 결과를 종합하여 볼 때, 뇌졸중으로 인한 편마비 환자에게서 나타나는 경상운동은 상지기능을 감소시키는 요인 될 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. The purpose of this study was to compare upper extremity's motor function according to the mirror movements in hemiparetic patients with stroke. Mirror movements are involuntary movements in one side of the body that occur as mirror reversals of the intended movement on the other side of the body. The subjects of the study were 65 stroke patients who were admitted from May, 2004 to April, 2005 in the Y University medical center. This study used the Manual Function Test(MFT) and the Purdue pegboard test to evaluate upper extremity‘s motor function. The severity of mirror movements were assessed according to the criteria of Woods and Teuber. The results of the study was as follow; First, The upper extremity‘s motor function in hemiparetic patients without mirror movements was significantly different in hemiparetic patients with mirror movements(p< .05). Second, The upper extremity's motor function in hemiparetic patients with mild mirror movements was significantly different in hemiparetic patients with severe mirror movements(p< .05).
