        국내산 및 제초제 내성 콩(HS2906)의 일반성분, 무기질 및 지방산 조성

        Proximate analysis, mineral and fatty acid composition of three conventional domestic soybean cultivars and two imported ones including glyphosate-tolerant HS2906 were evaluated by AOAC method, ICP-AES and gas chromatography. There were several differences in the proximate analysis among three conventional domestic soybean cultivars ; higher crude fat in the cultivar Hwanggumkong, higher crude protein in Pungsankong, and higher carbohydrate and crude ash in Duyukong. The ranges of contents of proximate components of domestic cultivars were similar to the data previously reported. There were no significant differences in proximate analysis between conventional soybean WS82 and glyphosate-tolerant HS2906 ; 23.55~23.90% of crudefat, 34.22~35.55% of crude protein, 6.25~6.45% of crude ash, and 25.35~26.47% of carbohydrate. The mineral and fatty acid compositions of HS2906 were similar to those of conventional soybeans previously reported.

        Fibrinolytic activity of fermented kimchi and ingredients used for the preparation were assayed by measuring the lysis area on plasminogen-rich fibrin plate. Fermented kimchi and pickled fish sauces from changlan, prwan, and anchovy showed the activity, and the activity of pickled fish sauces were high in the order of pickled changlan, pickled anchovy(pickled mulchi), and pickled prawn. However, the activity of kimchi may not be attributed to pickled fish sauce because kimchi containing fish sauce did not possess activities before fermentation. To investigate fibrinolytic agents in the kimchi if protein, the activities were determined from the samples heated for 30min at 100℃. There was no changes in the activities before and after heat treatment indicating the agents may be components other than protein. Since major changes occur during kimchi fermentation were increased sour taste due to production of organic acids such as lactic, citric, oxalic, and succinic acids, the authentic organic acids present were examined for fibrinolytic activities. The results indicates that the major component posses the activity is lactic acid.

      • 광주전남지역 정상 신생아의 코의 형태와 계측치에 대한 연구

        Background and Objectives: Cleft lip and palate are common defects in congenital deformity. They are the most frequent deformity in the face. Nose deformity is most common among various facial deformity at the center of face. So we must operate to correct the deformity at the earliest stage to give a patient and parent spiritual relief from anxiety, and it is the trend of the treatment recently. We must know the facial anthropometry in newborn to try at the early stage, but there is a lack of literature and research on newborns. So we carried out this research to form base data for operations. Materials and Methods : The noses of 90 newborns in Gwangju-Cheonnam area were analyzed quantitatively, based on 10 nasal measuring points and 13 anthropometric values taken directly from the face of newborns. The relationship between the nasal measurements were studied in 11 proportion indices. Results : Following are our mean values in newborn. Width of the nasal root was 13. 9mm. Width of the nose was 22. lrnm, Width of the columella was 4. 5mm. Height of the nose was 22.6mm. Length of the nasal bridge was 20.1mm. Nasal tip protrusion was 8.9mm. Width of the nostril floor was 6.4mm. Thickness of the nasal ala and length of the nasal ala were 4.0mm, 15.4mm. Length of the columella was 3.9mm. The most common nostril shape was Type II (0-45 degrees in inclination of the nostril axis from the horizontal). Nasal index was 97.8. Columella-nasal tip protrusion length index was 43.9. Conclusion : The development of the columella was relatively incomplete in the case of newborn and was the result to appear. The normal indicies could be used clinically in identifying the it's normality as well as morphologic characteristics of the craniofacial structures. They also could be used in differential diagnosis between the morphologically similar congenital craniofacial anomalies. In preoperative design, in setting the criteria of the postoperative results, and assessing the effect of the operation, Finally, they supply the plastic surgeon and the other specialists in the craniofacial surgery with basic normal population data.

      • 유방암종에서 p53, cyclin D1 및 cathersin D 단백발현의 의의

        Background and Objectives: Breast carcinoma is a heterogenous disease. The prognosis of this carcinoma correlates with various prognostic factors. The aim of this study was to assess the prognostic significance of expression of p53, cyclin Dl and cathepsin D protiens in association with various prognostic factors in invasive breast carcinoma. Materials and Methods: The relationship is presented between expression of p53, cyclin D1 and cathepsin D by immunohistochemistry and various established prognostic factors such as tumor size, histologic grade, lymph node status and extensive intraductal component in 55 cases of invasive breast carcinoma. Results: No significant correlations were observed between expression of p53, cyclin Dl and cathepsin D and tumor size. The expression of p53 correlated with high histologic grade. The expression of p53 and cyclin Dl correlated with lymph node metastasis. Conclusion: These results indicate that expression of p53 and cyclin Dl in invasive ductal carcinoma may be an important prognostic factor, closely related to the high histologic grade and lymph node metastasis.

        Cordyceps militaris alleviates non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in ob/ob mice

        BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is becoming an important public health problem as metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes have become epidemic. In this study we investigated the protective effect of Cordyceps militaris (C. militaris) against NAFLD in an obese mouse model. MATERIALS/METHODS: Four-week-old male ob/ob mice were fed an AIN-93G diet or a diet containing 1% C. militaris water extract for 10 weeks after 1 week of adaptation. Serum glucose, insulin, free fatty acid (FFA), alanine transaminase (ALT), and proinflammatory cytokines were measured. Hepatic levels of lipids, glutathione (GSH), and lipid peroxide were determined. RESULTS: Consumption of C. militaris significantly decreased serum glucose, as well as homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), in ob/ob mice. In addition to lowering serum FFA levels, C. militaris also significantly decreased hepatic total lipids and triglyceride contents. Serum ALT activities and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels were reduced by C. militaris. Consumption of C. militaris increased hepatic GSH and reduced lipid peroxide levels. CONCLUSIONS: These results indicate that C. militaris can exert protective effects against development of NAFLD, partly by reducing inflammatory cytokines and improving hepatic antioxidant status in ob/ob mice.

        Background and Objectives : The localization of platelet-derived growth factor-α receptor (PDGF-α R) was commonly restricted to oligodendrocyte progenitors during late embryonic and postnatal development. However, several studies recently demonstrated that mature neurons could also synthesize PDGF-α, Materials and Methods : In the present study, to analyze the distributional pattern of PDGF-αR during postnatal development of the canine cerebral cortex, we used immunohistochemistry on sections of canine brain tissue. Results : We found that neurons of various regions of cerebral cortex exhibited the immunoreactivity to PDGF-αR as early as postnatal day 0, and slightly decreased after postnatal day 14. Whereas neuronal PDGF-αR were maintained at all ages, the oligodendroglia-like expression of PDGF-αR could not be confirmed. Conclusion : The localization of PDGF-αR in immature and mature neurons supports the several roles of PDGF during development, protection and survival of neurons.

      • Precursor designs for Cu<sub>2</sub>ZnSn(S,Se)<sub>4</sub> thin-film solar cells

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>To commercialize Cu<SUB>2</SUB>ZnSn(S,Se)<SUB>4</SUB> (CZTSSe) thin-film solar cells, it is necessary to improve their efficiency and to develop the technological ability to produce large-area modules. Defect formation due to the secondary phase is considered to be one of the main reasons for decreased CZTSSe thin-film solar-cell efficiency. This study explores the potential capabilities of large-area thin-film solar cells by controlling the defect formation using various CZTSSe precursor designs, and by improving the characteristic uniformity within the thin-film solar cells. Alloying the precursor as a stack of discrete layers can result in lateral segregation of elements into stable-phase islands, yielding a non-uniform composition on small length scales. It is found that the application of an indiscrete layer by minimizing the precursor-layer thickness allows avoiding Zn rich inhomogeneities in the absorber that would favor formation of detrimental ZnS-ZnSe secondary phases and deep defects. Among the various precursor layers designed by considering the reaction mechanism under annealing, a sample with 15 precursor layers is found to exhibit a shallow electron-acceptor energy level, high photovoltaic conversion efficiency, and uniform characteristics over the corresponding thin-film solar cell. Based on such improvements in both the efficiency and characteristic distribution, it is expected that the commercialization of CZTSSe thin-film solar cells can be advanced.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> An indiscrete layer enabled the suppression of the overly rich Zn zone. </LI> <LI> It prevents the formation of Zn-rich detrimental secondary phases and defects. </LI> <LI> A sample with 15 precursor layers exhibits a shallow acceptor energy level. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>An indiscrete layer was chosen as a precursor stacking order design, which enabled the suppression of the overly rich Zn zone during a relatively low-temperature annealing process, thus preventing the formation of Zn-rich detrimental secondary phases and defects in these regions.         Electro-optical characteristics of dye-doped polymer dispersed liquid crystals

        The electro-optical properties of dye-doped Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) films were examined as a function of the polymer UV curing temperature, injection temperature and applied voltage. In addition, the effects of the morphology on the electro-optical properties were examined. The contrast ratio and driving voltage of the PDLC films were affected considerably by changes in the UV curing temperature but the injection temperature had a much lesser effect. The color difference and electro-optic characteristics of the dye doped PDLC film were investigated, where the PDLC films were doped with RGB dyes for flexible display applications. The red-dye-doped PDLC film with small-sized particles showed good color differences. In this dye-doped PDLC system, the film driving voltage (Von) of the PDLC increased with increasing liquid crystal droplet size, except for the TL205–prepolymer–red dye. In particular, the red-dye doped PDLC composition showed the lowest Von in the electro-optic characteristics of the dye-doped PDLC film.

        Light Scattering Characteristics of Newly Designed Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystals Films

        <P> Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) films were prepared by the phase separation method using the liquid crystal (TL205) and a prepolymer. This work investigated the characteristics of scattering angle - light transmittance. In this work, it was found that at a narrow scattering angle incident lights was only weakly scattered and retained polarization, as the scattering angle increased the scattered light became increasingly depolarized.</P>

      • The alterations of carrier separation in kesterite solar cells

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Cu<SUB>2</SUB>ZnSn(S,Se)S<SUB>4</SUB> (CZTSSe) thin films have attracted attention as low-cost absorber materials for solar cells; however, further studies are required to develop flexible solar cells from this material and to achieve a high power conversion efficiency. Toward this objective, this work investigated eight types of precursors applied on flexible Mo foil substrates, some of which also contained a layer of NaF. Secondary phases, defects, and defect clusters were different in the various samples, and the surface electrical characteristics of the CZTSSe absorber layer varied accordingly. In contrast to those in the CIGS-based cells, defects and defect clusters generated in the CZTSSe absorber layer caused an upward band bending-like band structure to form at the grain boundaries (GBs), thereby forming an intra-grain (IG) current path. By improving carrier separation, a flexible CZTSSe thin-film solar cell was developed on a Mo foil substrate with a power conversion efficiency of 7.04%. Thus, the efficiency of CZTSSe thin-film solar cells could be increased through carrier separation measures that enabled the collection of holes toward the GBs and of electrons toward IGs.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> For the CZTSSe absorber layer, an upward band bending-like band structure formed at and near the GBs, and a current path formed along the IGs as holes collected toward the GBs, and electrons collected toward the IGs. </LI> <LI> Through the implementation of these carrier separation characteristics, a flexible CZTSSe thin-film solar cell on a Mo foil substrate achieved a PCE of 7.04%. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>To realize high-efficiency CZTSSe thin-film solar cells, the current path should be formed along the intra-grains through an upward band bending-like band structure at and near the grain boundaries.</P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>
