The metacercariae of Clinostomum complanatum (Rudolphi, 1814) were isolated in the whole body muscle of wild freshwater fish, spotted barbel gudgeon (Squalidus multimaculatus Hosoya et Jeon) from the local river in Yeongdeok, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea. The infected fish with bumpy body surface by yellow grub showed erratic swimming behavior and some fish were died. The isolated excysted metacercariae were tongue shaped and 2.85~5.89 mm × 0.8~1.99 mm in size. 1~98 metacercariae were isolated in individual fish and mean infection intensity was 25. All examined adult spotted barbel gudgeon sizing 7 cm in body length were infected. This is the first report of disease outbreak and mortality caused by C. complanatum infection in wild freshwater fish in Korea.

Performance Analysis of a Triple Pressure HRSG

Operating characteristics of a triple pressure reheat HRSG are analyzed using a commercial software package (Gate Cycle by GE Enter Software). The calculation routine determines all the design parameters including configuration and area of each heat exchanger. The off-design calculation part has the capability of simulating the effect of any operating parameters such as power load, process requirements, and operating mode, etc., on the transient performance of the plant. The arrangement of high-temperature and intermediate-temperature components of the HRSG is changed, and its effect on the steam turbine performance and HRSG characteristics is examined. It is shown that there could be a significant difference in HRSG sizes even though thermal performance is not in great deviation. From the viewpoint of both economics and steam turbine performance, it should be carefully reviewed whether the optimum design point could exist. Off-design performance could be one of the main factors in arranging components of the HRSG because power plants operate at various off-design conditions such as ambient tempera­ture and gas turbine load, etc. It is shown that different heat exchanger configurations lead to different performances with ambient temperature, even though they have almost the same performances at design points.

Molecular Characterization of Megalocytiviruses from Diseased Fishes in Korean Aquatic Farms from 2013 to 2017

We identified structural and non-structural gene regions encoding major capsid protein (MCP) and DNA polymerase (DPOL) of megalocytiviruses collected from infected cultured fishes in RBIVD outbreak farms in 2013-2017 in Korea. With the two PCRs using 1-F/1-R and 4-F/4-R primer sets of the Manual of Diagnosis Tests for Aquatic Animals of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), amplicons were generated from the spleen and kidney tissue from approxmately ~30 fishes, including rock bream (Oplegnathus fasciatus), red sea bream (Pagrus major), and rock fish (Sebastes schlegeli), from 15 outbreak regions in the aquatic farms of the South Sea and Jeju Island. In phylogenetic analysis, complete MCP and partial DPOL genes belonged to RSIV type-subgroup2. Interestingly, these genes formed a cluster indicating closer relatedness to GSIV-K1, RIE12-1, and RBIV-C1, which were previously isolated from Japan and China, than with RBIV-KOR-TY1 isolated from Korea. However, the nucleotide sequence identities of the MCP and DPOL genes of these viruses were high, at >99.8% and >99.7%, respectively, compared with RBIV-KOR-TY1. Comparisons of nucleotide and amino acid sequences showed minimal differences between the obtained strains in the MCP gene, however, one or two nucleotide sequences substitutions of the DPOL gene were detected in nine strains, including a silent mutation detected in five strains. These findings suggest a slow rate of evolution of megalocytiviruses in this region, but the potential for mutations and new pathogenic strains warrants continuous surveillance.

초등 체육과 통섭적 교육과정 운영의 교육적 의미 탐색

이 연구는 교과 간 연계성 있는 교육과정 내용 및 활동을 선정하여 신체활동의 가치와 의미를 구현함과 동시에 체육교육과 관련된 지식과 내용을 총체적으로 경험할수 있는 통섭적 교육과정 운영이 교육적으로 어떠한 교육적 의미를 내포하고 있는 지 를 심층적으로 이해 및 파악하고자 하는 데 있다. 이 연구는 질적 연구방법에 기초한 셀프연구를 이용하여 연구를 수행하였다. 구체적인 자료 수집은 문서자료, 저널, 학생배움 공책, 수업관찰, 면담을 통해 이루어졌으며 자료 분석은 Clandinin과 Connelly(2000)가 제안한 내러티브 탐구절차에 따라 현장 속에 존재하기, 현장에서 현장 텍스트로 이동하기, 현장 텍스트 구성하기, 현장 텍스트에서 연구 텍스트로 이동하기, 연구 텍스트 작성하기의 과정을 거쳐 기술-분석-해석하였다. 연구결과, 교사 차원의 교육적 의미에는 ‘교육과정 전문가로서의 교사’, ‘학교를 개선하는 교사’, ‘리더-학습자로서 교사’로 나타났다. 학생 차원의 교육적 의미는 ‘인식론적 기능’, ‘사회 심리적기능’으로 나타났다, 또한 교과 차원의 교육적 의미는 ‘환원주의 패러독스’, ‘교육과정편제의 변주곡’으로 나타났다. The purpose of this study was to examine Educational meanings of a consilient Curriculum as one of possible alternatives to existing in elementary school Physical education curriculums As for research design of the study, a self-study that employed a qualitative research method was adopted. A self-study focuses on the educational meaning of educational behavior and a space where situational contexts interact with one another, in pursuit of the personal and professional growth and development of individual teachers and the improvement of instruction and school performance. The collected data included documents, journals, notebooks of the students, class observation data and interview data. According to Cladinin & Connelly(2000) s narrative inquiry process, all the collected materials were described, analyzed and interpreted in the following procedure: being. The educational meaning of the consilient P.E. curriculum was discussed in terms of teacher, student and subject. First, regarding the educational meaning of the consilient P.E. curriculum in terms of teacher is ‘teacher as curriculum experts’, ‘teachers who could improve school’, ‘teachers as leaders and learners’. Second, as for the educational meaning of the consilient P.E. curriculum in terms of students, the curriculum had two different functions: epistemic function and sociopsycological function. Third, concerning the educational meaning of the consilient P.E. curriculum in terms of the subject, the curriculum made it possible to eliminate the paradox of reductionism and to step up the interchange of knowledge. The consilient approach that accelerates communication among different subjects could be called the variation of curriculum compilation that lets each subject remain intact yet seeks after the diversity of curriculum by allowing teachers to compile and manage the curriculum as they intended.

통섭적 체육과 교육과정의 어려움에 관한 셀프연구

이 연구는 통섭에 대한 연구를 진일보(進一步)하여 통섭적 체육과 교육과정의 실 행 과정에서 어떠한 내부적?외부적 차원에서의 어려움이 있는 지 그리고 이를 어 떻게 극복해 나가는가에 대해 심층적으로 이해하고 해석하고자 기존의 질적 연구에 서 사용하는 내러티브 방법을 활용한 셀프 연구(Self-study)를 수행하였다. 연구 결 과, 통섭적 체육과 교육과정을 계획하면서 겪은 어려움과 이를 해결해 나가며 기회 를 만드는 과정은 ‘천우신조(天佑神助)’, ‘난공불락(難攻不落)’, ‘마부작침(磨斧作針)’ 으로 나타났다. 통섭적 교육과정의 원리를 탐색한 학습연구년 수행이 끝나며 학교 현장으로 복귀를 하는 과정에서 연구를 수행할 수 없었던 상황적 맥락이 있었으나 ‘천우신조’로 학교 업무와 담임 배정이 재조정되면서 연구 수행을 시작할 수 있었다. 통섭적 체육과 교육과정을 실제로 적용하기에 앞서 외부적 차원과 내부적 차원에서 의 ‘난공불락’의 요소들이 산재해 있었다. 그러나 위기와 어려움을 기회로 만드는 ‘마부작침’의 과정으로 여러 난점들을 극복하였다. 또한 통섭적 체육과 교육과정 운 영의 어려움은 ‘회귀와 조우’, ‘익숙함과 생소함’, ‘맥락적 사고의 한계와 학습커뮤니 티’, ‘우려와 기대’로 나타났다. The purpose of this study was to explore Practice Process and difficulties of interclass integration to incorporate a P.E. curriculum with curriculums of other subjects from a standpoint of consilience in pursuit of interclass exchange without infringing on the unique domain of P.E. As for research design of the study, a self-study that employed a qualitative research method was adopted. The collected data included documents, journals, notebooks of the students, class observation data and interview data. According to Cladinin & Connelly(2000) s narrative inquiry process, all the collected materials were described, analyzed and interpreted in the following procedure: being in the field, from field to field text, composing field text, from field text to research text, and composing research text. First, the process that I tried to tide over difficulties to create another chance could be summarized into three Sino-Korean idioms: Chunwooshinjo, Nangongboollak, Maboojakchim. Second, the journey difficulties that I had constructed a consilient P.E. curriculum was described from a narrative perspective. That could be boiled down to four: ‘regression and encounter’, ‘familiarity and unfamiliarity’, ‘limit of contextual thinking and learning community’, ‘concern and expectation .

Treatment of rituximab in patients with idiopathic membranous nephropathy: a case series and literature review

Background/Aims: Membranous nephropathy (MN) is a major cause of nephrotic syndrome in adults. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of rituximab (RTX) in patients with idiopathic MN (iMN) who have a high risk of progression. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data of 13 patients with iMN, who received RTX treatments from January 2014 to July 2020. RTX was indicated in patients with iMN with severe proteinuria and decreasing estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) in the previous 6 months despite other immunosuppressive therapies. Results: The patients were predominantly males (n = 11) and with a mean age of 55.3 years; median eGFR, 37.0 mL/ min/1.73 m² (interquartile range [IQR], 26.3 to 66.5); serum albumin level, 2.6 g/dL (IQR, 1.9 to 3.1); and spot urine protein-to-creatinine ratio at baseline, 6.6 g/g (IQR, 5.7 to 12.9). In a median follow-up of 22 months, eight patients (61.5%) achieved complete or partial remission. In responder group (n = 8), median eGFR increased from 31.5 to 61.5 mL/min/1.73 m² (p = 0.049) and serum albumin level increased from 2.3 to 4.2 g/dL (p = 0.017) from RTX initiation to last follow-up. Antiphospholipase A2 receptor antibody (anti-PLA2R-Ab) was positive in six among seven tested patients, which markedly decreased in the responder group. There were no adverse events after RTX. Conclusions: This study suggests that RTX is a safe and effective treatment option for patients with iMN who have a high risk of progression. Individualized therapy based on anti-PLA2R-Ab titer would be needed for better outcomes.

Extrastriatal dopaminergic changes in Parkinson’s disease patients with impulse control disorders

<P><B>Objective</B></P><P>To investigate the extrastriatal dopaminergic neural changes in relation to the medication-related impulse control disorders (ICD) in Parkinson's disease (PD).</P><P><B>Method</B></P><P>A total of 31 subjects (11 and 11 drug-treated PD patients with and without medication-related ICDs and 9 healthy controls) having no other co-morbid psychiatric disorders participated in this study. Each subject underwent dynamic <I>N</I>-(3-[<SUP>18</SUP>F]fluoropropyl)-2-carbomethoxy-3-(4-iodophenyl) nortropane (FP-CIT) positron emission tomography scans. Binding potentials (BP) at nucleus accumbens, amygdala, orbitofrontal and ventromedial prefrontal cortex (VMPFC), putamen and caudate nucleus were estimated, and whole brain parametric maps of [<SUP>18</SUP>F]-FP-CIT binding were analysed by original and putaminal normalised manners.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Compared with the healthy controls, BPs at both VMPFCs were significantly high and the extrastriatal to putaminal BP ratios at all regions were approximately three times higher in both PD groups. The PD ICD patients showed significantly higher BPs at the right VMPFC and tendency to lower BPs at the left nucleus accumbens compared with those free of ICD. The ICD subjects also showed reduced uptakes at both ventral striatal regions in the original parametric analysis and higher uptakes at the left insular and right posterior cingulate cortex and lower uptakes at both ventral pallidums in the putaminal normalised parametric analysis compared with the non-ICD subjects.</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>A great gap in extrastriatal versus striatal dopaminergic fibre degenerations is an intrinsic condition predisposing to ICD in PD. Distinct pattern of extrastriatal changes between the ICD and non-ICD patients could provide a further insight into a mechanism of ICD in PD.</P>

Spontaneous pregnancy in Turner's syndrome is very rare because of ovarian dysgenesis and subsequent streak gonads. Recently we experienced 3 cases of pregnancies and deliveries in Turner's syndrome, so we report with a brief review of literature.
