Gelidium (G.) elegans is a red alga inhabiting intertidal areas of North East Asia. We examined anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory effects of G. elegans, depending on drying and extraction conditions, by determining reactive oxygen species (ROS) and nitric oxide (NO) in 3T3-L1 and RAW 264.7 cells. Extraction yields of samples using hot air drying (HD) and far-infrared ray drying (FID) were significantly higher than those using natural air drying (ND). The 70% ethanol extracts showed the highest total phenol and flavonoid contents compared to other extracts (0, 30, and 50% ethanol) under tested drying conditions. The scavenging activity on 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and nitrite correlated with total phenol or flavonoid content in the extracts. The greatest DPPH scavenging effect was observed in 70% ethanol extract from FID and HD conditions. The production of ROS and NO in 3T3-L1 and macrophage cells greatly decreased with the 70% ethanol extraction derived from FID. This study suggests that 70% ethanol extraction of G. elegans dried by FID is the most optimal condition to obtain efficiently antioxidant compounds of G. elegans.

감태 추출물(Seapolynol)과 Dieckol의 α-Glucosidase 저해 활성과 포도당 및 맥아당 경구 부하 시험

감태 추출물인 seapolynol과 dieckol을 활용하여 효과적인 혈당 강하 소재의 기능성을 확인하기 위해 본 연구를 수행하였으며, α-glucosidase 저해 활성을 확인하여 보았을 때 seapolynol은 100 μg/mL의 농도에서, dieckol은 50 μM 및 100 μM의 농도에서 효과적인 저해 활성을 확인하였다. 추가로 db/db mouse를 이용하여 경구 포도당 및 맥아당 부하 시험을 진행하였다. 경구 포도당 부하 시험에서 seapolynol과 dieckol은 고농도 처리군에서 각각 40% 및 35%, 경구 맥아당 부하 시험에서는 seapolynol과 dieckol이 각각 20% 및 35%의 유의적인 혈당 강하를 보였다. 또한, 경구맥아당 부하 시험 시 급격히 증가하는 혈당을 억제하는 기능을 확인할 수 있었다. 이를 통해 섭취한 seapolynol과 dieckol이 혈당조절을 위해 장내 α-glucosidase의 활성을 저해시켜 체내 포도당 섭취를 떨어뜨림과 함께 이당류의 분해작용을 억제하여 급격한 혈당의 증가를 억제하는 작용을 할 것이라 예상한다. 따라서 seapolynol과 dieckol이 식후 혈당조절 소재로서의 가능성이 있을 것으로 생각된다. Ecklonia cava, a brown seaweed native to the seas of Korea and Japan, includes various polyphenolic compounds. Seapolynol and its major compound dieckol derived from Ecklonia cava have various biological activities; however, their effect as a hypoglycemic agent has not been sufficiently investigated. Therefore, we investigated the effects of seapolynol and dieckol on α-glucosidase inhibition, based on the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) and oral maltose tolerance test (OMTT) in in vivo. α-Glucosidase inhibition activities significantly increased in response to 100 μg/mL seapolynol and 50 and 100 μM doses of dieckol. In addition, OGTT and OMTT of seapolynol and dieckol treated C57BL/KsJ-db/db mice were conducted. Specifically, seapolynol and dieckol were administrated at low and high doses for 6 weeks, after which glucose and maltose (1 g/kg body weight) were administrated orally following 12 h of starvation. Blood glucose levels were measured 30, 60, 90, and 120 min after administration of glucose and maltose. Mice that received high doses of seapolynol and dieckol showed significant 40% and 35% reductions in the area under the curve of blood glucose level, respectively. Moreover, blood glucose level of seapolynol (24.9 mmol/L) and dieckol (22.3 mmol/L) high dose groups were reduced compared to control group (31.6 mmol/L) when maltose administrated after 30 min. These results indicate that seapolynol and dieckol have the potential for use as functional materials for the treatment of hyperglycemia.

최근 현실의 이미지나 배경에 3차원 가상 이미지를 겹쳐서 하나의 영상으로 보여주는 증강현실 기술들이 개발되고 있으며, 특히 애플리케이션에 따른 증강현실기반의 소프트웨어 들이 많이 개발되어 지고 있다. 하지만 대부분의 증강현실 기반의 애플리케이션은 GPS를 사용하여 사용자에게 서비스를 제공하는데, GPS값이 정확하지 않아 위치에 대한 신뢰도가 떨어지는 단점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기존 GPS 기능과 지자기, 자이로, 가속도 센서를 통한 방향감지 인식을 포함하여 증강현실 기반의 애플리케이션을 개발하여 위치에 대한 신뢰도를 증가하고자 한다. 특히, 캠퍼스 가이드 서비스 애플리케이션을 개발하여 기존의 다른 애플리케이션의 문제점을 개선하고자 한다.

Background/Aims: Tegoprazan, a novel potassium-competitive acid blocker, has shown rapid action and gastric acid inhibition. In this study, we evaluated the efficacy of a tegoprazan-based, nonbismuth-containing quadruple (concomitant) therapy for the primary eradication of Helicobacter pylori. Methods: We conducted a prospective, single-arm, single-center, primitive study to verify the efficacy of a 10-day tegoprazan- based (50-mg dose) concomitant therapy, including amoxicillin (1,000-mg dose), clarithromycin (CLA; 500-mg dose), and metronidazole (MET; 500-mg dose) twice daily as a first-line treatment for H. pylori eradication. Results: We tested consecutive cultures for antibiotic susceptibility and minimum inhibitory concentrations. We enrolled 84 participants; 79 (94.0%) completed first-line therapy. The overall intention-to-treat and per-protocol eradication rates were 90.5% (95% confidence interval [CI], 82.1−95.8) and 96.2% (95% CI, 83.4–97.6), respectively. Of the 73 participants evaluated for antibiotic resistance, 19 (26.0%), 32 (42.5%), and 8 (11.0%) exhibited CLA, MET, and CLA and MET dual resistance, respectively. Of these, 39 participants (66.1%) exhibited successful eradication after the therapeutic regimen despite antibiotic resistance. Conclusions: The 10-day tegoprazan-based concomitant therapy may be an effective first-line treatment for eradicating H. pylori.
