NHERF1/EBP50 (Na+/H+ exchanger regulating factor 1; Ezrin-binding phosphoprotein of 50 kDa) organizes stable protein complexes beneath the apical membrane of polar epithelial cells. By contrast, in cancer cells without any fixed polarity, NHERF1 often localizes in the cytoplasm. The regulation of cytoplasmic NHERF1 and its role in cancer progression remain unclear. In this study, we found that, upon lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) stimulation, cytoplasmic NHERF1 rapidly translocated to the plasma membrane, and subsequently to cortical protrusion structures, of ovarian cancer cells. This movement depended on direct binding of NHERF1 to C-terminally phosphorylated ERM proteins (cpERMs). Moreover, NHERF1 depletion downregulated cpERMs and further impaired cpERM-dependent remodeling of the cell cortex, suggesting reciprocal regulation between these proteins. The LPA-induced protein complex was highly enriched in migratory pseudopodia, whose formation was impaired by overexpression of NHERF1 truncation mutants. Consistent with this, NHERF1 depletion in various types of cancer cells abolished chemotactic cell migration toward a LPA gradient. Taken together, our findings suggest that the high dynamics of cytosolic NHERF1 provide cancer cells with a means of controlling chemotactic migration. This capacity is likely to be essential for ovarian cancer progression in tumor microenvironments containing LPA.

본 연구는 마음인문학연구소에서 개발한 마음지도사 2급 프로그램 가운데 ‘마음일기’를 중심으로 마음일기가 일반적인 명상적 글쓰기와 어떠한 점에서 같고 다른지 더 나아가 그것의 원리, 치유 기제 등에 대하여 살펴보았다. 지금까지의 논의를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 마음일기의 개념과 원리에 대해 소개하였다. 마음일기는 마음지도사 2급 자격과정 중에 진행하는 하나의 프로그램으로서 여기서 말하는 마음일기란 어떠한 상황을 대할 때 일어나는 심신의 반응작용과 그것을 어떻게 처리했는지에 관한 일련의 과정을 글쓰기를 통해 ‘있는 그대로’ 기재하는 활동이다. 둘째, 마음일기가 글쓰기라는 구체적 행위를 통해 나타나며, 이러한 글쓰기는 인문학적 치유의 바탕 위에서 진행된다는 점을 염두에 두고 글쓰기치료와 글쓰기명상에 나타난 명상적 글쓰기의 역할과 치유에 대해 살펴보았다. 마음일기는 글쓰기치료보다는 글쓰기명상에 가깝다고 할 수 있다. 셋째, 마음일기에 나타난 명상적 글쓰기의 역할과 치유에 대하여 논의하였다. 마음일기는 외경에 따라 일어난 마음을 ‘있는 그대로’ 자각하고 수용하는 것을 중시한다. 여기서 ‘자각’과 ‘수용’은 명상적 글쓰기에서 강조하는 핵심적인 치유 기제로서 마음일기와 명상적 글쓰기의 공통점에 해당한다고 할 수 있다. 넷째, 마음일기의 실제 사례를 제시하여 마음일기가 구체적인 상황 속에서 어떻게 진행되는지 소개하였다. 마음일기는 ‘상황-처리내용-감정(鑑定)’의 구조적 메커니즘 속에서 진행되며 이 가운데 지도자의 감정이 중요한 의미를 갖는다. 지도자는 마음일기에 대한 가치 평가가 아닌 공감적 경청과 수용적 태도로 마음일기 작성자가 상황을 있는 그대로 알아차리고 수용할 수 있도록 돕는다.

국소 홀로그램 기록방식에 기초한 홀로그래픽 디스크 메모리

본 논문에서는 디스크형 기록매질에 이용될 수 있는 국소 홀로그램 기록방식을 연구하였다. 이 방식에서는 원통렌즈를 사용하여 기준빔을 얇은 두께로 집속하고, 그 집속된 곳에 신호빔을 쬐어 홀로그램을 기록한다. 기록매질을 기준빔의 스팟 크기보다 더 많이 이동시킴으로써 여러 개의 국소 홀로그램을 다중화한다. 국소 홀로그램 기록방식은 균일한 회절효율을 위하여 기록시간을 조절할 필요가 없다. 우리는 주어진 신호빔의 스팟 크기에 대해서 요구되는 최저의 기록매질 두께가 존재함을 보였다. Fe가 도핑된 2 mm 두께의 LiNbO$_3$광결정을 사용하여 데이터의 저장 및 복원 실험을 실행하였고, 20 bit/$\mu\textrm{m}$$^2$의 면적 저장밀도와 2.5${\times}$$10^{-3}$의 RBER(raw-bit error rate)을 얻었다. We studied a localized hologram recording method that can be used in a disk-shaped medium. In this method, the reference beam is focused by use of a cylindrical lens to get a thin spot in the medium, and then a hologram is recorded in that spot by illuminating the signal beam. Many localized holograms are multiplexed by shifting the medium by a distance more than the thin spot size of the reference beam. This method does not need recording-time scheduling for uniform diffraction efficiencies. We show that a minimal required thickness of the recording medium exists for a given spot size of the signal beam. We performed experiments for data storage and retrieval, and obtained a storage density of 20 bits/${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$$^2$ and a raw-bit error rate (RBER) of 2.5${\times}$10$^{-3}$ , when a 2 mm-thick Fe-doped LiNbO$_3$ crystal was used.

Autonomic hyperreflexia is a syndrome of massive reflex sympathetic discharge that occurs in patients with chronic spinal cord lesions above the major sympathetic splanchnic outflow (T₄-T_6). We experienced autonomic hyperreflexia that occured in a patient with spinal cord trans-section at T_5 level during general anesthesia with O₂-N₂O-halothane. Hypertension was controlled with intravenous infusion of sodium nitroprusside (1-2 ug/kg/min) and ventricular arrhythmia was treated with intra-venous lidocaine. We recommend that direct acting vasodilators are useful drugs to control hypertension in autonomic hyperreflexia during anesthesia in patients with chronic spinal cord injury.

코로나19 시대, 선불교는 어떠한 의미를 갖는가 : 법계(法界), 안심(安心), 사회적 마음챙김을 중심으로

본 연구는 코로나19 시대를 살아가는 우리에게 선불교가 갖는 의미를 크게 세 가지 관점에서 논의하였다. 첫째는 현상적인 관점에서 코로나19가 갖는 의미를 감염과 연결의 관점에서 살펴보았다. 선불교적 관점에서 모든 존재는 법계의 상호관계성을 벗어나지 않는다. 특히 선불교에서는 이러한 법계를 평상심을 통해 구체적이며 역동적인 모습으로 표상한다. 둘째는 심리적 관점에서 코로나19로 인한 불안의 문제를 선불교의 안심을 통해 논의하였다. 현재 코로나19로 인해 불안, 두려움, 분노 등이 급증한 것은 사실이나 이러한 부정적 정서는 인간 실존의 단면으로서 늘 존재하였다. 선불교에는 이러한 근원적 불안을 ‘안심’을 통해 치유하는 방법을 제시하였다. 셋째는 코로나19 시대에 선불교가 가진 주관주의의 문제를 해체하는 방법으로 ‘사회적 마음챙김’을 제안하였다. ‘사회적 마음챙김’이라는 개념은 로널드 퍼서(Ronald Purser)가 기존 마음챙김 담론의 한계를 극복하는 대안으로 강조한 것이다. 사회적 마음챙김은 주관주의의 문제를 극복할 뿐 아니라 사회적 참여와 실천을 중시한다. 현재 코로나19의 상황에서 선불교 역시 사회적 마음챙김이 가진 의미를 통해 선불교의 고유한 역사적 지향점과 가치 그리고 삶의 방식을 회복해야 할 것이다. This study discussed the meaning of Seon Buddhism for us living in the era of COVID-19 from three perspectives. First, I discussed the meaning of COVID-19 from a phenomenal point of view in terms of infection and connection. From the perspective of Seon Buddhism, all beings do not deviate from the interrelationships of the Dharma dh tu. In Seon Buddhism, in particular, this Dharma dh tu is represented in a concrete and dynamic form through a One’s original mind. Second, from a psychological point of view, the issue of anxiety caused by COVID-19 was discussed through a peaceful or stable mind of Seon Buddhism. It is true that anxiety, fear, and anger have increased rapidly due to the current COVID-19, but these negative emotions have always existed as a cross-section of human existence. Seon Buddhism suggested a way to heal this fundamental anxiety through ‘a peaceful or stable mind’. Third, ‘social mindfulness’ was proposed as a way to dismantle the problem of subjectivism of Seon Buddhism in the era of COVID-19. The concept of ‘social mindfulness’ was emphasized by Ronald Purser as an alternative that overcomes the limitations of existing mindfulness discourse. Social mindfulness not only overcomes the problem of subjectivism, but also emphasizes social participation and practice. In the current situation of COVID-19, Seon Buddhism will also need to recover the unique historical direction, value, and way of life of Seon Buddhism through the meaning of social mindfulness.
