        In this paper, collapse test of thin-walled structural member widely used for automobiles is carried out under static compression load to observe the effects of cross-sectional shape and material on the absorbing-energy capacity in the viewpoint of crashworthiness. specimens tested consist of two sorts(Aluminium, CFRP) and configurations(Cylinder, Square) with variation in thickness. Also, comparisons of Al cylinder and square specimens are made th find the influence of difference in shape on the absorbing-energy capability according as the thickness of specimen varies.

      • 장기복무 제대군인의 재취업위기와 전직지원프로그램

        본 연구의 목적은 장기복무 후 전역한 제대군인의 악화된 재취업 환경을 분석하고 그에 따른 대응방안으로서의 전직지원프로그램에 대한 개선안을 도출하는데 있다. 분 석결과 현재 우리 군에서 운용 중인 장기복무 제대군인을 위한 전직지원프로그램이 기능적인 측면에서 매우 제한적일 뿐만 아니라 실효성 측면에서도 기대에 미치지 못 함을 확인하였다. 따라서 오늘날과 같이 고용 없는 성장과 고실업의 사회경제적 환경 에서 일자리가 부족으로 인해 직면하게 될 재취업희망 제대군인들의 취업위기에 효 율적으로 대응할 수 없다. 개선안으로 우선 전직지원프로그램에서 심리적 지원을 강 화할 필요가 있다. 지속적으로 심리적 안정과 치유를 위한 카운슬링 서비스를 전역대 상자 확정 시점부터 재취업 이후까지 단계별로 구축하여 제공하는 것이 필요하다. 전 역준비기간이 너무 짧고 재직기간동안 자신의 능력을 개발할 수 있는 기회가 제한적 이다. 따라서 전역준비기간의 연장과 수요자중심의 맞춤형 직업보도교육프로그램을 발굴하고 다양한 능력개발 프로그램을 운영하여 개인에게 경력관리 기회를 확충해 주는 것이 필요하다. 군과 기업은 지속적인 소통을 통해 재취업에 대한 상호적인 요 구와 조건을 공유하여 전역 후 재취업하고자 하는 희망자들에게 양질의 일자리를 제 공할 수 있도록 새로운 일자리를 발굴하고 육성해야 한다. 정부는 법과 제도적 정비 는 물론이고 재정지원이나 세제지원을 통해 뒷받침한다. According to the analysis results our military is currently operating in support programs for long-term service veterans is very limited in terms of functional and not feasible. By improvement, psychological support to the veterans need to strengther. Ongoing psychological counseling services and the need for healing. From a global point to re-employment step is to build support. Global warm-up period is too short and limited period of self-development. Thus, global warm-up preiod should be extended and consumer-oriented reporting, custom job training program should be excavated. And on a personal level the opportunity to a career should be expanded military and corporate needs. For re-employment through ongoing communication, sharing a mutual feedback. Then comes when you want to re-employment seekers throughout their decent work should be provided. The government should support financial support and tax incentives as well as legal and institutional maintenance.

        Online Registry for Nationwide Database of Current Trend of <i>Helicobacter pylori</i> Eradication in Korea: Interim Analysis

        <P>Eradication of <I>Helicobacter pylori</I> using first-line therapy is becoming less effective. Subjects who had been treated for <I>H. pylori</I> infection were prospectively enrolled through an on-line database registry from October 2010 to December 2012. Demographic data, detection methods, treatment indication, regimens, durations, compliance, adverse events, and eradication results for <I>H. pylori</I> infection were collected. Data of 3,700 patients from 34 hospitals were analyzed. The overall eradication rate of the first-line therapy was 73.0%. Eradication failure was significantly associated with old age, concomitant medication, and comorbidity. Regional differences in eradication rates were observed. The most common first-line therapy was proton pump inhibitor-based triple therapy (standard triple therapy, STT) for 7 days (86.8%). The eradication rates varied with regimens, being 73% in STT, 81.8% in bismuth-based quadruple therapy, 100% in sequential therapy, and 90.3% in concomitant therapy. The eradication rate in treatment-naïve patients was higher than that in patients previously treated for <I>H. pylori</I> infection (73.8% vs. 58.5%, <I>P</I> < 0.001). The overall eradication rate for second-line therapy was 84.3%. There was no statistical difference in eradication rates among various regimens. <I>H. pylori</I> eradication rate using STT is decreasing in Korea and has become sub-optimal, suggesting the need for alternative regimens to improve the efficacy of first-line therapy for <I>H. pylori</I> infection.</P>

        과아밀라제혈증을 동반한 갈색세포종

        Pheochromocytoma, a catecholamine-producing tumor of the chromaffin tissue, may present with various features. Herein, we report case of 66-year-old woman with pheochromocytoma accompanying hyperamylasemia and acute abdomen. She was admitted to another hospital due to myocardial infarction 5 months ago. At that time, pheochromocytoma was suggested on the basis of hormonal studies, but she refused surgical resection. When she came to our hospital, serum amylase level was 703 U/L. Subsequent studies revealed pancreatic type isoenzyme, and elevated lipase level. After normalization of serum amylase level, she undertook laparoscopic adrenalectomy. On pathologic examination, pheochromocytoma was confirmed. There are several cases of pheochromocytoma with hyperamylasemia. In general, the source of hyperamylasemia was thought to be pulmonary endothelial cells under ischemic damage caused by potent vasoconstrictive action of circulating catecholamines. In our case, analysis of isoenzymes and serum lipase level suggest that hyperamylasemia can originate from the pancreas. Thus, pancreatitis also should be considered when serum amylase level is elevated in pheochromocytoma. (Korean J Gastroenterol 2003;42:172-175)

        Laboratory/In situ Sound Velocities of Shelf Sediments in the South Sea of Korea

        Compressional sound velocities of shelf sediments in the South Sea of Korea, were measured in situ and in the laboratory for six cores. In situ sound velocity was measured using the Acoustic Lance (frequency of 7.5-15 kHz), while laboratory velocity was measured by the pulse transmission technique (frequency of 1MHz). Physical properties were relatively uniform with sediment depth, suggesting little effect of sediment compaction and/or consolidation. Average in situ velocity at each core site ranged from 1,457 to 1,488 m/s, which was less than the laboratory velocity of 1,503 and 1,604m/s. In muddy sediments the laboratory velocity was 39-47 m/s higher than in situ velocity. In sandy sediments, the difference was greater by an average of 116 m/s. Although the velocity data were corrected by the velocity ratio method based on bottom water temperature, the laboratory velocity was still higher than the in situ velocity (11-21 m/s in muddy sediments and 91 m/s in sandy sediments). This discrepancy may be caused by sediment disturbance during core collection and/or by the pressure of Acoustic Lance insertion, but it was most likely due to the frequency difference between in situ and laboratory measurement systems. Thus, when correcting laboratory velocity to in situ velocity, it is important to consider both temperature and frequency.

        <P>Conclusion Clinical parameters such as age, diabetes, and heart failure were independent predictors of the composite of cardiac death, myocardial infarction, and stent thrombosis, whereas angiographic or procedural parameters such as lesion length and number of implanted stents were predictors of target-vessel revascularization.         Clinicopathologic Significance of Gastric and Intestinal Phenotypic Marker Expression in Gastric Carcinomas

        Background: It is well known that both gastric and intestinal phenotypic cell markers are expressed in gastric cancers. This study was aimed at investigating the correlation between gastric and intestinal phenotypic marker expression patterns of tumors and the clinicopathologic characteristics of gastric carcinomas. Methods: We evaluated phenotypic marker expression by immunohistochemical staining with monoclonal antibodies. All tumors were classified as gastric (G), gastric and intestinal mixed (GI), intestinal (I), or null (N) phenotype. Results: The tumors were phenotypically divided into G-phenotype tumors (33.2%), GI-phenotype tumors (25.7%), I-phenotype tumors (26.8%), and N-phenotype tumors (14.3%). N-phenotype tumors were associated with more corporeal location than GI- and I-phenotype tumors (p=0.009 and p=0.007, respectively), a larger size than I-phenotype tumors (p=0.007), a higher proportion of advanced gastric cancers than G-, GI-, and I-phenotype tumors (p=0.003, p<0.001, and p<0.001, respectively), more perineural invasion than G-, GI-, and I-phenotype tumors (p=0.076, p=0.003, and p=0.003, respectively), and more lymph node metastasis than GI-phenotype tumors (p=0.017). I-phenotype tumors were associated with a higher proportion of intestinal-type tumors than G-, GI-, and N-phenotype tumors (p<0.001, p=0.011, and p<0.001, respectively). Conclusion: Our results indicate that the gastric and intestinal phenotypic marker expression pattern of tumors is prognostically useful for patients with gastric carcinoma.

        The Replication Protein Cdc6 Suppresses Centrosome Over-Duplication in a Manner Independent of Its ATPase Activity

        The Cdc6 protein is essential for the initiation of chromosomal replication and functions as a licensing factor to maintain chromosome integrity. During the S and G2 phases of the cell cycle, Cdc6 has been found to inhibit the recruitment of pericentriolar material (PCM) proteins to the centrosome and to suppress centrosome over-duplication. In this report, we analyzed the correlation between these two functions of Cdc6 at the centrosome. Cdc6 depletion increased the population of cells showing centrosome over-duplication and premature centrosome separation; Cdc6 expression reversed these changes. Deletion and fusion experiments revealed that the 18 amino acid residues (197-214) of Cdc6, which were fused to the Cdc6-centrosomal localization signal, suppressed centrosome over-duplication and premature centrosome separation. Cdc6 mutant proteins that showed defective ATP binding or hydrolysis did not exhibit a significant difference in suppressing centrosome over-duplication, compared to the wild type protein. In contrast to the Cdc6-mediated inhibition of PCM protein recruitment to the centrosome, the independence of Cdc6 on its ATPase activity for suppressing centrosome over-duplication, along with the difference between the Cdc6 protein regions participating in the two functions, suggested that Cdc6 controls centrosome duplication in a manner independent of its recruitment of PCM proteins to the centrosome.

        간경변 환자에서 자발성 세균성 복막염 후에 발생하는 유착성 장폐쇄의 빈도, 예후 및 위험인자

        Background/Aims : Patients with liver cirrhosis who have experienced recurrent spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP) often show symptoms and signs indicating mechanical small bowel obstruction without obvious causes. It may result from peritoneal fibrosis and adhesion due to recurrent peritoneal inflammation, but there has been no reports about it. The aim of this study was to investigate the incidence, prognosis and risk factors of this complication in cirrhotic patients with ascites. Methods : For twenty cirrhotic patients with ascites who visited our hospital from April to December 1998, cell counts, biochemical parameters and the concentration of transforming growth factor-βin ascitic fluid were measured. They were followed up monthly until January 2000. Results: Mechanical intestinal obstruction developed in three out of nine patients with SBP, but not in the rest 11 patients without SBP. The frequency of SBP (p$lt;0.05) were significantly higher in patients who developed intestinal obstruction than in tose who did not. One patient out of three who had both SBP and subsequent intestinal obstruction died and 2 received liver transplantation, and three out of six who had only SBP without intestinal obstruction survived. Conclusions : Symptomatic intestinal obstruction may occur in patients with liver cirrhosis who have experienced SBP, and its risk increases with the increasing frequency of SBP.
