Original Article:Changing Trends in Surgery for Retinal Detachment in Korea

Purpose: To analyze trends in rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) surgery among the members of the Korean Retina Society from 2001 to 2013. Methods: In 2013, surveys were conducted by email and post to investigate the current practice patterns regarding RRD treatment. Questions included how surgeons would manage six cases of hypothetical RRD. Results were compared to those reported in 2001. Results: A total of 133 members (60.7%) in 2013 and 46 members(79.3%) in 2001 responded to the survey. Preference for pneumatic retinopexy has decreased in uncomplicated primary RRD (p = 0.004). More respondents in 2013 selected vitrectomy as the primary procedure when mild vitreous hemorrhage (p = 0.001), myopia (p = 0.044) and history of successful scleral buckling on the fellow eye (p = 0.044) were added to the primary scenario. Vitrectomy was over twice as popular in cases of pseudophakic, macula-off RRD with posterior capsular opacity (p = 0.001). Conclusions: For RRD with myopia, pseudophakia and media opacity, surgical interventions over the last decade have drastically shifted from scleral buckling and pneumatic retinopexy to vitrectomy.

This study aims to understand how Oskar Schlemmer’s convergence education has been expanded to performing arts, based on the curriculum of ‘Bauhaus(1919-1933)’ which is an arts educational institute of Germany. Oskar Schlemmer(1888-1943), a professor of Bauhaus performed collaborations between genres based on the curriculum exploring and experimentingc diverse materials, which was led to collaborations with other professors and artists in Bauhaus having influence by various arts. He continuously researches and works on ‘Human’ and ‘Space’, if we look in to his production on performing arts among his diverse works of arts, we can see the expansion of Schlemmer’s convergence education through performing arts. It is the time that emphasizing the education for training creative convergent talent and the combination of technology and arts it would be urgently needed to have a new convergence curriculum for performing arts in order to creative education led to performing arts and cultivate unique piece of performance arts.
실크/PLGA 필름에서 실크 함량이 망막색소 상피세포의 부착 및 증식 거동에 미치는 영향

망막 조직공학을 위한 생체 재료는 기계적 안전성, 생체적합성, 낮은 분해속도 등을 포함하여 in vivo에서 잠재적인 유용성을 위한 몇 가지 중요한 특징이 입증되어야 한다. 실크 필름 생체재료는 이러한 기능적인 요구에 맞게 디자인되었다. 0, 10, 20, 40, 및 80 wt%의 실크가 함유된 천연/합성물질과 하이브리드화된 silk/PLGA 필름을 용매 증발법으로 제조하였다. 1, 2, 및 3일 후에 부착된 세포 수를 확인하기 위해 MTT 분석을 하였고 SEM을 통해 필름에 부착된 세포 모폴로지를 확인하였다. 또한, mRNA 발현정도를 알아보기 위해 retinal pigment epithelium(RPE) 세포의 프라이머인 RPE65를 사용하여 RT-PCR을 실시하였고 RPE 세포의 특정 단백질인 cytokeratin의 발현을 확인하고 세포의 증식을 비교하기 위해 면역화학염색을 실시하였다. 본 실험을 통해 실크/PLGA 필름에서 20∼40 wt%실크를 함유한 경우에 RPE 세포의 부착과 증식에 가장 좋은 영향을 미치는 것을 확인하였다. Biomaterials for retinal tissue engineering must demonstrate several critical features for potential utility, including mechanical integrity, biocompatibility, and slow biodegradation. Silk film biomaterials were designed and characterized to meet these functional requirements. We prepared natural/synthetic hybrid silk/PLGA films using 0, 10, 20, 40, and 80 wt% of silk by a solvent evaporation method. MTT assay was used to confirm the number of cells attached on film at 1, 2, and 3 days, respectively. The morphology of cellular adhesion on films was also confirmed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). RT-PCR was conducted to confirm mRNA expression of retinal pigment epithelium(RPE) using RPE65 as a RPEs marker and the expression of cytokeratin were determined by immunofluorescence staining. We confirmed that the silk/PLGA film of 20∼40 wt% silk was superior for the adhesion and proliferation of RPEs.

The purpose of this study is to operate the contents of basic curriculum and art curriculum in an interdisciplinary way according to the introduction of Free Learning Semester in 2016 and helps students experience the education which includes connectivity of learning contents. To achieve that, this researcher studied a teaching-learning plan of convergence education of dance curriculum program. The expectation effects are narrowed down as follows: First, it is possible to perform the academic bridge class of subjects, and thereby students are able to learn consideration, cooperation, communication, and the sense of community. recognize the relations between dance and everyday life, and take self-regulating and creative expression activities. Secondly, it is possible to suggest convergence learning-teaching methods or the contents for class operation, and thereby help students understand them in their perspective. In the dance curriculum area, students are able to have interest in dance by collecting data, making a presentation, and experiencing creation, appreciation, and discussion, and will ponder their own thoughts and have wider perspectives. Thirdly, since teachers operate a council for the classes of Free Learning Semester, the expected competence of dance teachers will be enhanced to teach the ability to integrate flexible and creative thinking and knowledge. Therefore, based on the convergence education of dance curriculum program in which dance can be associated with other subjects relatively flexibly through convergence, if convergence-based class between dance and other subjects is provided with the use of diverse teaching-learning methods, such as discussion, discussion-based class, cooperation class, and project class, it will be possible to help learners keep having their interest in class and thereby maximize the effect of the class.

Non-Hodgkin`s lymphoma presented as a malignancy of the uterine cervix is exceedingly rare disease and accounts for approximately only 0.12-0.6% of extranodal lymphomas. Most reported cases were B-cell lymphomas and there is no consensus on the management and prognosis of the disease because of its extreme rarity. Primary T/natural killer (NK)-cell lymphoma arising from the uterine cervix is scarcely encountered that, in the review of literature, only 1 case has been reported by Mhawech et al. We encountered a woman with T/NK-cell lymphoma involving the uterine cervix that initially presented with severe vaginal bleeding. Therefore, we report the case with a brief review of literature.
올레핀 산화 반응에서 Ga(Ⅲ)-porphyrin의 촉매적 활성에 미치는 cocatalyst 효과

The catalytic oxidations of styrene in CH₂Cl₂ have been investigated using Ga(Ⅲ)porphyrin as catalyst and sodium hypochlorite as terminal oxidant. Porphyrin was TPP, (p- CH₃O)TPP, (0- CH₃O)TPP (TPP= tetraphenylporphyrin). Steric and electronic influence of various substituted pyridine(cocatalyst) support the hypothesis of the coordination of pyridine in the Ga(Ⅲ)TPPC1 catalyzed with NaC1O.
