        우울장애 환자에서 자살 시도와 트립토판 수산화 효소(Tryptophan Hydroxylase) A218C 유전자 다형성과의 관련성

        Objectives : Several lines of evidence suggest the serotonergic dysfunction involved in the biological susceptibility of suicide. Tryptophan hydroxylase (TPH), the rate-limiting enzyme in the biosynthesis of serotonin, Plays a vital role in serotonin metabolism. In a case-control study, we investigated whether the TPH gene was a susceptible factor for suicidal behavior in depressive patients. Methods : The subjects were 218 depressed patients who attempted suicide and visited emergency rooms in multi-medical centers. One hundred thirty hospitalized non-suicidal depressed patients and the 161 normal controls were matched with the suicidal group. Individuals in all 3 groups were evaluated independently by a Structured Clinical Interview for the purpose of establishing a DSM-IV criteria diagnosis (SCID). The severity of depressive symptoms was evaluated using Hamilton depression rating scale (HDRS). Results : There was no significant difference in genotype distributions and allele frequencies of TPH intron 7 A218C polymorphisms among 3 groups. Furthermore, no significant difference in genotype counts and allele frequencies of the polymorphisms was found among lethal suicidal depressed patients, non-suicidal depressed patients and the normal controls. Conclusion : This study suggests that the A218C polymorphism of the TPH gene is unlikely to have a major effect on the susceptibility of suicidal behaviors in depressive patients.

        Objectives of this study is no know an effect of coloring oxide such as CuO and Fe₂O₃ in the case of that has definite ratio on the basic components, and the an effect of colorizing agent in the present of SnO₂ and bone ash. On the three kinds of basic glaze(Iime, lime-barium and lime-magnesia glaze) the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10 and 15% CuO and the 1, 3, 5 and 7% Fe₂O₃ were added, respectively, the changed color were detected when colorizing agents(the 1, 3 and 5% of SnO₂ and the 1, 3 and 5% of bone ash) were presented as firing at the 1250℃, oxidation and reduction firing, respectively.

      • 탄소섬유의 CVD-SiC 증착특성에 미치는 CH₃SiCl₃대 H₂의 비율의 영향

        Chemical vapor deposition of SiC on carbon fibers was investigated to improve oxidation resistance of carbon fibers, which was performed at the horizontal hot-wall reactor using the reactant mixtures of CH₃SiCl₃and H₂ with carrier gas Ar. The chemical composition, oxidation resistance, and tensile strength of SiC-coated carbon fiber were investigated as functions of CH₃SiCl₃/H₂ ratio, reaction temperature, coating thickness, and so on. The composition of deposited layer revealed C rich β-SiC at low hydrogen concentration and Si rich β-SiC at high hydrogen concentration. Because Si rich β-SiC layer is easy to be converted into SiO₂ favorable to oxidation resistance, high input value of H₂/CH₃SiCl₃ mole ratio resulted in good oxidation resistance in the SiC coating layer of carbon fibers.

        항정신병약물을 처음으로 사용하는 초발 정신증 환자에서 나타나는 체중 및 대사성 지표의 변화 : 후향적 연구

        Objectives:This study was to identify weight & metabolic changes in first-episode psychotic patients with antipsychotics use and investigate the differences of weight & metabolic changes between first-episode psychotic patients and controls with antipsychotics use. Method:In this retrospective study, twenty eight first-episode psychotic patients and twenty eight controls with schizophrenia, schizoaffective or bipolar disorder defined by DSM-IV criteria were included. Information about demographic and clinical characteristics of the subjects was gathered from the medical records. Also body weight, sBP, dBP, fasting glucose, lipid profile and WBC count were evaluated before and after antipsychotics use. Rogistic regression was conducted to assess factors associated with weight gain. Results:First-episode psychotic patients showed more weight and BMI changes than controls after antipsychotics use, and these changes continue over 12 months. On the other hand, there were no significant factors associated with weight gain. Conclusion:The results of present study suggest that antispychotics is one of the major causes inducing weight gain of psychotic patients and antipsychotics-induced weight gain is more vulnerable to drug-naive first-episode psychotic patients.

        Evaluations of Inhomogeneous Shimming in $^1$H MR Spectroscopy

        In this study, we investigate the effects of poor shimming on quantitative measurement of ratios of metabolite levels by proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy ($^1$H MRS). Coefficient of variation (COV) of metabolite ratios for point resolved spectroscopy (PRESS) and stimulated-echo acquisition mode (STEAM) spectra was evaluated from a phantom containing in vivo levels of metabolites using a conventional whole body 1.5T MR system and conventional acquisition and analysis protocol. A statistical P-value was also calculated from a linear regression for relationship of metabolite ratios. N-acetylaspartate (NAA)/ creatine (Cr) and NAA/ choline (Cho) had low COV values for the long and short TE spectra (29.1 and 27.5%; 23.8 and 12.6 %), whereas Cho/Cr and Cr/Cho had high COV values (50.0 and 68.6 %; 27.5 and 29.3 %). A linear relationship between NAA/Cr and Cho/Cr, and between NAA/Cho and Cr/Cho revealed the statistical significance in the long and short TE spectra, respectively (P < 0.0001 and P < 0.0001; P = 0.015 and P = 0.005). There was no significant relationship between Cho/NAA and Cr/NAA in the measurement (P = 0.159; P = 0.910). The present study suggested that NAA/Cr and NAA/Cho could be useful for data with poor shimming in $^1$H MR spectroscopy. In conclusion, statistical significance of metabolite ratios indicated that the Cr and Cho levels could be interpreted as a significant alteration factor in the long and short TE spectra, and then should be used with care to provide precise metabolite quantification. 본 연구에서는 양성자 자기공명분광법을 이용하여 대사물질의 양적 비율 산출시 비균질한 자장보정의 영향을 정량평가하였다. 점분해분광법과 자극반향 획득법을 사용하여 대사비율의 변화상수를 전신 1.5T 자기공명장비, 기존 분석방법에 의해 평가하였다. 통게학적 분석방법으로 선형계측방법을 사용하여 P d값을 산출하였다. 결과로서 N-acetylaspartate (NAA)/ creatine (Cr)과 NAA/ choline (Cho) 비율은 긴 TE와 짧은 TE 값에 대해 낮은 COV 값은 나타낸 반면 Cho/Cr과 Cr/Cho 비율은 높은 COV 값을 나타냈다. NAA/Cr과 Cho/Cr 그리고 NAA/Cho과 Cr/Cho 비율은 긴 TE와 짧은 TE 값에 대해 상당한 긴밀한 P값을 나타냈다. (P < 0.0001 and P < 0.0001; P = 0.015 and P = 0.005). 반면 Cho/NAA과 Cr/NAA은 통게Gkr적 유의성이 발견되지 않았다. (P = 0.159; P = 0.910). 본 연구 결과에 의해서 NAA/Cr과 NAA/Cho 비율은 자기공명분광 비율산출에서 자기보정에 관계없이 가장 유용한 방법으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 Cr과 Cho는 정확한 정량측정시 가장 유용한 대사물질로 나타났다.

      • Sol-Gel Derived La_(1-x)Sr_(x)MnO₃(0.0≤x≤0.5) Oxide Thin Films

        졸-겔법을 이용하여 초거대 자기저항 현상을 나타내는 페롭스카이트계 La_(1-x)Sr_(x)MnO₃(0.0≤x≤0.5) 산화물 박막을 제조하였다. LSMO 산화물 박막은 400-900℃의 온도 범위, 산소 분위기하에서 3시간 동안 열처리 공정을 수행하였으며, 상온에서 열처리 온도 변화에 따른 자화특성, 전도 특성 및 미세구조 변화를 연구하였다. 전도 특성 측정 결과 PLD등의 고진공 증착방법에서 나타내고 있는 전형적인 고유한 초거대 자기저항 곡선을 얻을 수 있었으며, 상온의 저 자기장 영역에서 터널형 자기저항 변화 곡선을 처음으로 관찰하였다. 이러한 결과로부터 졸-겔법으로 제조된 단순 단층구조의 LSMO 박막은 다층형 구조 보다 자기센서등의 디바이스 적용에 유리함을 알 수 있었다. Perovskite-type La_(1-x)Sr_(x)MnO₃(0.0≤x≤0.5) colossal magnetoresistance thin films was synthesized through the simple sol-gel process. The thin films were annealed at different temperature of 400-900℃ in 0₂ atmosphere for 3 hours. Variation of .magnetization, magnetoresistivity, coercivity, and microstructure were studied as a function of annealing temperature at room temperature. In these measurements, we observed that the similar intrinsic colossal magnetoresistance behavior compared to La_(1-x)Sr_(x)MnO₃thin films with properties well known from films deposited by PLD or sputtering system. Also, we observed the first time that the tunneling magnetoresistance behavior in low-field at room temperature. From this result, the simple planar geometry of the thin films makes them more attractive for magnetic sensors and device applications than multilayered structures.

        The Linkage between the U.S. Commercial Media System and the Crisis of the Korean Media Industry

        Reports on the Korean culture's gaining popularity among foreign audiences have filled the Korean news media for more than a decade by now. On the other hand, some observers have begun to argue that the hyper-commercialism has brought the Korean cultural industries to a crisis. By examining a brief history of U.S. commercial media system's global spread, this paper makes an effort to understand the Korean media industry within an international and historical framework. Secondly, it analyzes the processes of Korean media industry losing its competitiveness following the Korean Wave success. Based on the research findings, this paper warns against the potentially detrimental effects of commercial media system.

        Inhibitory effect of Fucofuroeckol-A from Eisenia bicyclis on tyrosinase activity and melanin biosynthesis in murine melanoma B16F10 cells

        Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the in vitro inhibitory effects of Fucofuroeckol-A isolated from Eisenia bicyclis against tyrosinase activity and 3-isobutyl-1-methylxanthine (IBMX)-induced melanin biosynthesis in B16F10 melanoma cells. Result: Among the ethanolic (EtOH) extract of E. bicyclis and its organic solvent fractions, the ethyl acetate (EtOAc) soluble fraction showed a noticeable inhibitory effect on mushroom tyrosinase with an $IC_{50}$ value of $37.6{\pm}0.1{\mu}g/mL$. Repeated column chromatography of the active EtOAc fraction resulted in the isolation of Fucofuroeckol-A. It evidenced more potent tyrosinase inhibitory effect with an $IC_{50}$ value of $11.4{\pm}1.4{\mu}M$ than arbutin ($IC_{50}=1076.6{\pm}44.3{\mu}M$), which was used as a positive control. Lineweaver-Burk plots suggest that Fucofuroeckol-A plays as a noncompetitive inhibitor against tyrosinase. Furthermore, we have evaluated the inhibitory effects of Fucofuroeckol-A on IBMX-induced melanin formation in B16F10 melanoma cells. Fucofuroeckol-A ($12.5-100{\mu}M$) exhibited a significant inhibition of melanin production in the melanoma cells. Conclusion: In the present study, we suggested that Fucofuroeckol-A might prove possibility as a novel inhibitor of melanin biosynthesis in cosmetic applications.
