환도(環跳)(GB<sub>30</sub>)·양릉천(陽陵泉)(GB<sub>34</sub>) 온침(溫鍼)이 CFA로 유발된 백서의 류마티스 관절염에 미치는 영향

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of warm needling at $GB_{30}{\cdot}GB_{34}$ on Complete Freund's Adjuvant(CFA)-induced rheumatoid arthritis in rats. Methods : Arthritis was induced by injecting CFA subcutaneously into the left knee joint and paw. Acupuncture(AT) and warm needling(W-AT0.5, W-AT1.0) were injected at $GB_{30}{\cdot}GB_{34}$, every other day for a total of 5 times beginning on day 10 after the CFA injection. Thereafter, external shape, paw edema, serum aminotransferase and anti-inflammatory factors were assessed, and hematological and histological observations were made. Results : In paw edema volume all 3 groups(AT, W-AT0.5, W-AT1.0) showed significant decrease compared to the CFA control group. In TNF-${\alpha}$ and IL-6, all 3 groups showed significant decrease compared to CFA control group. In AST and ALT all 3 groups showed no significant change. In IL-$1{\beta}$, W-AT0.5 and W-AT1.0, groups showed significant decrease compared to the CFA control group. Leucocyte, erythrocyte and thrombocyte, all 3 groups showed no significant change. In histological observations, all 3 groups were similar to the intact group in terms of synoviocyte, cartilage lacuna and cartilage cells. Conclusions : The results suggest that warm needling at $GB_{30}{\cdot}GB_{34}$, has the effect of suppressing inflammation of CFA-induced rheumatoid arthritis in rats.

Nasopalatine duct cysts are the most common nonodontogenic developmental cyst originating in the incisive canal of maxilla and occuring in approximately 1% of the population. Clinical presentation is asymptomatic in small cysts, but shows swelling, pain and drainage from the hard palate in large cysts. The definite diagnosis should be based on clinical, radiological and histopathologic findings. The treatment of nasopalatine duct cysts consists of an enucleation of the cystic tissue, only in rare cases a marsupialization needs to be performed. We report a case of infected nasopalatine duct cyst in a 65-year-old man. He complained of painful swelling in the midline and nasolabial area. Physical examination revealed a huge tender mass in the midline of upper jaw. Diagnosis was suggested on the basis of computed tomography. Under the general anethesia, an enucleation was performed via sublabial approach. (Korean J Otorhinolaryngol-Head Neck Surg 2008;51:946-9)

Dehiscence of the bone overlying the semicircular canals has been shown to have effects on vestibular and auditory function. This case report presents a 48-year-old man presenting atypical vestibular manifestations and bilateral hearing loss. His temporal bone CT scans demonstrated bony dehiscence of posterior semicircular canal and vestibule in the right, superior and posterior semicircular canals in the left.
A Case of Post-Traumatic Meniere’s Disease

There are only a few reports of post-traumatic Meniere’s disease and there is few literature that contains detailed data associated with the disease. We report a case of post-traumatic Meniere’s disease. He suffered from tinnitus, fluctuating sensorineural hearing loss, and recurrent vertigo. Symptomatic medical treatment was not helpful and neither was soft tissue plugging around the oval and round windows during exploratory tympanotomy. Three months after soft tissue plugging, endolymphatic sac decompression surgery was performed. The patient’s symptoms improved markedly thereafter. The clinical significance of post-traumatic Meniere’s disease is described and we present a brief review of the literature.
국내 미기록 유해남조류 Raphidiopsis raciborskii의 분리 동정 최초 보고와 분자계통학적 특성 분석

As a result of global warming, aquatic ecosystems undergo changes such as the increase in the occurrence of harmful algal bloom and the introduction of new alien species. Raphidiopsis raciborskii originated in the tropical eutrophic system, but now it has expanded to the temperate zone according to climate change and has been found in many areas, including China and Japan. This cyanobacterium is a kind of harmful algae that is likely to produce toxins and has never been isolated in Korea. In this study, molecular genetic analysis was performed using cpcBA-IGS, nifH, and 16S rRNA gene that can estimate geographical relationships as well as microscopic observation of R. raciborskii isolated from a reservoir in Incheon for the first time in South Korea. The isolate was characterized by heterocyst that was responsible for nitrogen fixation at the ends of straight trichome. It was identified as R. raciborskii according to the morphology of the apical cell and akinete. Molecular genetic analysis of cpcBA-IGS and nifH showed that there is a closer relationship with the strains isolated in Asia, Europe, Australia, and Africa. R. raciborskii is highly likely to be distributed nationwide because straight, and S-shaped individuals were also observed in reservoirs in Incheon, Uiwang, and Hwaseong. In addition, since strains that produce toxins are found in Asia, and Australia, it is necessary to study their ecological characteristics along with nationwide distribution survey. 온난화에 의한 수 생태계는 유해 조류의 발생이 증가되고새로운 외래종이 유입되는 등 변화를 겪고 있다. R. raciborskii 는 열대지방의 부영양 수계에서 기원하였지만 기후변화 등 환경요인에 따라 현재 온대지역까지 그 분포 영역을 확장하여중국과 일본을 포함한 많은 지역에서 발견되고 있다. 이 남조류는 독소를 생산할 가능성이 있는 유해 조류의 일종으로, 현재까지 국내에서는 발견이 보고된 바가 없었다. 본 연구에서는 국내 최초로 인천지역의 저수지에서 분리된 R. raciborskii 를 대상으로 종 분리 배양 및 동정을 위해 현미경을 이용한 형태관찰 및 cpcBA-IGS, nifH, 그리고 16S rRNA 유전자를 이용하여 지리적 연관성을 추정할 수 있는 분자유전학적 분석을수행하였다. 분리된 균주는 직선형의 사상체로, 말단에 질소고정을 담당하는 이형세포의 위치가 특징이며, 말단세포와 휴면포자의 형태에 따라 R. raciborskii로 동정되었다. 이와 함께, cpcBA-IGS, 그리고 nifH 유전자를 이용한 분자유전학적 분석결과 아시아, 유럽, 호주, 아프리카에서 분리된 개체와 밀접한유연관계를 형성하는 것으로 관찰되었다. 반면, 16S rRNA 유전자의 계통학적 분석 결과에서는 지역별 분포 특성이 관찰되지 않았다. 2017년 이후 인천, 의왕, 화성에서 직선형 및 S자 형태의 R. raciborskii가 관찰되면서, 전국적으로 광범위한 분포를보일 가능성이 매우 높을 것으로 추정되며, 아시아와 호주에서독소를 생산하는 종이 발견되고 있기 때문에 전국적인 분포조사 및 생태학적 특성에 대한 연구가 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

Ceruminous glands are specialized apocrine glands located in the external auditory canal (EAC). Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) of the EAC is derived from these ceruminous glands. Tumors arising from these ceruminous glands are rare. Furthermore, ceruminous PA of the EAC is extremely rare. About 35 cases have been reported to date in the English literature, and only 4 cases have been reported in Korea. There are several controversial issues about these rare tumors such as nomenclature, histogenesis and classification.
