This case report included 4 cases of traumatic diaphragmatic hernias, 3 cases of non-traumatic diaphragmatic hernias, and 3 cases of eventration of the diaphragm. Among the traumatic hernias, one case was in immediate phase of traumatic diaphragmatic rupture by traffic accident, 2 cases were in intermediate phase with chronic respiratory or vague gastrointestinal symptoms after traffic accident, and the other was developed after an operation, decortication for a chronic empyema with severe pleural calcifications, damaging the diaphragm. Three cases of nontraumatic diaphragmatic hernia were presented, including 2 cases of probable Bochadlek's hernia (Parents refused operation) and a case of Morgagni's hernia with severe gastrointestinal symptoms. And three cases of eventration of the diaphragm with symptoms were also reported. Results of all treated cases were excellent.

The management of infection occurring in the space which remains after removal of lung presents considerable difficulties both for the patient and the surgeon. We have during the past one year, developed a procedure, which has been successfully applied in 4 cases of postpneumonectomy empyema by modification of Clagett's procedure. All their underlying lung diseases were pulmonary tuberculosis. The diagnosis of postpneumonectomy empyema was confirmed by thoracentesis, and bacteriologic cultures were obtained in all patients. Dead space thoracis was irrigated with various kind of antiseptic Solutions and debrided, filled with antibiotics saline solutions. The patients had a smooth post operative course except one case and was discharged from the hospital on the 3 weeks post-operative day in average. The failure case was wound leaking & redeveloped empyema, & waiting for reoperation.

In 1904, Albrecht first used the term "hamartoma" to refer to a congenital abnormal mixing of the normal components of an organ and is applied also to tumors found in many organs other than the lung. Though the term "hamartoma" of the lung have been used with the connection to the presence of cartilage, tumors that do not contain cartilagenous compont is also considered hamartoma. The authors experienced one case of endobronchial hamartoma. The patient, a 42-year-old woman, a teacher in a primary school, was admitted to our hospital with frequent attacks of hemoptysis. Bronchogram on the left disclosed abrupt blocking of bronchial filling at the bifurcation between postero-basal and lateral basal segmental bronchial substantiating a mass in the bronchial lumen. Left lower lobectomy was performed. The answer of pathology was benign endobronchial hamartoma. Postoperative course was uneventful. Discharged on 19th postoperative day.

Bullous emphysema is usually associated with extensive chronic obliterative pulmonary disease. It is the disease of old age but rare in children or infancy. The bulla in this disease is acquired one. In general the symptoms are due to not the mere presence of the bulla but the extent of underlying lung pathology as emphysema or bronchitis. Occassionally giant bulla of great size may cause symptoms and in this occassion it should be differentiated from other diseases. Especially in children or infancy pneumothorax, congenital pulmonary cyst of lobar obstructive-emphysema should be excluded. Recently we experienced 2 cases of bullous emphysema in infancy with severe respiratory symptoms because of bullae of great size. We felt difficulties in differentiating with other conditions. The purpose of this report is to review our cases thoroughly and enhance considerations of this disease.

Geothermal heat pump system (GHPS) is an energy-efficient technology that use the relatively constant and renewable energy stored in the earth to provide heating and cooling. With the aim of using GHPS as a heating source, it's possibilities of application in farrowing house were examined by measuring environmental assessment and sow's performance. A total of 96 sows were assigned to 2 pig housings (GHPS and conventional housing) with 48 for four weeks in winter season. During the experimental period, indoor maximum temperature in GHPS-housing was measured up to $26.7^{\circ}C$, average temperature could maintain $21.2^{\circ}C$. The mean value of dust levels and $CO_2$, $NH_3$ and $H_2S$ gas emissions were decreased in GHPS-housing compare with those of conventional housing. Litter size, birth weight, parity and weaning weight did not differ between housings. However, feed intake of sow in GHPS-housing was lower than that of conventional housing. In energy consumption for heating, electric power consumption increased in GHPS-housing than the conventional housing, a 2,250 kwh increase, whereas there is no fuel usage for heater in GHPS-housing. Amount of ground water circulated for heating in cold weather for earth heat exchanger was 8.4-12.9 ton per day. In conclusion, GHPS may have environmental benefits and effectiveness of heating in farrowing housing and affect the performance in sows. 지열히트펌프를 이용한 축사용 냉난방시스템을 개발하고 농장 적용성을 검토하기 위하여 330 $m^2$ 규모의 농장에 개발 시스템을 설치하여 돈사에서의 난방 이용효과를 분석하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 지열 난방시 부하량은 24,104 kcal이었으며 농장시험 지열이용 냉난방시스템의 제원은 히트펌프 용량은 10 USRT 였으며, 상부 덕트형 30,000 kcal 홴코일유니트를 사용하였으며 FCU의 풍량은 90 $m^3$/분 이었다. 2. 지열 난방 1주령시 외부 최고기온 $14.2^{\circ}C$, 최저 영하 $9.3^{\circ}C$일때 시험구는 평균 $21.5^{\circ}C$로서 대조구 $19.8^{\circ}C$에 비하여 높았다. 3. 지열 난방 시험돈사의 먼지 농도는 PM10 185.3, PM2.5 40, PM1.0 $23.4{\mu}g/m^3$으로 대조구 PM10 481.4, PM2.5 47, PM1.0 $28.2{\mu}g/m^3$에 비하여 낮았다.4. 지열 난방 시험돈사의 유해가스농도는 $CO_2$ 1,470, $NH_3$ 10.6, $H_2S$ 0.05 ppm으로서 대조구 $CO_2$ 2,025, $NH_3$ 23.3, $H_2S$ 0.69 ppm에 비하여 유의적으로 (p<0.05) 낮았다. 5. 지열난방시 복당 이유두수는 10.5두로 대조구 10.4두에 비하여 높았으며 이유시체 중도 6.93 kg으로 대조구 6.86 kg에 비하여 컸으며 특히 온도가 낮은 대조구에서 모돈사료 섭취량이 99.6 kg으로 시험구 88.2 kg 보다 유의적으로 (p<0.05) 많았다. 6. 지열 난방시 외부기온과 지하수 순환량에 있어서 외부기온이 낮을 경우 1일간 8.4-12.9톤으로 지하수 순환량이 많았다.

N/A The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficiency of the pulmonary perfusion scan(Pp scan) in the experimental animal single lung transplantation. Eight left lung transplanted mongrel dogs were included in this study. The serial Pp scan with 111M.Bq 99mTc- MAA were done at the periods of immediate postoperative period, POD 3 days, and POD 10-14 days and finally autopsy was done in each cases. The transplanted lung perfusion was analysed as a percentage radioactivity of transplanted/native lung(T/N) ratio. The Pp scan of a donor mongrel dog was used as a reference(left/right lung (T/N) ratio : 85.2%). The average T/N ratio of all cases on immediate postoperative state(reperfusion injury) : 19.2%, three acute rejections : 12.6%, three bronchial dehiscences : 6.1% and two pulmonary thromboses : 2.0% Two cases showed moderate improvement of reperfusion injury as increasing the T/N ratio in POD 3 days Pp scan. The T/N ratio showed sequentially decreased in six cases. As a conclusion, the Pp scan could be a noninvasive method in the evaluation of the experimental one-lung transplanted mongrel dog.

지열냉방시스템을 분만돈사에 적용하여 냉방효과 및 분만돈과 자돈의 생산성을 조사하였다. 처리구는 지열냉방돈사와 관행돈사로 2개로 나누였으며, 돈사당 각각 모돈 48두씩를 수용하여 하절기 4주간 시험을 실시하였다. 시험결과, 외부기온이 $33.0^{\circ}C$ 이상으로 더운 날에는 냉방을 위한 지하수 순환량이 많이 소요되어 최고기온과 지하수 순환량이 아주 밀접한 정의 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 지열냉방 돈사의 온 습도 변화의 경우 최고기온은 관행돈사에 비하여 낮게 유지되고, 최저기온도 많이 떨어지지 않아 일교차가 훨씬 적었다. 미세먼지 입자가 상대적으로 큰 PM 10은 지열냉방돈사가 관행돈사에 비하여 최고 61.4% (111.1 vs 42.9) 까지 감소되었다. 그러나 작은 입자의 분진은 오히려 지열 냉방구에서 약간 높은 경향이었다. 암모니아가스 배출량의 경우 지열냉방돈사는 관행돈사에 비하여 유의하게 (p<0.05) 감소하였다. 총 3회에 걸쳐 측정된 임신돈의 호흡수는 지열냉방돈사에서 유의적으로 (p<0.05) 감소하였고, 에피네프린과 노르에피네프린 호르몬의 경우에 지열냉방돈사에서 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 이유시 체중은 지열 냉방돈사가 관행돈사에 비하여 유의적으로 (p<0.05) 증가하였으며, 여름철 모돈의 사료 섭취량은 관행돈사에서 유의적으로(p<0.05) 감소하였다. 따라서 지열냉방시스템은 여름철 분만사의 온 습도를 낮게 유지시킬 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 분진, 암모니아 가스 발생량 빛 모돈의 호흡수 감소에 영향을 주어 모돈과 포유자돈의 생산성을 개선시킬 수 있다. The principal objective of this study was to investigate the cooling effects of geothermal heat pump system (GHPS) in farrowing house. A total of 96 sows were allocated to 2 pig housings (GHPS and conventional housing) with 48 for four weeks in summer season. During the experimental period of four weeks, the highest outside temperature observed was approximately $34.1^{\circ}C$, GHPS decrease indoor temperature of pig housing up to $30.9^{\circ}C$, but conventional pig housing was similar to outside temperature. Dust concentrations (maximum 61.4%) of particulate matter less than $10{\mu}m$ (PM 10) in GHPS-housing were lower than the conventional housing. GHPS showed no signigicant difference in carbon dioxide emission, whereas the ammonia gas concentration was significantly decreased in GHPS-housing compared to that of conventional housing. Sows in GHPS-housing showed significantly lower respiratory rate than those of the control group. GHPS did not affect hormone level, litter size and birth weight, but weaning weight of piglets was influenced by GHPS. Feed consumption of sows was significantly increased in GHPS-housing compared to the conventional hosing. These results suggest that GHPS decrease dust concentration, ammonia gas emission and indoor temperature of pig housing and may affect performance in sows and weaned piglets.
