The psychophysiological detection of deception (PDD) test is a scientific investigative technique widely used in many cases, but its admissibility of evidence remains controversial, and the Supreme Court has negative views on it. In recent decades, however, PDD devices and analysis techniques have advanced significantly, and many scientific studies have confirmed their accuracy. Due to their sufficient probative value, PDD test results are deemed to be admissible as evidence in criminal cases. As for the Supreme Court, it has demonstrated a somewhat flexible attitude in determining the authenticity of statements by introducing concepts such as “gender sensitivity”and “no victimhood.” It is believed that this is an attempt to promote specific rationality outside the existing framework of logic and empirical rules regarding the imparting of probative value to evidence. However, excessively strict standards are applied to PDD tests, which does not grant qualifications as evidence and deprive even the opportunity to review the probative value. Such distrust and prejudice should not be used as a basis for dismissing scientific evidence lightly. Rather, evidentiary value of the PDD test results needs to be reconsidered in light of scientific principles, inspection methods and procedures, excellent inspection equipment, and research findings concerning accuracy. A re-evaluation of PDD tests as such is necessary in order to improve its use and to supplement the fact-finding process with reasonable judgments based on scientific evidence during investigations and trials.
The Meteorological Correlation Analysis of Abnormal Flight Operations at Domestic Airports

Since flight operations are determined by real-time weather conditions, the importance of weather information utilization in the airline industry is absolutely critical. Especially, abnormal flight operations due to the weather phenomenon is directly linked to a loss of airline, and also causes a deterioration in the quality of customer service. Therefore, this study analyzes occurrence conditions and correlates abnormal flight operations by the meteorological phenomenon at 4 major airports in Korea. Based on these results, it is aimed to provide a basis for stable flight operation to make the best decisions.
