Recently, as the level of treatment at animal hospitals has improved, there has been tremendous growth in the number and types of laboratory tests for accurate diagnosis. Laboratory testing is critical for disease diagnosis, follow-up, and appropriate treatment implementation in veterinary hospitals. It occupies an important aspect not only in the diagnostic aspect but also in the income of hospitals. Accordingly, the role of veterinary nurse in conducting clinical pathological tests is emphasized, and they must be performed in the quality control and accurate methods of various laboratory equipment, and maintain a safety laboratory environment, medical waste treatment, quality control of test value, and record keeping. Institutions that train veterinary nurse should focus on nursing and medical assistance and other hospital management tasks such as guardian counseling, management of supplies, drug management, waste management, and various clinical pathological tests to help diagnose, so increase their treatment efficiency of animal hospitals and veterinarians.
A report of 31 unrecorded bacterial species isolated from freshwater

A total of 31 bacterial strains were isolated from the Geum River basin in the Republic of Korea during our investigation of indigenous prokaryotic species. The isolated bacterial strains had high 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity (>98.7%) with those of validly published bacterial species, which have not been reported in Republic of Korea. The 31 bacterial strains were phylogenetically diverse and assigned to 4 phyla, 8 classes, 18 orders, 21 families, and 27 genera. At the genus level, the unreported species were affiliated with Kineococcus, Pedococcus, Rhodoluna, Salinibacterium, Rhodoluna, Arthrobacter, Williamsia, Nakamurella, Nocardioides of the class Actinobacteria, Patulibacter of the class Thermoleophilia, Pontibacter, Hymenobacter of the class Cytophagia, Flavobacterium of the class Flavobacteriia, Geomicrobium of the class Bacilli, Brevundimonas, Gellertiella, Rhizobium, Paracoccus, Taonella, Sphingomonas of the class Alphaproteobacteria, Burkholderia, Polaromonas, Hydrogenophaga, Chitinilyticum, Azospira, Zoogloea of the class Betaproteobacteria, and Pseudomonas of the class Gammaproteobacteria. The unreported bacterial species were further characterized by examining their morphological, cultural, physiological, and biochemical properties. The detailed descriptions of the 31 bacterial strains were provided.
과원 환경과 경관 요소가 사과원 주요 나방류 해충 발생에 미치는 영향

농업생산생태계 내 경관의 구조와 구성은 해충과 천적을 비롯한 생물다양성을 결정하는 중요한 요소이다. 이 연구는 경남 거창군 80개 사과원 을 대상으로 경관 구조가 나비목 해충의 발생에 영향을 미칠 수 있는지를 조사하였다. 과수원의 지정학적 특징, 농약 사용패턴과 과원 관리 방법 등에 대한 정보는 설문 조사를 통해 추가로 분석하였다. 과수원 주변 경관 구조는 인공위성자료에 바탕하여 추출하였다. 복숭아순나방 발생량이 가장 많았고, 사과굴나방, 복숭아심식나방, 사과잎말이나방 순으로 발생하였다. 농가에서는 살균제와 살충제를 각 12.4회, 살비제는 2.4회 살포하였다. 대부분 사과원 주변 식생은 사과 또는 논이었으며, 자두, 복숭아, 포도 또는 폐과원이 있을 경우 복숭아순나방 밀도가 특히 높았다. 복숭아심식나방 역시 주변에 복숭아나 포도가 있을 경우 그 발생량이 더 높았다. 사과굴나방은 복숭아, 포도, 폐과원 그리고 대추가 있는 지역에서 발생량이 많았다. 이러한 결과는 농업 지역에서 경관 관리는 농촌 어메니티 개선뿐 아니라 병해충 관리의 차원에서 기능적 다양성을 추구하는 방향으로 진행되어야 한다는 점을 시사한다. Landscape composition and structure are important factors determining biological diversity including pests and natural enemires in agricultural ecosystem. This study was conducted to indentify effect of landscape composition on occurrence of lepidopteran pest population in Geochang, Gyoungdnam. For this, orchard characteristics and management practices were surveyed in 80 conventional apple orchards in Geochang, Korea, along with the monitoring of pest population densities. The landscape features of each surveyed orchard also obtained by extracting information from the public-service map. Grapholita molesta was the most dominat and damaging pest followed by Phyllonorycter ringoniella and Carposina sasakii in trap catches. Adoxophyes paraorana occurrences were low. Farmers spray insecticides and fungicides ap. 12.4 times per year respectively while acaricides were sprayed 2.4 times. Major landscape features such as surrounding apple orchard or paddy field did not influence the pest populations but presence of plum, peach, wild peach, graph, and even abandoned orchards significantly resulted in higher pest population mostly on G. molesta. C. sasakii population was higher in orchards with grape, peach, and P. ringoniella with peach, grape, abandoned orchards and jujube. Results highlight the need of landscape management not only for the rural amenity but also for increasing functional diversity of agroecosystem as well as reducing pest population.

We reviewed IUI(28 cases), IPI(5 cases), POST(4 cases), GIFT(6 cases), performed in EWHA Woman's University Hospital from 1988 March to 1993 June. And the results were as follows. 1) The mean ages of patients were 29.9±3.7(IUI), 30.7±2.6(IPI), 29.3±1.2(POST), 30.3±4.3(GIFT) and the durations of infertility were 3.7±1.9(IUI), 3.0±1.9(IPI), 2.3±0.9(POST), 3.4±1.7(GIFT) years. 2) The major causes of infertility in IUI were tubal factor(9 cases), unexplained infertility(5 cases), in IPI and IUI tubal factor was 2 cases, and in GIFT, unexplained in fertility was 5 cases. 3) The major method of ovulation induction was clomiphene citrate in IUI, and FSH/hMG in IPI, POST and GIFT. 4) The result of pregnancy were 2 cases in IUI(7.1%), 1 case in IPI(20%), POST 1 case(25%), and 2 case in GIFT(33.%).
