In order to study the effects of Carthami Flos on the hyperlipidemia, we made hyperlipidemic model by injection of Triton WR-1339 150mg/kg to rats during 3 days. 1 hour after the final injection of Triton WR-1339, Carthami Flos extracts were administered to rats 2ml/200g(p.o.). And after 24 hours, we measured the levels of serum total cholesterol, triglyceride, phospholipid and HDL-cholesterol. The results are summarized as follows. 1) Serum total cholesterol levlel of Sample group was significantly decreased compared with Control group(p<0.05). 2) Serum triglyceride level of Sample group was significantly decreased compared with Control group(p<0.01) 3) Serum phospholipid levlel of Sample group was significantly decreased compared with Control group(p<0.05). 4) Serum HDL-cholesterol level of Sample group was significantly increased compared with Control group(p<0.05).

Artesian Pressure exists in Hwa Jeon Project Site of Nakdong Delta Area. Maxium value of the pressure ranges between 06 tonf/m2 and 1 3 tonf/m2 in the design site. This paper presents a design case study considering the Artesian Pressure to calculate the consolidation settlement of the deep marine clay.

Tracking and detecting targets by the M/W seeker is affected by the clutter reflecting from the earth's surface. In order to detect the look-down retreating targets, which appear in the sidelobe clutter region, in the M/W seeker of High PRF mode, it is necessary to understand statistical characteristics of the surface sidelobe clutter. Statistical analysis of sidelobe clutter is conducted for several configurations of the surface using data obtained by the CFT (Captive Flight Test) of the M/W seeker in High PRF mode. The probability density function(PDF) fitting is conducted for several configuration and conditions of the surface. PDFs and PDF parameters, which best describe statistical distribution of sidelobe clutter, are estimated.

As a rule, high temperature superconducting coated conductors have multi-layered buffers consisting of seed, diffusion barrier and cap layers. Multi-buffer layer deposition requires longer fabrication time. This is one of main reasons which increases fabrication cost. Thus, single buffer layer deposition seems to be important for practical coated conductor process. In this study, a single layered buffer deposition of $CeO_2$ for low cost coated conductors has been tried using thermal evaporation technique. 100 nm-thick $CeO_2$ layers deposited by thermal evaporation were found to act as a diffusion layer. $1\;{\mu}m-thick$ SmBCO superconducting layers were deposited by thermal co-evaporation on the $CeO_2$ buffered Ni-5%W substrate. Critical current of 90 A/cm was obtained for the SmBCO coated conductors.

A newborn male baby was transferred to our hospital with a left inguinal mass. The mass was huge measuring $10{\times}10cm$, engorged, and dark-blue colored as a result of internal hemorrhage. Unstable vital signs were combined with DIC and acute renal failure. Emergency operation was performed because of the suspicion of bowel perforation. The peritoneal cavity was full of ascitis and the distal jejunum had a 0.5 cm perforation. Segmental resection of the jejunum and incisional biopsy of the inguinal mass were performed. On pelvic and thigh MRI, the mass protruded into pelvic cavity and encircled large vessels and nerves of the thigh. Pathologic diagnosis was congenital infantile fibrosarcoma. Fifteen days after operation, primary tumor excision was undertaken. The second look operation, performed after 6 times VAC chemotherapy, revealed no remained malignant cell on microscopic section. The baby has been followed closely for the last eight months.

Purpose: Posterior retroperitoneoscopic adrenalectomy (PRA) for small adrenal tumors has recently been in the spotlight due to its several benefits. Compelling advantages for endoscopic surgeons include direct, safe, and fast approach to the adrenal gland without trespass to the intraperitoneal organ. This study reports our initial experiences of PRA for the management of adrenal tumors. Methods: From December 2009 to August 2011, 63 patients underwent PRA for the management of adrenal tumor. Among these patients, laparoscopic adrenalectomy and robotic adrenalectomy were performed in 54 and nine patients, respectively. We retrospectively reviewed records of all surgical outcomes. Results: Of the 54 patients, 22 were male and 32 were female, and mean age was 51.7±14.0 years. Mean body mass index was 24.6±3.6 kg/m<SUP>2</SUP> and mean dimension of the tumors was 2.66±1.36 cm. Six patients were diagnosed with Cushing's disease, 22 patients with primary aldosteronism, seven patients with pheochromocytoma, one patient with metastatic adrenal gland cancer, and 18 patients with nonfunctioning adrenal tumors. Mean operative time was 88.5±27.1 min, mean blood loss was 17.4±37.4 ml, and mean duration to first oral intake was 0.83±0.4 days. Mean number of postoperative analgesics used was 2.28±2.54, and mean postoperative hospital stay was 2.85±1.43 days. There was no open conversion during the operation and no post-operative complication. Conclusion: PRA is a safe and fast procedure. In experienced hands, PRA represents one of the ideal approaching methods in the adrenal gland surgery. (Korean J Endocrine Surg 2011;11:287-291)

Statement of problem : Fracture of composite resin core will be occulted by progress of crack. Bonding interface of different materials has large possibility of starting point of crack line. Therefore, the bond strength of glass fiber post to composite resin core is important for prevention of fracture. Purpose: This in vitro study tried to find out how to get the higher strength of glass fiber post to composite resin core through surveying the maximum load that fractures the post and cote complex. Materials and methods: 40 specimens made with glass fiber Posts(Style $post^{(R)}$, Metalor, Swiss) and composite resin core ($Z-100^{(R)}$, 3M, USA) were prepared and loaded to failure with push-out type shear-bond strength test in a universal test machine. The maximum fracture load and fracture mode were investigated in the specimens that were restored with four different surface treatments. With the data. ANOVA test was used to validate the significance between the test groups, and Bonferroni method was used to check if there is any significant statistical difference between each test group. Evely analysis was approved with 95% reliance. Results: On measuring the maximum fracture load of specimens, both the treatments of sandblasted and acid-etched one statistically showed the strength increase rather than the control group (p<0.005). The scanning electric microscope revealed that sand blasting made more micro-retention form not only on the resin matrix but on the glass fiber, and acid-etching contributed to increase in surface retention form, eliminated the inorganic particles in resin matrix. Specimen fracture modes investigation represented that sand blasted groups showed lower bonding failure than no-sand blasted groups. Conclusion: Referring to the values of maximum fracture load of specimens, the bonding strength was increased by sand blasting and acid-etching.
