Antibiotics are frequently administered for prophylaxis during anesthesia . Vaneomycin has increasingly become the antibiotic of choice due to the rising incidenee of resistant staphylococcal infections. Patients allergic to penicillin are candidates for vancomycin. Commonly reported adverse reactions of vancomycin include ; fever,chills, nausea, pain at the injection site, phlebitis, nephrotoxicity, ototoxicity, hypotension, cardiac arrest, broncho- spasm, noncardiogenic pulmonary edema and the so-called Red-Man's syndrome or Red Neck syndrome, Recently, we encountered two patients who had adverse reactions of vancomycin perioperatively. Vancomycin induced hypotension usually results from a negstive inotropic and vasodilator effect produced by a histamine-release phenomenon, which occurs most commonly with rapid intravenous infusion of the drug. Such a release of histarnine may also produce an acute urticarial flushing of the upper torso ($quot;Red Neek syndrome$quot;), pain and muscle spasm in the chest or parasternal muscles, which may mimic myocardial infarction. These effects usually abate promptly when the infusion of vancomycin is discontinued, and their resolution may be expedited by sdministration of an inotropic agent

The major risk factors for diabetics undergoing surgery are the end-organ diseases associated with diabetes. Autonomic neuropathy is relatively common in diabetic patients and associated with an increased risk of perioperative cardiovascular instability. We experienced a case of severe bradycardia and hypotension during general anesthesia for subtotal gastrectomy in a 59 year-old male diabetic patient. Anesthesia was induced with thiopental and vecuronium, and was maintained with nitrous oxide, oxygen and enflurane. Five minutes after induction, severe bradycardia and hypotension developed without specific events. The bradycardia was unresponsive to intravenous atropine and ephedrine, but the blood pressure was restored by administration of ephedrine. During operation his blood pressure was maintained in normal range but the bradycardia was not restored by additional administration of atropine. Postoperatively, myocardial infarcton was ruled out. The test performed after operation suggested that his cardiovascular autonomic nervous system was severely impaired. We think that cardiovascular autonomic dysfunction should be evaluated during preoperative period to plan the anesthetic management and to prevent severe cardiovascular complications in diabetic patients.
맹꽁이 (Callula tornieri) 幼生의 體色變化에 미치는 明暗의 影響

A tail-darkening reaction is described for larvae of the Microhyla frog. Callula tornieri Tails are black in the light because melanophores in the dermal layer(dermis) of the fin be come dendritic. In darkness the melamphores are punctate and the tail appears black. This photosensitivity is local since tail-darkening in isolated tail and in intact tadpoles occurs equally well. Correlations between tail-darkening and morpholagical and behaviral (feeding activities charecteristics are discussed from comparisons with Agalychinus larvae.

기내에서 삽목 배양중인 한라구절초[( Chrysanthemum zawadskii ssp. coreanum(Nakai) Y.N. Lee)]의 잎으로부터 효과적인 식물체 재생을 위한 NAA와 BA농도 및 배지고형물의 효과를 조사하였다. 0.2% Gelite를 고형물로 하였을 때 한라구절초의 잎 재분화에는 BA농도보다는 NAA 농도가 더 영향을 미쳤으며, NAA 농도가 1 mg/L 이상이면 모든 조직 에서 재분화를 보였다. 신초수는 NAA 단용 처리에서 많은 경향이었으며 NAA 1 mg/L 처리시가 가장 양호하였다. 배지고형물로 agar과 gelite를 가지고 재분화 효과를 조사한 결과, gelite 첨가시 잎절편 당 신초수가 많았으며 agar 첨가시에는 잎절편당 신초수가 적은 반면에 신초의 길이가 길게 나타났다. 한라구절초의 잎절편으로부터 재분화에는 MS에 3% sucrose, 0.8% agar와 NAA 1 mg/L를 첨가하여 25 $^{\circ}C$, 2,000 lux 정도에서 배양하는 것이 효과적이었다. The effect of plant growth regulators and gelling agents for plant regeneration from leaf segment of Chrysanthemum zawadskii ssp. coreanum was investigated. NAA was more effective than BA for plant regeneration. MS medium supplemented with NAA 1 mg/L was the most effective in plant regeneration. The effect of agar and gelite as gelling agent was compared. Agar(0.8%) was more effective than gelite(0.2%) in plant regeneration. Regenerated shoots was successfully increased by shoot grafting in MS medium supplemented with NAA 0.1 mg/L in vitro, and hardened by shoot grafting in artificial soil mix(Peatmoss : Perlite = 1 : 1).
Occlusogram 을 이용한 정상교합자의 악궁형태에 관한 연구

This study was designed to get the Knowledges of the dental arch shapes of Koreans. The subjects consisted of 101 individuals with normal occlusion. The results were as follows; 1. Author found the ideal arch shape of normal occlusion. 2. The regression curve and equations of normal occlusion were obtained from SPSS. 3. Ideal arch form and superimposition form were obtained by Versa-cad.
