The Orbital fracture which is often combined with midface fracture can cause decreased visual acuity, limitation of eyeball movement, diplopia, enophthalmos, etc. Traumatic orbital fracture causes change of orbital volume, results in diplopia and enophthalmos thus, accurate repositioning of displaced bone and reconstruction of orbital defect with autogenous materials(cranial, rib, iliac bone, cartilage and fascia lata) or alloplastic materials(gelatin film, polyglactin mesh, methylmethacrylate, Teflon, silicone, Supermid, hydroxyapatite and metal). The key point of reconstruction of orbit is accurate repositioning of displaced orbital floor, lateral, medial orbital wall and sufficient bonegraft in anatomical defect. As this cases, we obtained good results through transconjunctival and coronal approach who were required orbital reconstruction. Also, we accurately diagnosed orbital fracture with C.T., 3D model and good result for orbital reconstruction with sufficient parietal block bone graft during average 16.8 months follow-up.

The texture and mechanical properties during fabrication processes - extrusion, cold rolling and aging treatment - of plate in the 7050 Al alloys without/with 0.1%Sc were investigated. In both the cross section(CS) and longitudinal section(LS) of the specimen without Sc, after cold rolling, texture of R-fiber was predominant. In the Sc added alloy after cold rolling, {112}<111>(Cu)+weak (123)<634>(S) texture components developed in the CS of the specimen while strong (3-fiber+(110)<001>(Goss) components developed in the LS of the specimen. After solution treatment and aging treatment, the alloy (CS and LS) without Sc had random texture, but by the alloys with the 0.1%Sc, the components of the rolling texture are not changed. After the aging treatment, hardness and tensile strength of the alloy with 0.1%Sc increased about 15% and 17%, respectively, than those without Sc. Tensile strength of the Sc added specimen was the highest along the rolling direction where the <111> texture was strongly developed. On the other hand, in the specimen without Sc, the mechanical properties were not dependent on the direction of the sample. (Received May 3, 2004)

In this paper, the transformer type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) with additionally coupled circuit was suggested and its peak fault current limiting characteristics due to the fault condition to affect the fault current were analyzed through the fault current limiting tests. The suggested transformer type SFCL is basically identical to the previous transformer type SFCL except for the additional coupled circuit. The additional coupled circuit, which consists of the magnetically coupled winding to the primary and the secondary windings together with another superconducting element and is connected in parallel with the secondary winding of the transformer type SFCL, is contributed to the peak fault current limiting operation for the larger transient fault current directly after the fault occurrence. To confirm the fault current limiting operation of the suggested SFCL, the fault current limiting tests of the suggested SFCL were performed and its effective peak fault current limiting characteristics were analyzed through the analysis on the electrical equivalent circuit.
The effects of the elastin polymorphisms on carotid intima-media thickness in women aged 30 - 70

[Purpose] Elastin is one of the major determinants of arterial distensibility of large blood vessels that forms the principal component of elastic fibers from the media of arteries. However, the association between elastin(ELN) genotype and vascular function is still unclear. [Methods] 120women were recruited from the Saha-gu (Busan, Korea) Community Center. Measurements of body composition and vascular function included carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT), carotid artery luminal diameter (CLD), minimum (diastolic) artery luminal diameter (CLDmin) and maximum (systolic) artery luminal diameter (CLDmax). Genotyping for the ELN (rs 2071307) polymorphism was performed using the TaqMan approach. ELN gene distribution of subjects were in the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (p=0.402). [Results] The relative CIMT differed significantly among the ELN genotypes. And not significant differences in CLD and CIMT/CLD ratio, but AA genotype was tended higher than other genotypes (AG and GG). The relative CIMT and CLD min differed significantly between the ELN alleles. And not significant differences in CLD max and CIMT/CLD ratio, but A allele was tended higher than G allele. [Conclusion] These results suggest that ELN gene polymorphism might be used a one of the genetic determinants of vascular disease in both pre- and postmenopausal women.

The COL5A1 genotype is associated with range of motion

Purpose The aim of our study was to investigate the association between COL5A1 genotype and Range of Motion as measured by the passive straight leg raise (SLR) and whole body join laxity (WBJL) in Asian population. [Methods] One hundred and seventy seven participants including Korean and Japanese college students (male = 109, female = 68) participated in the study. Each subject performed the passive straight leg raise and whole body join laxity test. Genotyping for the COL5A1 (rs 12722) polymorphism was performed using the TaqMan approach. The COL5A1 genotype exhibited a Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium distribution in our population. [Results] The physical parameters including height, weight, and BMI were higher in < 90° group than > 90° group. The SLR exhibited significant difference among the COL5A1 group. However, the WBJL did not differ significantly among the COL5A1 genotype, but significant difference was seen in CC genotype when compared to CT (2.99 ± 1.72) or TT (2.70 ± 1.52) genotype. [Conclusion] We concluded that COL5A1 gene polymorphism is associated with increased SLR ROM in Asian population.

[Purpose] Regular exercise or physical activity is an important for improving health and body composition. However, increasing disability is linked to decreasing levels of physical activity and lack of exercise or physical activity may contribute to an increased risk of obesity which known to negatively affect disease. Thus, most important maintain exercise or physical activity for health. The purpose of this study was to determine changes serum lipids, inflammatory and physical activity quantity of night shift workers. [Methods] 30 male participants who night shift workers; 15 male are experimental group and 15 male are control group. The experimental group underwent three time 10-min bouts (30 minutes of day), 3day of week, 10 weeks of intermittent exercise. Measurements comprised serum lipids, inflammatory and physical activity quantity. [Results] After intermittent exercise, the TC, LDL-C, HLD-C, IL-6, TNF-α and CRP are statistically significant. Physical activity quantity did not change intervention 10 weeks and follow up 4 weeks. Also did not change physical activity quantity ≥ 3 METs in both groups. [Conclusion] Therefore, these findings suggest that after intermittent exercise may represent an effective intervention strategy for improving serum lipids, inflammatory and keep the physical activity ≥ 3 METs, leading to improved quality of life in night shift workers.
