      • CROSS 공법을 이용한 폐수의 생물학적 처리에 관한 연구

        This study aims to develop using a continuous removal of organic and settling solid(CROSS) to increase the efficiency of aeration system for wastewater treatment. To solve many problems of the conventional activated-sludge process, authors suggested a new CROSS model in conjunction with aeration systems in 1996. This system is characterized by utilizing an intensive aeration pipe with inlets at the lower portion and outlets at the higher portion in an aeration tank. Through the experiments on CROSS process, the average removal efficiences of BOD, COD_(Mn), SS, T-N and T-P were showed 98.8%, 93.9%, 98.0%, 71.3% and 49.8%. The average DO (Dissolved-Oxygen) concentration was constantly maintained at 8.0 mg/L by the intensive aeration which was accompanied by rapid reduction of BOD. Degradation of the organic matters in sewage then continued for the whole aeration period. The process demonstrated that it was very adaptive without seeding and returning the sludge. Compared to the activated sludge system, the system was very flexible for the continuous flow treatment. This preliminary assessment showed that the porous media in CROSS reactor is viable for the sewage treatment, since the porous media under the intensive aeration achieves acceptable effluent quality.

        Reading plays a large part in emotional and intellecutal growth of children. For that reason, infants' reading rooms have emphasized the cultural and educational function for the children recently. This research analyzed spatial arrangement features and interior design of infants' reading rooms in five public libraries through case studies. The results are as follows: First, infants' reading rooms are consists of data storing area, office area, reading area and convenience area. Second, infants' reading rooms generally have bookcases around the walls and the reading space, tables, and stools in the middle. Third, reading rooms lack elements that could make them fun and interesting to children. In conclusion, infants' reading rooms in public libraries, should consider the furniture arrangements, interior designs.

        To investigate the understanding of middle-school students about the plants described in the middle-school textbooks, a questionnaire concerning the observation and understanding of the plants and the usefulness or kind of materials used in the lecture was developed, and distributed to a sample of middle-school students with diverse grades and locations. Although the middle-school student know plants from the textbook, and observe the plants directly or indirectly, they do not exactly know the reality of plants. Among the many reasons about this problem, the most serious aspect is the absence of the materials about the plants described in textbooks, except the textbook or references. They want to observe the plant speceimens at first, and to see the plant photos, video tape, or CD in computers.

        용융염 전해정련 계에서 초 우라늄 대용물질로서 cerium dysprosium의 적용

        회토류원소 중 cerium과 dysprosium은 악틴족 원소와 염화물 생성 자유에너지의 차이가 크지 않기 때문에 분리하기가 매우 어렵다. 즉, 용융염을 사용 하는 전해정련 공정에서는 이들 회토류 원소가 악틴족 원소와 함께 석출되는 특성을 나타낸다. 이러한 성질을 이용하여 본 연구는 용융염을 전해질로 이용하는 전해정련실험에 cerium과 dysprosium금속을 초 우라늄원소의 대용 물질로 사용하여 그들의 모사 특성을 고찰하었다. 실험 결과 용융염 중 낮은 염화우라늄농도에서는 이 두 회토류 원소가 초 우라늄과 유사한 전해 특성을 나타냈으나, 높은 염화우라늄 농도에서는 회토류 원소의 거동을 보여주었다. The rare earth elements, especiaily cerium and dysprosium are very difficult to be separated from actinide elements due to their narrow differences in the Gibbs free energy of formation of chloride. That is, they are codeposited with actinide elements in electrorefining process with molten salt. Using this characteristics, present study discusses the feasibility for use of cerium and dysprosium metals to simulate the electrorefining characteristics of the transuranium. The experimental results show that the electrolytic behaviors of these two rare earth elements are similar with the transuranium in low concentration range of uranium chloride in molten salt. However, in high concentration range of uranium chloride they behave as the rare earth elements.

      • 남조류의 체외 대사부산물이 다른 조류의 광합성에 미치는 타감작용

        The effect of cyanobacterial extracellular byproducts upon the aIgal photosynthesis was assessed to elucidate the allelopathic effect of algal blooms in eutrophic lake. Algal cultures were filtered with 0.2μm membrane filters to remove algal cells and sterilized. 0 to 30m1aliquots of filtrate were added to 25m1 culture suspensions of other algal species, and the (14)^C uptake rates wert measured. The filtrates of cyanobacterial cultures(Anabaena flos-aquae, Phormidium sp.) inhibited the photosynthesis of green algae(Selenastrum capricornutum and Scenedesmus brasiliensis), while the filtrate of Selenastrum capricornutum and Scenedesmuns brasiliensis did not inhibit Anabaena flos-aqiae. In the autoinhibition test Anabaena flos-aquae, Selenastrum capricornutum, and Scenedesmus brasiliensis showed positive, negative, and no effects, respectively.

      • Anesthesia-Related Neurally Mediated Syncope in the Perioperative Period: Two Case Reports

        The following report describes the occurrence of severe hypotension and bradycardia in a healthy 50-year-old man following place- ment from supine to the beach chair position during general anesthesia for injured rotator cuff tendon repair, as well as the occur- rence of micturition syncope in a 71-year-old man following postobstructive diuresis after combined spinal–epidural anesthesia for total knee replacement. Rapid decompression of the urinary bladder is associated with severe hypotension, bradycardia, and syn- cope. Neurally mediated syncope includes true vasovagal and situational syncope that can occur in association with various situa- tions such as cough, micturition, postprandial state, and interscalene block. We report two cases of neurally mediated syncope (true vasovagal and situational) that occurred in different conditions and were controlled well with prompt and proper management without serious complications.

        Feminine Aspirations with the Real World of Men in George Eliot's Middlemarch

        The story treats each individual's vision as well as social reality that the author intends to describe. The purpose of this article is to search for the conflict between vision and reality, especially in feminist problem that critics have treated on the works of women writers. Though some articles have studied on the issue similar to this article, I try to analyze the narratives in the text that the author herself confesses to us. I think that we can find out clear messages from the individuals who construct the human relationship and build up their personal history through their dialogue or monologue. We can also catch their main problems in the community. I discuss the topic by mentioning the detailed discourses referred to the heroine and other characters in the text. The passages mentioned by the characters in the story may be a confession for the present and future generation that the author tries to confess. From the excerpts of some discourse, I can conclude that though Dorothea has a vision for her ideal, she is a failed feminist, for society is too strong for her as Miller (1990) argues.

        Teacher Talk as Strategies in the Classroom

        이 연구의 목적은 실제학습이 이루어지고 있는 교실에서 교사와 학습자사이의 의사소통형태와 교사말에 대한 학습자의 반응을 살펴보는 것이다. 연구조사에 있어서 연구자는 서울에 소재하고 있는 중학교를 대상으로 하여 실험자료를 수집하였다. 남성과 여성 각 두 명의 담당교사가 2005년 6월 중순부터 2주 동안 영어수업을 진행하였다. 두 명의 교사에 의한 각 학급의 수업내용은 시각적인 자료 없이 카세트테이프에 녹음되었다. 이것은 단순히 수업진행 상황만을 녹음하였음을 의미하며 시각적인 비디오테이프나 면담 등의 방식은 활용하지 않았음을 의미한다. 또한 교사나 학습자들의 불안감이나 부담감을 배제한 자연스런 교실학습상황을 그대로 자료화 하려는 의도이다. 연구자료의 분류 결과로서 교사중심적인 학습환경에서 교사의 발화는 모든 의사소통의 방식에서 상당히 두드러진 반면 학습자의 반응이나 그 속성은 대체로 매우 저조했다. 이 결과를 근거로 하여 연구자는 교사발화를 더욱 세분화하여 연구하여 교사말이 학습진행 중에 학습자의 학습이해 외국어이해도에 영향을 미치는 것을 살펴보았다. Brown(2001)은 교사발화가 학습자에게 직접 간접적으로 영향을 주고 있음을 밝히고 있는데, 이러한 이론을 바탕으로 하여 교실에서의 교사말이 좀더 자세히 연구할 필요가 있다. 즉 학습내용이나 교사의 학습방식에 상관없이 학습자들은 적극적으로 반응하기가 기대되고 있으나 교실에서 영어로 의사교류를 하는 것에 대한 효과는 다소 부정적이다. 교사말에 대한 학생들의 학습참여도, 즉 학습자 반응은 소극적이며 EFL 학습상황에서의 다른 변이요소도 이러한 결과를 초래하고 있다. 그 결과로서 학습자들의 적극적인 반응을 유도하고 효과적인 외국어 학습의 동기를 부여하기 위하여 교사의 학습전략이 요구된다. The purpose of this study is to identify the interaction patterns between teacher and students and teacher skills in the real classroom lesson. The data in this research identify the patterns of teacher talk in eliciting, questions, and giving feedback to students during the class. The data were collected from the middle school classrooms in Seoul. Two teachers, one female and one male, led the 2nd grade middle school English classes for two weeks. The classroom interactions between teacher and students in the two classrooms were recorded on cassette recording tapes without any visual supports. The 16 class recordings for two weeks were transcribed by means of transcription symbols and analyzed based on the taxonomy of foreign language interaction analysis system. The results show that teacher utterances are quite dominant in every pattern of tasks during the class, while student responses or other attributes are relatively low in volume in a teacher-focused classroom. The analysis also shows that elicitation, response, and feedback are used systematically by teacher, and students are part of the structure of classroom discourse activities. The pattern, however, can be changed depending on the teacher intention or the periods of lesson that students learn.
