      • Hypoxia-Responsive MicroRNA-101 Promotes Angiogenesis <i>via</i> Heme Oxygenase-1/Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Axis by Targeting Cullin 3

        <P>Aims: Hypoxia induces expression of various genes and microRNAs (miRs) that regulate angiogenesis and vascular function. In this study, we investigated a new functional role of new hypoxia-responsive miR-101 in angiogenesis and its underlying mechanism for regulating heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression. Results: We found that hypoxia induced miR-101, which binds to the 3 ' untranslated region of cullin 3 (Cul3) and stabilizes nuclear factor erythroid-derived 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) via inhibition of the proteasomal degradation pathway. miR-101 overexpression promoted Nrf2 nuclear accumulation, which was accompanied with increases in HO-1 induction, VEGF expression, and endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS)-derived nitric oxide (NO) production. The elevated NO-induced S-nitrosylation of Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 and subsequent induction of Nrf2-dependent HO-1 lead to further elevation of VEGF production via a positive feedback loop between the Nrf2/HO-1 and VEGF/eNOS axes. Moreover, miR-101 promoted angiogenic signals and angiogenesis both in vitro and in vivo, and these events were attenuated by inhibiting the biological activity of HO-1, VEGF, or eNOS. Moreover, these effects were also observed in aortic rings from HO-1(+/-) and eNOS(-/-) mice. Local overexpression of miR-101 improved therapeutic angiogenesis and perfusion recovery in the ischemic mouse hindlimb, whereas antagomiR-101 diminished regional blood flow. Innovation: Hypoxia-responsive miR-101 stimulates angiogenesis by activating the HO-1/VEGF/eNOS axis via Cul3 targeting. Thus, miR-101 is a novel angiomir. Conclusion: Our results provide new mechanistic insights into a functional role of miR-101 as a potential therapeutic target in angiogenesis and vascular remodeling. Antioxid.       • 형성평가에 대한 과학교사들의 인식 및 실태

        전국의 초, 중, 고등학교 과학교사 197명을 대상으로 과학교육에서 형성평가에 대한 인식 및 이에 대한 실태를 질문지를 이용하여 조사하였다. 교사들은 학교교육에서 평가의 가장 중요한 목적이 학습목표의 성취를 확인하기 위한 것이라고 생각하고 있었으며, 가장 적절한 평가방법은 형성평가라고 생각하고 있었다. 따라서 형성평가는 수업 후반부에 학습내용의 성취정도를 확인하는 평가라고 인식하고 있었다. 대부분의 교사들이 형성평가가 매우 필요하다고 인식하고 있었고, 그 이유로 학습목표 달성 정도의 확인을 들었다. 그러나 과학 수업 중 수시로 이루어지는 형성평가는 적었다. 형성평가의 실시를 어렵게 만드는 원인으로 학생 수 과다, 시간 부족, 준비의 어려움을 들었으며, 형성평가로부터 얻은 정보는 학생들의 성취수준을 판단하는데 이용한다고 응답하였다. The science teachers' perceptions and the status of formative assessment in science teaching were identified through a questionnaire. The majority of teachers thought that the most important goal of assessment in education was to identify to what extent pupils achieved learning objectives. They suggested that formative assessment was the most appropriate method regardless of the purposes of assessment. They thought that formative assessment was an assessment carried out at the end of lesson to identify to what extent pupils achieved learning objectives. The teachers stressed the need for formative assessment to identify what pupils achieved. But they carried out formative assessment about once a week and there were very few teachers carrying out formative assessment during the lesson. They responded that it was difficult to carry out formative assessment because of large class size, lack of time and difficulty in preparation. And they used the information from formative assessment to judge the level of attainment.

        복합레진의 중합 수축력과 수복물의 결합양상에 관한 연구 제 1 편 : 중합수축력

        The polymerization contraction forces has a relationship with the contents of filler, and if forces surpass the bond strength between restoration and bonded surface, the failure of bond can be occured. This study was designed to evaluate the effects of filler contents on the polymerization contraction forces and to confirm whether the polymerization forces could induce the bond failure of composite resins to enamel or dentin. Low capacity load cell using strain gauge were prepared and used as a measurement system for polymerization contraction forces. Oxidized alloy surfaces, enamel surfaces and dentin surfaces were used as bonded surface. Measurements of the polymerization contraction forces were done for 1 hour, and a stress at 1 hour after was recorded as a polymerization contraction force. It was considered as a bond failure that the polymerization contraction forces increased and then decreased by the time. The following conclusions were drawn : 1. Polymerization contraction forces of composite resins were decreased by the increase of filler contents. 2. Polymerization contraction forces were increased at thickened resin specimens, but it was not significant at over two millimeter thickness. 3. Bond strength of composite resins to the acid etched enamel surfaces exceeded the polymerization contraction forces and the reduced polymerization contraction forces due to the bond failure were not confirmed. 4. Failure of bond and reduced polymerization contraction forces occured on dentin.

        복합레진의 중합 수축력과 수복물의 결합양상에 관한 연구 제 2 편 결합강도

        Failure of bond between resinous restorative materials and tooth can be occured by the polymerization contraction forces larger than bond strengths. This study was planned to confirmed that the bond strengths between composite resin and acid etched enamel will be influenced by the polymerization contraction forces altered with filler contents and diameter of attached resin specimens. Ten kinds of experimental composite resins were prepared and bonded to bovine tooth enamel which were acid-etched. The diameter of resin specimens attached were 4 mm and 6 mm. The following conclusions were drawn : 1. Shear bond strengths were increased and then decreased with rise of filler contents, maximum shear bond strength was obtained by the 40% filled composite resin. 2. Unit shear bond strengths of resin specimens bonded with large area were lower than that of narrow area bonding. It was concluded that shear bond strengths to acid etched enamel can be influenced by the polymerization contraction forces.

        Author divided 60 patients who got lower abdomen or lower extremity surgical operation into three groups. Each group consisted of 20 patients. We injected ketamine 10㎎, 20㎎, and 30㎎ respectively into the epidural space when the patient complained of pain postoperatively and observed the postoperative analgesic effect of ketamine. Finally, we concluded the following : 1) The onset time of analgesic effect. : The analgesic effect appeared within 10 minutes in 3 groups and the significant difference among them was not seen. 2) The duration of analgesic effect : The duration of analgesia was relatively short with less than 1 hour on an average in all 3 groups and was not constant. 3) Cardiopulmonary system. : The significant change of blood pressure, pulse and respiratory rate was not seen in all three groups and and the difference among them also was not seen. 4) Side effects. : Sedative action(16%), nausea(10%), dizziness(5%), headache(3.3%) From above results, the epidural administration of ketamine is not suitable for postoperative pain management because of a lot of side effects as well as short and inconstant duration of analgesic effeet.

        복합레진의 중합 수축력과 수복물의 결합양상에 관한 연구 제 3 편 변연누출과 틈새

        This study was designed to confirm the influence of the polymerization contraction stress to the marginal leakage and gaps of resin restorations. Ten kinds of experimental composite resins were prepared with varing the filler contents to display the different polymerization contraction stress. A cavity with enamel and dentin margins were prepared on the cervical area of human tooth. Enamel margins were etched with 37% phosphoric acid for 1 minute. Experimental composite resins were filled into the cavities and immersed in water bath of 37±1℃ for 24 hours, and then immersed into dye solution. Tooth were cut through the restoration, and the infiltration of dye was observed. Marginal gaps were measured on the light microscope with 100 magnifications. The following conclusions were drawn : 1. Polymerization contraction stress and gaps showed the corelation between them, gaps were decreased by increase of filler contents. 2. There was not exist the relationships between polymerization contraction stress and marginal leakage. 3. Marginal leakage and gaps were larger at dentinal margins than enamel margins.

        이식형 인공중이 시스템을 위한 고효율 차동 전자 트랜스듀서의 설계

        이식형 인공중이에 사용되는 일반적인 전자기 방식의 진동 트랜스듀서에 비하여 두 개의 소형 영구자석을 같은 극끼리 접착한 후 코일내부에 위치시킨 차동 전자 트랜스듀서는 효율이 높고 코일-영구자석간의 공극조정이 필요 없으며 외부의 자기장에 대하여 영향을 받지 않는 특성을 가진다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 차동 전자 트랜스듀서를 이식형 인공중이 시스템에 사용하기 위하여 입력전류에 대하여 진동력의 크기를 최대화시킬 수 있는 효율적인 구조를 제안 해석하였다. 유한요소 해석을 통하여 가장 효율적인 코일과 자석의 길이 비를 도출하였고 소리신호 전달을 위한 트랜스듀서의 필요 진동력을 산출한 후 트랜스듀서 발생 진동력을 해석하였다. 그리고 실제 이소골에 이식할 수 있는 크기의 트랜스듀서를 제작하기 위한 설계상수를 추출하였다. 계산된 설계상수를 이용하여 이식 가능한 크기로 트랜스듀서를 구현한 후 무부하 실험과 사체 부하 실험을 실시하여 제작된 트랜스듀서가 실제 중등이상 고도난청자를 위한 이식형 인공중이 시스템에 사용될 수 있음을 증명하였다. The differential electromagnetic transducer for IME(implantable middle ear) system, which have two small permanent magnets glued with the same pole facing each other in the coil, has high vibration efficiency and does not influenced by external magnetic field. In this paper, using finite element method, highly efficient structure of the transducer was proposed and vibration force of the transducer was calculated by electromagnetic theory. And the necessary vibration force of transducer to transmit the sound signal to inner ear when the transducer is attached at stapes was calculated and the design parameters of the transducer were investigated. Using the parameters, the differential electromagnetic transducer was manufactured in small size to implant in confined human middle ear. And it was examined by unloaded and loaded vibration experiment using temporal bone sampled from cadaver.

      • 초음파 어레이를 이용한 이동 로봇의 장애물 회피에 관한 연구

        For mobile robot, the navigation effectiveness can be improved by providing autonomy, but this autonomy requires the mobile robot to detect unknown obstacles and avoid collisions while moving it toward the target. This paper presents an effective method for autonomous navigation of the mobile robot in structured environments. This method uses ultrasonic sensor array to detect obstacles and utilizes force relationship between the obstacles and target for avoiding collisions. Accuracy of sensory data produced by ultrasonic sensors is improved by employing error eliminating rapid ultrasonic firing (EERUF) technique. Navigation algorithm controlling both the velocity and steering simultaneously is developed, implemented to the mobile robot and tested on the floor filled with the cluttered obstacles. It is verified that from the results of the field tests the mobile robot can move at a maximum speed of 0.66 m/sec without any collisions.

        성견에서 교정적 고정원으로서의 티타늄 미니스크류에 대한 연구 : An experimental investigation in dogs

        교정치료에서 원하는 치아이동을 위해서는 안정된 고정원이 필요한데 티타늄 미니스크류가 매식과 제거가 쉽고, 구강 내 여러 부위에서 적용이 가능하고, 환자가 느끼는 불편감이나 비용적인 부담이 적고, 제거 후에 치유가 빠르게 진행될 수 있는 등의 장점이 있어 최근에 교정적 고정원으로 사용되기 시작하였다. 티타늄 미니스크류를 교정적 고정원으로 사용한 임상 예들이 여러 편 발표되었는데 미니스크류의 이완이 가장 큰 실패의 원인으로 보고되고 있다. 그러나 지금까지 보고된 논문들에서 교정적 고정원으로 안정성을 줄 수 있는 스크류의 식립 길이에 관한 연구가 없는 상태이다. 교정적 고정원으로 미니스크류를 효과적으로 사용하기 위해서는 식립 부위에 따른 골구조와 골밀도 차이를 고려한 식립 길이에 관한 기준이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 성견의 상악골과 하악골에서 직경 2mm 티타늄 미니스크류를 다양한 길이로 식립하고 교정력을 적용한 후 그 안정성을 평가하여 교정적 고정원으로 사용될 수 있는 미니스크류의 식립 길이를 결정하고자 하였다. 미니스크류가 상악에서는 6mm이상, 하악에서는 4mm 이상이 골 내에 식립될 때 8주 동안 200g의 교정력에 동요도나 위치변화를 보이지 않았다. 식립 부위로는 부착치은 부위 치근 사이에 식립될 때 구강청결이 유지되고 미니스크류 주변 치은조직에 자극을 주지 않아 정상적인 조직으로 유지 될 수 있었다. 또한 교정력 적용 8주 후 치근단 방사선 사진검사에서 스크류 주변 치근 흡수나 치조골 흡수, 치주 인대 손상이 관찰되지 않았다. 따라서 상 ㆍ 하악 골밀도와 골구조의 차이를 고려하여 미니스크류의 골내 식립 길이를 적절히 조절함으로써 교정적 고정원으로 티타늄 미니스크류가 효과적으로 사용될 수 있다고 생각된다. Titanium miniscrews are being used increasingly as an anchorage for tooth movement, because they are easy to place and to remove, increase the number of sites available, give minimum strain to patients regarding surgical procedures, and offer uneventful healing after removal. The use of titanium miniscrews as an orthodontic anchorage has been reported in clinical case reports, but clinicians hove experienced screw loosening when using such screws. To our knowledge, there are no published reports evaluating the stability of miniscrews. Information about the length of miniscrews used in relation to the location is of some importance, as stability will vary depending on bone quality. The purpose of this study was to evaluate a variety of lengths of miniscrews (diameter: 2mm) which were inserted in maxilla or mandible and to demonstrate in a dog moedl which miniscrew provides fundamental stability in the jaws. 10 mm long miniscrews in the maxilla and 8mm long miniscrews in the mandible showed no clinical mobility and retained their position throughout an 8 weeks force (200g) application. The mucosal condition around the screws was healthy in cases in which miniscrews were inserted in the alveolar bone between the roots and the head of the screws emerged into the attached gingiva. When the force application was terminated, radiographic analysis revealed neither root resorption nor periodontal pathology around the miniscrews that remained stable during the entire treatment period. This study suggests that if titanium miniscrews with adequate length are properly used depending on the location, they provide sufficient stability for orthodontic anchorage.
