수학적 모델링 과정에서 수학화의 기호학적 분석

Though the term “mathematical modeling” has no single definition or perspective, it is pursued commonly by groups from various perspectives who emphasize the activities of understanding and representing real phenomenon mathematically, building models to solve problems, and reinterpreting real phenomenon to make an attempt to understand the real world and related mathematical models more deeply. The purpose of this study is to identify how mathematization arises and find difficulties of mathematization in mathematical modeling process that share common features with the mathematical modeling activities as presented here. As a result of this research, we confirmed that the students mathematized real phenomena by building various representations, and interpreting them with regard to relationships and contexts inherent real phenomena. The students’ communication fostered interplay between iconic representations and indexical representations. We also identified difficulties of mathematization in mathematical modeling process. 수학적 모델링에 대한 정의와 관점은 단일하지 않다. 그러나 실세계 현상을 수학적으로 이해하여 표현하고, 모델을 세워 문제를 해결하며, 다시 실세계 현상에 대한 재해석을 통해 실세계 그리고 관련된 수학적 모델에 대한 심층적인 이해를 꾀하는 활동에 대한 강조는 수학적 모델링에 대한 여러 관점에서 공통적으로 추구하는 바이다. 이 연구는 수학적 모델링 활동에 대한 앞서 제시한 공통적인 특징을 준수할 때, 수학화가 어떻게 일어나는지, 그 과정상의 어려움은 무엇인지를 확인하는 것에 목표를 둔다. 연구 결과, 학생들은 수학적 모델링 과정에서의 수학화 활동에서 다양한 표상체를 구축하고 이를 실세계 현상의 관계적인 측면과 맥락에 비추어 해석하면서 현상을 재조직한다는 점을 확인할 수 있었으며, 이는 학생들의 의사소통 과정에 드러난 표상체의 기능 변화를 통하여 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 표상체가 적절하지 않은 단서를 제공할 수 있다는 점은 수학화를 어렵게 하는 요인으로 드러났다.

Literature Review of Research on Models in Mathematics Education

There have been many discussions of models in mathematics education. Although there has been some agreement regarding the importance of clarifying perspectives on the concept and didactic significance of models, there is still no clear consensus on these issues. This study examines articles focused on models in mathematics education in order to clarify theoretical perspectives on models in the research community. The results of this study show that there are three perspectives on models in mathematics education and that these perspectives are closely related to researchers' ontological stances on mathematical knowledge and interpretations of the epistemological role of the model.

모델링 활동을 통한 메타수준 학습에 대한 연구

There have been many discussions of teaching and learning mathematics through modeling activities in mathematics education research community. Although there has been some agreement regarding modeling activity as an alternative way to support mathematics teaching and learning, there is still no clear consensus on these issues. This paper reports a case study which aims to identify ways to design modeling tasks and instruction to foster meta-level learning, and investigate how modeling activities can facilitate meta-level learning. From the results of teaching experiment, this study examines the potential of modeling activities in mathematics teaching and learning. 수학교육 연구 공동체에서는 모델링 활동을 통한 수학 학습에 대한 논의들이 지속되어 왔다. 모델링 활동은 대안적인 수학 교수 학습 방법으로 논의되어 왔으나, 모델링 활동을 통하여 이루어지는 수학 학습은 어떠한 성격을 갖는지, 그리고 이는 어떠한 과제 설계와 수업 실행을 통하여 달성할 수 있는지에 대한 합의점은 도출되지 못한 실정이다. 모델링 활동을 통한 수학 학습을 시도해 온 선행 연구들의 논의로부터, 본 연구에서는 모델링 활동이 메타수준의 수학적 담론 생성과 메타규칙의 변화를 포함하는 메타수준 학습을 촉진할 수 있을 것으로 판단하였다. 이에 본 연구에서는 메타수준 학습을 촉진할 수 있는 모델링 과제 설계와 수업 실행 방안을 도출하고, 이를 실행하여 수학 교수 학습에서 모델링 활동의 잠재력을 확인하는 데 목적을 둔다.

This study is to measure the roundness of automatically designed Rapid Prototyping(RP) parts. RP, especially Stereo Lithography Apparatus(SLA) which is widely used among many types of RP systems, can produce complicated three dimension part products with better accuracy and speed from data called STL file providing the CAD input to RP machine, but the produced RP parts do not show a good roundness when measured with a circular tesstor. This paper has been introduced automatically designed four models rising Auto CAD which have a different system variable respectively, and each roundness of the manufactured RP parts varies with system variables.

유방암 환자에서 유방 절제술 후 횡복직근 근피판을 이용한 즉시 재건술의 임상적 유용성

Background: The importance of the reconstruction surgery of the breast, the symbol of woman, is being increased because of the rapid increase of the frequency of breast cancer. There are many options for breast reconstruction including simple prosthetic insertion, and a flap operation using autologous abdominal tissue. We are going to comparing with clinical usefulness for many ways of breast reconstruction. Methods: This study worked on nine breast cancer patients in Kosin university gospel hospital from 2007. December to 2009. March. One patient applied with Tissue expander, Other two applied with Latissimus dorsi flap and the other six applied with TRAM flap for breast reconstruction. Each of patients evaluated the cosmetic satisfaction in 4 point scoring system and most of patients who applied with TRAM flap were in perfect content. Results: There was no complication among nine patients except the one got fat necrosis. According to the patients' expressed opinions, almost all patients by transverse rectus abdominis myocutaneous(TRAM) flap reconstruction were pleased with the result. Conclusion: We had great result from breast reconstruction with transverse rectus abdominis myocutaneous(TRAM) flap during the process and after operation. It appears the best way for a breast reconstruction because it was comparatively easy to operate.

갑상선 절제술 후 DermabondⓇ, Steri-stripsⓇ, 기존의 창상봉합을 이용한 피부봉합의 비교

Background : This study is to compare a tissue adhesive(DermabondⓇ), adhesive skin tape(Steri-StripsⓇ) with conventional wound closure technique in cosmetic respect for incisional wound of thyroidectomy. Methods : Seventy-seven patients who underwent thyroidectomy between July 2008 and December 2008 were evaluated. 12 patients underwent skin closure with DermabondⓇ, 15 patients with Steri-StripsⓇ and the other 13 patients with conventional suture method. At the time of postoperative 7 days and 6 months respectively, photographs of the incisional wounds were rated using a visual analogue scale by two plastic surgeons blinded to the method of skin closure. All of 40 patients were available for the long term follow-up within 4 to 6 months postoperatively and the survey was carried out for outcome of cosmesis. Results : There was no significant difference among the three groups for appearance scores based on a visual analogue scale(DermabondⓇ 80.3 ± 6.3 mm vs Steri-StripsⓇ 79.1 ± 5.1 mm vs conventional suture 80.7 ± 5.9 mm, F-score=1.41, p-value=0.94). And the satisfaction of patient was similar rate(DermabondⓇ: Excellent 8.5% Good 50% Fair 33%, Poor 8.5% vs Steri-StripsⓇ: Excellent 13.3% Good 46.7% Fair 33.5%, Poor 6.7% vs conventional suture Excellent 7.7% Good 46.1% Fair 38.5%, Poor 7.7%, p-value=0.82). Conclusion : The practical advantages of tissue adhesives and adhesive skin tape are easy application, convenience and no need of suture removal. DermabondⓇ and Steri-StripsⓇ for wound closure are an alternative, which includes many advantages to conventional suturing with a comparable cosmetic outcome.
