      • Sea-urchin-like iron oxide nanostructures for water treatment

        To obtain adsorbents with high capacities for removing heavy metals and organic pollutants capable of quick magnetic separation, we fabricated unique sea-urchin-like magnetic iron oxide (mixed γ-Fe<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>/Fe<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB> phase) nanostructures (called u-MFN) with large surface areas (94.1m<SUP>2</SUP>g<SUP>-1</SUP>) and strong magnetic properties (57.9emug<SUP>-1</SUP>) using a simple growth process and investigated their potential applications in water treatment. The u-MFN had excellent removal capabilities for the heavy metals As(V) (39.6mgg<SUP>-1</SUP>) and Cr(VI) (35.0mgg<SUP>-1</SUP>) and the organic pollutant Congo red (109.2mgg<SUP>-1</SUP>). The u-MFN also displays excellent adsorption of Congo red after recycling. Because of its high adsorption capacity, fast adsorption rate, and quick magnetic separation from treated water, the u-MFN developed in the present study is expected to be an efficient magnetic adsorbent for heavy metals and organic pollutants in aqueous solutions.

        Ce$O_2$첨가 및 분말처리가 U$O_2$ 분말의 소결에 미치는 영향

        순수 $UO_2$에 첨가량 변화 및 ball-milling 시간에 따른 (U, Ce)$O_2$ 분말의 특성과 각 조건별로 제조된 분말을 압분 및 소결하여 (U, Ce)$O_2$ 분말 특성에 따른 소결성을 비교 조사하였다. 실험 결과로 부터 ball-milling시간이 길어짐에 따라 입자들은 미세화되고, Ce$O_2$ 함량이 증가할수록 압분, 소결밀도는 저하 하였으며, $CeO_2$는 소결성을 저하시키는 산화물임을 확인하였다. 10wt%,$CeO_2$ 가 첨가된 (U, Ce)$O_2$ 분말의 경우, ball-milling 4시간 수행한 분말의 소결체가 기공의 수도 적고, 구형에 가까왔으며, 소결밀도가 가장 높았다. 이는 4시간 ball-milling한 (U, Ce)$O_2$분말이 비표면적이 크로 그의 packing ratio가 적절하였기 때문이다. We investigated the changes of (U, Ce)$O_2$ powder characteristics with $CeO_2$ contents and ball-milling time and then studied on the sintering properties with those (U, Ce)$O_2$ powder characteristics. From the results of this study, it was concluded that the longer ball-milling time of (U, Ce)$O_2$ powder was, the finer its particle size was. Green and sintered densities were decreased with $CeO_2$ contensts increase. And also $CeO_2$ was recongized deteriorating oxide on the $UO_2$ sintering. In case of the lOwt. % $CeO_2$ contents, (U, Ce)$O_2$ sintered pellet which was made of ball-milled powder for 4 hours had few pores and its pores got near to the sphere. And its sintered density had the highest. Because its powder had higher surface area and its packing ratio was appropriated much better than others.

        LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb age and Hf isotope data from the granitic rocks in the Iwakuni area, southwest Japan: reevaluation of emplacement order and the source magma

        U-Pb-Hf isotopes of zircons from the granitic intrusive rocks in the Iwakuni area of southwest Japan are determined by LA-ICP-MS analysis. The Gamano Granodiorite belonging to the Older Ryoke Granites of the Ryoke Belt yielded U-Pb mean age of 92.3 ± 2.6 Ma (MSWD = 1.8). The Namera Granite belonging to the Younger Ryoke Granites of the Ryoke Belt yielded U-Pb mean age of 106.3 ± 1.6 Ma (MSWD = 2.3). The Shimokuhara Granite belonging to the Hiroshima Granites of the San-yo Belt yielded U-Pb mean age of 103.8 ± 1.5 Ma (MSWD = 0.32). A granite porphyry sample taken from about 15 m thick dike discordantly intruded into pelitic schist of the Ryoke metamorphic rocks yielded U-Pb mean age of 92.5 ± 1.6 Ma (MSWD = 0.63). Hf isotope data, obtained from the same dated zircon grains, show initial 176Hf/177Hf isotopic ratios referred to as “εHf(t)” generally ranging between –4.8 and +1.1 except an anomalously low value (–15.0) from an inherited core. The εHf(t) values, calculated with average crustal 176Lu/177Hf ratio of 0.015, correspond to Hf isotope crustal model ages between 1474 to 1087 Ma (Mesoproterozoic). The Gamano Graodiorite has long been regarded to be a syn-tectonic intrusion, but the zircon ages and εHf(t) values are similar to those of the post-tectonic granite porphyry dike. The results of this study together with available U-Pb zircon ages of granitic rocks in the Iwakuni area reported elsewhere reveal that the order of emplacement indicated by the U-Pb zircon ages are much discrepant with the traditional classification, the Older Ryoke, the Younger Ryoke. It is better to refrain from the use of “Older” and “Younger” for the collective names of the granitic intrusive bodies.

      • A parameterization of dust emission (PM<sub>10</sub>) fluxes of dust events observed at Naiman in Inner Mongolia using the monitored tower data

        <P>The optimal regression equations for the dust emission flux parameterized with the friction velocity (u*) only, the friction velocity with the threshold friction velocity (u(t)*) and the friction velocity together with the flux Richardson number (R-f) in the dust source region are derived using the sonic anemometer measured momentum and kinematic heat fluxes at 8 m height and the two-level (3 m and 15 m height) measured PM10 concentrations from a 20-m monitoring tower located at Naiman in the Asian dust source region in China for the period from March 2013 to November 2014. The analysis period is divided into three sub-periods based on the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) to eliminate the effect of vegetation on the dust emission flux. The dust event is identified as a peak half hourly mean dust concentration (PM10) at 3 m height exceeding the sub-period mean dust concentration plus one standard deviation of the sub-period. The total of 317 dust events is identified with the highest number of dust event of 18.8 times a month in summer. The optimal regression equations of the dust emission flux (F-c) for dust events parameterized with u* and R-f are found to simulate quite well the dust emission flux estimated by the observed data at the site for all periods especially for the unstable stratification, suggesting the potential usefulness of these equations parameterized by u* with R-f rather than those by u* only and u* together with u*(t) for the estimation of the dust emission flux in the Asian dust source region.         위장관계 악성종양에서 CA 125 측정의 의미

        연구배경 : 종양표지자는 암외 진단, 임상적 병기구분 및 치료효과 판정에 유용하며, 위장관암에서 alphafetoprotein, carcinoembryonic antigen, CA 19-9, 및 CA 72-4 등이 중요한 지표로 사용되고 있으나 위암의 경우, 현재까지 만족할 만한 유용성을 가진 종양표지자는 없는 실정이다. 저자등은 위암에 대한 새로운 종양표지자로 CA 125의 역할을 규명하고자 위암을 비롯한 각종 위장관암에서 CA 125와 기존의 종양표지자와의 유용성을 검토하였다. 방법 : 대상은 위장관 악성종양 181예, 위장관 양성질환자 55예를 대상으로 하였으며 CA 72-4는 CIS ELSA CA 72-4 RIA kit, CA 19-9는 Abbott CA 19-9 RIA kit, CEA는 Abbott CEA kit, CA 125는 Centocor CA 125 RIA kit를 사용하여 측정하였으며, 각각의 정상치 한계는 4 U/ml, 37 U/ml, 5ng/ml그리고 35 U/ml로 하였다. 결과 : 1) CA 125는 양성 소화기 질환에서 93%의 높은 특이도를 보였으나 복수가 있는 간경변증의 경우 거의 전예에서 혈중 CA 125값이 증가하여 악성종양군과 감별이 어려웠다. 2) CA 125는 위암에서 민감도가 36%로 CA 72-4와 차이가 없었다. 3) CA 125는 췌담도암에 대한 민감도가 55%로 CA 19-9의 85%에 비해 낮았으며 두 종양표지자를 병합하여 사용한 경우 민감도의 증가(95%)를 볼 수 있었다. 4) 23예의 조기위암 환자에서 CA 125의 민감도는 9%로 낮았다. 5) Conventional image study 상으로 인지되지 않은 복강내 암종증 환자에 대한 CA 125의 민감도는 36%였다. 결론 : CA 125는 위암에서 기존의 종양표지자인 CA 72-4와 유용성의 차이를 보이지 않았으며 전이성 위암에서 높은 민감도를 나타내었다. 혈중 CA 125의 증가는 위장관의 악성 및 양성질환에 관계없이 복수의 유무와 밀접한 연관관계를 가지는 것으로 사료되며 통상적인 영상 진단법상으로 인지되지 않은 복강내 암종중의 예견에 있어서는 유용하지 않을 것으로 생각된다. Background: Detection of tumor markers could offer an accessible method for screening risk groups in order to achieve an early diagnosis of cansers, to contribute to and adequate staging, and to help evaluate effects of therapy. CA 125 is an antigenic determinant defined by murine monoclonal antibody OC 125, and synthesized by coelomic epithelial derivatives such as Mullerian epithelium and mesothelial tissues. CA 125 is regarded as useful tumor marker for non-musinous epithelial ovarian tumors. So we investigated whether CA 125 is reliable tumor marker for gastrointestinal malignancies and especially for detection of intraperitoneal carcinomatosis unrecognized by conventional imaging studies. And we compared CA 125 with other conventional tumor markers in the serodiagnosis of gastrointestinal malignancies. Methods: Serum CA 72-4, CA 19-9, CA 125 and CEA were determined radioimmunologically with monoclonal antibodies. A cut-off value of 4 U/ml, 37 U/ml, 35 U/ml and 5 mg/ml were used respectively. Results: The results are summarized as follows. 1) CA 125 had high specificity (93%) for benign gastrointestinal disease but was not useful to differetiate malignant ascites and benign ascites. 2) In gastric carcinoma, the sensitivity of CA 125 (36%) was not so different to that of CA 72-4(36%). 3) In pancreatobiliary carcinoma, the sensitivity of CA 125(55%) was inferior than that of CA 19-9 (85%), but combined use of these two tumor markers increases sensitivitu(95%) for the diagnosis. 4) The sensitivities of CA 125 for 23 early gastric cancer was 9%. 5) The sensitivities of CA 125 for the intraperitoneal carcinomatosis that was not recognized by conventional imaging studies was 36%. Conclustion: Our data indicates that CA 125 is not better in the serodiagnosis of gastrointestinal malignancies than other conventional tumor markers, and CA 125 has a little predictive value in the diagnosis of intraperitoneal carcinomatosis unrecognized by the conventional imaging studies. Serum CA 125 elevation in benign or malignant diseases closely correlated with the presence of ascites.

        한국에서 독일어 : 과거와 현재

        Es handelt sich bei dieser Arbeit um die Frage, welche Rolle die deutsche Sprache und Kultur in der koreanischen Gesellschaft bis heute gespielt haben und noch in Zukunft spielen werden, wobei die folgenden verschiedenen Bereiche in Betrachtung genommen wurden: Wissenschaft, Kunst, Wirtschaft und Werbesprache. Außerdem wurde einen U¨berblick u¨ber die Geschichte der Fremdsprachenausbildung in Korea gegeben. Bis in die 1950er war die deutsche Sprache in Korea in denmeisten wissenschaftlichen Bereichen von großer Bedeutung vor allem in der Philosophie, Sozialwissenschaft, Rechtswissenschaft, Medizin und Musik. Danach verlor die deutsche Sprache allma¨hlich ihre Bedeutung, wa¨hrend Englisch und Japanisch eine zunehmend dominierende Rolle spielten. Die deutsche Medizin und die deutsche Sprache haben zur entwicklung der westlichen Medizin in Korea einen großen Beitrag geleistet. Zum Beispiel hat Deutsch in den Curricula der Soul und der Kyungpook Medizinschule bis 1945 fast eine gleich starke Stellung wie Englisch oder zeitweise noch sta¨rkere Stellung gehabt. Aber das Jahr 1945, besonders der Korea Krieg(1950-1953) war ein entscheidender Wendepunkt. Seitdem sind die deutsche Medizin und Deutsch verdra¨ngt worden. Es hat heute vo¨llig an Boden verloren. Und um die Beeinflußung der deutschen Musik in Korea fest zustellen, wurden in Korea erschienene Musiklehrbu¨cher und wissenschaftliche Bescha¨ftgung in der Musikwissenschaft untersucht. Nach der Analyse der Musiklehrbu¨cher ist folgendes zubemerken: Im ersten Schuljahr werden u¨berwiegend Komponisten aus dem deutschsprachigen Raum behandelt. Auf dem Hochschulbereich u¨ben sie einen gro¨ßeren Einfluss aua. Bei der Untersuchung der Magisterarbeiten auf dem Gebiet Vokal-, Klavier-, Kammer- und Instrumentalmusik zwischen 1958 und 1987 fa¨llt auf, dass ca. 60-70% der arbeiten Komponisten des deutschsprachigen Raums behandeln. Anders als in den oben erwa¨hnten Bereichen ist die Einstellung koreanischer Firmen zur deutschen Sprache extrem negativ. Seitens der koreanischen Firmen wird der deutschen Sprache fu¨r ihre gescha¨ftlichen Aktivita¨ten keinerlei Bedeutung beigemessen, in vielen Fa¨llen wurde auch das negative Image der deutschen Sprache erwa¨hnt. So kommt es nicht von ungefa¨hr, wenn Absolventen eines Studienganges in Germanistik ihre deutsche Sprachkenntnis in Bewerbungsschreiben erst gar nicht erwa¨hnen, sondern stattdessen nur ihre in den Englischzertifikaten TOEIC und TOEFL erlangten Punktzahlen angeben. Neben solchen Bereichen wurde in dieser Arbeit auch die Frage untersucht, ob und welche Bezeichnungen von Gescha¨ften und Geba¨uden aus der deutschen Sprache und Kultur stammen. Auch in diesem Untersuchungsbereich dominiert Englisch und wird Deutsch selten verwendet. Allerdings sind bei Kaffee-, Bierha¨usern und Konditoreien deutsche Benennungen nicht selten zu beobachten. Viele Kaffeeha¨user tragen die Namen der in Korea beliebten Komponisten aus dem deutschsprachigen Raum : Mozart, Schubert, Brahms und Beethoven, oder auch ihrer Werke. Fu¨r Bierha¨user beborzugt man Stadt- bzw. Ortsbezeichnungen wie Mu¨nchen, Bern, Berlin, Heidelberg, Schwabing und Mosel. Außer solchen Gesichtspunkten wurde hier auch die geschichtliche Entwicklung der Fremdsprachenausblidung in Korea untersucht. Diese Entwicklungsgeschichte hat eine enge Beziehung mit der politischen Geschichte. Chinesisch galt bis Ende des 19. Jahr hunderts als Bildungssprache, und zwar nur fu¨r ho¨here Schichten der Bevo¨lkerung. Der Fremdsprachenunterricht als allgemeine Bildung an Schulen hat seinen Ursprung in den spezifischen Fremdsprachenschulen, die Ende des 19. Jahrhundert gegru¨ndet wurden, in dem der Modernisierungsprozess Koreas begann: Englisch, Deutsch, Franzo¨sisch, Russisch, Chinesisch und Japanisch konnte man dort bei Muttersprachlern lernen. In der koreanischen Fremdsprachenausbildung haven aber heutzutage Englisch und Japanisch erste Priorita¨t vor allen anderen Sprachen. Deutsch wird zwar an den Schulen unterrichtet, findet aber daru¨ber hinaus, etwa im Berufsleben, so gut wie keine praktische Verwendung. Die Untersuchung zeigt auch in anderen Bereichen einen Wandel, na¨mlich bei der Benennung der Fremdsprachen, der Zahl der Fremdsprachen und den Unterrichtsinstitutionen. Es ist dabei festzustellen, dass die Unterrichtsmethoden und Lerngewohnheiten am wenigsten mobil sind. Wenn man solche Untersuchungsergebnisse zur Rechnung tra¨gt, scheint der Ru¨ckgang des Bedarfs der deutschen Sprache in Korea unvermeidbar sowohl in der Schule und als auch in der Universita¨t zu sein, obwohl auch in Zukunft Koreaner Interesse and de Kultur der deutschsprachigen La¨nder-im großen Abstand nach den USA, Japan und China-zeigen werden. Das ko¨nnte eine negative Kettenreaktion auslo¨sen : die Anzahl von Deutsch Experten geht zuru¨ck, ihre Berufschanchen verschlechtern sich weiter, viele Institutionen mu¨ssen zwangsweise geschlossen, Forschungaktivita¨ten beschra¨nkt werden usew. Wie vorher festgestellt, gru¨ndet sich das bestehende Lehrangebot an Deutsch in Korea weniger auf einem wirklich existierenden gesellschaftlichen Bedarf, sondem auf der Macht, u¨ber die Institutionen und Strukturen verfu¨gen. Eine am Anbieter orientierte Schulpolitik hat lange Zeit den Bedarf an Deutsch in Schulen und Universita¨ten garantiert. Mit dem nun stattfindenden Wandel hin zu einer nachfrageorientierten Schulpolitik verliert das Schulfach Deutsch sein bisheriges Fundament. Quantitativ gesehen hat der Markt fu¨r Deutsch als Fremdsprache in Korea eine Phase des Wachstums hinter sich und erlebt nun einen vielerorts deutlichen Abschwung. Die Krise, in der sich Deutsch als Frmdsprache in Korea zur Zeit befindet, wird sich vermutlich angesichts der gesellschaftlichen Bedingungen, des herrschenden Zeitgeists und der ungu¨nstigen Schulpolitik fu¨s Erste fortsetzen. Geht man von einem Ungleichgewicht zwischen Angebot und Nachfrage aus, wird dieser Abwa¨rtstrenderst zum Stillstand kommen, wenn ein Gleichgewicht hergestellt ist. Selbstversta¨ndlich sind solche Tendenzen im Zusammenhang mit der umfassenden Restrukturierung zu sehen, in der sich die koreanische Gesellschaft momentan befindet.

        목 적 : 저자들은 양전하를 띤 N, N-diethyl-aminoethyl group이 부착되어 있는 Hemophan 투석기에 음전하를 떤 헤파린을 결합시키는 Gretz 등의 방법을 수정하여 출혈 위험성이 있는 말기신부전 환자에서 헤파린 결합 Hemophan을 이용한 혈액투석법 (hemodialysis using heparin bound Hemophan, HBH-HD)을 보고한 바 있다. 저자들은 지난 7년 동안 출혈 위험성이 있는 말기신부전증 환자들에서 HBH-HD를 시행하였으며 이에 그간의 결과를 종합하여 HBH-HD의 안전성과 효율성을 보고하고자 한다. 방 법 : 저자들은 1995년 4월부터 2002년 4월까지 출혈 위험성이 있는 만성혈액투석환자 159명에서, 헤파린을 결합시킨 Hemophan 투석기 (GFS plus 11, Gambro)를 사용하여 총 1,057회의 HBH-HD를 시행하였다. 투석기나 혈액관 교체가 필요할 정도의 심한 혈액응고 없이 4시간 동안 혈액투석이 가능하였던 40회 투석에서 혈액투석 전, 투석 시작 후 15분, 60분, 120분과 투석 종료 직전 (240분)에 혈중 헤파린 농도와 activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT)을 측정하였다. 투석의 효율성을 평가하기 위하여 동일 환자에서 시행한 HBH-HD와 이후 헤파린을 전신적으로 사용한 혈액투석 (routine hemodialysis, R-HD) 간의 혈액구획용적(total blood compartment volume, TBCV) 손실과 투석기요소청소율 (K), Kt/V를 비교하였다 (n=20). 결 과 : 1,057회 투석 중 11회 (1.0%)에서는 투석 후 150분 이내에 투석기와 혈액관에 혈액 응고가 발생하어 투석을 증단하였고, 64회 (6.1%)에서는 투석 후 150분부터 230분 사이에 혈액관에 혈액응고가 발생하여 혈액관 교체가 필요하였다. 투석기나 혈액관의 교체가 필요할 정도의 심한 혈액응고 없이 4시간 동안 혈액투석이 가능하였던 982회 증 40회의 투석에서 측정된 헤파린 농도는 투석전 값 (0.11±0.06 U/mL, 평균±표준편차)에 비하여 투석 후 15분 (0.14±0.06 U/mL)에 경미한 증가를 보인 후 (p<0.05), 60분에 0.11±0.05 U/mL, 120분에 0.08±0.04 U/mL, 투석 종료 후 0.08±0.04 U/mL로 감소하였다. 투석 중 aPTT는 투석 전 (44.3±12.9초)에 비하여 투석 후 15분 (49.8±10.5초)에 증가한 후 (p<0.05), 60분에 40.8十7.1초, 120분에 36.1±5.5초, 투석 종료 후 32.1±5.3초로 감소하였다. 두 투석간의 TBCV 손실은 HBH-HD시 17.2±9.6%, R-HD시 2.8±1.2%로 유의한 차이를 보였다 (p<0.0001). 그러나, HBH-HD시 측정한 K값은 136.9±14.6 mL/min, Kt/V는 1.27±0.21로 R-HD의 137.6±18.4 mL/min와 1.20±0.22와 각각 비교하여 볼 때 유의한 차이가 없었다 (p>0.05). 결 론 : 헤파린을 결합시킨 투석막을 사용한 혈액투석법은 출혈 위험성이 있는 말기신부전증 환자들에서 시행할 수 있는 안전하고 효과적인 투석법이다. 그러나 체외 회로에 심한 혈액응고를 완전히 방지하지는 못하므로 투석 중 투석기와 혈액관에서 혈액응고 발생 여부를 감시해야 한다. Objective : Positively charged N,N-diethyl-aminoehtyl groups on Hemophan enable negative charged heparin to be bound with the dialyzer membrane and hemodialysis using heparin bound Hemophan (HBH-HD) could be a hemodialysis modality in patients at risk of bleeding. We designed simplified heparin binding technique and evaluated the bleeding risk and effciency of HBH-HD in chronic renal failure patients at risk of bleeding. Methods : During the period from April 1995 through April 2002, 159 patients at high bleeding risk received 1057 HBH-HD (dialyzer : GFS plus 11, Gambro). The duration of each HBH-HD was standardized to 4 hours at blood-flow rate of 200-250mL/min. To evaluate of HBH-HD, we measured serum heparin concentration (HC) and activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) at baseline, 15, 60, 120 minutes and endpoint (240 minutes) (n=40). To evaluate the dialysis effciency, HBH-HD and routine hemodialysis with systemic heparinization (R-HD) were compared for total blood compartment volume (TBCV) loss, dialyzer urea clearance (K) and Kt/V in same study group patients (n=20). Results : Clotting of dialyzer necessitating termination of dialysis occurred in 11 (1.0%) out of 1,057 dialyses at 150 minutes, and clotting requiring change of blood line occurred in 64 dialyses (6.1%) between 150 and 230 minutes. There was a slight increase in the aPTT (mean±SD, 49.8±10.5 sec) and HC (0.14±0.06 U/㎖) at 15 min, compared to predialysis levels of 44.3±12.9 sec and 0.11±0.06 U/㎖, respectively (p>0.05). But no increase in aPTT, HC was observed in measurements at 60 min, 120 min, and at the endpoint. TBCV loss was significantly higher in HBH-HD (mean±SD, 17.2±9.6%), compared to R-HD (2.8±1.2%) (p<0.0001). However, K and Kt/V value (mean±SD) were 136.9±14.6 ㎖/min and 1.27±0.21 in HBH-HD and 137.6±18.4 ㎖/min and 1.20±0.22 in R-HD, showing no significant difference (p>0.05). Conclusion : HBH-HD could be a safe and efficient HD technique in patients at high risk of bleeding. Extracorporeal clotting, however, should be observed cardfully during HBH-HD.         음향방출시험에 의한 복합 재료 접합부의 비파괴평가

        복합재료의 single-lap 및 double-strap adhesive bonding joint 시험편에서 피로 및 인장시험시 방출되는 AE 신호의 분석에 의한 피로 수명 예측 및 파괴 과정의 감시에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. Bonding 시험편의 피로시험시 AE event의 발생양상은 피로에 의해 축적된 elastic strain energy의 방출과 관계되며, peak amplitude가 높고 event duration이 긴 event의 발생 영역과 peak amplitude가 낮고 event duration이 짧으나 많은 event가 발생되는 영역으로 나눌 수 있었다. 그리고 두 영역 사이의 경계 cycle은 피로 수명의 70-80% 근방에 존재하였으며, 이를 이용한다면 피로 수명의 예측이 가능하리라 판단된다. Prediction of fatigue life and monitoring of fracture process for adhesively bonded CFRP composites joint have been investigated by analysis of acoustic emission signals during the fatigue and tension tests. During fatigue test, generated acoustic emission is related to stored elastic strain energy. By results of monitoring of AE vent rate, fatigue process could be divided into two regions, and boundaries of two regions, fatigue cycles of the initiation of fast crack growth, were 70-80% of fatigue life even though the fatigue life were highly scattered from specimen to specimen. The result shows the possibility of predicting catastrophic failure by acoustic emission monitoring.

      • SIRT1 is required for oncogenic transformation of neural stem cells and for the survival of “cancer cells with neural stemness” in a p53-dependent manner

        <P><B>Background</B></P><P>Cancer stemness, observed in several types of glioma stem cells (GSCs), has been demonstrated to be an important barrier for efficient cancer therapy. We have previously reported that cancerous neural stem cells (F3.Ras.CNSCs), derived from immortalized human neural stem cells by a single oncogenic stimulation, form glial tumors in vivo.</P><P><B>Method</B></P><P>We searched for a commonly expressed stress modulator in both F3.Ras.CNSCs and GSCs and identified silent mating type information regulation 2, homolog (SIRT1) as a key factor in maintaining cancer stemness.</P><P><B>Result</B></P><P>We demonstrate that the expression of SIRT1, expressed in “cancer cells with neural stemness,” is critical not only for the maintenance of stem cells, but also for oncogenic transformation. Interestingly, SIRT1 is essential for the survival and tumorigenicity of F3.Ras.CNSCs and GSCs but not for the U87 glioma cell line.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>These results indicate that expression of SIRT1 in cancer cells with neural stemness plays an important role in suppressing p53-dependent tumor surveillance, the abrogation of which may be responsible not only for inducing oncogenic transformation but also for retaining the neural cancer stemness of the cells, suggesting that SIRT1 may be a putative therapeutic target in GSCs.</P>

        저자들은 부산지역 신발 제조업 산업장 중 26개소를 선정하여 인쇄, 접착, 세정의 3개 부서를 대상으로 가스크로마토 그래프 분석 방법과 검지관 방식을 이용하여 7개 유기용제(Toluene, Benzene, Xylene, N-Hexane, C-Hexane, Methyl Ethyl Ketone, Methyl Isobuthyl Ketone)의 기중 농도를 산정하였다. In order to prepare the fundamental data for the improvement of working envirommnents and to contribute the health improvement of workers in shoes manufacturing industries, the authors measured the concentration of organic solvents(Toluene, Benzene, Xylene, N-Hexane, C-Hexane, MEK, MIBK) in the department of printing, adhesion, washing of the 26 shoes manufacturing industries in Pusan area from Sep. 1989 to Mar. 1990. The results were as follows; 1.The mean concentrations of all organic solvents did not exceed the threshold limit value, but the value of Tn/Cn for additive effects of organic solvents mixtures was 1.45. 2.The mean concentrations of organic solvents except Xylene were the highest in department of adhesion. 3.The concentration of Toluene, Benzene and N-Hexane has significant relationship between gaschromatographic analysis and detector tube method.
