Acinetobacter species is a non-fermentative aerobic gram-negative coccobacillus that is an important pathogen found in nosocomial infections. Recently, multi-drug resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (MDR-AB) infections have been increasing and pose a serious problem. Most such infections present as bacteremia, pneumonia, or a wound infection; however, CNS infections are very rare. We herein present a case of ventriculitis caused by MDR-AB in a 37-year old man after a neurosurgical intervention. The patient was successfully treated with intrathecal colistimethate.

저자등은 전신적인 소양감을 동반한 홍반성 판상의 피부 병변과 자가 면역성 용혈성 빈혈이 동반된 Sezary 증후군을 진단하고 복합 화학 요법 CHOP으로 치료하여 피부 증상과 빈혈이 호전된 예를 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하였다. Sezary syndrome(SS), a leukemic variant of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma(CTCL), is monoclonal proliferation of CD4 T-cell having cerebriform nuclei in the skin and the peripheral blood. It is associated with erythroderma, pruritis, lymphadenopathy with protracted clinical course and systemic spread. We present a case of SS i a 38-year-old woman with generalized exfoliative erythroderma, plaques, and pruritus. Histopathologic findings of the skin lesions revealed infiltration of atypical lymphocytes in the dermis and epidermis. Electron microscopic findings of peripheral blood and skin showed atypical lymphocytes with cerebriform nuclei. Laboratory findings revealed direct Coombs' positive autoimmune hemolytic anemia, a rare association of SS. Chemotherapy with CHOP produced improvement of the skin manifestation and anemia.
뇌졸중으로 인한 여성 편마비 환자와 일반인의 고관절 등속성 근력 비교분석

The purpose this study was to compare the difference of isokinetic muscle strength between general people and hemiplegia. Also, the experimental instruments used were Martin's anthropometer(PKS-100, Japan), weight meter(TBF-202, Japan), and isokinetic equipment(CYBEX NORM, USA). To analyze the data, the statistical method used in this study were mean, standard deviation, and t-test using SPSS for Windows(Version 10.0). Based on aforementioned research method, the results of this study are as follows. 1. Peak torque, pear torque % body weight. There is a marked difference on the left. On the case of the concentric contraction extension, there is also a marked difference on the right. 2. Angle of Peak torque. There is a marked difference in concentric contraction flexion 180°/sec of both sides and eccentric contraction flexion 60°/sec, extension 180°/sec of the left. 3. Total work, total work % body weight. There is a marked difference on the hip except concentric contraction flexion. 4. Average power, average power % body weight. There is a marked difference on the hip except concentric contraction flexion. 5. Peak torque in antagonists. There is a marked difference in concentric contraction left 120·180°/sec and eccentric contraction left 180°/sec.
성장과 운동수행능력 향상에 도움을 주는 식이조성물의 개발

We developed a dietary supplement using natural herbs and nutrients for the growth and exercise performance improvement. It called JR-22 supplement containing distilled extracts of natural herbs to remove bitterness and the addition of Vitamin B1, B6, Ca and xylitol. We investigated on the effect of JR-22 supplementation on the maximal exercise performance, IGF-1 (insulin like growth factor-1) concentration and antioxidant activity in SD rat model. In result, JR-22 supplement group was better than control group about 10% in exercise performance test and increased about 63% of IGF-1 concentration in blood. In addition, the oxidative damage induced by exercise was reduced by JR- 22 supplementation. Therefore, we suggested that JR-22 supplementation enhanced effectively exercise performance and IGF-1 concentration and reduced to oxidative stress in muscles. Also, we analysed biochemical factors in blood for the safety of JR-22 supplement. We known that there is no change of blood lactic acid, ammonia, inorganic phosphorous ion and creatine kinase activity.
Flavobacterium meningosepticum에 의한 균혈증 1예

1996년 6월 카톨릭대학교 부천성가병원에 뇌경색으로 입원했던 61세 남자 환자의 혈액에서 Flavobacterium meningosepticum을 분리하였다. 환자는 폐렴을 동반한 패혈증의 예로 ceftriaxone과 metronidazole을 투여하였으나 입원 48시간만에 사망하였다. Flabovacterium meningosepticum is a rae cause of nosocomial infection which shows multi-drug resistance. It mainly invades patients with impaired immunity. Recently, we experienced a case of F. meningosepticum bacteremia in a patient with chronic debilitated state owing to stroke. The clinical progress was so rapid that he died within 48 hours. Blood culture revealed F. meningosepticum which showed characteristic yellow colony in blood agar plate.

Nowadays, as the development period of new products becomes shorter and consumer's requirement is more various, the importance of Rapid Prototyping Technology has been rapidly increased. Rapid Prototyping makes prototypes or functional parts directly using the 3D CAD data. But RP machines can make protypes in limit size. For making large size prototype, we slice solid, which is made of STL file, and then glue sliced solid. And if contact area of part is small, union solid will be easily destroyed for going down of adhesion. So we need to expand contact area, I suggest making a section into stair shape. This paper is concerned with slicing solid on STL file and improving on adhesion.
장내의 탄수화물과 지방 흡수 억제를 통한 체지방 및 비만 개선 효과에 관한 연구

In a previous study, a dietary supplement was developed in our lab using natural herbal extracts against digest enzyme activity in GI tract for weight control. This natural herbal extracts could regulate absorption of glucose and lipid by the inhibition of digest enzyme activity. In this study, we screened the natural herbs that inhibit glucoamylase activity and developed an water extract of cinnamon. The cinnamon extract delayed and decreased the increment of carbohydrate degradation through the inhibition of glucoamylase activity in vitro. Fifty volunteers were subjected to the intake of the herbal extracts by taking twice a day for 60 days. As a result, the treated subjects lost 3kg of body weight and 3.5kg of body fat mass after the treatment. Furthermore, the body mass index and waist size were significantly decreased during the experimental period. Above results suggested that the administration of the dietary additives composed of cinnamon and natural herbal extract improves the obesity by the decrement of body weight and body fat mass.
