        Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma is a rare neoplasm that arises from the mesothelium of a serosal cavity and is a rapidly fatal disease with a median survival of 4 to 12 months for untreated cases. Recently, we experienced a case with malignant peritoneal mesothelioma who was suspected hepatocelluar carcioma by abdominal CT scan and was confirmed by biopsy including immunohistochemical stain(calretinin) after surgery. We performed tumor excisions and wedge resection of the liver(segment Ⅷ)and inserted Tencoff catheter in abdominal cavity at 25th day of post-operation. We treated with intraperitoneal paclitaxel(25mg/m^(2)/day for 5 days) six courses monthly. She was well tolerable and is still living without any evidence of recurrence for 14th month of post-operation.

        발열이 있는 호중구 감소증 환자에서의 위험도 예측인자

        Background: Most febrile neutropenic patients are treated in an aggressive manner. However, identification of low-risk patients may enable clinicians to administer risk-based treatment. The object of this study is to certify the factors associated with increased risk at the time of visiting the emergency department. Methods: This is a retrospective study. We reviewed the medical records of 101 febrile neutropenic patients who had visited the emergency department of Seoul National University Hospital from January 1998 to August 1999. We assumed 22 risk prediction factors that could be assessed at admission to the emergency department and 5 factors that could be assessed during treatment course. To find independent risk-prediction factors, we analyzed these factors respectively by using multiple regression analysis. Results: Tachycardia(aOR=136.5), altered mentality(aOR=28.8), decreased renal function(aOR=20.1), and significant comorbidity(aOR=17,2) are the independent factors associated with higher mortality. Altered mentality(aOR=31.6) and decreased renal function(CCr < 75㎖/min, aOR=5.4) are those associated with a higher incidence of septic shock. Independent factors associated with persistent(more than 3 days) fever are the early(within 10 days) onset of fever after last chemotherapy(aOR=8.8) and the existence of new pulmonary infiltrates on a simple chest X-ray(aOR=4.3). Conclusion: The stability of vital signs, the change of mentality, the renal function, the existence of significant comorbidity, the existence of new pulmonary infiltrates, and the rate of neutropenia are clinically useful risk-prediction factors in febrile neutropenia at the time of visiting the emergency department.

        Method for Protection of Single‑Line‑Ground Fault of Distribution System with DG Using Distance Relay and Directional Relay

        When large scales DG are connected to the distribution system of unidirectional power currents, bi-directional power currents are formed, making it impossible to use conventional overcurrent protection methods alone to detect and isolate fault sections for ground and short-circuit faults. To solve these problems, this study proposed the method of protection against single-line-ground fault of common neutral line multi-contact local power distribution system using distance relay and directional relay. The proposed protection method was applied to the common neutral multi-ground distribution system to validate the protection against single-line-ground fault through the PSCAD/EMTDC software package and efectively detect and isolate only the zone of single-line-ground fault without malfunctions.

      • 거푸집 개발용 GFRP보강 폴리머 복합패널의 휨 특성

        본 연구는 반영구수명의 교량상판용 영구거푸집을 개발할 목적으로 리브를 갖는 GFRP보강 폴리머 콘크리트 복합패널을 제작하고 이에 대한 휨특성을 고찰한 것이다. 연구에서 리브높이와 인장측 GFRP보강층 두께를 달리하는 12종류의 GFRP보강 폴리머 콘크리트 복합패널 시험체를 제작하고 이에 대한 휨시험을 수행함으로써 리브 높이와 GFRP보강층 두께가 복합패널의 휨특성에 미치는 영향을 실험적으로 구명하였다. 시험결과 GFRP보강 폴리머 콘크리트 복합패널의 극한 모멘트는 GFRP 보강두께가 증가 1.0에서 4.0 mm로 증가 할때, 리브 높이에 관계없이 약 93~101%의 거의 일정한 중가폭을 보였고, 리브 높이가 1.0에서 3.0cm로 증가할 때, GFRP 보강층 두께에 관계없이 약 35~41%의 거의 일정한 증가폭을 보였다. 또한 강도설계법에 기초한 극한모멘트 예측식은 실험결과와 잘 부합되어 리브를 갖는 GFRP 보강 폴리머 콘크리트 복합패널을 영구거푸집에 적용할 시 지간에 따른 상용 단면설계에 매우 유용하게 적용될 것이다. In this study, twelve different GFRP-reinforced polymer concrete composite panel specimens with various rib heights and tensile side and reinforced side thickness were produced. flexural tests were conducted to figure out the effect of the height and thickness influencing on the flexural properties of composite panel. Test results of the study are presented. Especially, a prediction equation of the ultimate moment based on the strength design method agrees well with the test results, and it is thought to be useful for the corresponding design of cross-section according to various spans as the GFRP-reinforced polymer concrete composite panel is applied for a permanent form.

      • 결핵균 α-항원의 정제와 면역화학적 분석에 관한 연구

        α-antigen from the culture filtrate of Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv was purified by improved purification procedures and immunoaffinity chromatography using rabbit anti-α serum. Improved purification procedures were involved 50% ammonium sulfate precipitation, hydroxylapatite chromatography, Sephadex G-75 chromatography and preparative natural polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis(PAGE). We also produced seven monoclonal antibodies against α-antigen by hybridoma technique and analyzed immunochemical characterization of α-antigen by SDS-PAGE, ELISA and Western bolt using monoclonal antibodies. The results were summarized as follows; 1. The purification of α-antigen from the unheated culture filtrate by 50% ammonium sulfate precipitation, hydroxylapatite chromatography and Sephadex G-75 chromatography resulted in recovery of 16% of α-antigen and 28.5-fold purification. α-antigen purified further by preparative natural-PAGE showed a single distinctive band of 30 KDa molecule on SDS-PAGE. 2. The molecular weight of α-antigen was 30,000 as determined by SDS-PAGE and Sephadex G-75 chromatography. 3. α-antigen was purified by immunoaffinity chromatography as single step. The affinity purified α-antigen showed a band of 30 KDa molecule and showed another contaminated band of 32 KDa molecule on SDS-PAGE. 4. By Western blot analysis, seven monoclonal antibodies against α-antigen showed a distinct band of 30 KDa molecule and multiple different bands between 25 KDa and 65 KDa molecules. 5. All monoclonal antibodies produced were revealed strong cross reactivities with the sonicate antigens of slow growing and rapid growing mycobacteria by ELISA. These results suggest that α-antigen, 30 KDa of molecular weight, could be purified well by the im-proved above purification procedures and contains many cross-reactive antigenic determinants on the molecule.

      • 금정산 식물상의 변화에 관한 연구

        For the purpose of this study is to analyze the flora of plants and forest vegetation of Mt. Keumjung. The results of the study can be described as below. 1. Plants growing at the 8 quadrates of the Mt. Keumjung were 24 families, 36 genuses and 3 species in 1994 and 23 families, 33 genuses and 49 species in 2001. 2. The soil acidity of the 8 areas surveyed here in 2001 was 4.8 to 5.5 in pH, indicating that the soil was gradually being oxidized. The soil hardness was found 15.8 to 28.3 mm, 20.8 in average. 3. Pinus rigida was found highest In dominance, occupying 352% of the total population of arbors, followed by 2.96% for Alnus hirsuta and 2.51 for Styrax japonicn while among the azalea was found highest in dominance, accounting for 44.49% out of the total population of shrubs, followed by 15.14% for Rhododendron yedoense var. poukanese and 3.92 for Rubus idaeus var. concolor. 4. Of the 8 quadrates, sect 8 of the North Gate was highest in the number of extinct trees. 15 kinds. This is probably because of the pressure by climbers' steps. Sect 3 of the West Gate and sect 5 of the South gate had 8 kinds of extinct trees, respectively. The number of newly appeared trees was highest at sect 7 of the North Gate, 8 kinds, followed by sect 5 and sect 6, respectively 5 kinds. 5. At the area of the West Gate(sect 3, sect 4) to which the sabbatical year system(Area : Puk-gu district and a part of Keumjung-gu district) was applied, 21 plant species newly appeared, more than any of the other areas. At the area of the South Gate(sect 5, sect 6). in contrast, 15 plant species disappeared and at the area of the North Gate(sect 7, sect 8). as many as 20 became extinct. The areas surveyed here showed that the extinction of plant species was mainly due to the pressure by climbers' steps rather than to changes in natural environment. To protect the forest and plants of the Mt. Keumjung, thus, it is necessary to increase the period and area of the sabbatical year system and take more effective actions for the management of the forest and plants.

      • 태종대 등대 주변의 식생현황 및 식생복원 방안

        This study is to survey and analyze the vegetation status around a Lighthouse area in Taejongdae for suggesting a revegetation method. 8 field surveys were conducted from Sept. to Oct., 2005, then representative sites were classified for further analysis. The results of the study are as follows. 1. Total of 100 plant species consisting 43 woody plants and 57 herbaceous plants were identified from the field survey. 2. 4 woody plants and 17 herbaceous plants were found in site A. Dominant woody plant were Pinus thunbergii & Eurya japonica. Trachelospermum asiaticum, Hedera rhombea, Oplismenus undulatifolius were mainly covered as the ground cover plants. 3. 4 woody plants were found in B-1 site and dominant species were Boehmeria pannosa, Pittosporum tobira, Elaeagnus macrophylla, etc. 4. 14 herbaceous plants were found in B-2 site and dominant species were Lysimachia mauritiana, Crepidiastrum lanceolatum, Setaria viridis, etc. 5. B-3 site is concrete wall. Thus it's concluded that such herbaceous plants as Parthenocissus tricuspidata, Hedera rhombea are suggested for rapid revegetation. 6. B-3 site is a flower bed area covered by Rhododendron indicum, Liriope platyphylla. Thus, it's recommended that such native plants as Aster spathulifolius, Farfugium japonicum etc. need to be placed. 7. 5 woody plants and 22 herbaceous plants were found in 8-5 site and dominant species were Pinus thunbergii, Boehmeria pannosa, etc. 8. Seed-spray and SF, CODRA, PEC landscape engineering techniques are suitable for revegetation in 8-2 and 8-5 sites. 9. It's also concluded that native plants and their seed were most suitable for the recovery of the original vegetation of 8-2 and 8-5 sites were when considering the factors of natural succession, landscape ecology and surrounding landscape.

      • 異功散의 免疫增强效果에 관한 實驗的 硏究

        This experimental study was carried out to evaluate the immunomodulatory effects of Ekong-san. To evaluate the immunomodulatory effects of Ekong-san, delayed type hypersensitivity, hemagglutinin and hemolysin titers for hymoral immune response, rosette forming cells for cell-mediated immune response, natural killer cell activity, proliferation of lymphocyte, productivity of Interleukin-2, and carbon clearance were measured with methotrexate treated mice. The results were summarized as follows; 1.The influence of the treatment on hemagglutinin and hemolysin titers, rosette forming cells, the proliferation of lymphocyte, and productivity of Interleukin-2 was dose-dependent and the results showed a significant difference when compared to control group. This implies that the humoral immune response was activated. 2.The natural killer cell activity was significantly increased in both sample groups as compared to the control group when the effector cell:target cell ratios were 100:1 and 0:1. However when the ratio was 10:1, there was no significant difference with the control group. 3.Carbon clearance, the proliferration effect of phagocytes was significantly increased sample group as compared to the control group. According to the results, Ekong-san has the immuno-activity. We could suggest that Ekong-san is able to be applied to the anti-cancer treatment and prevention.

      • 몰운대유원지 땃쥐의 生態에 관한 硏究

        This study was conducted four ecological survey of Crocidura suaveolens Molundae Park in Busan City from September, 2003 to June, 2004 for the understanding of Crocidura suaveolens infuence to forest. The results are obtained as follows; 1. The species of a small mammal collected were Crocidura suaveolens of insectvore and not collected field mice. 2. The total collecting rate were 1.7% collected 8 individuals of Crocidura suaveolens from 476 traps. 3. The constitution of weight of Crocidura suaveolens was 4 - 8.9g 4. The sex ratio of Crocidura suaveolens was 37.5% : 62.5% 5. The average body, tail, hind foot and ear lengh was 62.25mm, 39.50mm, 11.38mm, 7.63mm in Crocidura suaveolens. 6. The breeding period of Crocidura suaveolens in Molundae Park presumes from about June. 7. The average litter size of Crocidura suaveolens was three head.

      • 부산시 가로수 현황과 토양환경개선에 관한 연구

        The purpose of this study is to analyze the correlation between soil hardness, soil acidity, and the vitality of street trees. This data was investigatived in 40 areas on 10 main street routes of Pusan; Chungang-ro, Naktong-ro, Suyeong-ro, Taejong-ro, Konghang-ro, Kudeok-ro, Kumjeong-ro, Mandeok-ro, Kaya-ro, Chungjang-ro. The findings are as follows : 1. The average soil hardness where tree grates have been built was shown to be 22.23㎜. In the absence of tree grates, the average soil hardness was 24.60㎜. These figures do not exceed the accepted parameters for acceptable soil hardness when rearing trees (22∼25㎜). However, soil hardness was measured higher in areas where tree grates were absent. Consequently, tree grates are necessary. 2. Soil acidity was measured as satisfactory(pH 5.5), mediocre(pH 5.5∼5.0), inferior(pH 5.0∼4.5), very inferior(pH 4.5). No areas were measured as satisfactory soil acidity. Four areas were measured as mediocre(10%), 19 areas as inferior(47.5%), and 17 areas as very inferior (42.5%). This indicates a requirement to improve soil acidity as about 90% of the investigatived areas were measured as either inferior or very inferior. 3. The following is an analysis of correlation between soil hardness, soil acidity and the vitality of the Ginkgo biloba ; The Ginkgo biloba was found to have a positive correlation was measured with the diagram (R²). In conclusion, the results of the analysis show a strong influence of soil hardness and soil acidity upon the vitality of Street Tree.
