        인삼(Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer) 신품종 고풍의 육성경과 및 생육특성

        To develop a new ginseng variety with good quality and high yielding, a lot of individual ginseng plant were selected in the farmers' fields in 1968. Among them, a promising line, 680-83-4, has been developed through comparative cultivation of several lines selected with pure line separation from local races in KT&G Central Research Institute, preliminary and advanced yield trials were performed for 8 years. 680-83-4 was designated as KG103, which was then registered as a new variety “Gopoong” with the regional yield and adaptation trials for 10 years (1981-1990) on December<br/> 27, 2000 in Korea. Gopoong has different phenotype of a dark violet stem and dark red fruit and inverted triangle shape of berries cluster as compared with other varieties. Taproot of Gopoong was longer than local race Jakyungjong, and root yield was 4.5% higher than local race Jakyungjong. In red ginseng quality, the rates of Chun-Jeesam grade(Chun and Jee means 1st and 2nd grade, respectively) were 16.6% and 9.4% for Gopoong and Jakyungjong, respectively. In these results, it was that Gopoong was superior ginseng line with good quality for manufacture of red ginseng.

        흰쥐 삼차신경 척수감각핵의 미측소핵 세포의 전압의존성 소디움통로와 포타슘통로에 대한 전기생리학적 연구

        The caudal subnucleus of the spinal trigeminal nucleus (medullary dorsal horn ; MDH) receives direct inputs from unmyelinated and thinly myelinated, small diameter primary afferent fibers. Thus, the MDH is implicated in the processing of nociceptive information in the orofacial region. In this study, the types and characteristics of voltage-dependent ion currents were investigated in acutely isolated MDH neurons of postnatal rats by means of the whole cell patch clamp techniques. Coronal slice (400㎛) of the trigeminal caudal subnucleus region was sequentially treated with pronase 0.2㎎/㎖. then single neurons were mechanically dissociated. Voltage-dependent sodium currents showed that the half-maximum activation potential was -41.8±1.8mV and half-maximum inactivation potential was -62.4±3.0mV. And the currents were blocked totally by application of 100nM tetrodotoxin. In a Ca^2+ free solution, low-threshold transient (I_A) and high-threshold sustained (I_K) currents were recorded. The half-maximum activation and inactivation potential of I_K were 2.5±1.9mV and -37.1±2.3mV, respectively. I_A was activated and inactivated more rapidly than I_K. The half-maximum activation and inactivation potential were -21.6±6.3mV and -84.5±5.0mV, respectively. When a 4-aminopyridine of 5mM was applied, I_A was almost totally blocked. These results reveal that MDH neurons express a variety of voltage-dependent ionic currents with distinct physiological and pharmacological properties, and they play an essential role in the transmission and modulation of sensation, especially pain, from trigeminal region.

      • 흰쥐 내측 전정핵 세포의 막전도도와 시냅스 전달에 대한 Opioid 및 Orphan Opioid의 작용

        Whole cell patch clamp recordings were carried out on the medial vestiidar nucleus (MVN) neumns in the brainstem slice of neonatal rats to investigate the actiom of the opioid and orphan opioid (nociceptin) on the membrane conductances and synaptic transmission. Nociceptin (2μM) inhibited the spontaneous discharge in the majority (83%) of MVN neurons. This inhibition was insensitive to the non-specific opioid receptor antagonist naloxone (10μM), but was effectively antagonized by the selective opioid receptor-like 1 (ORL_1) receptor antagonist, [Nphe'] nociceptin (1-13)NH₂ (3μM). The spontaneous discharges were inhibited by the 6-opioid receptor agonist, [D-ala², D-leu^5]-enkephaline (DADLE) (10μM) in the majority of MVN neurons (73%), but not by the p-cipioid receptor agonist DAMGO (3μM) and δ-opioid receptor agonist, deltoxphin (2μM). The inhibitory effect of nociceptin was more prominent than that of DADLE. Nociceptin and DADLE had no effect on the rate or amplitude of miniatwe inhiiitory postsynaptic currents (mIPSCs). Nociceptin induced an outward current, and which was blocked by [Nphe^1] nociceptin(1-13) NH_2 in MVN neurons. Outward current reversed at -81±2 mV, which was close to the K' equilibrium potential as calculated by the Nernst equation in 6mM extracellular potassium solution. This indicates that the action of nociceptin involves postsynaptic recepton on the MVN n m m. Similar current activation was observed with DADLE. In conclusion, these results suggest that nociceptin and DADLE modulate neuronal excitability by activating a K' umductance in postsynaptic neurons, not by modulation of synaptic transrmssion in MVN neurons.

        Background: Superior colliculus is a part of midbrain, and participates in the visual reflexes, It receives afferent fibers from optic nerve, visual cortex, and spinotectal tract. After optic deprivation, the microscopic structure of the superior colliculus changed. Calcium-binding proteins (CBPs) Play an important role in the neuronal protection, differentiation and reorganization of the central nervous system, Objectives and Methods: The effects of neonatal retinal deafferentation on a CBPs, calbindm D-28k (CB), Parvalbumin (PB) and calretimn (CR), and the existence of colocalization between the CBPs were examined immunohistochemically in the rat superior colliculus. Results: On the experimental (contralateral to enucleation) side of superior colliculus, the number of CB-immunoreactive (IR) cells was reduced (77.4% compared to control), but not fibers. The number of PB-IR neurons and fibers was also reduced on the experimental side (88.5% compared to control), In the other hand, the CR-IR cells were dramatically increased (642% compared to control), but CR-IR fibers were markedly decreased on the experimental side. The colocalization between CB-CR and PV-CR was rarely observed in the superior colliculus Conclusion: These results suggest that the changes of retinotectal projection may alter the expressional pattern of CBPs in different manners; relatively stable in CB- and PV-IR neurons and plastic in CR-IR neurons.

        This study was aimed at investigating the injury of Ssireum athletes. The Subjects employed were a 909 Ssireum athletes. To put the subjects concretely premary school students were 246, middle school were 261, high school were 305 and college and general athletes were 246, The result obtained about physical site of injury, injury ocurred season, necessary period in remedy and ways of treats are summarized as follows. 1. In view of physical site of injury, knee joint injury was 28%, vertebra injury was 22% and ankle joint 21% of all. 2. In view of injury occurred season, the case of injury occurred in winter was 37.7% and next was the case of injury occurred in spring as 28.8%. 3. Necessary period in remedy was generally appeared 2∼3 months in the injury of ankle joint, knee joint and vertebra. The other injury generally needed within 1 month in remedy. 4. Ways of treats were different in accordance with the Physical site of injury. But knee joint injury mostly relyed upon physical therapy and vertebra and ankle joint injury geneally relyed upon chinese medicine.

        의사국가시험성적과의 상관관계로 살펴본 임상종합평가시험의 가치 : 2002년 연세대 원주의대 졸업생을 대상으로

        Korean Medical Licensing Examination(KMLE) 2002 focused on evaluation of the integrative medical knowledge such as primary clinical care or problem-solving competence. We analyzed the correlation among the year-wise student academic scores(grade score), trial examination scores and KMLE score by correlation analysis and multiple regression method. Four times of trial examination were taken in 2001, which were composed according to the principles of KMLE. Trial examination scores were significantly correlated with student grade scores (p(0.05). KMLE score also correlated with student grade score a nd trial examination score. The grade score at senior had higher correlation coefficient than the grade score at junior in correlation analysis. In multiple regressions, grade score at senior and mean score of trial examinatio n score were significant variants affecting KMLE score. Based on this result, regression formula such as [KMLE score] = 110.596+21.449^*[6th grade score of student] + 0.577^*[mean of trial examination score] was established (R2=0.764, p<0.001). Our results show that the trial examination is useful evaluation tool for final assessment of medical achievements. Also a trial examination is used as a reference data for student guidance and control in preparing for KMLE.

        소아 확장성 심근증의 임상적 고찰

        A Clinical assessment of the 25 patients with dilated cardiomyopathy who were admitted to the Department of Pediatrics, Keimyung University Dong San Hospital from January, 1982 to June, 1993 was performed. The result were as follows: 1) Among 25 patients with dilated cardiomyopathy. 8(32%) were younger than 1 year of age at the time of admission. 2) Adriamycin toxicity was the only encountered etiologic factor in 1 patient. 3) On admission, hepatomegaly and tachycardia were noted in almost all patients. 4) The Chest X-rays showed cardiomegalies in all 25 patients, pulmonary vein congestions in 15(60%) and pleural effusion in 2(8%). 5) The electrocardiography showed left ventricular hypertrophy in 72% and supraventricular tachycardia in 32%. 6) The echocardiographic examination showed left ventricular dilatations in all patients and left atrial dilatations in 20(80%). 7) Of 18 patients who had followed mean period of 2.9 years, 10 patients died within 9 months after the diagnosis.

        In Conclusion, it is demanded that we throw away a fixed idea that commercial sports facilities are inferior and that we think its desirable direction of development and prepare a positive policy for it as a social physical education sports facility. We ought to not control it by using the laws of merrymaking businesses but consider the way to guide, assist, and encourage it at a dimension of Physical education development from seperate point of view as stated above. It Plays roles to replenish the shortage of public sports facilities especially in our country, So we first evaluate its roles to be being carried out and its performance limit properly and need to grasp newly the roles of public, private and commercial physical education and sports facilities in the whole organization of social physical education. While the national interests and demands in sports are being expended and accelerated nowadays, if commerical sports facilites are negleated in the contempt and indifference in the actual situation of these days, witout the reasonable conversion of conciousness of the people in the administration authorities about this or the propulsion of constrution of public facilities, the menbership free of menbers using facilities will inevitably soar, the approach of most general public enjoying sports to these facilities will be more difficults, and the alienated people from sports facilites may diffuse the conflict and stress caused by a remarkable contrast of the wealth of money by doing various kinds of antisocial and unadaptable behavior and by drinking too much enough to injure health. These make sports for participating and acting disappear and make sport for just hearing and Watching. This was happended severely in the past and it turns away the essence of soprts while the former is a conflict among castes caused by the superiority and inferiority of sports technics, but a phenomenon of these days is a conflict among castes caused by the distinction of the wealth of maney. This promotes the feelings of distance among people and misleads the vigor of living sports, the sports of our life.

        Molecular re-confirmation and floral characteristics of drooping leaf (DL) mutants generated by insertional mutagenesis in rice

        Transposon tagging and insertional mutagenesis provide one of the most powerful tools in gene function studies. Here, we report a comparison between two novel drooping leaf (DL)mutants from transposon and T-DNA insertion lines of rice. DL is distinct from well-known ABC genes and a member of the YABBY gene family, and it is closely related to the CRABS CLAW (CRC) gene of Arabidopsis thaliana. Based on phenotypic analysis, DL regulated midrib formation by promoting cell proliferation in the central region of rice leaf and was necessary for the specification of carpel identity. We identified two DL mutants by screening the Ac/Ds and T-DNA insertional mutant pool of rice. Flanking sequence tag analysis indicated that both Ds and T-DNA segments were inserted in the promoter region at 3.4 kbs and 5.4 kb upstream, respectively,of the previously known OsYABBY domain. Interestingly, the progenies of DL lines of two different pools showed various degrees of leaf drooping and abnormal carpel formation. Flower structures revealed that there were more than two stigmas with normal stamens and pistils per panicle in the Ds-induced mutants. However, T-DNA induced mutant had extra stamens with staminoid carpels. These results indicate that the promoter region of DL plays an important function in regulating anther and carpel formation.
