        國內飼育 犬에 있어서 心臟絲狀蟲의 感染率에 관한 調査 硏究

        The purpose of this study was carried out an epidemiological survey on the prevalence rate of the canine heartworms in Seoul City and the districts of Pa-Ju, Seong-Nam and Po-Chon in Kyonggi province of Korea from September 1994 to the end of September 1995. The blood samples from 292 male and 193 female dogs (pet, 363 ; fighting dogs, 60 ; working dogs, 62) were examined for the adult heartworms cuticle antibodies using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELSA) kits. The test was designed to detect the antibodies of the host against the specific cuticle antigens produced with the adult heartworms.

        Prediction of Retained Austenite Fraction in Quenching-and-Partitioning (Q&P) Steels Using the Gibbs Energy Balance Approach

        Prediction of retained austenite fraction is quite important in designing advanced high strength steels since retained austeniteis the source of transformation-induced plasticity. The present study investigates the phase constitution of a medium-carbonQ&P steel by comparing various approaches to the transformation stasis of bainitic ferrite and applying them to the partitioningprocess. Among them, the modified GEB approach gave the best agreement with the experimental observation, includingthe effects of heat-treatment condition and chemical composition on phase constitution. This indicates phase transformationduring partitioning can be effectively described by the physics of Gibbs energy balance approach.

        In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

      • 난소절제후 Estrogen을 투여한 흰쥐 대동맥에서 Protein Kinase C-α와 Fas 발현의 변화

        Estrogen is believed to decrease coronary artery disease. Protein kinase C-α(PKCα)appear to be important in signal conduction pathways. Estrogen treatment increases catalytic activity of PKCα,and activation of PKCαcan modulate estrogen receptor levels and responsiveness. And it was reported that activation of PKC can protect cells from apoptosis induced by Fas ligation. But the beneficial effect of estrogen on PKCαwas not clearly demonstrated. The objective of this study was to evaluate the role of PKCαafter ovariectomy and estrogen therapy in rat aorta. The results were summarized as below: 1. The significant pathological changes were not observed in the rat aorta irrelevant to ovariectomy and estrogen therapy. 2. The expression of Fas was decreased in the aorta of estrogen-treated rats than that of ovariectomized rats without estrogen therapy. 3. Increased expression of PKCαwas more marked in the aprta of estrogen-treated rats than that of ovariectomized rat without estrogen therapy. In conclusion,PKCαmay be important in signal conduation pathway on the effect of estrogen. Activation of PKCαby estrogen reduced Fas expression, suggesting that PKCαactivation may play a role in protection against atherasclerosis. Further studies are needed to elucidate the role of PKCαafter estrogen therapy.

        사회적 상호작용을 강조한 과학 탐구실험의 효과

        사회적 상호작용을 강조한 과학탐구실험이 학생들의 학업성취와 과학탐구능력 및 학습동기에 미치는 효과에 대해 연구하였으며, 탐구실험 수업이 소집단의 구성방식에 따라 어떠한 차이를 나타내는지 알아보기 위해 인지수준이 동질인 집단과 이질인 집단의 효과를 비교하였다. 이를 위해 중학교 2학년 255명을 통제집단과 실험집단으로 나누어, 실험집단에는 사회적 상호작용을 강조한 과학탐구실험 수업을, 통제집단에는 전통적인 실험 수업을 1년간 적용한 후 과학학업성취도, 과학탐구능력, 학습동기 검사를 실시하였다. 사회적 상호작용을 강조한 탐구실험은 이끌어내기, 친숙해지기, 구성하기, 확장하기의 4단계로 구성되어 있으며, 관찰 현상을 학습과 연관시키고 실험을 설계하며 결론을 이끌어내는 과정을 통해 동료 및 교사와 상호작용을 할 수 있도록 구성되어 있다. 연구 결과 사회적 상호작용을 강조한 과학탐구실험은 학생들의 학업성취와 과학탐구능력 및 학습동기에서 유의미한 효과가 있었다. 모든 인지수준의 학생들에게 효과가 나타난 것은 아니었으나 대분분의 인지 수준에서 학업성취의 효과가 크게 나타났으며, 학업성취에 비해 과학탐구능력의 향상정도가 낮았다. 소집단 구성에 따른 효과에서는 동질집단이 이질집단에 비해 성취도와 학습동기에서 유의미한 향상이 있었다. 이러한 결과는 과학탐구실험에서 상호작용이 중요하며, 상호작용이 학생들의 성취도와 탐구능력 향상에 긍정적 영향이 있음을 시사한다. This study investigated the effects of scientific inquiry experiments emphasizing social interaction on the academic achievement, the ability for science inquiry and the learning motivation of the students. To examine the differences among the classes of scientific inquiry experiments according to the way of organizing small groups, the effects of the group in homogeneous cognitive level and the group in heterogeneous cognitive level were compared. 255 7th-graders were grouped into the treatment group and the control group. After the treatment group received the scientific inquiry experimental lessons emphasizing social interaction and the control group received traditional lessons for one year, academic achievement, ability for scientific inquiry, and learning motivation were examined. These inquiry experiments were composed of four steps which are eliciting, familiarizing, constructing and bridging. And students can interact with peers and teachers through the process of relating observed phenomena to concept, constructing experiment procedure, and eliciting results. The ANCOVA results revealed that there were significant effects of science inquiry experiments emphasizing social interaction on the academic achievement, the ability for scientific inquiry and the learning motivation of the students. The significant academic achievement of the students in most of the cognitive levels, if not all, was found and degree of improvement in the ability for scientific inquiry was lower than that in the academic achieve3ment. Concerning the effects according to the way of organizing small groups, there were significant improvement in academic achievement and learning motivation of the group in homogeneous cognitive level compared to the group in heterogeneous cognitive level. These results indicate that social interaction in learning is important and it has positive influences on the improvement in academic achievement and ability for scientific inquiry of students.

      • Pseudomonas putida SM 25의 Catechol 1,2-Dioxygenase의 부분정제와 이에 의한 cis,cis-Muconic Acid의 생성

        Pseudomonas putida SM 25 로부터 catechol 1,2-dioxygenase를 ammonium sulfate precipitation, DEAE-sepharose A-50 CL-6B ion exchange chromatography, phenyl-sepharose CL-4B hydro-phobic chromatography 및 preparative gel permeation chromatography를 통해 정제배율 806.2배, 정제수율 10.6%로 부분정제하였다. Phenol, benzoate, catechol 및 salicylate가 효소를 유도하였으며, 그 중 5mM phenol이 가장 좋은 결과를 나타내었다. 이 효소는 catechol에 대해서는 우수한 효소 활성을 보였으나, 4-methylcatechol, pyrogallol 및 protocatechuate에 대해서는 거의 활성을 보이지 않았으며, catechol에 대한 Km 값은 7.8 M 이었다. 이 효소는 pH 7.5, 40℃에서 가장 높은 활성을 보였다. 이 효소는 pH 7.0∼11.0에서 안정하였으며, 열에 불안정하여 50℃에서 15분 내에 활성을 완전히 잃었고, thiol기 저해제에 의한 영향을 받지 않았다. 이 효소에 의한 catechol의 반응산물을 UV-visible spectroscopy, HPLC-diode array spectroscopy, GC-mass spectrometry로 분석한 결과 cis,cis-muconic acid로 확인되었다.

      • 정수공정에서 이취미물질 제거에 관한 연구

        이취미물질중에서 페놀, Geosmin, 2-MIB를 선정하여 응집제(PACS)와 흡착제(PAC) 및 산화제(Cl2, ClO2)로 처리하였을 때 제거율을 알아보았다. 페놀의 경우 이산화염소(ClO2)와 분말활성탄(PAC)으로 처리하였을 때 제거효율이 높았고, Geosmin과 2-MIB는 분말활성탄(PAC)으로 처리하였을 때 제거효율이 높았다. 그러나 페놀, Geosmin, 2-MIB 모두 응집제(PACS), 염소(Cl2)로 처리하였을 경우에는 제거효율이 거의 없음을 알 수 있었다. The removal ratio of phenol, geosmin, and 2-MIB selected in odor and taste causing materials was investigated, when water was treated with coagulant(PACS), adsorbent(PAC), and oxidants(Cl2, ClO2). Phenol was removed at a relatively higher rate by the treatment with CIO2 and PAC(Powder Activated Carbon). The other side, geosmin and 2-MIB were removed at a higher rate by the treatment with PAC. But it was found that the treatment with coagulant(PACS) and chlorine(Cl2) for the removal of phenol, geosmin and 2-MIB was little removal efficiency.

        소방대원들의 실내, 실외 근무 형태에 따른 유산소 운동능력 및 등속성 근력

        The purpose of study was to investigate the influence of cardiopulmonary function and isokinetic knee joint muscle strength on duty form in the fm fighters. 28men who aged 30-40 years were measured by resting pulmonary function test, exercise stress test(Q4500, Quinton, Co.) and isokinetic knee joint muscle strength testing(Cybex 6000 dynamometer system). Subjects were divided into the 2 groups that were indoor duty group and outdoor duty group. Statistical analysis was performed using analysis of variance t-test. Major findings and conclusion are as follows: In body fat test, outdoor duty groups was showed lower than that of indoor duty group. For the lung function test at rest, lung volume, vital capacity, MVV, FEVO.5-1.0, expiratory and inspiratory flow rate were checked. In results, outdoor duty group was showed higher than that of indoor duty group. During exercise stress test, heart rate, ventilation, and oxygen uptake, were checked by automatic gas analyzer. In results, outdoor duty group was showed higher than that of indoor duty group. In isokmetic knee joint muscle strength, peak torque and average power of indoor duty group was showed significantly lower than that of outdoor duty group. At Comparison of right and left knee joint, isokinetic strength, isokinetic power and isokimtic endurance of right knee joint was showed significantly higher then that of left knee joint, but in 60 degree per second, left knee joint was showed higher then that of right knee joint. Result from this investigation show greater personal training and fire quell a not, emergency rescue activity was increased knee joint muscle strength. Therefore, physical fitness and health maintenance programs for fire fighters have been developed, implemented and proven to reduce morbidity and mortality and financial expenditures.

        제7학년 과학의 조석현상 학습을 위한 교재개발과 적용

        To help middle school students understand concept of tide, we developed a model of tide, and applied it to students in a middle school in Daegu city to find its effectiveness. The subjects consisted of 136 students of the 7th grade, divided into the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group (N=68) were given a learning cycle model, and the control group (N=68) were given a traditional lecture. The formative evaluation of the experiment was as follows: the average score of the experimental group was 6.43, and that of the control group was 5.68 (its full score 9), The result shows that the teaching method using the tidal model is more effective than the lecture-centered traditional one in helping the students understand the concept of tide. 이 연구는 조석개념에 대한 중학생들의 이해를 돕기 위해 수업에 사용할 조석모형을 개발하였다. 이 조석 모형을 활용한 수업이 중학생들의 조석의 이해에 얼마나 효과적인지 현장에 적용해 보았다. 이 연구의 적용은 대구 시내에 있는 한 중학교의 7학년 136명을 실험집단과 통제집단 의 두 집단으로 나누어 실시하였다 실험 집단(N=68)은 조석 모형을 순환학습 모형의 수업으로 실시하고 통제 집단(N=68)은 전통적 강의식 수업으로 실시하였다. 수업 후에 실시한 형성평가의 결과는,조석모형을 적용한 실험 집단의 평균점수는 6.43점(9점 만점),전통적 강의식으로 수업한 통제집단 은 5.68점으로 실험집단의 평균점수가 더 높았다. 그러므로 조석모형이 7학년 중학생 들의 조석현상의 개념이해에 효과적이었음을 보여준다.
