Purpose: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer in China and poses high morbidity and mortality. In recentyears, increasing evidence has indicated that microRNAs played important functions in the occurrence and development of tumors. The purpose of this study was to identify the biological mechanisms of miR-362 in CRC. Materials and Methods: Quantitative real-time PCR was carried out to assess the expression of miR-362 and SIX1. The Kaplan-Meier method was employed to evaluate the 5-year overall survival of CRC patients. The proliferative and invasive abilities of CRCcells were assessed by MTT and transwell assays. Results: miR-362 was significantly decreased in CRC tissues and cell lines, compared to the normal tissues and normal cells. Asignificant connection was confirmed between the overall survival of 53 CRC patients and low expression of miR-362. Downregulationof miR-362 inhibited the proliferation and invasion through binding to the 3'-UTR of SIX1 mRNA in CRC. Additionally, wediscovered that SIX1 was a direct target gene of miR-362 and that the expression of miR-362 had a negative connection with SIX1expression in CRC. SIX1 could reverse partial functions in the proliferation and invasion in CRC cells. Conclusion: miR-362 may be a prognostic marker in CRC and suppress CRC cell proliferation and invasion in part through targetingthe 3'-UTR of SIX1 mRNA. The newly identified miR-362/SIX1 axis provides insight into the progression of CRC.

Background There is high mortality rate and poor prognosis in lung cancer, especially non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Recent study showed that concurrent classic driver oncogene mutation with ROS1 rearrangement was found in NSCLC patients. However, whether this would affect the development and prognosis of NSCLC is still unclear. Objective To explore the clinical characteristics and prognosis of NSCLC patients harboring concurrent classic driver oncogene mutation with ROS1 rearrangement. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on 220 patients diagnosed with NSCLC. All samples were screened for EGFR and KRAS using amplification-refractory mutation system assay, and for ALK, ROS1 using RT-PCR. The clinical characteristics and clinical outcomes of concurrent gene alterations with ROS1 rearrangement were analyzed. Results In 220 patients, 12 (5.45%) were ROS1 rearrangement, who tend to be younger, non-smokers. The mutation rates of EGFR, KRAS, ALK and ROS1 in NSCLC were 28.64%, 1.82%, 3.64% and 5.45%, respectively. ROS1 rearrangement was identified to co-occur in 5 (2.27%) NSCLC patients. ROS1/EGFR co-alterations were found in 3.17% of NSCLC patients, 16.67% of ROS1-positive NSCLC patients. Concomitant ROS1/ALK rearrangement constituted 37.50% in ALK-positive patients, and 25.00% in ROS1-positive patients. SDC4-ROS1 was the most common fusion partner in concurrent ROS1 rearrangement patients. The median overall survival of NSCLC with concurrent ROS1 rearrangement group and single ROS1 rearrangement group were 25 months and 14 months. Conclusion Concurrent driver oncogenes mutation with ROS1 rearrangement defines a unique subgroup of NSCLC. Patients with concomitant ROS1 rearrangement might have a better prognosis.

This study was conducted to examine the effects of different soy-oil and soy-lecithin levels on growth performance, nutrient utilization and serum parameters in broiler chickens. Two hundred and forty 1-day-old Arbor Acres chicks were randomly divided into 4 groups and treated as follows: basal diet with 2% soy-oil (SO); soy-oil and soy-lecithin mixture in proportion of 75/25 (SOL1), 50/50 (SOL2) and 2% lecithin (SL). At the end of the trial (42 d), birds in SOL1 group grew faster (p<0.05) and had better feed conversion efficiency (p<0.05) than other groups while SL group had the lowest performance (p<0.05). The utilization of ether extract was improved in SOL1 group (p<0.05) but apparent metabolizable energy (AME) and utilization of other nutrients decreased in SOL2 and SL group from 19 to 21 d. No significant effects were observed in apparent metabolizable energy, dry matter, crude protein and ether extract but the utilization of calcium and phosphorus was significantly improved in SL group (p<0.05) during 39 to 42 d. The birds fed with lecithin had lower serum total cholesterol and triglyceride than the control group (SO). Broilers fed with 2% lecithin (SL) had the highest insulin level (p<0.05). The results implied that soy-lecithin and soy-oil in a proportion of 25:75 had the highest growth performance and that soy-lecithin had cholesterol lowering capacity.

Supercritical water oxidation (SCWO) of penicillin (PCN) was investigated under different operating conditions. The chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal rate could reach 99.4% at 400 oC, 24MPa, 1min and oxidation coefficient (OC) of 2. Experimental results showed that COD removal had no significant dependence on temperature and pressure variations. By contrast, COD removal could be significantly promoted with OC increasing from 0 to 2.0, but the effect was negligible as the OC further increased; similarly, longer residence time than a definite value seemed to contribute little to COD removal. Initial and deeper degradation pathways of penicillin were proposed based on the reactive force field (ReaxFF) molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. By tracing the evolution of intermediates, the migration routes of S and N during the SCWO process were obtained with H2S and NO2 produced as the corresponding products. Simulation results showed that SCW and oxidant not only accelerated the degradation by producing highly reactive radicals or molecules, but also participated in reactions by serving as H and O sources. Moreover, catalysis of water clusters in C-heteroatom bond cleavage was also observed.

Preeclampsia is a pregnancy-specific disorder that is a major cause of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality with a prevalence of 6–8% of pregnancies. Although impaired trophoblast invasion in early pregnancy is known to be closely associated with preeclampsia, the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Here we revealed that lysyl oxidase (LOX) and LOX-like protein 2 (LOXL2) play a critical role in preeclampsia. Our results demonstrated that LOX and LOXL2 expression decreased in preeclamptic placentas. Moreover, knockdown of LOX or LOXL2 suppressed trophoblast cell migration and invasion. Mechanistically, collagen production was induced in LOX- or LOXL2-downregulated trophoblast cells through activation of the TGF-β1/Smad3 pathway. Notably, inhibition of the TGF-β1/Smad3 pathway could rescue the defects caused by LOX or LOXL2 knockdown, thereby underlining the significance of the TGF-β1/ Smad3 pathway downstream of LOX and LOXL2 in trophoblast cells. Additionally, induced collagen production and activated TGF-β1/Smad3 were observed in clinical samples from preeclamptic placentas. Collectively, our study suggests that the downregulation of LOX and LOXL2 leading to reduced trophoblast cell migration and invasion through activation of the TGF-β1/Smad3/collagen pathway is relevant to preeclampsia. Thus, we proposed that LOX, LOXL2, and the TGF-β1/Smad3/collagen pathway can serve as potential markers and targets for clinical diagnosis and therapy for preeclampsia.

This work used a simple electrochemical reduction method to secondary construct the reduced nickel base (rNi Base) on nickel foam with a nano-core structure. The secondarily constructed base has a large specific surface area, which can increase the mass utilization of the active material. The rNi Base was used as a base for the reduction of nickel on Na+, K+, and NH+4, respectively. MnO2 was electrodeposited under three different cation pre-intercalation treatments, and the mechanism of the effect of different monovalent cations to guide the growth of MnO2 materials was investigated. Finally, rNi/MnO2&Na+ electrode with a special nano cauliflower structure was obtained. The special nanostructure of the electrode enhances its electrochemical performance, possessing 598 F g− 1 ultra-high specific capacitance at a current density of 1 A g− 1 and a high specific capacitance of 307.5 F g− 1 at a high current density of 20 A g− 1, and high specific capacitance maintenance rate of 92.7% after 500 cycles of charging and discharging at a current density of 2 A g− 1. In addition, the symmetrical supercapacitor assembled with this electrode has a very high specific capacitance (401.1 F g− 1 at a current density of 1 A g− 1) and energy density (80.22Wh kg− 1 at a power density of 599.99 W kg− 1).
