        대학 교양영어 교육에서 영어 드라마를 활용한 블렌디드 교수·학습 모형의 개발과 적용

        지방대학의 교양영어 프로그램에서는 학생들의 영어 학습에 대한 정의적 동기유발을 위해서 다양한 시도가 이루어지는데 그중의 하나가 온·오프 블렌디드 러닝 수업이다. 본 연구에서는 대학 교양영어에서 실용영어 능력을 향상시키는 방안으로 그동안 비교적 많은 연구가 이루어진 블렌디드 러닝에 영어 드라마를 실어서 교양영어교육의 목적을 실현하고자 한다. 이를 위해서 우선 맡은 학생들의 요구조사를 바탕으로 ‘Kim’s Convenience’라는 영어 드라마를 활용한 오프라인 중심의 블렌디드 러닝 수업모형을 제안하였다. 한 학기 동안 적용한 결과 모형의 듣기·말하기의 통합적 효과와 정의적 영역에서 영어에 대한 흥미도의 향상과 불안감의 해소에 통계적으로 유의한 효과가 있었다. 학생들의 제안된 모형에서 이루어진 여러 가지 수업활동 중에서 흥미도에서는 드라마 시청 활동, 효용성에서는 드라마 시청 전 언어 수업이, 이해도에서는 역할극 시연 활동이 가장 많은 도움이 되는 것으로 나타났다. General English programs in provincial colleges attempt to implement different programs to motivate students in English. One such an attempt is an on/off-blended learning class. This paper in the same vein designed a blended learning model using English drama to enhance practical English proficiency of college students in the general English program. To this end, Kim’s Convenience and off-line based blended learning model was developed as the experimental model based on the needs analysis of the participating students. After a semester of application of the model, it is noted that students’ listening and speaking integrated proficiency was significantly raised along with the increase of interest in English and the reduction of anxiety in English. In the students’ evaluation of learning activities in the model, the drama watching activity was attributed most high to the enhanced interest in English, the off-line language lesson in the pre-watching stage was most helpful to their English learning using the drama, and finally the enactment of the role-play was most responsible for their understanding the English drama.

        Objective: Occupational medicine specialists in the Busan, Ulsan and Kyung-Nam areas established an area-based occupational disease surveillance system and used this system to collected case information for the purpose of preventing occupational diseases Methods: l l hospital participated in this system. The authors selected five main diseases, which were hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS), work-related musculoskeletal disorder (WRMSD), occupational asthma, occupational skin disease and occupational and occupational lung cancer and established their case definitions. All cases were reported on the web, and real time analysis was conducted. Results: Between April 2001 and April 2003, 192 cases of HAVS, 118 cases of WRMSD, 33 cases of occupational asthma, 17 cases of occupational skin disease and 17 cases of occupational lung cancer (for a total of 377 cases of these five main diseases) were reported. most of the HAVS cases came from shipbuilding, and 172 of them (92.7%) were associated with grinding. Of the four main types of WRMSD, carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) was the most prevalent with 46 cases and shipbuilding was also the main industry involved (83.9%). The ergonomic risk factors involved mainly associated with the hand. In 19 (57.6%) and 4 (12.1%) cases of occupational asthma, the agents involved. The causative agents of occupational lung cancer included Cr, welding fume, PAH, Ni, etc. 10(58.8%) of the cases were diagnosed as squamous cell carcinoma and 5(29.4%) as adenoma. Conclusion: This result showed that an area-based occupational disease surveillance system might provide an effective method of evaluating the prevalence of such diseases, however the Busan, Ulsan and Kyung-Nam provinces are too large to be treated as individual areas. Therefore, the authors suggest that each province should establish its own surveillance system.

        Prevalence, natural progression, and clinical practices of upper gastrointestinal subepithelial lesions in Korea: a multicenter study

        Background/Aims: This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence and natural progression of subepithelial lesions (SELs) in the uppergastrointestinal (UGI) tract. Methods: The medical records of patients with UGI SELs who underwent endoscopic screening at eight university hospitals betweenJanuary and December 2010 were retrospectively investigated. The follow-up evaluations were performed until December 2016. Results: UGI SELs were found in 1,044 of the 65,233 participants screened (endoscopic prevalence, 1.60%; the total number of lesions,1,062; mean age, 55.1±11.2 years; men, 53.6%). The median follow-up period was 48 (range, 8–74) months. SELs were most frequentlyfound in the stomach (63.8%) and had a mean size of 9.9±6.1 mm. Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) was performed in 293 patients(28.1%). The most common lesions were leiomyomas, followed by gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), and ectopic pancreas. The pro-portions of SELs with malignant potential according to size were 3% (<1 cm), 22% (1–2 cm), 27% (2–3 cm), and 38% (≥3 cm). In gastricSELs larger than 1 cm, resections were performed in 20 patients because of an increase in size, of which 12 were found to be GISTs. Conclusions: The prevalence of UGI SELs was 1.60%. Further, 23% of gastric SELs ≥1 cm were precancerous lesions, most followed byEUS and clinical decisions without initial pathological confirmation.

        Nomogram prediction of survival in patients with brain metastases from hepatocellular carcinoma treated with whole-brain radiotherapy: a multicenter retrospective study.

        <P>The incidence of brain metastasis from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is increasing because of the improved survival outcome of HCC patients, but the prognosis of these patients is extremely poor. HCC patients with brain metastasis were investigated to identify their prognostic factors for overall survival. Patients with brain metastasis from HCC who had been treated with whole-brain radiotherapy (WBRT) in five hospitals were enrolled in the study. The medical records of the patients were reviewed, and the clinical factors were analyzed to identify the prognostic factors for overall survival. Of the total of 97 patients who were enrolled in the study, 83 were male and the median age at the brain metastases was 56.6??years. Motor weakness (43.3??%) and headache (41.2??%) were common presenting symptoms. The median AFP level was 4180??ng/ml, and 81 patients were assessed as belonging to Child-Pugh classification A upon the diagnosis of brain metastasis. WBRT alone in 71 patients, surgery or radiosurgery combined with WBRT as the adjuvant setting in 18 patients, and WBRT as salvage treatment in 8 patients were performed. The median overall survival of the patients was 3.5??months. In the multivariate analysis, the ECOG performance status (PS), Child-Pugh classification, AFP, and treatment aim showed significant association with the overall survival of the patients. Based on these factors, a nomogram predicting the prognosis was developed. The concordance index of the nomogram was 0.74, and the prediction was well calibrated. In conclusion, the survival outcome of patients with brain metastasis from HCC can be predicted with the nomogram constructed from the ECOG PS, Child-Pugh classification, AFP, and treatment aim.</P>

        김수영 시의 알레고리 연구 시어의 다의성과 발화의 비인과성을 중심으로

        이 논문에서는 김수영 시의 난해한 문장 속에 담겨 있는 당대의 현실과 인간과 역사에 대한 통찰을 알레고리를 통해 살펴보고자 하였다. 김수영에게 난해성이란 사물과 현상을 정확하게 인식하고 표현하는 방법론의 일종이지만 그 `정확한` 것이란 `알레고리 작가`인 김수영에게서 줄곤 `미지의` 것으로 탄생한다. 의미나 이미지의 측면에서 드러나는 혼돈의 영역, 이를테면 애매성과 다의성을 지닌 단어나 문장, 계통 없는 발화와 비인과적인 구조는 역사적 사실 내용을 전제로 하는 것이며 현실에 대한 정확한 인식을 토대로 하는 것이었다. 이 글에서는 우선, 김수영 시의 알레고리의 특성을 말의 난해성이 생산되는 원리의 차원에서, 즉 표현된 것과 의미하는 것 사이의 간극, 형상과 의미의 불일치를 통해 살펴보았다. 김수영은 대상을 본래의 연관성으로부터 분리시켜 새로운 문맥 속에 배치하거나 이질적인 대상과 결합시킴으로서 사물에 새로운 의미를 부여한다. 또한 김수영의 문장은 그 안에 복합적인 의미를 중층적으로 담아냄으로써 표면과 이면이 서로 다른 의미를 지시하는 언어의 아이러니를 실현하는 한편 단일한 의미에 저항하는 해석의 이율배반을 초해하기도 한다. 다음으로 김수영 시의 난해성의 양상을 세부들의 파편적인 집적과 발화의 비인과성이라는 알레고리의 원리를 통해 살펴보았다. 세세하고 사소한 것의 나열, 계통 없는 발화방식이 의미생성을 방해하고 의미화를 지연시키는 것은 당연하다. 하지만 역설적이게도 세부들과 파편성과 불확정적인 의미는 그 무엇보다도 정확하게 김수영이 살았던 시대의 역사적 경험과 역사의 이미지를 표현해준다. This paper aimed to examine the insight into the reality of the time, human, and history contained in abstruse sentences of Kim Soo-young`s Poetry through the allegory. Even though the abstruseness is a type of methodology accurately recognizing and expressing objects and phenomenons to Kim Soo-young, something `accurate` is always created as something `unknown` by Kim Soo-young, as an allegory author. The ambiguity or area of chaos shown in the aspect of meaning or image, such as words or sentences with ambiguity and polysemy, utterance without lineage, and non-causal structure is based on the historical facts and the accurate understanding of the reality. First, this paper examined the characteristics of allegory of Kim Soo-young`s Poetry in the aspect of principles producing the abstruseness of words through the gap between something expressed and meaning, and discordance between shape and meaning. Next, it understood the aspect of abstruseness of Kim Soo-young`s Poetry through principles of allegory such as fragmented accumulation and non-causality of utterance.

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted on chromosome 10 (PTEN) expressed in <I>Saccharomyces cerevisiae</I> was reversibly oxidized by hydrogen peroxide and reduced by cellular reductants. Reduction of hPTEN was delayed in each of <I>S. cerevisiae</I> gsh1Δ and gsh2Δ mutants. Expression of γ-glutamylcysteine synthetase Gsh1 in the gsh1Δ mutant rescued regeneration rate of hPTEN. Oxidized hPTEN was reduced by glutathione in a concentration- and time-dependent manner. Glutathionylated PTEN was detected. Incubation of 293T cells with BSO and knockdown expression of GCLc in HeLa cells by siRNA resulted in the delay of reduction of oxidized PTEN. Also, in HeLa cells transfected with GCLc siRNA, stimulation with epidermal growth factor resulted in the increase of oxidized PTEN and phosphorylation of Akt. These results suggest that the reduction of oxidized hPTEN is mediated by glutathione.</P>

        Characterization of Flavonoid 7-<i>O</i>-Glucosyltransferase from <i>Arabidopsis thaliana</i>

        <P>Most flavonoids found in plants exist as glycosides, and glycosylation status has a wide range of effects on flavonoid solubility, stability, and bioavailability. Glycosylation of flavonoids is mediated by Family 1 glycosyltransferases (UGTs), which use UDP-sugars, such as UDP-glucose, as the glycosyl donor. <I>AtGT-2</I>, a UGT from <I>Arabidopsis thaliana</I>, was cloned and expressed in <I>Escherichia coli</I> as a gluthatione <I>S</I>-transferase fusion protein. Several compounds, including flavonoids, were tested as potential substrates. HPLC analysis of the reaction products indicated that AtGT-2 transfers a glucose molecule into several different kinds of flavonoids, eriodictyol being the most effective substrate, followed by luteolin, kaempferol, and quercetin. Based on comparison of HPLC retention times with authentic flavonoid 7-<I>O</I>-glucosides and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, the glycosylation position in the reacted flavonoids was determined to be the C-7 hydroxyl group. These results indicate that <I>AtGT-2</I> encodes a flavonoid 7-<I>O</I>-glucosyltransferase.</P>

        <P>The skin sensitizer 2,4-dinitrofluorobenzene (DNFB) provokes delayed hypersensitivity responses as a result of topical application to the skin. Here, we demonstrate that DNFB modifies proteins in RAW 264.7 cells and skin tissues in NC/Nga mice; we also show the functional involvement of DNFB-induced modification of cellular proteins in the DNFB-induced macrophage inflammatory protein (MIP)-2 gene expression in RAW 264.7 cells. In addition, we demonstrate that DNFB strongly induces reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. Our RT-PCR analysis and reporter gene assays reveal that the DNFB-induced intracellular ROS production is necessary for MIP-2 gene expression by DNFB. We observed that the vitamin C and chemical oxidant scavenger N-acetyl-cysteine have an inhibitory effect on the generation of ROS, the activation of MAP kinase pathways, and the MIP-2 gene expression in DNFB-treated RAW 264.7 cells. These results provide insight into the mechanisms involved in DNFB-induced contact hypersensitivity.</P>
