가와사끼병에서 면역글로불린 사용 후 ASO 수치의 변동에 관한 고찰

Objective : Since Kawasaki disease was first described in 1967, the cause and prognostic factors have not been known despite many researches and efforts. The introduction of high-dose intravenous gamma-globulin (IVGG) was an epoch and IVGG is now a standard therapy. But the mode of action of IVGG in reducing inflammatory response is not clearly understood. Understanding of the mechanism should supply the clues that indicate the cause, prognosis, the better treatment of this disease. At present, the correlation of CRP, ESR and change of leukocyte numbers to Kawasaki diseases were known, but the correlation studies of ASO titers are rare. To discover this, we evaluated the interrelationship between the ASO titer and IVGG therapy. Methods and Materials : The subjects included 35 patients with Kawasaki disease who were treated by IVGG at department of pediatrics, Inje university, Busan Paik hospital from June, 2004 to December, 2005. Before and after IVGG administration, ASO titers were evaluated. Results: In the 32 among 35 patients, ASO titers checked before IVGG administration were increased prominently after IVGG therapy. Conclusion : Remarkably increased ASO titers after IVGG administration for the treatment of Kawasaki diseases were found. And changes of ASO titers seem to be due to immunoglobulin instead of streptococcal infection. Further studies will be necessary to clarify the pathogenic mechanisms of increased ASO titers.
한국 성인을 대상으로 한 전산화 Standard Progressive Matrices의 표준화 예비연구

연구목적 : 전산화 Standard Progressive Matrices(SPM) 검사의 한국인 성인 표준자료를 확립함으로써, 간이로 지능을 평가하는 경우에도 보다 정확하게 지능지수를 추정하기 위해서 본 연구를 수행하였다. 방 법 : 18세 이상의 남녀 정상인 자원자 353명을 대상으로 전산화 SPM 검사를 시행하고, 백분율 및 표준점수(T-점수)를 기준으로 하여 표준화 자료를 작성하였다. 전체 대상군을 성별, 연령별로 구분한 후 평균과·분포가 유사한 집단은 군을 합치는 방법을 사용하였다. 한국인 표준자료에 근거하여 추정한 SPM 지능지수와 외국인 표준자료에 근거하여 추정한 SPM 지능지수를 각각 KWAIS 지능지수와 비교함으로써 타당도를 검증하였다. 결 과 : 18∼30세, 31∼40세, 41∼50세, 51세 이상의 연령군으로 구분된 한국 정상 성인의 SPM 표준화 자료를 산출하였다. 본 연구 결과에 의한 표준화 자료를 적용하여 지능지수를 추정하는 것이 현재 사용하고 있는 외국인의 표준화 자료를 이용하는 것보다 KWAIS 지능지수에 더욱 근접한 결과를 보였다. 결 론 : 18세에서 50세까지의 한국인 남녀에게는 간이지능평가도구로서 전산화 SPM 검사의 한국인 표준화 자료를 유용하고 타당하게 적용할 수 있음을 확인하였다. Objectives : We conducted this study to provide standardized data of the computerized Standard Progressive Matrices(SPM) test in Korean adults. Methods : The computerized SPM test was administered to 353 healthy volunteers aged 18 years over. We provided the standardized data(percentile and standardized T-scores) for the groups with similar mean and distribution of SPM scores, which was originally divided by age and sex. The validity of the new standardized data was tested by comparing IQs estimated by SPM and K-WAIS. Results : The standardized SPM data were provided for four age groups : 18 to 30 years, 31 to 40 years, 41 to 50 years, 51 years and over. IQ estimated by this standardized data tends to be closer to IQ by K-WAIS than the IQ estimated by foreign normative data. Conclusion : The standardized data of the computerized SPM were proven to be a useful and valid tool for measuring IQ briefly, compared with the conventional way of measuring IQ.

Background: Recently, there has been a call to improve the holistic welfare of dependent contractors (DCs). Thus, our study examined the relationship between DCs and mental health symptoms and how this relationship was modified by age, sex, and income status of workers. Methods: A total of 27,980 workers from the Fifth Korean Working Conditions Survey are included in our study. The participants who reported having depression or anxiety over the last 12 months are defined those who had mental health symptoms. We performed exact matching for age group and sex, followed by conditional logistic regression with survey weights. Finally, stratified analyses by age, sex and income level were conducted. Results: DCs were found to be at increased risk of depression/anxiety compared to other workers. The odds ratio (OR) is 1.52 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.06–2.17). In the stratified analyses, vulnerable groups were middle-aged (OR [95% CI]: 1.68 [1.10–2.54]), female (OR [95% CI]: 1.85 [1.20–2.84]), and low-income (OR [95% CI]: 3.18 [1.77–5.73]) workers. Conclusions: Our study’s results reinforce those of other studies that show that DCs are at greater risk of experiencing mental health issues than other workers and that and this risk is greater for middle-aged, female, and low-income workers. These results suggest that appropriate policy efforts should be made to improve the psychological well-being of DCs.

Cecropin is an antimicrobial peptide that is synthesized in fat body cells and hemocytes of insect in response to a hypodermic injury or bacterial infection. A 503 bp cDNA encoding a cecropin-like antimicrobial peptide was isolated by employing annealing control primer (ACP)-based differential display PCR and 5'-RACE from immunized Papilio xuthus larvae. The open reading frame (ORF) of isolated cDNA encoded a 63 amino acid prepropeptide with a putative 22-residue signal peptide, a 3-residue propeptide and a 38-residue mature peptide with a theoretical mass of 4060.89 Da. The deduced amino acid sequence of peptide showed significant identities with other Lepidopteran cecropins. This peptide was named as papiliocin. RT-PCR revealed that the papiliocin transcript was detected at significant level after injection with bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Based on the deduced amino acid sequence of papiliocin, a 38-mer mature peptide was chemically synthesized by Fmoc method, and analyzed antimicrobial activity. The synthetic papiliocin peptide had a broad spectrum of activity against fungi, Gram-positive and negative bacteria, and also showed no hemolytic activity against human red blood cell.

Background: Bovine amniotic membrane (BAM) accelerates epithelization, and have anti-inflammatory, anti-angiogenic and strong analgesic effects. Objectives: To evaluate the clinical effects of BAM on wound by ablative laser treatments and compare the clinical effect of BAM on wound with that of hydrocolloid dressing. Methods: Forty-nine subjects with nevi or scars requiring ablative laser treatment were enrolled. For comparing the efficacy, we divided the body into several areas such as face, neck, trunk, upper extremity and lower extremity and included the patients with two or more same skin lesions in the same area of the body. After ablative laser treatments, BAM and hydrocolloid dressing were applied to wound. Objective and subjective assessment were done at baseline, 1, 4, 6, 8, 11, 13 days after treatment. Histologic change was assessed by skin biopsy. Results: The site treated by BAM showed shorter epithelization time than hydrocolloid site (6.7 Vs 9.2 days). Epithelialization was confirmed by skin biopsy. Erythema and oozing at BAM-treated site after laser treatment faded away more quickly than those at hydrocolloid-treated site. Satisfaction score of BAM treatment was higher than that of hydrocolloid treatment. No adverse effects other than mild pruritus were observed. Immunohistochemistry revealed different growth factor profile between two treatment modalities. Conclusion: BAM could make benefits on wound by ablative laser treatment compared with hydrocolloid dressing.

For the purposes of this paper, stress may be defined as any modification of environmental parameters that leads to a response by biological organisms. Stresses that affect biological structures may be non-thermal, such as ultraviolet radiation, pH, or salinity, or thermal. Temperature is one of the major stresses that all living organism face. The major effects of cold shock are decrease of membrane fluidity and the stabilization of secondary structures of RNA and DNA in the cells, which may effect the efficiency of translation, transcription, and DNA replication. In this study in compliance with the cold temperature stress about selection of the useful gene is contents from the silkworm which is been revealed. The survival rate which is caused by with the cold temperature stress until 12 hours was 100% in 0℃, until 2 hours was 100% in -5℃. A total of 960 clones were randomly selected from the subtraction cDNA library, and then performed a differential display hybridization analysis with forward and reverse probes. In conclusion, selected 53 partial clones and novel 2 full-length clones were identified as differential expressed genes. We assumed that the novel gene related with transmembrane.
증례 : 신종플루 백신 접종 후 발생한 전신성 홍반성 루푸스 1예

저자들은 기존 병력이 없던 17세 여자 환자가 신종플루 백신 접종 후 루푸스가 발생하여 치료 후 호전된 첫 증례를 경험하여 보고하는 바이다. The recent worldwide outbreak of H1N1 has led to the universal administration of H1N1 influenza vaccination, including in South Korea. Several complications have been reported with use of H1N1 influenza vaccine, but systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) has not been reported as a complication until now. Here, we report a case of SLE occurrence after H1N1 influenza vaccination. A 17-year-old girl who had not been diagnosed with SLE was hospitalized with fever, myalgia, and arthralgia after H1N1 influenza vaccination. Laboratory tests revealed increased levels of antinuclear antibody and anti-ds-DNA antibody, and decreased levels of C3 and C4 as well as proteinuria. The pathological findings confirmed a diagnosis of lupus nephritis. The patient was treated with high-dose corticosteroid and hydroxychloroquine. This is the first report of SLE following H1N1 influenza vaccination in South Korea. (Korean J Med 2013;84:295-298)
