Novel NiCo2Se4/Mn0.5Cd0.5S photocatalyst for visible light-driven hydrogen evolution

        Liu Chao,Zhang Feng-Jun,Wang Ying-Rui,Xie Wen-Jie,Ma Jie,Oh Won-Chun 한국세라믹학회 2023 한국세라믹학회지 Vol.60 No.4

The development of efficient and stable photocatalysts is one of the most important research directions to realize the practical application of photocatalytic hydrogen evolution. A series of novel visible light responsive NiCo 2Se4/Mn0.5Cd0.5S composites with different NiCo 2Se4 contents were prepared by hydrothermal method. The composites were characterized using different characterization techniques such as XRD, SEM, TEM, XPS, UV–Vis DRS, PL, and photoelectrochemistry. Photocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction was also performed using visible light (λ > 420 nm) in an aqueous solution containing Na 2S·9H2O and Na 2SO3 as sacrificial reagents. The 4% NiCo 2Se4/ Mn 0.5Cd0.5S composites exhibited the highest photocatalytic hydrogen evolution capacity, producing 20 mmol  h −1  g−1 of hydrogen, higher than pure Mn0.5Cd0.50.5S (12.2mmol h-1g-1). The tight bonding of the two materials in the NiCo 2Se4/Mn0.5Cd0.5S composites may enhance the photocatalytic activity to some extent. The possible mechanism was suggested by UV–Vis DRS and photoelectrochemical measurements. The obtained NiCo 2Se4/ Mn0.5Cd0.5S composites have excellent photocatalytic activity and good stability in photocatalytic hydrogen evolution, and have potential applications in the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution from water using solar energy.

Modified nonlinear force density method for form-finding of membrane SAR antenna

        Rui Xu,DongXu Li,Wang Liu,JianPing Jiang,YiHuan Liao,Jie Wang 국제구조공학회 2015 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.54 No.6

Form-finding for cable-membrane structures is a delicate operation. During the last decades, the force density method (FDM) was considered to be an efficient method to address the problem. Many researchers were devoted to improving this method and proposed many methods such as natural force density method (NFDM), improved nonlinear force density method (INFDM), et al. In this paper, a modified nonlinear force density method (MNFDM) is proposed. In this method, the stresses of membrane elements were transformed to the force-densities of cable nets by an equivalent relationship, and then they can be used as initial conditions. By comparing with the forming finding results by using the FDM, NFDM, INFDM and MNFDM, it had demonstrated that the MNFDM presented in this paper is the most efficient and precise.

Inhibitory effect of StCYP707A1 gene on tuberization in transgenic potato

        Lu Liu,Rui-Jie Zhang,Wen-jiao Zhu,Xin-Ru Liu,Ke Shi,Min Chen,Qing Yang 한국식물생명공학회 2017 Plant biotechnology reports Vol.11 No.4

Tuber formation of potato is a complex biological process and is regulated by many factors including phytochrome, hormones, transcription factors, RNAs, microRNAs, etc. In our previous study, CYP707A1, an ABA 80-hydroxylase gene, was down-regulated in the StCOL antisense transgenic potato stolons, but its relation with potato tuberization has not been studied yet. In this study, to investigate the role of this gene in potato tuberization, we cloned a CYP707A1 gene from potato cultivar De ´sire ´e and constructed the StCYP707A1 over-expression and anti-sense potato lines by Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. In total, four over-expression transgenic lines and nine anti-sense transgenic lines were confirmed by PCR analysis. Semi-quantitative RT-PCR and qRTPCR analysis showed that the level of StCYP707A1 transcripts was significantly higher in the over-expression lines (A7 and A9) and lower in the anti-sense lines (F2 and F8), compared to the wild-type control. We further analyzed tuber formation in the transgenic lines and the wild-type control. The result showed that tuber yield per plant and average tuber weight were decreased in A7 and A9 and increased in F2. We also measured the content of ABA and GA3 in transgenic lines. ABA level was reduced in A7 and A9 and increased in F2. Contrariwise, the concentration of GA3 was higher in A7 and A9, and lower in F2 than in wild-type control. These results indicate that StCYP707A1 negatively affects potato tuberization through ABA regulation on gibberellic acid concentration.

Novel HMW glutenin genes from Aegilops tauschii and their unique structures

        Wen-Jie Chen,Zhong-Wei Yuan,Lian-Quan Zhang,Xing Fan,Ze-Hong Yan,Ji-Rui Wang,You-Liang Zheng,Huai-Gang Zhang,Deng-Cai Liu 한국유전학회 2012 Genes & Genomics Vol.34 No.3

A pair of novel high-molecular-weight glutenin subunits (HMW-GS) 1Dx5.3t and 1Dy12.1**t were revealed and characterized from Ae. tauschii accession PI554324. SDS-PAGE band of 1Dx5.3t was between those of 1Bx6 and 1Bx7, while 1Dy12.1**t with slightly faster migration rate than that of 1Dy12. The lengths of 1Dx5.3t and 1Dy12.1**t were 2115 bp and 1986 bp, encoding 703 and 660 amino acid residues, respectively. Their authenticity was confirmed by successful expression of the coding regions in Escherichia coli. 1Dx5.3t is the shortest of the known Dx-type alleles. 1Dy12.1**t is also a special subunit since it has an additional cysteine in the front of the central repetitive domain. This cysteine that is not existed in previously reported Dy-type genes may be useful for improving bread wheat quality. Median-joining Network analysis indicated that 1Dy12.1**t may be a key site in the genealogy of the Glu-Dy.

Molecular characterization of the sans fille gene in Antheraea pernyi: A highly conserved gene during the evolution of animals

        Ya-Jie Li,Rui Mi,Nan Meng,Zhi-Xin Wen,Xue-Jun Li,Mo Chen,Yan-Qun Liu,Shu-Ying Li 한국응용곤충학회 2013 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.16 No.3

Sans-fille (SNF) is the Drosophila homologue ofmammalian general splicing factors U1A and U2B″, and plays an important role in sex determination in Drosophilamelanogaster. In this study, the snf gene fromAntheraea pernyi (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae), an economically important insect, was isolated and characterized. The obtained 925 bp cDNA sequence contains an open reading frame of 669 bp encoding a polypeptide of 222 amino acids, showing 78% sequence identity to that from D. melanogaster. A database search revealed that SNF protein homologs are present in many animals, including invertebrates and vertebrates, with more than 70% amino acid sequence identities, suggesting that they were highly conserved during the evolution of animals. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that A. pernyi SNF was closely related to Bombyx mori SNF. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis showed that the A. pernyi snf gene was transcribed during five larval developmental stages, and in six tested tissues (ovaries, testes, silk glands, fat body, integument, and hemolymph),with the most abundance determined in the gonads (ovaries or testes). Investigation of expression changes throughout embryonic development indicated that A. pernyi snfmRNAwas expressed at a lowlevel fromdays 0 to 4, and reached amaximum level at day 10, but decreased to a low level before hatching. These results suggest that the product of the snf gene may play important roles in the development of A. pernyi.

Single-cell RNA sequencing reveals B cell–related molecular biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease

        Xiong Liu-Lin,Xue Lu-Lu,Du Ruo-Lan,Niu Rui-Ze,Chen Li,Chen Jie,Hu Qiao,Tan Ya-Xin,Shang Hui-Fang,Liu Jia,Yu Chang-Yin,Wang Ting-Hua 생화학분자생물학회 2021 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.53 No.-

In recent years, biomarkers have been integrated into the diagnostic process and have become increasingly indispensable for obtaining knowledge of the neurodegenerative processes in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) in human blood have been reported to participate in a variety of neurodegenerative activities. Here, a single-cell RNA sequencing analysis of PBMCs from 4 AD patients (2 in the early stage, 2 in the late stage) and 2 normal controls was performed to explore the differential cell subpopulations in PBMCs of AD patients. A significant decrease in B cells was detected in the blood of AD patients. Furthermore, we further examined PBMCs from 43 AD patients and 41 normal subjects by fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS), and combined with correlation analysis, we found that the reduction in B cells was closely correlated with the patients’ Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) scores. To confirm the role of B cells in AD progression, functional experiments were performed in early-stage AD mice in which fibrous plaques were beginning to appear; the results demonstrated that B cell depletion in the early stage of AD markedly accelerated and aggravated cognitive dysfunction and augmented the Aβ burden in AD mice. Importantly, the experiments revealed 18 genes that were specifically upregulated and 7 genes that were specifically downregulated in B cells as the disease progressed, and several of these genes exhibited close correlation with AD. These findings identified possible B cell-based AD severity, which are anticipated to be conducive to the clinical identification of AD progression.

Combined Use of Automatic Tube Voltage Selection and Current Modulation with Iterative Reconstruction for CT Evaluation of Small Hypervascular Hepatocellular Carcinomas: Effect on Lesion Conspicuity and Image Quality

        Peijie Lv,Jie Liu,Rui Zhang,Yan Jia,Jianbo Gao 대한영상의학회 2015 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.16 No.3

To assess the lesion conspicuity and image quality in CT evaluation of small (≤ 3 cm) hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs) using automatic tube voltage selection (ATVS) and automatic tube current modulation (ATCM) with or without iterative reconstruction. One hundred and five patients with 123 HCC lesions were included. Fifty-seven patients were scanned using both ATVS and ATCM and images were reconstructed using either filtered back-projection (FBP) (group A1) or sinogram-affirmed iterative reconstruction (SAFIRE) (group A2). Forty-eight patients were imaged using only ATCM, with a fixed tube potential of 120 kVp and FBP reconstruction (group B). Quantitative parameters (image noise in Hounsfield unit and contrast-to-noise ratio of the aorta, the liver, and the hepatic tumors) and qualitative visual parameters (image noise, overall image quality, and lesion conspicuity as graded on a 5-point scale) were compared among the groups. Group A2 scanned with the automatically chosen 80 kVp and 100 kVp tube voltages ranked the best in lesion conspicuity and subjective and objective image quality (p values ranging from < 0.001 to 0.004) among the three groups, except for overall image quality between group A2 and group B (p = 0.022). Group A1 showed higher image noise (p = 0.005) but similar lesion conspicuity and overall image quality as compared with group B. The radiation dose in group A was 19% lower than that in group B (p = 0.022). CT scanning with combined use of ATVS and ATCM and image reconstruction with SAFIRE algorithm provides higher lesion conspicuity and better image quality for evaluating small hepatic HCCs with radiation dose reduction.

        Zhangzhong Wu,Rui Liu,Pan Zheng,Shi-jie Wei 아시아건강운동학회 2023 Journal of Asian Society for Health & Exercise Vol.5 No.1

By using literature data and dialectical analysis methods, this paper elaborates on the value and path of promoting students physical and moral education through the personality of a gentleman in the perspective of core literacy. The value reflected is that the physical and moral character of sports, characterized by love, aspiration, faith, and righteousness, inherits and develops the gentleman personality centered on the traits of benevolence, righteousness, courtesy, wisdom, faithfulness, loyalty, courage, self-improvement, harmony without uniformity, and cultural refinement in a way that is complementary, mutually reinforcing, and mutually educating, embodying the coexistence of civilized spirit and savage physique, and practicing the development concept of integrating sports and education. It is a manifestation of the transformation from preaching morality to incarnating morality, the implementation of the goal of moral education, and the integration of traditional culture and sports spirit, which enhances the humanistic quality of sports disciplines. In the process of promoting the integration of the personality of a gentleman and the physical and moral character of sports, attention should be paid to guiding the demonstration from verbal teaching to setting an example through personal conduct, highlighting the radiating value from respecting the small to knowing the big, and emphasizing the overall practice from in-class to out-of-class, in order to guide students to demonstrate both their sportsmanship and their moral integrity, and to truly achieve the coexistence and development of savage physique and civilized spirit.
