Performance-oriented State-feedback Controller Parameter Tuning with Guardian Maps

        Wen-han Dong,Ya-yun Yan,Wu-jie Xie,Ri Liu 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2016 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.14 No.3

A novel method of controller parameter tuning is proposed, based on the guardian maps stability theory. The tuning sequence could be divided into three steps: first, make sure the appropriate region in the complex planein order to achieve the desired performance. Then, calculate the guardian function with guardian maps techniques. Finally, let the guardian function equal to zero, and find the parameters tuning space by solving the equation. Besides, if the controller parameters are selected, we can make sure the allowable perturbation range of the plantparameters is determined. It can be shown that our new performance-oriented scheme is convenient and practical, and also it is suitable for solving the controller parameter tuning problems of various plants with most of the classicalcontrol methods.

The role of ginsenoside Rb1, a potential natural glutathione reductase agonist, in preventing oxidative stress-induced apoptosis of H9C2 cells

        Hui-Jie Fan,Zhang-Bin Tan,Yu-Ting Wu,Xiao-Reng Feng,Yi-Ming Bi,Ling-Peng Xie,Wen-Tong Zhang,Zhi Ming,Bin Liu,Ying-Chun Zhou 고려인삼학회 2020 Journal of Ginseng Research Vol.44 No.2

Background: Oxidative stress-induced cardiomyocytes apoptosis is a key pathological process inischemic heart disease. Glutathione reductase (GR) reduces glutathione disulfide to glutathione (GSH) toalleviate oxidative stress. Ginsenoside Rb1 (GRb1) prevents the apoptosis of cardiomyocytes; however, the role of GR in this process is unclear. Therefore, the effects of GRb1 on GR were investigated in thisstudy. Methods: The antiapoptotic effects of GRb1 were evaluated in H9C2 cells by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide, annexin V/propidium iodide staining, and Western blotting. Theantioxidative effects were measured by a reactive oxygen species assay, and GSH levels and GR activitywere examined in the presence and absence of the GR inhibitor 1,3-bis-(2-chloroethyl)-1-nitrosourea. Molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations were used to investigate the binding of GRb1 toGR. The direct influence of GRb1 on GR was confirmed by recombinant human GR protein. Results: GRb1 pretreatment caused dose-dependent inhibition of tert-butyl hydroperoxide-induced cellapoptosis, at a level comparable to that of the positive control N-acetyl-L-cysteine. The binding energybetween GRb1 and GR was positive ( 6.426 kcal/mol), and the binding was stable. GRb1 significantlyreduced reactive oxygen species production and increased GSH level and GR activity without altering GRprotein expression in H9C2 cells. Moreover, GRb1 enhanced the recombinant human GR protein activityin vitro, with a half-maximal effective concentration of z2.317 mM. Conversely, 1,3-bis-(2-chloroethyl)-1-nitrosourea co-treatment significantly abolished the GRb1’s apoptotic and antioxidative effects of GRb1in H9C2 cells. Conclusion: GRb1 is a potential natural GR agonist that protects against oxidative stresseinducedapoptosis of H9C2 cells.

Effects of Supplementary Composts on Microbial Communities and Rice Productivity in Cold Water Paddy Fields

( Kai Zhi Xie ),( Pei Zhi Xu ),( Shao Hai Yang ),( Yu Sheng Lu ),( Rui Ping Jiang ),( Wen Jie Gu ),( Wen Ying Li ),( Li Li Sun ) 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2015 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.25 No.5

Cold water paddy field soils are relatively unproductive, but can be ameliorated by supplementing with inorganic fertilizer from animal waste-based composts. The yield of two rice cultivars was significantly raised by providing either chicken manure or cow dung-based compost. The application of these composts raised the soil pH as well as both the total nitrogen and ammonium nitrogen content, which improved the soil’s fertility and raised its nitrification potential. The composts had a measurable effect on the abundance of nitrogencycling- related soil microbes, as measured by estimating the copy number of various bacterial and archaeal genes using quantitative real-time PCR. The abundance of ammonia oxidizing archaea and bacteria was markedly encouraged by the application of chicken manure-based compost. Supplementation with the composts helped promote the availability of soil nitrogen in the cold water paddy field, thereby improving the soil’s productivity and increasing the yield of the rice crop.

Influence of Particle Shape on the Density and Compressive Performance of Calcareous Sand

        Shuai Wang,Xue-Wen Lei,Qing-Shan Meng,Jie-Li Xu,Ling-Feng Xie,Yu-Jie Li 대한토목학회 2020 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.24 No.1

Particle shape influence the bearing capacity of calcareous sand foundations in island reef engineering. An improved Computer Image Analysis method that combined with mathematical statistics was proposed to categorize and sort different shapes of calcareous sand particles within the size range of 5 – 10 mm. Three single-shape calcareous sand specimens (granular ᅠ ᅠshape, dendritic shape, long strip shape) were obtained. A new self-developed vibration device was used measuring the maximum density of calcareous, the shape and content as the variables in the orthogonal test. On this basis, the lateral compression tests were carried out to assess the influence of particle shape on the density, compressive performance of calcareous sand. Test results showed that better discriminability was achieved by taking mean flatness (EL/B) as the quantification parameter of the particle shapes. The average flatness EL/B of specimens is approximately normally distributed in the statistical results. The shape and content of sand particles had an obvious influence on the density of calcareous sand. The compressive properties of calcareous sands with different particle shapes have obvious differences. After loaded, the particle size distribution of specimen improved, the average flatness EL/B of the granular-shaped specimens increased, while that of the dendritic-shaped and the long-strip-shaped specimens decreased, the average flatness EL/B of the specimens tended to be uniform. The relative fracture rate Br and the load value Pmax satisfied the exponential function fitting relationship. Therefore, it can be argued that particle shape should be taken into consideration when optimizing the foundation design in island reef engineering to achieve better compressive performance of the foundation.

      • Roles of Fibroblast Growth Factor-inducible 14 in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

        Li, Nan,Hu, Wen-Jun,Shi, Jie,Xue, Jie,Guo, Wei-Xing,Zhang, Yang,Guan, Dong-Xian,Liu, Shu-Peng,Cheng, Yu-Qiang,Wu, Meng-Chao,Xie, Dong,Liu, Shan-Rong,Cheng, Shu-Qun Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.6

The prognostic value of the fibroblast growth factor-inducible 14 (Fn14) expression in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is unknown. Real-time PCR (RT-PCR), western blot assays and immunohistochemistry analysis were here performed in order to compare Fn14 expressios in paired liver samples of HCC and normal liver tissue. Most of the tumor tissues expressed significantly higher levels of Fn14 compared to adjacent non-tumor tissues, with Fn14High accounting for 54.6% (142/260) of all patients. The Pearson ${\chi}^2$ test indicated that Fn14 expression was closely associated with serum alpha fetal protein (AFP) (P=0.002) and tumor number (p=0.019). Univariate and multivariate analyses revealed that along with tumor diameter and portal vein tumor thrombosis (PVTT ) type, Fn14 was an independent prognostic factor for both overall survival (OS) (HR=1.398, p=0.008) and recurrence (HR=1.541, p=0.001) rates. Fn14 overexpression HCC correlated with poor surgical outcome, and this molecule may be a candidate biomarker for prognosis as well as a target for therapy.

The complete mitochondrial genome of a threatened loach (Sinibotia reevesae) and its phylogeny

        Yuan‑Chao Zou,Bi‑Wen Xie,Chuan‑Jie Qin,Yong‑Ming Wang,Deng‑Yue Yuan,Rui Li,Zheng‑Yong Wen 한국유전학회 2017 Genes & Genomics Vol.39 No.7

In present study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Sinibotia reevesae was first sequenced using the next-generation sequencing technology and annotated using bioinformatic tools. The circular mitochondrial genome was 16,572 bp in length, and contained 13 proteincoding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, and 1 displacement loop locus. It presents a typical gene organization and order for completely sequenced cypriniformes mitogenomes. The control region could be divided into three parts included the extended termination associated sequence domain, the central conserved domain and the conserved sequence block. Interestingly, two stemloop domains were found in control region and OL region, respectively. Furthermore, phylogenetic analyses using concatenated amino acid and nucleotide sequences of the 13 protein-coding genes with two different methods (Maximum likelihood and Bayesian analysis) both highly supported the close relationship of S. reevesae and Sinibotia superciliaris, which was in line with the previous classifications based on morphological and molecular studies. These data provide useful information for a better understanding of the mitogenomic diversities and evolution in fish as well as novel genetic markers for studying population genetics and species identification.

In vitro disinfection efficacy and clinical protective effects of common disinfectants against acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND)- causing Vibrio isolates in Pacific white shrimp Penaeus vannamei

        Zou Peizhuo,Yang Qian,Wang Hailiang,Xie Guosi,Cao Zhi,Chen Xing,Gao Wen,Huang Jie 한국미생물학회 2020 The journal of microbiology Vol.58 No.8

Acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND) is one of the most significant bacterial diseases in global shrimp culture, causing severe economic losses. In the present study, we carried out in vitro antimicrobial tests to investigate the disinfection efficacy of 14 common disinfectants toward different AHPND-causing Vibrio spp., including eight isolates of V. parahaemolyticus, four isolates of V. campbellii, and one isolate of V. owensii. Polyhexamethylene biguanidine hydrochloride (PHMB) was revealed to possess the strongest inhibitory activity. Through analyzing and evaluating the results of antimicrobial tests and acute toxicity test, we selected PHMB and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) for further clinical protection test. Clinical manifestations indicated that both PHMB (2 mg/L and 4 mg/L) and H2O2 (12 mg/L) could effectively protect juvenile Penaeus vannamei from the infection of V. parahaemolyticus isolate Vp362 at 106 CFU/ml, and the survival rate was over 80%. When the bacterial concentration was reduced to 105 CFU/ml, 104 CFU/ml, and 103 CFU/ml, the survival rate after treated by 1 mg/L PHMB was 64.44%, 93.33%, and 100%, respectively. According to the results, PHMB and H2O2 showed a lower toxicity while a better protection activity, particularly against a lower concentration of the pathogens. Therefore, these two disinfectants are proved to be promising disinfectants that can be applied to prevent and control AHPND in shrimp culture. Moreover, the methods of this study also provided valuable information for the prevention of other important bacterial diseases and suggested a reliable means for screening potential drugs in aquaculture.

Experimental and Modeling Studies on the Sorption Breakthrough Behaviors of Butanol from Aqueous Solution in a Fixed-bed of KA-I Resin

        Xiaoqing Lin,Renjie Li,Qingshi Wen,Jinglan Wu,Jiansheng Fan,Xiaohong Jin,Wenbin Qian,Dong Liu,Xiaochun Chen,Yong Chen,Jingjing Xie,Jianxin Bai,Han-Jie Ying 한국생물공학회 2013 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.18 No.2

Removal of biobutanol from acetone-butanolethanol (ABE) fermentation broth can be achieved by fixed-bed sorption by means of KA-I resin, and the relevant breakthrough curves would provide much valuable information to help design a continuous fixed-bed sorption process in field application. In the present study, the effects of several important design parameters, i.e., initial butanol concentration (Cf: 3.0 ~ 30.0 g/L), inlet flow rate (Qf: 0.5~ 5.5 mL/min) and adsorbent bed height (Z: 4.2 ~ 18.0 cm),on the adsorption breakthrough curves of KA-I resin in a fixed-bed column were investigated. It was found that the amount of adsorbed butanol at breakthrough point was increased with an increase in the value of Cf and Z; and with decrease in the value of Qf. However, the maximum sorption capacities of butanol at saturated point were basically unchanged. Three well-established fixed-bed adsorption models, namely Thomas, Yoon-Nelson and Adams-Bohart,were applied to predict the breakthrough curves and to determine the characteristic parameters of fixed-bed column, which are the basis for the process design at a real scale. Good agreement between the theoretical breakthrough curves and the experimental result were observed using Thomas and Yoon-Nelson models.

Synthesis and Characterization of MoS2/Graphene-TiO2 Ternary Photocatalysts for High-Efficiency Hydrogen Production under Visible Light

        Zhang, Feng-Jun,Kong, Cui,Li, Xuan,Sun, Xian-Yang,Xie, Wen-Jie,Oh, Won-Chun The Korean Ceramic Society 2019 한국세라믹학회지 Vol.56 No.3

Ternary MoS2/graphene (G)-TiO2 photocatalysts were prepared by a simple hydrothermal method. The morphology, phase structure, band gap, and catalytic properties of the prepared samples were investigated by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, UV-vis spectrophotometry, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area measurement. The H2 production efficiency of the prepared catalysts was tested in methanol-water mixture under visible light. MoS2/G-TiO2 exhibited the highest activity for photocatalytic H2 production. For 5 wt.% and 1 wt.% MoS2 and graphene (5MT-1G), the production rate of H2 was as high as 1989 µmol-1h-1. The catalyst 5MT-1G showed H2 production activity that was ~ 11.3, 5.6, and 4.1 times higher than those of pure TiO2, 1GT, and 5MT, respectively. The unique structure and morphology of the MoS2/G-TiO2 photocatalyst contributed to its improved hydrogen production efficiency under visible light.
