        ORIGINAL ARTICLE : The Campus of University Earthquake Disaster Prevention Planning -The Research of Spatial Pattern Based on GIS

        In the background of rapid urbanization and frequent earthquakes, earthquake disaster prevention planning has become an important topic of current research. Universities are irreplaceable disaster shelter, as they are public institutions with a lot of open space. This article puts forward the concept of "disaster prevention campus". With the refuge behavioral and psychological characteristics of people in the campus when the earthquake happens, it integrated uses GIS spatial analysis technique, takes Shandong Agricultural University as an example, and studies the spatial pattern of earthquake disaster prevention planning in campus from five aspects. The aspects include building distribution, population distribution, analysis of service radius, infrastructure configuration and choice of the optimal refuge path. On the basis of researches above, reform proposals and specific strategies are put forward to build the safe and harmonious disaster prevention campus.

        중국 요족(瑤族) 복식 분석과 디자인 개발

        중국 소수민족인 요족의 복식은 오랜 역사에 걸쳐 형성된 문화의 다양한 특성을 독창적으로 나타내고 있다. 소수민족의 전통 문화가 현대화에 의해 사라지고 있는 상황에서 인류 문화의 원형인 민속 문화가 지닌 고유성을 현대 복식에 적용하여 되살리는 것은 의의가 있다. 요족 전통복식에 나타난 모티브와 색채 등은 현대 패션에 활용될 수 있으며 디자이너의 제품개발에 지역적 특성을 표현하는 주제로서 제공될 수 있다. 연구방법은 2010년 03월 18일부터 23일까지 운남성 민족촌과 곤명박물관을 중심으로 현지 조사를 진행하고 요족 관련 서적, 논문, 사이트를 중심으로 요족 복식에 관한 자료를 수집하였다. 요족복식의 특징을 복식 구조, 장식 요소, 색채, 문양으로 분석한 후 요족 복식 요소를 현대 디자인 개발에 적용하였다. 요족복식 요소를 반영한 현대 복식 디자인은 트랜드와 전통성을 결합하여 서구 중심의 조형성에 하나의 대안으로서 현대인의 취향에 감각적으로 받아들여질 수 있는 장식적인 특성을 가미한 작품을 제시하고자 하였다. The costume of the Yao minority in China has a long history and has attractive features which include a variety of cultural characteristics. Retaining cultural heritage is significant and so the attributes of the costume of the Yao minority are applied to contemporary fashion, in a situation where traditional values are disappearing with modernization. The characteristics of the costume and colorful decorations of the Yao minority inspired the development and production of modern outfits as design themes or motifs could express the local mindset. Material was collected by visiting an ethnic village in Yunnan province from March, 18 to 23 in 2010 and through literature research on the theme of costume of the Yao minority. The study first analyzed the basic structure and form of clothing, decoration methods of the head, waist, legs and accessories, colors, and patterns to understand the characteristics of the costume of the Yao minority, and then the extracted elements were applied to design development in three main subjects combined with recent trends. The designs which reflect the sensibility of the Yao minority through the mix of trendy and traditional factors is as an alternative to western-oriented appearance, which can satisfy contemporary tastes in fashion.

        Oral administration of Schisandra chinensis extract suppresses Dnmt1 expression in Kunming mice ovaries

        The plant Schisandra chinensis contains a phytoestrogens, a type of naturally occurring estrogens which have multiple functions in a number of biological processes. To investigate the correlation between phytoestrogens and epigenetic modification, especially the effect of phytoestrogens on DNA methylation, sexually healthy female mice were used as an animal model in the present study. Briefly, the total RNA and protein were isolated from the ovary of mice after 7-day oral administration of Schisandra chinensis extract (SCE), while distilled water was given to the animals in the control group. Real-time PCR, Western blotting, and enzyme activity assays were performed to examine the effect of the extract of S. chinensis on Dnmt1 transcription and activity. A promoter assay was further conducted in MCF cells (ER positive) to explore also the influence of SCE on Dnmt1 transcriptional activity. The results revealed that the mRNA and protein expression levels of mouse Dnmt1 were both significantly downregulated in the treated group. The transcription of Dnmt1 was suppressed by SCE and in the E2-added group also. Meanwhile the numbers of oocytes at different stages were increased in the treated group when compared by histological analyses with those in the control group. Taken together, the results indicated that, similarly to the action of estrogen, phytoestrogens affected Dnmt1 transcription in mammals, regulating the related gene expression and cell differentiation. The findings of our examination provided also basic data and understanding for the correlation between phytoestrogens and epigenetic modification.

        Molecular characterization of the sans fille gene in Antheraea pernyi: A highly conserved gene during the evolution of animals

        Sans-fille (SNF) is the Drosophila homologue ofmammalian general splicing factors U1A and U2B″, and plays an important role in sex determination in Drosophilamelanogaster. In this study, the snf gene fromAntheraea pernyi (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae), an economically important insect, was isolated and characterized. The obtained 925 bp cDNA sequence contains an open reading frame of 669 bp encoding a polypeptide of 222 amino acids,showing 78% sequence identity to that from D. melanogaster. A database search revealed that SNF protein homologs are present in many animals, including invertebrates and vertebrates, with more than 70% amino acid sequence identities, suggesting that they were highly conserved during the evolution of animals. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that A. pernyi SNF was closely related to Bombyx mori SNF. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis showed that the A. pernyi snf gene was transcribed during five larval developmental stages,and in six tested tissues (ovaries, testes, silk glands, fat body, integument, and hemolymph),with the most abundance determined in the gonads (ovaries or testes). Investigation of expression changes throughout embryonic development indicated that A. pernyi snfmRNAwas expressed at a lowlevel fromdays 0 to 4, and reached amaximum level at day 10, but decreased to a low level before hatching. These results suggest that the product of the snf gene may play important roles in the development of A. pernyi.

        수목 방향유 15종의 산화방지, 항세균, 항진균 및 항염증 효과

        본 연구는 수목 방향유 15종의 산화방지 활성, 항세균, 항진균활성에 대해 연구하였다. 먼저 2가지 다른 실험방법을 통하여 산화방지 효과를 확인한 결과 15가지 수목 방향유 중 clove bud, 붓순나무, 왕초피나무, 곰취는 농도의존적으로 상당한 산화방지활성을 나타내었다. 다음으로 S. aureus, L. monocytogenes, E. coli O157:H7, S. typhimurium, 그리고 S. mutans에 대한 항세균 활성은 액체배양법으로 측정한 결과 clove bud에서 현저하게 억제 효과가 나타났다. 또한, 페이퍼디스크 확산법을 통해 연구한 결과앞에서 언급한 5가지 균주의 5, 2.5 μL/disc에서 농도의존적으로 균의 성장을 억제하였고 그 중 식중독 균주인 S. aureus의 성장에 대해 clove bud (0.625-5 μL/disc)는 1.25 μL/disc 농도까지 눈에 띄게 억제 효과가 나타났다. 추가적으로 A. fumigatus, C. albicans, T. rubrum, A. ochraceus의 4가지 균주에서 clove bud의 항진균효과가 다른 수목 방향유보다 좋았으며, 이를 바탕으로 페이퍼디스크 확산법을 통해 억제환의 크기를 측정한 결과 1-2 μL/disc의 농도에서 양성 대조 약물인 ketoconazole (20 μg/disc) 보다 더 우수한 효능을 나타내었다. 이 같은 결과를 종합하여 산화방지 활성과 항균 활성이 뛰어난 clove bud의 항염증 효과를 평가하였고, clove bud는 0.01% 농도에서 염증 관련 인자인 COX-2와 iNOS 단백질 발현을 LPS 처리군과 비교하여 COX-2 억제제 celecoxib와 유사하게 감소시켰다. 이와 같은 결과를 종합하면 수목 방향유는 산화방지, 항세균, 항진균, 항염증과 같이 여러 활성을 지니고 있으며, 방향유는 산화방지 및 항균성 화장품 소재로서 응용할 수 있으며, 염증반응 완화를 포함한 다양한 산업화에 응용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. The current study investigated the beneficial effects of 15 essential oils isolated from tree branches, leaves, and flowers. Among these oils, clove bud and Illicium anisatum oils showed the most potent anti-oxidant effects on 1,1- diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl and 2,2azinbis-(3-ethyl-benzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) radical scavenging activities. Next, we evaluated the antibacterial effects of 15 essential oils on Staphylococcus aureus, Listeria monocytogenes, Escherichia coli O157:H7, Salmonella typhimurium, and Streptococcus mutans. Clove bud significantly decreased growth of 5 bacterial strains. In addition, clove bud, Magnolia kobus, Picea abies and Chamaecyparis obtuse significantly reduced growth of the fungi, Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus ochraceus, Candida albicans and Trichophyton rubrum. Additionally, clove bud also remarkably reduced the expression of cyclooxygenase-2 and inducible NO synthase in lipopolysaccharide-activated RAW264.7 cells. These results indicate that essential oils isolated from trees, which exhibit antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties, may be potentially useful in the development of cosmetic ingredients.

        Electrochemical enhanced heterogeneous activation of peroxymonosulfate by CoFe2O4 nanoparticles to degrade moxifloxacin

        The catalytic mechanism of CoFe2O4 nanoparticles (NPs) was investigated in the system of electrochemicalenhanced heterogeneous activation of peroxymonosulfate (EC/CoFe2O4/PMS) with moxifloxacin(MOX) as target contaminant. The removal efficiencies of MOX in PMS, CoFe2O4, EC, CoFe2O4/PMS, andEC/CoFe2O4/PMS system were 18.3%, 36.1%, 43.7%, 96.9%, and 98.3%, respectively. Although there wasno synergy effect between EC and heterogeneous catalytic oxidation reaction (HCOR) on MOX removal,the value of apparent rate constant (karc) was much higher in EC/CoFe2O4/PMS system (0.24 min1) comparedwith CoFe2O4/PMS system (0.13 min1). Therefore, EC not only kept the structure of CoFe2O4 NPsstable, but also significantly accelerated the reaction rate of HCOR. Meanwhile, according to electrochemicalimpedance spectra of catalysts synthesized based on ion-substitution strategy and the EC-HCORexperimental results, the decisive role of „Co in PMS activation and the electron transfer between„Co and „Fe were confirmed. The TOC removal efficiency was reached 74.4% as the ratio of PMS toCoFe2O4 NPs being 0.8 mM to 50 mg/L (30 min), and further improved to 87.6% with batch addition(0.25 mM per 30 min) of PMS (120 min, CoFe2O4 = 100 mg/L). The research results could improve theunderstanding of catalytic mechanism of spinel oxide in electrochemical system.

        An interval-energy-based method for lifetime assessment of dissimilar lightweight metal welded joints

        In consideration of uncertainties of material characteristics and its welding and forming process, an interval strain energy density method for predicting fatigue life of dissimilar lightweight metal welded joints was presented in this paper. Firstly, the mechanical performance parameters and fatigue properties of welded joints with parental material aluminum alloy 5083H111 and 5754 were obtained by experimental work. Based on the interval number approach, the interval relationship between the elastic and plastic strain energy density and fatigue life was constructed, including lower and upper interval bounds. Then, a finite element model of the dissimilar lightweight metal cross welded joint was generated to calculate the stress-strain response curve under cyclic loadings through the non-linear finite element analysis. The predicted lifetime and failure location for the cross welded joint based on the interval strain energy density method agreed well with the tested results.
