      • Ki-67 is a Valuable Prognostic Factor in Gliomas: Evidence from a Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

        Ki-67 has been widely used as an indicator of cell proliferation in gliomas. However, the role of Ki-67 as a prognostic marker is still undefined. Thus, we conducted a meta-analysis of the published literatures in order to clarify the impact of Ki-67 on survival in glioma cases. Eligible studies were identified in PubMed, EMBASE, ISI Web of Science, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Science Direct and Wiley Online Library with the last search updated on August 31, 2014. The clinical characteristics, overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) together with Ki-67 expression at different time points were extracted. A total of 51 studies, covering 4,307 patients, were included in the current meta-analysis. The results showed that overexpression of Ki-67 can predict poor OS (HR=1.66, 95%CI: 1.53-1.80; Z=11.87; p=0.000) and poor PFS (HR=1.67, 95%CI: 1.47-1.91; Z=7.67; p=0.000) in gliomas. Moreover, subgroup analyses also indicated that high level of Ki-67 expression was related to poor OS and PFS in glioma patients regardless of region, pathology type, cut-off value and statistical method. In conclusion, the current meta-analysis revealed that Ki-67 expression might be a predicative factor for poor prognosis of glioma patients, emphasizing its importance as a predictor.

        Novel HMW glutenin genes from Aegilops tauschii and their unique structures

        A pair of novel high-molecular-weight glutenin subunits (HMW-GS) 1Dx5.3t and 1Dy12.1**t were revealed and characterized from Ae. tauschii accession PI554324. SDS-PAGE band of 1Dx5.3t was between those of 1Bx6 and 1Bx7, while 1Dy12.1**t with slightly faster migration rate than that of 1Dy12. The lengths of 1Dx5.3t and 1Dy12.1**t were 2115 bp and 1986 bp, encoding 703 and 660 amino acid residues,respectively. Their authenticity was confirmed by successful expression of the coding regions in Escherichia coli. 1Dx5.3t is the shortest of the known Dx-type alleles. 1Dy12.1**t is also a special subunit since it has an additional cysteine in the front of the central repetitive domain. This cysteine that is not existed in previously reported Dy-type genes may be useful for improving bread wheat quality. Median-joining Network analysis indicated that 1Dy12.1**t may be a key site in the genealogy of the Glu-Dy.

      • Joint Beamforming and Power Allocation Cognitive Radio Networks under Imperfect CSI

        Traditional beamforming and power control algo-rithms in cognitive radio (CR) are based on the assumption of perfect channel state information (CSI) however; this may lead to performance degradation in realistic systems. In this paper, the problem of joint beamforming and power control is investigated in underlay CR networks with imperfect CSI. Our objective is to maximize the sum utility of secondary users (SUs) under the primary users (PUs) interference power constraints and the transmission power constraint of SUs. First, the joint beamforming and power control problem is formulated under game theory framework, where the SUs compete with each other over the beamforming vectors and transmission power level made available by the PUs. Moreover, the channel uncertainty is described using ellipsoid sets and the interference power constraints can be converted into robust interference power constraints. Besides, Nash equilibrium (NE) is considered as the solution of this game. Finally, simulation results show that the proposed scheme can converge to a locally optimal pair of beamforming vector and transmission power level in the presence of channel uncertainty.

        Current state of research about acupuncture for the treatment of COVID-19: A scoping review

        Background Since the outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), acupuncture has been widely used in the treatment of COVID-19. The research community has responded rapidly and has already published many research articles about this topic. Methods We searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library as well as CNKI, Wanfang and VIP from January 1, 2020 to July 31, 2021. The dates of publication, language of publication, methodological characteristics and the key findings were analyzed separately. The data are presented as bar graphs, structured tables and figures. Results In this scoping review, 16 research articles were included: 7 case reports, 6 observational studies, 1 review, 1 RCT and 1 nonrandomized clinical trial. The majority of the articles (81.3%) were published by Chinese scholars, 12.5% articles were by scholars in the United States, and 6.3% articles were by scholars in Iran. The included studies reported that acupuncture could alleviate the symptoms of COVID-19 patients, shorten their hospitalization days, and is effective for the elderly. There were no side effects reported. The most frequent acupoints used were LI4, PC6, ST36 and KI3. They reported many obstacles in implementing acupuncture therapy for treating COVID-19 patients. Conclusion Acupuncture has a good effect for the treatment of COVID-19, but high-quality evidence support is still lacking. Coupled with the difficulties that acupuncturists experienced during the process of treatment, the promotion of acupuncture treatment for COVID-19 faces many obstacles.         A Study on the Influencing Factors of Logistics Performance Index(LPI) of RCEP Signatories on China’s Foreign Export Trade -Based on the Gravity Model-

        본 연구의 목적은 RCEP 협력국의 물류성과지수(LPI)가 중국 대외 무역에 미치는 영향을 분석하여 중국 물류와 수출무역 확대 전략 추진에 도움이 주는데 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구 방법은 중력모형을 기반으로 6개 영향변수과 LPI의 4가지 하위 지표가 15개 RCEP 동맹국에 미치는 물류 성과과 중국 수출에 미치는 영향을 분석한다. 분석 결과 다음과 같다. 첫째, RCEP 국가의 LPI는 중국의 수출과 양의 관련 추세를 나타내다. 둘째, RCEP 국가 중 선진국의 LPI 평균치는 ASEAN 국가보다 높다. 셋째, 물류 성과 지수의 하위 지표가 중국의 대외 무역에 미치는 영향 중 추적의 영향이 가장 크며, 다음으로 물류 인프라, 물류 서비스 품질이 있다. 넷째, RCEP 개도국에서는 물류 인프라의 질과 세관 효율이 물류 성과를 떨어뜨리는 주요 원인이다. 본 연구 결과를 토대로 다음과 같은 점을 제안한다. 첫째, RCEP 개발도상국의 교통물류 인프라의 질을 개선하고 RCEP 지역의 국제 주요 물류채널 건설을 추진해야 한다. 둘째, 다국적 기업의 협력을 장려하고 기술지원을 강화하여 RCEP 개발도상국의 경제관리 수준을 높여야 한다. 셋째, RCEP 역내 물류 서비스의 수준과 경쟁력을 높이기 위한 국제 물류 협력을 전개해야 한다. The purpose of this research is to analyze the impact of the logistics performance index (LPI) of RCEP signatories on China’s foreign trade, in order to help promote China’s logistics and export expansion strategy. Therefore, based on the gravity model, this research analyzes the impact of 6 influence variables and 4 sub-indicators of LPI on the logistics performance of 15 RCEP allies and on China’s exports. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, the LPI of RCEP countries is positively correlated with China’s export volume. Secondly, the average LPI of developed countries in RCEP signatories is higher than that of ASEAN countries. Thirdly, among the 4 sub-indicators of LPI, tracking has the greatest impact on China’s foreign trade, followed by logistics infrastructure, and logistics service quality. Finally, in RCEP developing countries, the quality of logistics infrastructure and customs efficiency are the main reasons for the decline in logistics performance. Therefore, the following points are put forward according to the results of this study. First, the quality of transportation logistics infrastructure in RCEP developing countries should be improved and the construction of international major logistics channels in RCEP regions should be promoted. Secondly, transnational corporations should be encouraged to cooperate, strengthen technical support, and improve the level of economic management in RCEP developing countries. Thirdly, international logistics cooperation should be carried out to improve the level and competitiveness of logistics services in RCEP areas.

        Molecular organization of the B mating type locus of a Lentinula edodes monokaryon strain SUP2

        Lentinula edodes is an important cultivated mushroom in China. The development of Lentinula edodes production promotes more studies on it. In our previous work, degenerate PCR and chromosome walking technologies were used to obtain one pheromone receptor gene and one pheromone precursor gene from Lentinula edodes. In this study, four pairs of specific primers were designed according to the whole genome sequencing of the protoplast monokaryon of Lentinula edodes strain 135, to amplify STE3-like pheromone receptor gene and its flanking conserved genes in the protoplast monokaryon strain SUP2 derived from Lentinula edodes strain Suxiang and 33655bp DNA sequence was obtained. By BlastX search, seven putative genes were identified, and three of them are pheromone receptor encoded genes. Furthermore, near to two pheromone receptor genes, four genes encoding proteins with conserved motifs of pheromone precursors were found. This study firstly reveals the molecular organization of the B mating type locus of Lentinula edodes.

      • Folate Deficiency and FHIT Hypermethylation and HPV 16 Infection Promote Cervical Cancerization

        Fragile histidine triad (FHIT) is a suppressor gene related to cervical cancer through CpG island hypermethylation. Folate is a water-soluble B-vitamin and an important cofactor in one-carbon metabolism. It may play an essential role in cervical lesions through effects on DNA methylation. The purpose of this study was to observe effects of folate and FHIT methylation and HPV 16 on cervical cancer progression. In this study, DNA methylation of FHIT, serum folate level and HPV16 status were measured using methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction (MSP), radioimmunoassay (RIA) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR), respectively, in 310 women with a diagnosis of normal cervix (NC, n=109), cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN, n=101) and squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix (SCC, n=101). There were significant differences in HPV16 status (${\chi}^2=36.64$, P<0.001), CpG island methylation of FHIT (${\chi}^2=71.31$, P<0.001) and serum folate level (F=4.57, P=0.011) across the cervical histologic groups. Interaction analysis showed that the ORs only with FHIT methylation (OR=11.47) or only with HPV 16 positive (OR=4.63) or with serum folate level lower than 3.19ng/ml (OR=1.68) in SCC group were all higher than the control status of HPV 16 negative and FHIT unmethylation and serum folate level more than 3.19ng/ml (OR=1). The ORs only with HPV 16 positive (OR=2.58) or with serum folate level lower than 3.19ng/ml (OR=1.28) in CIN group were all higher than the control status, but the OR only with FHIT methylation (OR=0.53) in CIN group was lower than the control status. HPV 16 positivity was associated with a 7.60-fold increased risk of SCC with folate deficiency and with a 1.84-fold increased risk of CIN. The patients with FHIT methylation and folate deficiency or with FHIT methylation and HPV 16 positive were SCC or CIN, and the patients with HPV 16 positive and FHIT methylation and folate deficiency were all SCC. In conclusion, HPV 16 infection, FHIT methylation and folate deficiency might promote cervical cancer progression. This suggests that FHIT may be an effective target for prevention and treatment of cervical cancer.
