      • Co/Mn/Br계 촉매상에서 p-자일렌 액상산화반응의 공정변수에 관한 연구

        Liquid phase oxidation of p-xylene using molecular oxygen has been carried out on the Co/Mn/Br-based catalyst system in acetic acid as a solvent. Process parameters(total pressure, partial pressure of oxygen and temperature) and kinetics of the reaction were studied as a basic study in the viewpoint for the development of new catalyst system and process. The total pressure above 20atm and the partial pressure of oxygen above 5atm were required to keep the reactant in the liquid phase and to overcome the mass transfer limitation of oxygen. The oxidation rate conversion were increased with increasing reaction temperature to the 100∼190℃ range. For a given initial concentration of p-xylene, the oxidation rate and the apparent activation energy were found to be of first-order and 4.24 ㎉/㏖, respectively. The effect of the third components added to the Co/Mn/Br catalyst was also studied. It was found that Ni is only a good additive that can promote the catalyst performance.

        Value Engineering(VE) is in force for strengthening the competitiveness in internal construction industry. But, although there are systematic, technical efforts, VE is recognized only a method of cost saving in internal construction industry. Each phase of VE has not been connected organically and cut. It has focused only cost saving in target selection phase and function definition has been performed by original functions that target has. This study suggests the connection process between a target selection of preparation phase and a function definition of analysis phase, and reflects needs of clients and users and project characters in the target selection.       • 벼 乾畓直播栽培에서 Propyl Dihydro Jasmonate 種子處理에 따른 出芽 및 生育促進效果

        This study was conducted to examine the effects of Propyl Dihydro Jasmonate on the growth responses, chilling tolerance and yields on the direct seeding on dry paddy at seedling stage in two rice cultivars The emergence rate of two rice cultivars (Seoan byeo and Dasanbyeo) were increased more by the treatment of 0.05μM PDJ than those of others. Higher concentration of PDJ was found to be inhibitory for germination. Number of emergence of cultivar Seoanbyeo was higher in 0.05μM PDJ treatment for 24hour as compared to 12hour, whereas, no significant difference was observed in case of cultivar Dasanbyeo Plant height and number of tillers of two rice cultivars were increased by the treatment of 0.05μM PDJ for 24 hour Rice yield of the tested cultivars were increased high in the PDJ treatment plot due to increment of the panicle number in the dry seesed paddy field.

        Whole-genome resequencing analysis of 20 Micro-pigs

        Background Miniature pigs have been increasingly used as mammalian model animals for biomedical research because of their similarity to human beings in terms of their metabolic features and proportional organ sizes. However, despite their importance, there is a severe lack of genome-wide studies on miniature pigs. Objective In this study, we performed whole-genome sequencing analysis of 20 Micro-pigs obtained from Medi Kinetics to elucidate their genomic characteristics. Results Approximately 595 gigabase pairs (Gb) of sequence reads were generated to be mapped to the swine reference genome assembly (Sus scrofa 10.2); on average, the sequence reads covered 99.15% of the reference genome at an average of 9.6-fold coverage. We detected a total of 19,518,548 SNPs, of which 8.7% were found to be novel. With further annotation of all of the SNPs, we retrieved 144,507 nonsynonymous SNPs (nsSNPs); of these, 5968 were found in all 20 individuals used in this study. SIFT prediction for these SNPs identified that 812 nsSNPs in 402 genes were deleterious. Among these 402 genes, we identified some genes that could potentially affect traits of interest in Micro-pigs, such as RHEB and FRAS1. Furthermore, we performed runs of homozygosity analysis to locate potential selection signatures in the genome, detecting several loci that might be involved in phenotypic characteristics in Micro-pigs, such as MSTN, GDF5, and GDF11. Conclusion In this study, we identified numerous nsSNPs that could be used as candidate genetic markers with involvement in traits of interest. Furthermore, we detected putative selection footprints that might be associated with recent selection applied to miniature pigs.

        법랑모세포 분화와 법랑질 형성과정에서 OD314, Apin protein의 발현 및 기능

        본 연구에서는 법랑모세포 분화와 법랑질 형성에 연관이 있는 OD314 일명 Apin protein의 기능을 밝힐 목적으로, in-situ hybridization에 의한 OD314 mRNA 발현과 법랑모세포 세포주에서 OD314 enamel matrix protein의 발현, 그리고 OD314 유전자를 과발현/억제시킬 수 있는 construct를 제작한 후 법랑질 형성 중에 OD314의 기능을 알아보고자 RT-PCR를 시행하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. OD314 mRNA는 발생중인 상아모세포보다 법랑모세포에서 강하게 발현되었다. 2. Tuftelin은 석회화 결정이 형성되는 14일까지 발현이 지속되고, 그 이후부터 점차 감소하였다. Amelogenin과enamelin은 7일부터 그 발현이 점점 감소하였다. 3. U6-OD314 siRNA construct를 이용하여 transfection한 법랑모세포 세포주는 OD314와 tuftelin,MMP2 mRNA 발현이 감소하였으며, CM-OD314를 transfection하여 OD314의 과발현을 유도한 경우에는 OD314와 MMP20 mRNA의 발현이 뚜렷이 증대되었다. 이 결과는 OD314가 법랑모세포의 분화와 법랑질의 형성 그리고 석회화 과정에 중요한 역할을 하는 새로운 인자임을 시사한다. This study was aimed to elucidate the biological function of OD314 (Apin protein), which is related to ameloblast differentiation and amelogenesis. Apin protein, calcifying epithelial odontogenic (pindborg) tumors (CEOTs)-associated amyloid, were isolated from CEOTs, and has similar nucleotide sequences to OD314. We examined expression of the OD314 mRNA using in-situ hybridization during tooth development in mice. Expression of OD314 and several enamel matrix proteins were examined in the cultured ameloblast cell line up to 28 days by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) amplification. After inactivation and over-expression of the OD314 gene in ameloblast cell lines using U6 vector-driven RNA interference and CMV-OD314 construct, RT-PCR were performed to evaluate the effect of the OD314 during amelogenesis. The results were as follows: 1. In in-situ hybridization, OD314 mRNAs were more strongly expressed in ameloblast than odontoblast. 2. When ameloblast cells were cultured in the differentiation and mineralization medium for 28 days, the tuftelin mRNA expression was maintained from the beginning to day 14, and then gradually decreased to day 28. The expressions of amelogenin and enamelin were gradually decreased according to the ameloblast differentiation. 3. Inactivation of OD314 by U6-OD314 siRNA construct down-regulated the expression of OD314, MMP-20, and tuftelin, whereas over-expression of OD314 by CMV-OD314 construct up-regulated the expression of OD314 and MMP-20 without change in tuftelin. These results suggest that OD314 is considered as an ameloblast-enriched gene and may play the important roles in ameloblast differentiation and mineralization.

        In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

        Effect of Nitrite and Nitrate as the Source of OH Radical in the O<sub>3</sub>/UV Process with or without Benzene

        This study suggests the prediction model for the concentration variation of $NO_2{^-}$ and $NO_3{^-}$ along with the rate constants of all reactions during ozonation under UV radiation ($O_3$/UV process). While $NO_2{^-}$ was completely converted into $NO_3{^-}$ during the $O_3$-only process, the production of $NO_2$ radical or $N_2O_4$ was expected in the $O_3$/UV process. In addition, the quenching of OH radicals, by $NO_2$ radical in the $O_3$/UV process, resulted in regeneration of $NO_2{^-}$. However, the regeneration of $NO_2{^-}$ was not observed in the $O_3$/UV process in the presence of $C_6H_6$ where the concentrations of $NO_2{^-}$ and $NO_3{^-}$ were significantly reduced compared to in the process without $C_6H_6$. The pseudo-first order rate constants of all species were calculated with and without the presence of $C_6H_6$ to predict the variation of concentrations of all species during the $O_3$/UV process. It was suggested that $NO_2{^-}$ and $NO_3{^-}$ in the $O_3$/UV process can be more effectively removed from an aqueous system with an OH radical scavenger such as $C_6H_6$.

      • FCT 6 : Second report of cutaneous malignant melanoma (2006~2012); comparison with previous report (1992~2006)

        Background: There have been recent global changes in the incidence and particularly the management of melanoma yet there are few systematic studies done on these topics in Korea. Objectives: We have previously reported the clinicopathological features of 103 cutaneous malignant melanomas and the factors that affect the prognosis of melanoma. With the introduction of sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) in mid 2006 it is expected that there would be some changes in prognosis of melanoma patients in addition to clinical pattern. This will be the content of this report. Methods: A total of 141 patients with malignant melanoma were enrolled in this retrospective study. The hospital charts and histopathological slides of patients with malignant melanoma with at least 1 year follow up diagnosed at Kyungpook National University Hospital from mid 2006 to 2012 were reviewed. Results: 1. Of the various types Acral lentiginous melanoma was the most common (70.2%). 2. Compared to previous report the overall survival of melanoma patients of SLNB era is significantly higher (Mean survival rate 55.3 vs 79.3 % p<0.01) and particularly in stage III (25.0 vs 81.9 % p=0.025). 3. Of the prognostic factors thickness ulceration age mitosis and sex thickness and sex had a significant correlation with survival. Conclusion: In conclusion remarkable changes in the prognosis of melanoma patients of overall and stage III with the introduction of SLNB was revealed.

        The Role of Radiation Therapy for the Extramammary Paget’s Disease of the Vulva ; Experience of 3 Cases

        We have experienced three cases of extramammary Paget's disease (EMPD) of the vulva that received radiation therapy (RT). Here, we analyze the efficacy of RT and include a literature survey. Three patients with EMPD of the vulva were treatedwith curative RT between 1993 and 1998. One of the patients had associated underlying adenocarcinoma of the vulva. The total doses of radiation administered were 54∼78 Gy/6∼8 weeks. Radiation fields encompassed 2 to 3 cm outer margins free from all visible disease including or not including the inguinal area using a 9 MeV electron or a 6 MV photon beam. Follow-up durations after radiotherapy were 0.6∼11 years. Complete response was obtained in all three patients. Marginal failure occurred in one patient, and another patient withunderlying adenocarcinoma treated by vulvectomy with bilateral inguinal lymph node dissection followed by external RT showed no relapse. Radiation induced sideeffects were transient acute confluent wet desquamation in the treated area resulting in mild late atrophic skin changes. Although surgery is currently considered the preferredprimary treatment for EMPD, it has a high relapse rate due to the multifocal nature of the disease. We conclude that RT is of benefit in some selected cases of EMPD.

        A New Control Scheme of Class-E Electronic Ballast with Low Crest Factor

        In this paper, a new control scheme of Class-E inverter for reducing the crest factor of electronic ballasts for fluorescent lamps using Pulse-Frequency-Modulation (PFM) is Introduced The lifetime of the lamps is guaranteed by decreasing the lamp crest factor and also voltage stress of the switch is significantly decreased by a new scheme although conventional Class-E Inverter is used In this paper. The proposed PFM control scheme didn't use any auxiliary circuit. The proposed control strategy is executed by feeding back the Input voltage, and the zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) is ensured by maintaining constant turn-off time of the switch Therefore, the control principles of proposed method are explained in detail and its validity is verified through several simulations and experimental results.
