External lyogels containing prostaglandin E₁ethyl ester(PGE₁-EE), a produrg of prostaglandin E₁(PGE₁) as a therapeutic agent for erectile dysfunction, were formulated to overcome the aqueous instability and enhance the percutaneous absorption. Lyogels of PGE₁-EE were prepared with ethanol (EtOH)/proplyene glycol (PG) cosolvent system as a vehicle, cineol as an enhancer, and hydroxypropylcellusose as a gelling agent. In vitro percutaneous absorption studies were performed to determine the rate of PGE₁ absorption through rat or hairless mouse skin. The permeability of PGE₁-EE lyogel with enhancer was 16-fold greater than that of lyogel without enhancer. Cosolvent produced 9-fold increase in percutaneous absorption. Pharmacodynamic effects of lyogels were evaluated in mature male cats in terms of intracavernosal pressure (ICP). Lyogles containing 0.01% of PGE₁-EE showed higher ICP compared to intraurethral preparation of PGE₁(1%) and enhancer-free control lyogel. The shelf-life (t_(10%) of lyogel at refrigerated condition (4℃) was calculated as 928 days, which is 4.2 times longer than that of control hydrogel. As a result, PGE₁-EE was formulated successfully to a lyogel system with a selective enhancer and cosolvent system for the topical delivery of PGE₁.

In this paper, a recognition of Korean affricate spoken by 3 designated talker, is implemented experimentally, The starting point of affricate is detected from the first predictor coefficient of a 12-pole linear predictive coding (LPC) analysis and phonemic segmentation is done through measuring short time energy and zero crossing rate. By this segmentation method, the duration of an aspirate can be mearsured in order to detect an aspirate or not. After calculated 12-pole LPC coefficients, duration of a aspirate and affricate, recognition experimentation is done using Log Likelihood Ratio. Experimental result is achieved 85% recognition rate by 3 dependent speaker.
계측용 포터블 ESPI장치에 의한 강구조물의 결함 및 진동해석에 관한 연구

평판의 진동모드와 진동수의 실험적 해석을 비접촉 광학적 방법인 ESPI법을 이용하여 상세히 기술하였다. ESPI를 이용하여 진동모드와 진동수를 측정하기 위해 두 개의 다른 재료 로 된 시험편을 준비하고 세장비의 변화에 따라 두 개의 다른 가진점을 택해 가진 하였다. 측정된 결과는 유한요소해석(FEA) 및 Warburton이 제안한 이론해석과 정성적으로 비교하였다. 실험적 결과는 이론해석 결과는 물론 FEA 결과와도 잘 일치함을 알수 있었다. 결과적으로 ESPI 법이 진동모드와 진동수의 고정도 해석에 이용할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

<P>In order to reutilize the spent metallic titanium chips, TiO2 photocatalysts were prepared using the self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) method, and were characterized by N2 gas adsorption, X-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscope, particle size distribution. Also, their photocatalytic activities were evaluated using methylene blue as a model organic compound. It was confirmed that the crystal structure of TiO2 prepared by SHS method was relatively homogeneous powder of rutile type. Optimum conditions for photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue under UV-C irradiation were methylene blue 9.5 ppm in solution and at amount of TiO2 added of 0.02 g/L. In addition, it was found that the photocatalytic activity for methylene blue degradation over the prepared TiO2 particles was positively related with BET specific surface area.</P>

Background/Aims: Prognostic factors related to the postoperative survival of patients with peripheral cholangiocarcinoma (PCC) are not well documented. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical and pathologic factors that might influence the postoperative survival of patients with PCC. Methods: Twenty-nine patients with PCC underwent laparotomy between September 1994 and September 1999. Fourteen clinicopathologic factors influencing postoperative survival were analyzed in nineteen patients who underwent hepatic resection (resection group). Ten patients had unresectable advanced tumor (unresectable group). Results: In the resection group, the overall 1-, 2-, and 3-year survival rate was 51.4%, 45.0%, and 28.1%, respectively (median survival of 17.6 months). The median survival in the unresectable group was 4.1 months and no patient lived longer than 1 year. In univariate survival analysis, tumor size and perineural invasion were correlated significantly with overall survival. The survival of patients who underwent resection with positive margin was significantly longer than that of the unresectable group. Conclusions: An aggressive surgical approach provides the best chance for long-term survival of patients with PCC. Tumor size and perineural invasion may be considered as prognostic factors for postoperative survival, but a large, long-term study is needed.

A bent electrode structure is proposed in the super in-plane switching (S-IPS) liquid crystal (LC), as it can reduce the response time without loss of transmittance in the bright state. The electrode angle in each position of the bent electrode was optimized to simultaneously achieve high transmittance and fast response time. The electro-optical characteristics of the proposed LC cell structure were experimentally compared with those of the conventional cell. It was observed that the response time became over 8% shorter without loss of transmittance when the proposed bent structure was applied.

Mesenchymal hamartoma of the liver (MHL) is a rare benign tumor usually found in childhood, especially during the first two years. MHL is extremely rare in adults. Most reported cases present with a slow growing abdominal mass. It is thought to be a developmental anomaly and consists of bile ducts, hepatocytes and mesenchymal tissue. We report a case of mesenchymal hamartoma of the liver in an adult male with a brief review of the literature.

Pseudomembranous colitis (PMC) is known to be associated with the administration of antibiotics which alter normal gastrointestinal flora and allow overgrowth of Clostridium difficile. Most cases of rifampicin-induced PMC are seen in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis, but not with gastrointestinal tuberculosis. We report a case of PMC associated with rifampicin therapy in a patient with gastrointestinal tuberculosis. A 65-year-old female patient with rectal cancer and gastrointestinal tuberculosis was admitted due to abdominal pain and diarrhea. She was treated with anti-tuberculosis agents containing rifampicin. On colonoscopic examination, mucoid exudates and yellowish plaque lesions were observed. Anti-tuberculosis agents were stopped, and the patient was treated with metro-nidazole. Symptoms were relieved and did not recur when all the anti-tuberculosis agents except rifampicin were started again. When a patient complains of abdominal pain or diarrhea while taking rifampicin, the physician should consider the possibility of rifampicin-associated PMC. (Korean J Gastroenterol 2009;53:53-56)
