The pathobiologic process of arterial stenosis following balloon angioplasty continues to be an enigmatic problem in clinical settings. This study investigates the ability of demethoxycurcumin, a curcuminoid isolated from Radix Curcumae, to attenuate balloon injury-induced neointima(NI) formation in the rat carotid artery. It was found that demethoxycurcumin induced inducible heme oxygenase(HO-1) expression and inhibited dose-dependently cellular proliferation in rat vascular smooth muscle cells. Perivascular application of demethoxycurcumin immediately following injury significantly reduced NI area and NI thickness 2 weeks post-injury. Interestingly, treatment with tin-protoporphyrin IX, a HO inhibitor, reversed the effects of demethoxycurcumin on NI formation. These results implicate demethoxycurcumin as a potent new therapeutic agent that is capable of reducing post-angioplasty arterial stenosis through induction of the HO-1 expression.

As IC technology has been developed, SCF(Switched Capacitor filter)is in the limelight by means of filter circuit which can fabricate L-SI and nowadays it has integrated LSI circuits by using MOS technology.But as SCF consists of MOS switches, capacitors and op amps, it is clear that the ability of filter performance depend on the general characteristics of op amps. In this paper, we have tried to design CMOS circuits for YLSI and also presented the simplified op amp design method with ±5V power source.After an example about SCF op amp design was presented, its characteristics are simulated by SPICE 2G.Moreover, this design method would be used in general CMOS op amp design.

Bleomycin이 Mouse 간장의 Alkaline Phosphatase 활성에 미치는 영향

Bleomycin hydrochloride isolated from the Streptomyces veticillus has been widely used as an anticancer drug. In exhibits specific antineoplastic activity against squamous epithelial carcinomas of the skin. Bleomycin causes inhibition of DNA and protein synthesis by incorporating bithiazole group of the drug into DNA. The author undertook the present study to investigate the effect of bleomycin on the alkaline phosphatase activity in the mouse liver. The experimental animals were sacrificed at 6, 12, 24, and 48 hours after administration of 150 mg/kg of bleomycin. The activity of lkaline phosphatase was observed by Gomori's method for histochemical study. The results were as follows. The activity of alkaline phosphatase was decreased in the entire hepatic lobule of the 12 hours belomycin treated group and recovered in the 24 hours bleomycin treated group. Consequently, it is suggested that bleomycin has the cytotoxic effect on the hepatocytes.

言語의 相對性에 對한 小考

Miller와 McNeil(1969) 그리고 Lenneberg(1967)가 결론을 내린 바와 같이 기억력에 관한 것이외에는 언어의 상대적 이론에 대한 확정적인 실증적 뒷받침은 없다. 현재로서는 사유와 지각이 언어에 의해서 영향을 받는 유일한 부분은 축적된 정보와 기억부분밖에 없는 듯하다. 그 좋은 예는 Carroll과 Casagrande(195)가 Navajo인디안과 Boston 어린이들을 대상으로 행한 식별시험이다. 기억이 직접적으로 관계되지 않았을 경과에는 결과는 불확실하게 나타난다. Lenneberh(1967)은 명칭기억용이도를 바탕으로 해서 언어가 사유를 지배하고 있는지도 모른다고 말했다. 어떤 특정 언어에서 명칭이 확연하게 고착되어 있는 개념들은 그 언어를 말하는 사람들이 분명히 지적할 수 있는 개념들일 것이다. 그러나 이런 이론을 뒷받침해 주는 증거가 희소하다고 Lenneberg는 인정하고 있다. Clomsky의 생성문법이론이 도래한 이후 우리의 관심을 언어의 상대성보다는 본유관념(innate ideas)과 언어의 보편요소(Linguistic universals)에 더욱 기울어지고 있다.

農業機械修理센터 實態調査分析에 關한 硏究

A survey work was conducted to investigate the status of regional farm machinery service center and to evaluate their capability by which after-service and repair and maintenance work could be executed. Questionaires answered by 137 service centers among the total 274 service centers were analyzed. The results obtained from the analysis are as follows; 1. In order to evaluate the capability of repair and maintenance work executed by the regional service center, the career which repair men were educated and/or trained relative to farm machinery are analyzed. As the result of this analysis, it is known that less than 10 per cent of them have the career educated and/or trained for farm machinery repair and maintenance work. Therefor, it may be desirable that the regular educational program for farm machinery repair and maintenance workers should be strengthened to improve the capability or quality and that more qualified repairmen are employed by the service centers. 2. It is known that the determinations of the number of repairmen and the level of equipments installed would be very critical, because the quantity of repair and maintenance work are concentrated during farming seasons such as June and Octover. The countermeasure to overcome the shortage of repair work specialists and facilities of service center should be established. 3. The average percentage of service centers having the tools and equipments necessary for executing the effective repair and maintenance works was relatively low with 51 per cent for the tools and 28 per cent for the equipments. Further work may be necessary to determine the kinds, quantities, and sizes of tools and equipments adequate for regional service centers. 4. The spare parts of farm machinery were not supplied satisfactorily to the service centers through the whole year. To maintain an adequate numbers and kinds of spare parts in the service center, a systematic manufacturing and distributing system should be studied.

판타지로서의 시 : 『황무지』의 정신분석학적 읽기 A Psychoanalytic Reading of The Waste Land

One of the cogent reasons why we can read The Waste Land is provided by no other than Eliot himself. Refuting many critics' claim that it is a "criticism of the contemporary world", Eliot said that the poem was simply written as "the relief of a personal and wholly insignificant grouse against life." Even though we do not really know how the poem was written, we can not deny the claim that a psychoanalytical reading of the poem is a very valid approach to it. One very convincing piece of evidence that we are on the right track in reading this poem from a psychoanalytic point of view can be found in the many expressions evincing ambivalent attitude toward life and death. The fact that the poem begins with a very impressive image of the Sybil who shows an ambivalent attitude toward life undeniably constitutes a firm basis for this argument. In the poem we come across a semantically very bizarre phrase: The corpse you planted last year in your garden, /Has it begun to sprout? This expression shows the mixture of libido and thanatos lurking in the unconscious of T. S. Eliot himself. Tiresias himself can be seen as another very interesting representation of Eliot's unconscious ambivalence toward his sexual identity. Read from a psychoanalytical point of view, the poem early shows Eliot's private fantasy deep in his unconscious. As psychoanalysts say, this poem clearly shows how Eliot's repressed desire comes to the surface of consciousness in a bizarre and twisted manner.

T.S. 엘리엇과 영화 기법

T. S. Eliot has literally broken new grounds for poetry writing in English literature. One of his innovating concepts is that poetry is no longer a linear presentation of ideas based on narrative structure, but a simultaneous existence of ideas in a spatial form. This has become the basis for his critical ideas of poetry as well as his principle of poetry writing. Seeds of spatial form can be found in his idea of tradition as simultaneous order, and his concept of objective correlative. Eliot's idea of spatial form originates in movie techniques. Movie has as its principal method of presenting images the manipulation and arrangement of images in an arbitrary and artificial manner. This method results in montage which means the mosaic of incongruent images in one place and at the same time. The cinema techniques in Eliot's poetry is most clearly found in The Waste Land. The poem, originally written by Eliot all by himself, has ended up in being reduced by half by undergoing Pound’s editing, which has made the poem into an extended imagist poem. The extended style of Imagism is best manifested by cinematic montage. Tiresias exemplifies this method to the fullest. He, for example, embodies two sexes, male and female, in his own body. He does not, however, represent harmonious coexistence of two sexes. He shows, on the contrary, conflict and clash of the two sexes in himself as a montage. We can also notice silent movie techniques in the description of the typist’s affair with the carbuncular youth. Investigation into movie techniques used by Eliot opens a new way to understanding his poetry.

Eight high school games of Rubgy football for the president's cup of Taeku MBC were analized to observe the frequency of the acts of suspension and continuation according to the rules of Rugby football game The acts of continuation (92.25±19.72 times/game) took place more frequently than those of suspension (91.25±9.60 times/game). Among the acts of suspension, the line out, and the drop out occurred more frequently in the first half than in the second half. And these facts were significant statistically (p<0.01)
