어머니의 양육태도와 유아의 사회적 능력의 관계에 대한 유아 정서조절능력의 매개효과

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 어머니의 양육태도와 유아의 사회적 능력의 관계에 대한 유아의 정서조절능력의 매개효과에 대해 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구의 대상은 유아교육기관에 재원중인 만 5세 유아 189명과 그들의 어머니이다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어머니의 애정?합리적 양육태도와 유아의 사회적 능력 간에 정적 상관관계가 있었고 어머니의 강압적인 양육태도와 과보호적 양육태도는 유아의 사회적 능력과 부적상관을 보였다. 둘째, 어머니의 양육태도와 유아의 사회적 능력간의 관계에 있어서 유아의 정서조절능력의 매개 역할은 다음과 같다. 어머니의 애정?합리적 양육태도는 유아의 사회적 능력에 직접적으로 영향을 미치고, 정서조절능력을 통해서도 영향을 미친다. 그러나 어머니의 강압적인 양육태도는 유아의 사회적 능력에 직접적인 영향이 없고, 정서조절능력을 통해서만 영향을 미친다. 즉 어머니의 양육태도가 강압적일 때 유아의 정서조절능력은 완전 매개효과를 가진다. 반면 어머니의 양육태도가 과보호적인 경우에는 유아의 사회적 능력에 직접적인 영향도 없는 동시에 정서조절능력을 통한 영향력도 보이지 않았다. 본 연구의 결과는 유아의 사회적 능력을 발달시키기 위해 어머니의 양육태도를 긍정적으로 개선시키고 동시에 유아의 정서조절능력을 향상시키는 교육 및 상담 프로그램 개발을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있다

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to investigate the mediating effect of children’s emotional regulation on the relationship between mothers’ parenting attitude and children’s social competence. The study sample consisted of 189 children aged 5 and their mothers. Results of the study were as follows. First, mothers’ affectionate and reasonable parenting attitudes were positively associated with children’s social competence. Mothers’ coercive and controlling parenting attitude and overprotective attitude were negatively associated with children’s social competence. Second, mothers’ affectionate and reasonable parenting attitude had a direct effect on children’s social competence as well as an indirect effect through children’s emotional regulation. Mothers’ coercive and controlling parenting attitude had only an indirect effect on children’s social competence through children’s emotional regulation. In other words, when mothers’ parenting attitudes were coercive, children’s emotional regulation completely mediated the relationship between parenting attitude and children’s social competence. However, when mothers were overprotective, maternal parenting attitudes had neither direct effect on children’s social competence nor indirect effect through children’s emotional regulation. The results of this study can be used as preliminary data to develop educational and counseling programs intended to enhance children’s emotional regulation and improve mothers’ parenting attitude in positive ways for the purpose of developing children’s social competence.
