Mutations of ARX and non-syndromic intellectual disability in Chinese population

        Yufei Wu,Huan Zhang,Xiaofen Liu,Zhangyan Shi,Hongling Li,Zhibin Wang,Xiaoyong Jie,Shao-Ping Huang,Fu-Chang Zhang,Junlin Li,Ke-Jin Zhang,Xiao-Cai Gao 한국유전학회 2019 Genes & Genomics Vol.41 No.1

Mutations of Aristaless-related homeobox (ARX) gene were looked as the third cause of non-syndromic intellectual disability (NSID), while the boundary between true disease-causing mutations and non-disease-causing variants within this gene remains elusive. To investigate the relationship between ARX mutations and NSID, a panel comprising six reported causal mutations of the ARX was detected in 369 sporadic NSID patients and 550 random participants in Chinese. Two mutations, c.428_451 dup and p.G286S, may be disease-causing mutations for NSID, while p.Q163R and p.P353L showed a great predictive value in female NSID diagnosis with significant associations (X2 = 19.60, p = 9.54e−6 for p.Q163R; X2 = 25.70, p = 4.00e−07 for p.P353L), carriers of these mutations had an increased risk of NSID of more than fourfold. Detection of this panel also predicted significant associations between genetic variants of the ARX gene and NSID (p = 3.73e−4). The present study emphasized the higher genetic burden of the ARX gene on NSID in the Chinese population, molecular analysis of this gene should be considered for patients presenting NSID of unknown etiology.

Optimization of 3G Mobile Network Design Using a Hybrid Search Strategy

Wu Yufei,Pierre Samuel The Korea Institute of Information and Commucation 2005 Journal of communications and networks Vol.7 No.4

This paper proposes an efficient constraint-based optimization model for the design of 3G mobile networks, such as universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS). The model concerns about finding a set of sites for locating radio network controllers (RNCs) from a set of pre-defined candidate sites, and at the same time optimally assigning node Bs to the selected RNCs. All these choices must satisfy a set of constraints and optimize an objective function. This problem is NP-hard and consequently cannot be practically solved by exact methods for real size networks. Thus, this paper proposes a hybrid search strategy for tackling this complex and combinatorial optimization problem. The proposed hybrid search strategy is composed of three phases: A constraint satisfaction method with an embedded problem-specific goal which guides the search for a good initial solution, an optimization phase using local search algorithms, such as tabu algorithm, and a postoptimization phase to improve solutions from the second phase by using a constraint optimization procedure. Computational results show that the proposed search strategy and the model are highly efficient. Optimal solutions are always obtained for small or medium sized problems. For large sized problems, the final results are on average within $5.77\%$ to $7.48\%$ of the lower bounds.

Design Methodology of LLC Resonant Converters for Single-stage Power Factor Correction Application

        Zhou Yufei,Liu Shuai,Ren Jiaqi,Wu Qibin,Hong Feng,Shen Ang,Xu Wei 대한전기학회 2021 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.16 No.5

This paper proposes a new design methodology for LLC resonant converter with single-stage power factor correction (PFC) function. By designing the achievable gain of resonant tank at a certain point of the AC voltage higher than the required gain, its gain will satisfy the requirement of the whole AC line voltage cycle and lead to a good single-stage PFC design. By adjusting switching frequency and changing voltage gain along with the AC voltage, the converter can realize PFC with high effi ciency. The proposed converter inherits the advantages of the traditional LLC resonant converter, including soft switching of power switches across the whole load range, buck-boost power conversion ability which benefi ts the optimization of the down-stream DC-DC converter. Gain characteristic and design consideration for PFC purpose are analyzed in detail. Experimental results are presented to show its validity and feasibility.

A Passive Lossless Soft-Switching Single Inductor Dual Buck Full-Bridge Inverter

Hong, Feng,Wu, Yu,Ye, Zunjing,Ji, Baojian,Zhou, Yufei The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2018 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.18 No.2

A novel passive lossless soft-switching single inductor dual buck full-bridge inverter (PLSSIDBFBI) is presented in this paper. To accomplish this, a passive lossless snubber circuit is added to a dual buck full-bridge inverter. Therefore, the advantages of the dual buck full-bridge inverter are included in the proposed inverter, and the inverter has just one filter inductor, which can decrease the system volume and improve the integration. In addition, the passive lossless snubber circuit achieves soft-switching by its own resonance, and all of the energy stored in the passive lossless snubber circuit can be transferred to load. A comparison between eight topologies is performed in this paper, and the analysis shows that the proposed soft-switching inverter topology has high reliability and efficiency. Finally, experimental results obtained with a 1 kW prototype verify the theoretical analysis and demonstrate the prominent characteristics of a reduced switching loss and improved efficiency.

High Precision Electromagnetic Momentum Positioning with Current Loop

        Chao ZHANG,Yufei ZHAO,Hong WU 한국자기학회 2017 Journal of Magnetics Vol.22 No.1

A novel high precision spatial positioning method utilizing the electromagnetic momentum, i.e., Electromagnetic Momentum Positioning (EMP), is proposed in this paper. By measuring the momentum of the electromagnetic field around the small current loop, the relative position between the sensor and the current loop is calculated. This method is particularly suitable for the application of close-range and high-precision positioning, e.g., data gloves and medical devices in personal healthcare, etc. The simulation results show that EMP method can give a high accuracy with the positioning error less than 1 mm, which is better than the traditional magnetic positioning devices with the error greater than 1 cm. This method lays the foundation for the application of data gloves to meet the accurate positioning requirement, such as the high precision interaction in Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and personal wearable devices network.

Porous Titanium Scaffolds with Aligned Lamellar Pore Channels by Directional Freeze‑Casting from Aqueous TiH2 Slurries

        Mengchen Mao,Yufei Tang,Kang Zhao,Zihao Duan,Cong Wu 대한금속·재료학회 2019 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.25 No.2

Porous titanium scaffolds with aligned lamellar pore channels and smooth inner walls were fabricated by directional freezecasting using aqueous TiH2slurries. The formation of dendrites was inhibited by increasing the TiH2content in slurry. Thepore structures and compression strengths of porous titanium scaffolds that were made with different solid contents werecharacterized. The formation mechanism of aligned lamellar pore channels and the reason for the improvement of compressionstrength were analyzed. With increasing TiH2content in slurry, the open porosity reduced from 38.57 to 29.03% whilelamellar spacing decreased. Young’s modulus was decreased with the increasing open porosity. Directional lamellar porechannels were obtained by controlling the TiH2content in slurry, which can reduce the number of branches and preventstress concentrations during compression. Also, the porous titanium scaffolds prepared by this process had a good biocompatibilitywith osteoblasts.

Feasibility of a Clinical-Radiomics Model to Predict the Outcomes of Acute Ischemic Stroke

        Zhou Yiran,Wu Di,Yan Su,Xie Yan,Zhang Shun,Lv Wenzhi,Qin Yuanyuan,Liu Yufei,Liu Chengxia,Lu Jun,Li Jia,Zhu Hongquan,Liu Weiyin Vivian,Liu Huan,Zhang Guiling,Zhu Wenzhen 대한영상의학회 2022 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.23 No.8

Objective: To develop a model incorporating radiomic features and clinical factors to accurately predict acute ischemic stroke (AIS) outcomes. Materials and Methods: Data from 522 AIS patients (382 male [73.2%]; mean age ± standard deviation, 58.9 ± 11.5 years) were randomly divided into the training (n = 311) and validation cohorts (n = 211). According to the modified Rankin Scale (mRS) at 6 months after hospital discharge, prognosis was dichotomized into good (mRS ≤ 2) and poor (mRS > 2); 1310 radiomics features were extracted from diffusion-weighted imaging and apparent diffusion coefficient maps. The minimum redundancy maximum relevance algorithm and the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator logistic regression method were implemented to select the features and establish a radiomics model. Univariable and multivariable logistic regression analyses were performed to identify the clinical factors and construct a clinical model. Ultimately, a multivariable logistic regression analysis incorporating independent clinical factors and radiomics score was implemented to establish the final combined prediction model using a backward step-down selection procedure, and a clinical-radiomics nomogram was developed. The models were evaluated using calibration, receiver operating characteristic (ROC), and decision curve analyses. Results: Age, sex, stroke history, diabetes, baseline mRS, baseline National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score, and radiomics score were independent predictors of AIS outcomes. The area under the ROC curve of the clinical-radiomics model was 0.868 (95% confidence interval, 0.825–0.910) in the training cohort and 0.890 (0.844–0.936) in the validation cohort, which was significantly larger than that of the clinical or radiomics models. The clinical radiomics nomogram was well calibrated (p > 0.05). The decision curve analysis indicated its clinical usefulness. Conclusion: The clinical-radiomics model outperformed individual clinical or radiomics models and achieved satisfactory performance in predicting AIS outcome

An efficient method for the compressive behavior of FRP-confined concrete cylinders

Xinglang Fan,Zhimin Wu,Yufei Wu,Jianjun Zheng 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2013 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.12 No.4

Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) jackets have been widely used as an effective tool for the strengthening and rehabilitation of concrete structures, especially damaged concrete columns. Therefore, a clear understanding of the compressive behavior of FRP-confined concrete is essential. The objective of this paper is to develop a simple efficient method for predicting the compressive strength, the axial strain at the peak stress, and the stress-strain relationship of FRP-confined concrete. In this method, a compressive strength model is established based on Jefferson’s failure surface. With the proposed strength model, the strength of FRP-confined concrete can be estimated more precisely. The axial strain at the peak stress is then evaluated using a damage-based formula. Finally, a modified stress-strain relationship is derived based on Lam and Teng’s model. The validity of the proposed compressive strength and strain models and the modified stress-strain relationship is verified with a wide range of experimental results collected from the research literature and obtained from the self-conducted test. It can be concluded that, as a competitive alternative, the proposed method can be used to predict the compressive behavior of FRP-confined concrete with reasonable accuracy.

Hydrogen production by catalytic steam reforming of waste cooking oil over La-Ni/ZSM-5 catalyst

        Xiao Na,Zhao Rui,Liu Yufei,Zhan Wei,Xu Yonghui,Wu Zhengshun 한국화학공학회 2023 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.40 No.9

Ni/ZSM-5 catalyst is one of the promising catalysts to improve the catalytic steam reforming of waste cooking oil (WCO) for hydrogen production. Furthermore, the introduction of lanthanum (La) plays a huge role in inhibiting metal sintering and carbon deposition and improving the stability and activity of the catalyst. This study investigated the effects of reaction temperature (600–800 °C), steam to carbon molar ratio (S/C), n Ni/ZSM-5 (n=5, 10, and 15 wt%), and the addition of promoter (La) on the experimentally generated hydrogen yield and carbon deposition. Results showed that the experiment used 6 wt% La-10 wt% Ni/ZSM-5 at 0.1 MPa, 700 °C, space-time (τ)=0.56 gcatalyst/gWCO, and S/C=5.25, which obtained the yield of H2 was 154.12 mol/kg, carbon deposition was 5.38%. Therefore, Ni-modified catalyst added La to improve the catalyst coking resistance and prevent carbon formation. Moreover, La can further promote the dispersion of nickel on the surface of the carrier and improve the catalytic performance of the catalyst for steam reforming reaction.
