        Ultrastructural changes during spermatogenesis in the hamster testis was studied by electron microscope. The purpose of the present study is to ascertain the ultrastructural changes of various germ cells, Sertoli and Leydig cells. The results were as follows: various staged germ cells were embedded in cytoplasm of Sertoli cell. Leydig cell contained numerous mitochondria with tubular cristae and well developed smooth endoplasmic reticulum. Spermatogonia were located close to the basal layer. They were spherical to somewhat oval cells with large nucleus. Spermatocytes were connected to each other until the late spermatid stage by intercellular bridge. An acrosome was located apical head and microtubule arrangement of flagellum was shown typical "9+2" characteristics. In conclusion, spermatogenesis involves the development, separation and maturation of germ cells, and Sertoli and Leydig cells show similar ultrastructures compared with ones of other mammalian species.

      • 재생중인 흰쥐 간의 형태형성과 메탈로사이오닌 분포

        Metallothionein(MT) is a low molecular weight (approximately 6,000~7,000Da), cysteine-rich protein (approximately 22~23%), metal-binding protein. MT is known to be induced by surgical operation and chemical agent, as carbon tetrachloride(CCI_(4)) and cadmium(Cd). The goal of the present study was to determine the distribution of the protein on regenerating rat liver after partial hepatectomy(PH). The results were as follow: Size of the remained liver increased at 1day after PH. Morphological changes were observed such as destroyed hepatocyte plate around central vein, enlarged nuclear cytoplasmic ratio and increased the number of hepatocytes with two nuclei. Expression of MT mRNA started to increase at 30 minutes, reached to maximum at 1 hour and maintained at 8 hours after PH. The level of MT mRNA showed similar to that of control group at 12 hours. On immunohistochemistry, in all groups treated with primary antibody, immunoreactivity indicating the presence of MT appeared moderately throughout both the cytoplasm and nucleus of rat hepatocyte. On the immunohistochemical analysis, immunoreactivities both in the cytoplasm and nucleus appeared after 4 hours, reached to maximum at 12 hours, and then it showed similar to those of normal control. These results suggested that the remained liver immediately entered cell proliferation and this MT protein during the process may be associated with transfer of factors needed to cell reproduction from the cytoplasm to the nucleus for regeneration of the liver after PH.

      • 생쥐 정소 발달과정에 대한 미세구조적 연구

        Differentiation and development of the mouse testis were studied by light and electron microscopes from the newborn up to the adult stage. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the morphological changes of developing germ cells in seminiferous tubule and Leydig cells in interstitial tissue during the developmental process of mouse testis. The results were as follows: the seminiferous tubule diameter began to increase from 1 day and was fully developed at the 30th day after birth, particularly, the seminiferous tubule diameter was rapidly increased between 15 days and 30 days of age. Germ cells of various stages were embedded in cytoplasm of the Sertoli cell. Leydig cell contained numerous mitochondria with tubular cristae and well developed smooth endoplasmic reticulum. Spermatogonia were located close to the basal layer. Spermatocytes were connected to each other by the intercellular bridge until the late spermatid stage. An acrosome located to the head apex and the microtubule arrangement of flagellum shown the typical "9+2" pattern. At the newborn stage, the Sertoli cell and germ cells started to be already differentiated. Spermatids and immature spermatozoa were appeared at 30 days of age, and thereafter, spermatogenesis occurred actively. In conclusion, the development of mouse testis was completed after 30 days of age at which the secondary sexual characteristics and the spermatogenesis began to occur. These results suggest that ultrastructural features of developing germ cells and Leydig cell were thought to have close interrelationship with their functional accomplishment.

        A posterolateral intertransverse process fusion is generally considered to be one of the most common types of lumbar fusion and a reliable procedure. It is reported that establishment of blood supply is important for nutrition as well as for formation of new bone during bone graft healing. Since the major interosseous blood supply for vascularization of autogenous bone graft is originated from the upper and lower transverse process, the one of the transverse process can he related to rate of bony union. It can be constructed that different union rate can result from the differences in transverse process areas. In this study, the area of the transverse processes of L5 were measured in normal adult. For this purpose, Ushikata area-Curvimeter (X-PLAN 360) was used. In Results, there was no significant differences in the age, but there was differences in the gender.

        고정식 교정장치에 의한 균혈증의 발생가능성에 관한 연구

        The purpose of this study was to investigate a possibility of chronic or intermittent bacteremia in patients undergoing orthodontic treatment with fixed orthodontic appliance. Orthodontic patients who had been injured by orthodontic appliances and/or suffered from gingivitis were selected. They had not taken any antibiotics for 1 month. The number of subjects were 21 including 7 males and 14 females. Blood samples of the subjects were cultured and, IgG, IgA and IgM levels in the serum were quantified. The author found following results. 1. No bacterial growth was found in 7-day culture of all the samples. 2. The immunoglobulin levels in serum were confined in normal range. 3. This study could not deny the possibility of transient bacteremia episode undergoing orthodontic treatment.

        상아질 접착제의 미세누출과 변연부 혼화층

        The purpose of this study was to compare microleakage and marginal hybrid layer in class V restorations using two one-bottle adhesives and one self-etching adhesive. Class V cavity preparations with occlusal margins in enamel and gingival margins in dentin were prepared on buccal and lingual surfaces of 30 extracted human molar teeth. Prepared teeth were randomly divided into there treatment groups (n=30) and restored with three adhesives and composites: Single Bond/Filtek Z-250 (Group 1), Prime&BondNT/EsthetㆍX(Group 2), Unifil Bond/Unifil F (Group 3). For microleakage, samples were stored in room temperature water for 24 hours, thermocycled, stained with 2% methylene blue dye, sectioned into halves, scored and analysed using Mann-whitney test and Wilcoxon singed rank sum test. For marginal hybrid layer, samples were sectioned into halves with 10% phosphoric acid for 5 seconds, stored in 5% NaOCL solution for 24 hours, dried and gold coated. Occlusal and gingival margins of each sample were inspected under SEM. The results of this study were as follows; 1. Microleakage at the occlusal margins was not evident in group 1 and group 2, but it showed in group 3(p<0.05). 2. Microleakage in group 1 and group 3 was significantly lower than in group 2 at gingival margins (p<0.05). 3. Microleakage at gingival margins was greater than at occlusal margins in group 1 and group 2, but microleakage at occlusal margins was greater than at gingival margins in group 3 (p<0.05). 4. In group 1 and group 2, no gaps at occlusal margins showed. But gaps showed in group 3. Occlusal margins were free from a hybrid layer in all groups. 5. The thickness of the marginal hybrid layers was 2.5~5㎛ thick in group 5㎛ thick in group 2 and 1.5㎛ thick in group 3. 6. There was no corelation between microleakage and thickness of marginal hybrid layer. In coclusion, the effect of dentin adhesives on microleakge in class V composite restorations was excellent when one-bottle adhesives were applied on enamel margin, and it was good when a self-etching adhesive was applied on dentinal margin. There was no corelation between microleakage and thickness of marginal hybrid layer.

      • 急速凝固한 高純度 Fe―C―Si合金중의 Carbide共晶의 過冷却凝固 시뮬레이션

        This paper decribes a study of the solidification simulation with supercooling of levitation melted and rapidly solidified high purity Fe--C-Si alloys with emphasis on carbide eutectic. Newly designed growth model of carbide eutectic is proposed. From the simulation model, calculated cooling curves are derived by means of a personal computer, and compared with experimental data. The results calculated are influenced remarkably by coefficient of heat tranfer(h), latent heat of solidification(L), growth rate constant(n) and range of temperature of mushy zone. After suitable choice of h, L, n and especially temperature range of mushy zone as 100K, experimental cooling curves are duplicated by calculated. As the cooling rate exceed about l0^3K/s, graphite crystal is not formed in the high purity Fe -C-Si melts.

        정상교합과 부정교합에서의 상·하악골과 제 1 대구치 위치에 관한 비교연구

        There has been so much controversies about the position of upper and lower jaws, and their first permanent molars in normal occlusion and Angle's class ⅠㆍⅡㆍⅢ malocclusions. So, the purpose of this study is to compare the position of upper and lower jaws, and their first molars in normal occlusion and Angle's class ⅠㆍⅡㆍⅢ malocclusions by lateral cephalometric analysis. The sample consisted of one hundred and twenty girls(thirty in each group) who had completed growth. The findings of this study were as follows : 1. In class Ⅰ malocclusion, both maxilla and mandible were slightly posterior position than normal occlusion, but they showed harmonious relationship. 2. In class Ⅱ malocclusion, the mandible was greatly retruded, and the maxilla was also slightly retruded to the cranial base as compared with normal occlusion. 3. In class Ⅲ malocclusion, the maxilla was significantly retruded to the cranial base, but no significant difference was found in mandibular position as compared with normal occlusion. 4. The maxillary first molar was located at posterior position in class Ⅱ malocclusion, and anterior position in class Ⅲ malocclusion to the cranium, so that the rotation of mandible was influenced by that. 5. The mandibular first molar showed constant relationship to the mandible in all four group, but different position to the cranial base in direct proportion to the mandibular position. 6. On the treatment planning of class Ⅲ malocclusion, it seems to be better to promote the mandibular horizontal growth by ingibiting the verbical growth of masillary molar area, and on the treatment planning of class Ⅲ malocclusion, it seems to be better to promote the antero-inferior growth of maxilla and to promote the mandibular vertical growth by inducing the vertical growth of maxillary molar area.

Four seasons are the largest mediation of whole climate of one year. The cold and the heat have the relationship of mutual intervention. The dampness and the dryness have it also. In this process they raise various climate appearance. And that various climate appearance influence the whole lives on the earth. This paper is concerned with the classification of them.

      • Squalene Adjuvant를 이용한 단백질 항원의 세포성 면역반응 유도

        To investigate the role of adjuvant for cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) induction, squalene-based adjuvant was studied its capability eliciting to the induction of cellular immunity as well as humoral immunity to exogeneous proteins. Ovalbumin (OVA) was used as model proteins. It was demonstrated that antigen formulation consisted of metabolizable oil squalene mixed with Tween 80 and pluronic L121 (S/TJ121) could induced the antigen specific CTL responses and antibodies irrespective of immunization routes in mice. We also demonstrated that this antigen formulation was a inducer of CD8+, major histocompatibility complex(MHC) class I-restricted, and antigen-specific C;1'Ls. These data suggest that the squalene-based emulsion system is a potent adjuvant inducing cellular immunity as well as humoral immunity.
