        Notes on Aspidiotus chinensis Kuwana and Muramatsu collected on Cymbidium imported from China (Hemiptera: Diaspididae)

        Aspidiotus chinensis Kuwana and Muramatsu, a significant economic pest of Chinese cymbidium orchids, was first taken in quarantine on Cymbidium from China at Pusan seaport in the Republic of Korea in 1996, but currently a re-examination of specimens collected was identified as this species. This paper will provide additional basic information on diagnostic features, current distribution and economic importance of A. chinensis Kuwana and Muramatsu

        공동주택단지내 부대복리시설의 공간변용에 관한 연구

        This study proposes the problems of the standards enacted by the related regulations in establishing service facilities throughout the field study and survey on the spacial changing patterns and the application status on the service facilities in apartment estates, which become more important, as the community spirit is more required. It also proves that in spite of the strict and uniform regulations, the apartment residents have went through inhabitance process with spacial changes of each facility or establishment of required facility according to their necessity. The spacial changes of service facilities can be considered to be resulted from the uniformed and standardized criteria. The survey result points out that the present standards, which cannot be complied with residents' living conditions and diverse characteristics, should be improved rationally. In order to, therefore, apply the service facilities in apartment estates as a base of improving the community spirit through supporting residents' self-governing activities, this study provides the following improvements which the planning standards of service facilities should have to be revised to: First, the standards should be changed from those simply proportioned with the number of households to those securing the area to support the community activities: Second, the total area of service facilities, which is insufficient presently, should be increased; Third, the planning standard of each service facility should be integrated into an unified standard by the name of community facility to apply various programs according to residents' needs: and, Fourth, the spaces of service facilities should be flexible in planning to take users' self-governing programs, and users' self-control of their applications should be guaranteed.

        공동주택단지내 공개공지 확보를 위한 총합설계제도의 운영방안에 관한 연구

        This study describes the operation method and the status about the Comprehensive Design System to make Open Space has been applied in multi-family housing in Japan. This study aims to clear the planning control system that Comprehensive Design System is to lead maintain the open space and to analyze the type and level of incentive to lead the open space by Comprehensive Design System. In order to analyze that, this paper conducted the quantitative analysis of 116 cases that the Osaka administrative office has approved from 1996 to 2000. Research results are as follows, 1) Comprehensive Design System for the multi-family housing is classified to Urban housing Comprehensive Design System, Downtown Residence Comprehensive Design System, Super-block Site Residence Comprehensive Design System, and Urban housing Comprehensive Design System is the most representative one in Osaka. 2) Significant Open Space ratio to judge the incentive level describes the highest ratio value in Urban housing Comprehensive Design System, and the Significant Open Space ratio becomes higher with incentive level about floor area ratio. But, the relaxation of the height of sky exposure plane is not so different with the change of Significant Open Space Ratio. As a result, the relaxation of the floor area ratio is more effect on the incentive for the maintenance of open space rather than the height of sky exposure plane in multi-family housing.

        New Records of Aphelinids, Encarsia Forster (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae), in Korea

        Two species of Encarsia, Encarsia explorata (Silvestri) from Aulacaspis rosarum Borchsenius, A. yabunikkei Kuwana and Lepidosaphes pinnaeformis ($Bouch\acute{e}$), and Encarsia lutea (Masi) from Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) are newly documented in the Korean fauna of aphelinids (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae). Brief diagnostic criteria, photographs, and information on the distribution and hosts of these species are provided. Also a key to species of Encarsia from Korea is given for correct species identification. 각진장미흰깍지벌레, 참식나무흰깍지벌레와 후박나무굴깍지벌레로부터 채집된 Encarsia explorata (Silvestri) [후박굴깍지좀벌 (신칭)] 및 담배가루이로부터 채집된 Encarsia lutea (Masi) [가루이좀벌 (신칭)] 을 국내분포로 처음 보고한다. 또한 이들 종들의 검색표, 식별형질, 사진자료, 분포 및 기주 정보도 함께 제공하였다.

        Key to Species of Aulacaspis (Hemiptera: Diaspididae) Intercepted at the Republic of Korea Ports of Entry

        Six species of aulacaspis scales, Aulacaspis crawii (Cockerell), Aulacaspis madiunensis (Zehntner), Aulacaspis neospinosa Tang, Aulacaspis spinosa (Maskell), Aulacaspis tubercularis Newstead and Aulacaspis yasumatsui Takagi, have been taken in quarantine at the republic of Korea ports of entry between 1996 and 2005. We have also found the specimens of A. yasumatsui Takagi on Cycas plants from Malaysia and Taiwan and provide a key with illustrative photographs to identify intercepted specimens of Aulacaspis.

        Identification of Armored Scales (Hemiptera: Diaspididae) on Bamboos in Korea

        This work provides an identification key to adult females of six species and four genera of armored scales including a new record, Kuwanaspis hikosani (Kuwana) that may be found on bamboos (Poaceae: Arundinaria spp., Phyllostachys spp., Pseudosasa spp., and Sasa spp.) in Korea.

        Notes on Pupillarial Species of Armored Scale Insects from Korea (Hemiptera: Diaspididae)

        Two pupillarial species, Cryptoparlatorea leucaspis Lindinger and Fiorinia japonica Kuwana, are recorded for the first time in Korea. Both species were found on coniferous trees, Cryptomeria japonica and Torreya nucifera. Also an identification key, brief diagnoses, and photographs of Korean pupillarial species are provided to assist in their identification.
