The purpose of this study was about the experience of middle aged woman's aging process. The qualitative research method used was the phenomenological approach. This study tried to discover meaning of life and to understand real experiences of their life and to explore the essence of middle aged women's experience of aging. Furthermore, this study tried to establish of concept of middle age women's holistic health and to help of theoretical development to improve the health. The interviewees were 12 members. The data were collected through in-depth interviews with audiotape recording done by the investigators over a period of five months. The data were analyzed Colaizzi method, new data were continuously coded into statements, cored meanings, themes, groups of themes, and categories. The data were separated into 4 categories ; body change, feeling the miss, wise coping and planning the future. The group of themes belonging to 4 categories were body change, sexual change ; fleeting, tiredness, attachment of the youth ; acceptance, a situation as the adult, fill up the hollow feeling, management body ; dying peacefully, preparing for the senior age, being ready to pass away.

Background: The role of NO in neuropathic pain is controversial. The aim of this study was to compare neuropathic pain behavior after a NOS inhibitor or NO donor treatment and to investigate NOS activity in the dorsal root ganglia (DRG) of young and adult rats after spinal nerve injury. Methods: The effect of L-nitroarginine methylester (L-NAME) or sodium nitroprusside (SNP) on allodynia was measured in a spinal nerve ligation model of neuropathic pain. A NADPH-diaphorase (NADPH-d) histochemistry was performed on the DRG in a spinal nerve ligation model neuropathic pain. Results: Mechanical allodynia was increased after spinal nerve injury in both young and adult rats, especially more prominent in young rats. The NOS inhibitor, L-NAME, alleviated allodynia after spinal nerve ligation in young rats but not in adults. The NO donor, SNP, aggravated allodynia in a spinal nerve ligation model of neuropathic pain in young rats but in adults rats. NOS activity increased prominently in the DRG after spinal nerve ligation in young rats in contrast to adult rats. Conclusions: Severe neuropathic pain behavior may be a result of an increase of NOS activity in the DRG of young rats after spinal nerve ligation, whereas NO production may be significantly related to neuropathic pain behaviors in a spinal nerve ligation model of adult rats. To investigate low back pain in rural women, 452 housewives living in the rural areas of Kyungnam province were interviewed during August 1990, and 444 subjects completely done were used for analysis. Attack rate of low back pain during the previous six months was 50.2%. In logistic regression analysis,a history of back injury(odds ratio - 3.439) and presence of other mus-culoskeletal disorders(odds ratio=2.047)were sighificantly independent of attacks of low back pain(p<<0.001), but age and parity were not. Excluding those 70 years old and over or no parity , the frequency of parity showed a significantly independent effect as odds ratio of 1.199(p<0.01)

The present study was undertaken to determine whether combined treatment with prokinetic trimebutine and mosapride has a synergic effect on gastrointestinal motility and visceral pain associated with gastrointestinal dysfunction. To develop effective gastroprokinetic agents with greater potencies than trimebutine or mosapride for the treatment of gastrointestinal tract disease, a mixture of trimebutine and mosapride was designed and prepared. In the present study, treatment with trimebutine alone showed a dose-dependent effect on propelling movements of normal small and large intestine in mice, whereas mosapride effected only small intestine motility. Co-administration of trimebutine with mosapride, a well-established prokinetic drug, produced a synergistic influence on normal small intestine motility, but demonstrated an unclear effect on large intestine motility, with a slight tendency to reduce the propelling time. In a stress model, the small and large intestine motilities were significantly decreased. The reduction of intestine motility was restored to a normal level and the restoring effect was more pronounced in the combined treatment with trimebutine plus mosapride than treatment with trimebutine or mosapride alone. Furthermore, treatment with trimebutine plus mosapride significantly decreased acute visceral pain which was not controlled by trimebutine or mosapride alone. These data suggest that combination therapy with trimebutine plus mosapride has a synergic effect on small and large intestine motility and visceral pain control in gastrointestinal disorders

The aim of this is to examine the effects of SSP therapy on the internal carotid arteries blood flow of 24 tension type headache patients(study group) and non tension type headache patients(control group), and on the reduction of their headaches, when applied to the acupuncture points. It stimulated the acupuncture point of headache 6 place with the SSP. It measured VAS and the blood flow of the internal carotid arteries with TCD. When the internal carotid arteries blood flow of study group and control group were compared by period, a significant difference was found in the 4th period(p<.05). When the Visual Analog Scale of study group and control group were compared by period, a significant difference was found in the 4th period(p<.05). The comparison of each measurement result of the internal carotid arteries blood flow of the study group found significantly increased. The comparison of each measurement result of the VAS of study group found significantly decreased. With regard to the control group, the VAS significantly decreased. The silver spike point low frequency electrical stimulation treatment, when applied to the acupuncture point, can significantly influence the internal carotid arteries blood flow of headache patients and can significantly reduce their headaches.

In a previous study, we examined the physiological responses of male Sprague–Dawley rats over a 4-week exposure to concrete and clay cages. No general toxicological changes were observed in rats exposed to either of the two cage types in summer. Under winter conditions, however, various general toxicological effects were detected in rats housed in concrete cages, although rats housed in clay cages showed no such effects. The infrared thermographic examination indicated that skin temperature in the concrete-housed rats was abnormally low, but not so in the clay-housed rats. We examined proteomic changes in the serum of rats housed in winter in concrete and clay cages using two-dimensional differential in-gel electrophoresis and mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry. Five proteins were identified and quantitatively validated; all were cold stress-induced, acute phase proteins that were either up-regulated (haptoglobin) or down-regulated (alpha-1-inhibitor III, alpha-2u globulin, complement component 3, and vitamin D-binding protein) in the concrete-housed rats. These results suggest that the 4-week exposure to a concrete cage in winter elicited a typical systemic inflammatory reaction (i.e. acute phase response) in the exposed rats.
