Preventive and Antioxidative Effects of Crude Drug Preparation(E-kong-san) on Cisplatin Induced Nephrotoxicity. Proceedings of International Symposium on East-West Medicine, Seoul. 201-211, 1999. -Nephroprotective effects of a crude drug-prearation (E-kong-san) were determined from cisplatin on rabbit kidney proximal tubule and human renal cortical cells by MTT assays and sustained glucose consumption on ciplatin-induced human renal cortical tissue. Levels of creatinine and blood ure nitrogen(BUN) in serum after administration of cisplatin(0.75mg/kg,i.p.) to E-kong-san(0.75g/kg/day,p.o.)-pretreated rats were markedly lower compared to those of cisplatin-treated rats. Moreover, the administration of E-kong-san significantly inhibited the loss of body weight of cisplatin injected rts. These findings suggest that E-kong-san on the cisplatin induced nephrotoxicity led us to investigate whether the effect of this water extract was a result of anti-oxidation. E-kong-san showed strong free radical scavenger activities on 1,1-dipheny1-2picrylhydrazil(DPPH) radical and xanthine/xanthine oxidase(XOD) generated superoxide anion radical(O2-). We further studied the effects of E-kong-san on lipid peroxidation in rat liver microsomes induced by enzymatic and nonenzymatic methods. E-kong-san exhibited significant inhibition on both ascorbic acid/Fe2+and ADP/NADPH/Fe3+ induced lipid peroxidation in rat liver microsomes. Based on these results, we suggest that-E-kong-san attenuate the cisplatin induced cytotoxicity and its mechanism can be eplained by antioxidant.

        광중합형 복합레진의 중합시간과 거리에 따른 중합도의 변화

        본 연구에서는 광중합형 복합레진을 대상으로 중합거리와 시간의 변화에 따른 중합도와 거리에 따른 적절한 중합시간을 알아보기 위하여 일정 중합 광도하에서 중합거리와 시간을 달리하여 재료의 표면과 2mm 하방의 미세경도를 측정한 후 이를 통하여 간접적으로 중합도를 평가하였다. 광중합형 복합레진으로 Z100과 B25O을 사용하였고 각 재료별로 조사단과의 거리가 0, 2, 4, 6mm인 상태에서 20, 30, 40, 60, 80초간 광조사를 시행하였다. 중합 후 표층과 내층의 경도를 미세경도 측정기로 측정하였다. 측정치를 통계처리하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 거리의 증가에 따라 상대광도는 2mm 이상에서 급격히 감소하였다(p<0.05). 2. 미세 경도는 상대광도와 조사시간의 증가에 따라 표층 및 내층에서 모두 증가하였다(p<005). 3. 내층이 표층에 비해 상대적으로 중합거리와 시간의 영향을 많이 받았다(p<0.05). 4. 조사 시간의 증가에도 불구하고 Z100 시편에서 중합거리가 4mm 이하군과 6mm군에서, Z25O 시편에서는 2mm 이하군과 4mm 이상군에서 내층의 미세 경도 차이가 비교적 크게 나타났다(p<0.05). The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the distance of the light tip to the surface of restoration and exposure tome on the polymerization of surface and 2mm below the surface of light-activated composite resins. Two light-activated composite resins were used. From the experiment, the following results were obtained. 1. Relative light Intensity rapidly decreased when distance of the light tip to the sulfate of material is more than 2mm(p<0.05). 2. In all groups, microhardness was increased according to the increase of relative light intensity and exposure time(p<0.05). 3. The distance of the light tip to the surface of restoration and exposure time more affected 2mm below the surface rather than the surface(p<0.05). 4. Although exposure time was increased, difference of microhardness of the 2mm bolow the surface with the distance of the light tip to the surface of restoration was relatively high in Z100 between below 4mm and other groups and Z250 between below 2mm and other groups(p<0.05).

        유아용 시럽형 약물이 구강 내 산도에 미치는 영향

        Syrup form medicines which children commonly take contains sugar as sweeteners. Sugar, low endogenous pH, high acidity, mucosity and low concentrations of ions including those of calcium, fluoride, and phosphate in their composition, they can be cause of caries and erosion. Not only the properties found in such medicines. but also other factors such as high frequency of ingestion, bedtime consumption, and the collateral effect of a reduction in salivary flow, poor oral hygiene of sick children may also contribute to the risk. The other side, parents rarely recognize these risk, and medical experts also easily overlook. The purpose of this study was to investigate the pH level of some syrup form medicines which are frequently administered by infants and young children, and their effects on the changes of plaque pH when rinsing with them. And we compared the salivary pH change induced by rinsing with Cough-syrup only and rinsing with Cough-syrup followed by water. The results were as follows : 1. The average pH of syrup form medicines which were prescribed in Pusan National University Hospital and several OTC syrup form medicines was pH 4.7±0.94, within the range of pH 3.0 to 6.8. 2. The plaque pH decreased rapidly below pH 5.5 after rinsing with the syrup form medicines which were selected for the test and there was no statistically significant difference in the of plaque pH change between syrup form medicines except C0LDI(p>0.05). 3. There was statistically significant difference in salivary pH change between rinsing with Cough-syrup only and rinsing with water after Cough-syrup(p<0.05). 유아용 시럽형 약물은 어린이가 쉽게 복용할 수 있도록 여러 종류의 당분을 감미제로 사용하고 있으며 그로 인한 우식의 위험이 높다고 할 수 있다. 그러나 시럽형 약물의 우식유발성에 대한 보호자의 인지도는 매우 낮으며 의료 종사자들 조차 이를 소홀히 여기고 있어 문제의 심각성이 크다고 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 시럽형 약물이 구강 내 산도에 미치는 영향에 대하여 조사할 목적으로, 15 종의 시럽형 약물의 산도를 조사 하고,그 중 널리 시판되는 4종을 선택하여 이 약물들이 치태의 산도 변화에 미치는 영향을 평가하였다. 또한 가장 흔하게 사용하는 유아용 시럽형 약물의 일종인 코푸시럽의 복용방법에 따른 타액의 산도 변화를 측정하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 15 종 시럽형 약물의 산도는 pH 3.0∼6.8의 범위에서 다양하여 평균 pH 4.7±O.94로 나타났다. 2. 치태의 산도변화를 측정하기 위해 선정된 4종의 시럽형 약물 모두는 구강 내 투입 직 후 법랑질의 탈회 임계점인 pH 5.5 이하로 치태의 산도를 급격히 떨어뜨렸으며,시간 경과에 따른 치태의 산도 변화에서 콜디(종합 감기약)를 제외한 모든 약물에서는 유의한 차이가 없었다(p>O.05). 3. 코푸 시럽으로 구강을 행구어낸 경우와 코푸 시럽에 이어 물로 구강을 행구어낸 경우 타액의 산도 변화에 있어서는 유의한 차이가 있었다(p<O.05).

        Idiopathic retarded eruption의 1 증례

        맹출지연이란 맹출이 방해받거나 어떠한 이유로 맹출이 개시되지 않음으로 인해서 치아의 형성과 맹출의 조화에 문제가 발생한 경우를 말한다. 이러한 상황은 다양한 증후군이나 내분비장애와 동반되어 나타난다. 내분비장애등과 같이 원인이 분명한 경우에서는 적절한 원인치료를 통해 치아맹출을 정상적으로 유도할 수 있으나, 전자의 경우에는 맹출력을 증가시키기 위한 알려진 치료법은 아직 없는 상태이다. 원인불명으로 다수 치아의 맹출지연을 보이는 경우, 일반적인 성장과 발육상태는 정상적인 경우가 많으며, 방사선학적으로 맹출단계에 비해 치아의 발육이 빠른 단계를 보인다. 대개 맹출시에는 정상적인 맹출순서를 따르나, 공간부족이나 위치이상 또는 치은섬유화로 인해 매복되는 경우도 발생한다. 이런 경우 선행 유치의 발거는 영구치의 맹출을 촉진하는데 도움이 되지 못 하며, 심미성의 상실, 교합고경의 감소 및 치조돌기의 상실 등의 부작용을 나타낼 수 있다. 따라서 최선의 치료목표는 잔존 유치를 가급적 장기간 보존하는 것이다. 본 증례는 영구치의 전반적인 맹출지연을 보이는 10세 1개월된 어린이를 대상으로 원인규명을 위한 다각적인 노력을 기울였으나, 특별한 내과적 검사상의 이상소견이나 기타의 병리적 소견이 발견되지 않은 환자를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. 주요어 : 맹출지연, 영구치

        In this paper, we analyzed system performance parameters of analog optical transmission link for WLL and fabricated the optical transmitter and receiver satisfying system requirements. Transmitter consists of LD driver, ATC, and APC circuit, and receiver includes photodetector and amplifier circuit. Center frequency of RF carrier is set to 2.0 GHz for various applications such as WLL, PCS, etc. Return loss is measured for impedance matching and system performance of transmitter and RF output power is compared with RF input power to measure the total optical link loss. Amplifiers are used for loss compensation. From the measured system performance data, -14 dB return loss and 40 dB CNR is achieved.

        Osteopoikilosis is a rare condition showing characteristic multiple sclerotic lesions on radiographic examination. We report one patient presenting with multiple sclerotic areas in several bones of the body. This 29-year-old female patient complained left side inguinal pain after slip down. The radiographs showed fracture in left inferior ramus of pubis and multiple, small, variably shaped radiodensities. Conservative treatment was continued until there was clinical and radiological evidence of union.

      • 초음파 및 적외선 센서를 이용한 자율이동로봇의 확률지도 형성에 관한 연구

        For the navigation of an autonomous mobile robot in complex environment, the map building of the environment is needed using sensors. The ultrasonic sensor is low cost, easy to install and has high-speed information processing persormance. Environment recognition using ultrasonic sensors, however, has two major problems: the uncertainty information of sensor and false readings caused by specular reflection and multipath effect. In order to resolve these problems, an map building method using Bayesian update model was proposed previously[5]. In this paper, we present an improved method of probability map building that uses infrared sonsors and shift division Gaussian probability distribution with the existed Bayesian update model using ultrasonic sensors. The validity and the persormance of the improved map building method are examined by simulation and experiment with real mobile robot.

The oriental characters of Holotrichia is warm, toxicant, salty. 4. The significant efficancy of Holotrichia is breaking the stagnant blood. 5. Holotrichia can be applied to the diseases related to thrombosis, and recover the demage of liver. 6. Holotrichia avails Liver diseases such as Hepatitis, Liver cirrhosis, Hepatosplenomegaly, Hepatoma etc.

        응급환자에 대한 맥박산소측정기의 임상적 평가

        Pulse oximetry is a noninvasive method of measuring blood oxygen saturation even before changes to the cardiopulmonary functions become apparent clinically. Therefore it has been widely excepted in many disciplines as a standard patient monitoring equipment. But its accuracy has been argued at low oxygen saturation levels. To determine the accuracy of the pulse oximetry in the emergency department where the patients presenting with respiratory difficulty are expected to have low oxygen saturation levels. Prospective, cross-sectional, paired measurements of oxygen saturation by two different pulse oxineters(SpO2) against oxygen saturation of arterial blood gas analysis(SaO2) was performed from May 1994 to September 1995 at two different university hospitals. Two pulse oxineters each with its digital probe were applied to the patient for the measurement of SpO2 simultaneously and arterial blood gas was drawn for analysis(ABGA) at the same time to measure SaO2. 98 patients who met the criteria mostly consisted of cardiopulmonary patients. There were no significant differences between mean SpO2(88.1±11.4, 88.2±10.0) of the two pulse oximeters and mean SaO2(88.7±11.4) from the arterial blood gas analysis(p=NS). Strong correlations were found(r=.80). But the regression declined as SaO2 decreased especially SaO2 < 90%. The pulse oximetry is potentially useful in patients with clinical signs of acute hypoxemia and patients receiving interventions that may produce acute hypoxemia, because of their ability to continuously monitor the oxygen saturation. But pulse oximetry along cannot identify the degree of hypoxemia or severity of distress. Therefore patients complaining of respiratory difficulty in an emergengy department, history and physical examination must be performed with pulse oximeter as a guide while backing it up with ABGA.

      • 소아고관절 주위좌골에 발생한 급성 골수염

        Early diagnosis is the key of proper management and reducing of complication in infectious condition of pelvic area. It is difficult to diagnose differentially between pyogenic arthritis of hip joint and osteomyelitis of pelvic bone around hip joint by bone scan that shows only 2 dimensional plane. But it is possible to differnetiate two lesions by SPECT that shows 3 dimensional plane. We report a case of osteomyelitis of ischium around the hip joint in a five year old girl who had severe painful swelling of left buttock, hip and thigh and fever for 2 days. Bone scan showed diffusely increased activity on left hip joint and also pelvic bone surrounding hip joint. But SPECT could visualize increased activity not on left hip joint but only on left ischium. So pyogenic arthritis of hip joint could be ruled out. The patient was cured without any complication by only administration of adequate antibiotics, under the diagnosis of acute osteomyelits of left ischium.
